"You'd practice a lot too if you had Kayla Winters and Nicholai Toussaint on your case all the time." Celandine muttered.

"Oh, sorry about that Celandine," she said, staring at Cela's wrist in wonder. Anna briefly wondered why she, as a seventh year, still didn't have a wand-drawing technique like that. Celandine would have to give her a few pointers after class or something. Or, well, actually, come to think of it, that was probably what the class was about to learn to do. Anna giggled softly at Celandine's last comment. "I'll say," she said, with a smile, before turning back to the professor.

MarcyMoo 05-31-2009 11:24 PM

Lucy looked around at the five students. "Celandine was the fastest in my opinion." She said to the professor. "But the others were quick to."

Lord Divadicus 05-31-2009 11:25 PM

"Professor, I would say Celandine was the fastest, she beat me my a milestone." Divad confessed, though saddened by his defeat.

"You were pretty good too." Celandine told the boy, "I bet if you had a holster and practiced with it, you'd be reaaaaaally impressive one day."

On account of he was a Ravenclaw and they were all at least a tiny bit awesome.

electric.rainbow 05-31-2009 11:29 PM

Whitney thought for a moment, there were couple who she had thought were the fastest. "Proffessor, I'm pretty sure Celandine was the fastest," she said, "And I suppose the most efficient with where she put her wand." She voiced what she thought, even though many others before her had said the same.

Krissy Moon 05-31-2009 11:30 PM

Krissy smiled as she saw that Celandine was the fastest draw in her opinion... Kayla would be so proud were she here now.
Note to self get want holster for wand arm

ooc: missread. correcting...

Diane patted her fellow first year on the shoulder with a smile. "That's quite alright, I thought you were very good."

She considered the prefect girl. "I guess it's unanimous. The risks of an arm holster are few, well, it is that you use your arm to conver yourself instinctively." She demostrated, placing both hands over her head. "Even for riddiculous cases like, if you were showered by meteorites. Humans tend to act irrationally like that.

"You also place it before you if you fall down. Thus, the wand might get damaged or break from an unexpected physical attack, or something falling over you, or tripping... but I guess that holds true if I fell on my side where the wand is kept."

druidflower 05-31-2009 11:34 PM

Cari grinned.

So the little blonde she had seen in the kitchen was Celandine Toussaint. How very interesting. Clever little witch to use a holster. She hadn't thought to use one at that age.

Cari didn't say anything, but waited until she was needed. Still, it was interesting to watch the students have at it.

Marcus nodded his head in approval at the answers that were given. "All of those who said Celandine was the fastest are correct." He gestured that the volunteers could return to their seats.

"A wrist holster as Celandine has shown is the most effective form of storing and drawing your wand." He pulled back the sleeve on his arm and showed the class the wrist holster that was sitting there. He flicked his wrist and his wand slid into his hand in a matter of seconds. "All it takes it was one slight movement of your hand and your armed and ready to go. As Mr Carden showed, shoving your wand down the waistband of your pants is not really ideal. For two reasons, one your could lose certain body parts if your wand accidentally went off and two when you are trying to draw in a hurry the wand could get stuck on a piece of clothing."

He moved through the chairs as he spoke. "There are different types of holsters that can be used other than a wrist holster. Who can tell me some of them?"

Krissy Moon 05-31-2009 11:39 PM

Krissy raised her hand quickly " An ankle holster is common, but I don't think it to be very useful unless it holds a spare wand." Krissy shrugged

highjinx 05-31-2009 11:41 PM

Cam raised his hand. "A belt holster?"

EquestrianGal88 05-31-2009 11:41 PM

Lettie raised her hand, "Is there also one for around the waist? Kind of like how a belt would be?" She wasn't entirely sure, but it was the best thing she could think of.

Ameh 05-31-2009 11:41 PM

Raiden returned to his seat and raised his hand immediately. "Uhm... that girl over there pointed out that you could use a leg holster sir..." He thought for a second. "It would be a bit inconvenient to have to bend down to get your wand in some cases, especially in one on one combat when there's nobody to back you up, but... it's an option. And I suppose that's only if it's around your ankle. It could be on the side of your leg, but then it would have to be outside your robes, wouldn't it? And then it would be obvious..."

Cela raised her hand, "You can have a holster on your back, that is really good when you have more than one wa..." Cela looked around, knowing full well that people were only supposed to have one wand, not that she had more than one or needed more than one, "...weapon. It's easy to reach and keeps the wand safe when it's between your shoulderblades, the only thing is that it's really obvious when you draw it so your opponent might be able to stop you before you even get your hand on your wand."

TMHFPolska 05-31-2009 11:42 PM

Hayley thought for a moment, before thinking back to some of those muggle wild-west books her parents had let her read, raising her hand, she answered what she thought my be a legitimate answer, "Well Sir, there are waist holsters, right?" How many kinds of holsters could there be? Waist, wrist, ankle?!...

Waterloo 05-31-2009 11:45 PM

Loss of certain body parts!? Clifford's face paled at the thought alone and he gulped nervously. That was the last time he shoved his wand down the back of his trousers. He was getting himself one of those things Celandine had. Yup. He wanted to keep ALL his body parts thank you very much. Shuddering a little, Clifford raised his hand, "Can you get one to put on your leg?"

Oh, so she and her classmates had definitely been correct. Celandine and her wrist holster had stolen the show! Anna watched in amazement as the professor demonstrated his own wrist holster. She had to admit, that method of wand-drawing was really awesome! She'd have to get her one of those holsters sooner or later. Wonder if Celandine had an extra one?

Raising her hand, Anna said, "I've read that there are holsters you can attach to your belt. Although that wouldn't necessarily be the fastest and most effective manner of drawing a wand, I suppose those who still choose to have it there would use the belt-clipped holster."

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 05-31-2009 11:47 PM

"And chest hosters," Diane added. No matter if she was repeating herself. Many here had already come up with the answers she could provide.

Luna Laufghudd 05-31-2009 11:47 PM

Miranda raised her hand
"Sir, are there holsters that go around your...uh, yourself, like the ones you see in those action movies and they pull out their bangbang's from under their armpits to protect themselves?"
Her dad, being a wizard, usually sat and watched movies. Specially James Bond movies. Much to the annoyance of her mother. Snort.

Felixir 05-31-2009 11:48 PM

Isn't a pocket a holster?

LIES UPON LIIIIES UPON DECEIT UPON LIIIIIIES!

Truth be told, Jake never kept his wand anywhere, other than his hand. It was just natural. But right now there were more important things to attend to. He raised his hand. "What's a holster?"

Sure... people kept talking about it and Lawson showed them it, but he didn't get it. Plus, there weren't many practical places to keep one... imagine on on the leg, you'd have to hitch the leg up and stuff.

Yaya 05-31-2009 11:52 PM

Emiliano raised his hand, "It can also be put around the waist, ankles, and why not, as Ms Toussaint has mentioned, at the back." He answered, thinking about where would his wand hiding place be.

"Have you watched muggle movies, the police keeps guns strapped to their chest?" Diane offered. "That's a gun holster."

Diane attention returned to the mysterious box. So it wasn't a threat after all. "Mmh..." She raised her hand, "Professor, could there be wand holsters to borrow inside that box?"

druidflower 05-31-2009 11:57 PM

The know-it-all in Caroline held both hands behind her back just to keep her hand from shooting up into the air. I know I know I know!!! she thought.

She thought. She did not say.

Instead she listened to the students as they came up with their own answers. Ug, listening and not participating was HARD!

"Excellent answer answer Miss Toussaint and you correct in your assumptions. Although I could not imagine a student needing more than one wand." Marcus smiled at the bright Ravenclaw.

Marcus turned to Jacob and let a sigh of exasperation. "Were you asleep when we discussed holsters and what they were used for Mr Upstead. I just finished demonstrating what a wrist holster looks like. I suggest you pay closer attention Mr Upstead, you still have to meet me later in the dueling arena. You might just find this lesson useful."

Torchwood 06-01-2009 12:05 AM

Jack raised his hand and answered, 'I have a back holster, but the thing is terribly uncomfortable and my hair always gets in the way, so I never wear it.'
