DRAW!

GASP!

Acting as though he was faced by some deadly opponent, Clifford shot his right hand - his wand hand - toward his back to grab the handle of his wand. It apparently got caught on something back there and took him a moment to get it free. But he did it eventually! After a little stumble anyway.

Diane, not one for this speed thing, drew her wand as fast as her hand had found the handle. It was pointed at the professor. Only the friction of the belt bothered her some.

But there you are. Maybe not the most normal of dueling stances, but at least it wasn't slow. Mmh. Then again, it would be better to aid herself with her left hand before, to feel for the wand, then making it easier to find the handle.

Ameh 05-31-2009 10:51 PM

Having stuck his wand in his left pocket, as per the professor's instructions, Raiden stepped away from the rest and took a slight breath, then jumped slightly chen the professor shouted to draw and whipped the wand back out of his pocket as quickly as he could, making sure to keep his grip tight so it wouldn't fly out of his hand and smack someone in the face.

Darn, Whitney had missed the chance to volunteer. Not that she ever had before, and wasn't sure if she ever would. There were plenty of other times where she could raise her hand.

Directing her focus to the front of the room she listened to the Proffessor. Drawing. Then Whitney noticed that the nurse was also in the room. Was this going to be a dangerous manuveor? Slightly intregued, she leant forward upon her desk. The students at the front of the room, that she was watching, placed their wands somewhere upon themselves. Curious.

Jenn absolutly loved this class. Having took out her wand from her inside pocket of her robes, she watched as the students that had volunteered went up to the front. Oh so they were seeing who's was in a better spot huh? Jenn thought her's was in a good place. Of coarse...she changed it every now and then...but...hey! She thought she had picked pretty good spots. She glanced around the room and spotted the nurse. Um....now that was a strange sign. Usually that meant someone might get hurt! OH! Now that would be interesting! She leaned forward as she waited excitedly for things to really get started.

Divad thought to himself, 'what a show-off.'

Ash Love 05-31-2009 10:56 PM

after hearing the word draw, Ash whipped he wand out of the pocket she put it in and stood in a defensive pose.

LadyNerd 05-31-2009 10:58 PM

And then she heard the words that the handsome professor spoke. She quickly moved her hands inside and reached for her wand, pulling it out along with her robe in front of her face. Well, that was graceful, something she didn't need at the moment. Her hands began pushing the material back to her body as her fingers grasped her wand in her right hand.

"Excellent work you guys. Very quick draws I must say and from some so young." He glanced at the first year for a second. Marcus turned back to class. "Okay those were a couple of examples of drawing your wand from particular places and we will go over more. But from the five students who just drew. Who do you think was the fastest and why?"

Lord Divadicus 05-31-2009 11:03 PM

"Thank you Professor!" Divad said with a small nod, knowing he was referring to him as the first year.

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 05-31-2009 11:04 PM

Diane watched some of the people who weren't at the front were attempting that move themselves. The girl with her robes over her face caught her attention and she couldn't help snickering. Then, perceiving the professor's eyes on them, Diane returned that look with a full smile but with an inward grimace. This will be difficult to keep up.

Allie raised her hand.
"I think it was Cela, Professor. Because I blinked for a second and her wand kind of just appeared there like it was in her hand the whole time. she said.

Ameh 05-31-2009 11:07 PM

Even though he was one of the drawers, Raiden raised his hand tentatively. He'd watched the others as he'd drawn his own, so... yeah.

"Celandine Toussaint, sir," he said quietly. "I actually didn't even see that she'd drawn her wand, she was that fast." He grinned sheepishly. "If she were someone's opponent, they'd be flat on their backs half a second after the command to draw."

Raising her hand Cela answered, "It's easier to draw fast from a holster, sir." Celandine held her arm up and folded the sleeve down to show the holster on her forearm. And there is less of a chance of something getting in the way as well as it being less noticeable when you actually do draw; you don't have to make any sudden movements, just charm the holster to react to whatever flick or twist of the wrist that you find most natural." She paused, "And mine is pink."

Cayden was near the back as he heard the professors question. He was going to answer it, but it seemed that raiden had already answered it. He would of had to yell it to him anyway. The Ravenclaw girl was faster this was for sure, but he didnt quite understand the need for a holster. He would of thought the front pockets would be just as good, If you were good enough. As for the rest of them she seemed to put them in their places. Poor Clifford. He seemed to have lost his in his back pocket, maybe a black hole of some sort.

Lislchen 05-31-2009 11:10 PM

Nancy had watched all five of the students with great interest as each one drew their wand as fast as possible at the professor's order. Now, who had been quickest, though? Maybe it would have been Clifford but his wand had apparently gotten caught at something so he needed more time to have his wand drawn than he probably would have. So, no, definitely not Clifford this time.

Nancy's eyes moved from face to face as she recalled each students' attempts until they rested on Celandine, a blonde Ravenclaw girl. Yes, probably she had had her wand at a rather handy place so she had been quickest. Raising her hand Nancy said with a nod towards her, "Uhm...I'd say, Celandine was fastest. Her wand was at a place she could easily and very quickly draw it from."

Hayley raised her hand and spoke shyly, pointing to the girl who had the wrist holster thing, "Uhm..I think her method was fastest, 'cause it was really really quick...and when you're in a duel, you want the quickest way to retrieve your wand, right?" Hayley hoped she hadn't made a fool of herself just now, but she figured it would be best to be wrong and get corrected than to just remain ignorent.

"Hmmm..." Miranda thought, squinting her eyes as she looked at the students at the front of the class. Who was fastes and more efficient?
She raised her hand
"Professor, I think that...uh..." Miranda blushed. This happens when you don't know the names, "you from Slytherin that had a special pocket for your wand but now you dont have it because there was a flood in the dungeons and your robe is down there, seriously, have no idea how you can..." yeah stop babbling. "Well I thought you were the fastest" Miranda pointed at Raiden "Because he had the wand closest to his hand and he probably would have been fast still if he had his super wand pocket!"

Yeah.

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 05-31-2009 11:14 PM

Retrieving her wand and straightening up, Diane raised her hand. "The holster looks like a good idea. Keeping a wand in my belt might be similar, but it's not a place for keeping when in duelling stance. If you crouch down, the wand handle tends to move out of reach. If I make a movement too sudden, I might poke my own ribs or my leg. And if I double over, I might snap it in half." Because, again, that's not why Diane kept it on her belt.

She turned to the prefect, "But I wouldn't suggest a waist holster, or you will have similar troubles as me. A leg hoslter maybe it. Or if you could have it strapped to your chest." She tilted her hand, "It will give much less unnecessary friction, though."

Mrs. Weasley 05-31-2009 11:15 PM

"I believe Celedine was the fastest and not just because of her holster. She performed with a fluid of movement the others seem to be lacking. I would say Celedine has probably practed her quick draw more than the others."

Anna watched as all the volunteers restored their wands then drew them back out. Her eyes darted back and forth between each one, watching to see who seemed to have the best technique and why. Finally, she decided to go with Celandine Toussaint's technique---man, where had the wand come from?!?. Raising her hand, she said, "Professor Lawson, I'd have to say Celandine Toussaint's technique was the most effective. From what I can see, she's housed her wand in an area where it isn't easily accessible to others. I can't imagine anyone easily stealing her wand from her. I also think it was the fastest method, because she seems to have it stored on the arm opposite her wand hand. It looks as if it doesn't take long at all to reach over and pull it out. Then you have your wand ready to go in the correct hand."

Crystal Ball 05-31-2009 11:15 PM

Mari watched the four students draw their wands, noting with a small smile that Celandine had definitely been the fastest. Mari hadn't expected anything less, to be honest but she remained silent for the time being when Professor Lawson questioned the class on their opinions. She waited, keeping quiet and waiting to see what happened next.

Lezleighd 05-31-2009 11:16 PM

Satine raised her hand, "I would have to say that I think they called her Cela...she was super fast...but I have to admit that they all were pretty impressive and were just seconds apart if even that much."

Celandine shook her head. "Actually it is my wand arm. The wand flicks out and into my hand. That's why it's better and harder to see it being drawn." Celandine explained.

"You'd practice a lot too if you had Kayla Winters and Nicholai Toussaint on your case all the time." Celandine muttered.

Yaya 05-31-2009 11:21 PM

It was obvious...Cela was the fastest thanks to the holster tecnique. "I could see it was Ms. Toussaint..." Emiliano commented, raising his hand of course. "...it's like in the Muggle Movies, spies draw things from places no where to be seen, noticed and it's really handy when it comes as is in our case of Wizards, to easly react and attack the opponent." He said.
