She said, pulling the drawstring and returning the pouch to her pocket.

"Okay class let's begin." She said, sitting on the ground and resting the niffler on her lap. "For today's lesson we're going to be learning about - and handling - Nifflers." She pet the niffler's furry body as she spoke scratching him gently behind the ears. "Now class, I would like each of you to tell me one thing you know about these creatures. Just raise your hand and call your answers out."

Raising her hand Ash called out"Niffler's love shiny objects and wanna collect them

Divad was anxious. He had no idea what a Niffler was or did. So he just sat there hoping others knew.

Alternately hot and cold feelings still creeping up her arm from Raiden holding her hand again, Kiri mouthed Hi to the two people she was now standing next to, a girl Raiden had called Daphne and a boy she had never seen before and who Raiden didn't seem to know, either.

She felt a small blush coming on at being introduced to a friend of Raiden's in such a way. Oh no, not in class! Kiri thought desperately, but there was no helping it. Hastily, she raised her hand and said: "Nifflers are very good at finding treasure, Professor. Even when it's buried in the ground."

Laura raised her hand. "Well," she said. "I read that they are really bad as pets, because they reck houses searching for shiny things?"

Yaya 05-29-2009 06:14 PM

Emiliano raised his hand, ready to answer at least one fact about such interesting creatures. "...Well, they are excellent diggers, they mostly live in mines of gold...shiny things..." Too few, he needed more information. Yet, he thought it was enough, let's give a chance to the other students.

Raising her hand, Rachel thought for a moment before replying. "Well, they are strongly attracted to anything shiny, and even though they are affectionate creatures they might be hard to handle when there's something of interest to them in the vicinity. That's why they are really good for treasure hunting - I heard goblins keep them for that very purpose," she said, grinning at the thought of the goblins being nice to the nifflers. The goblins have pets... There's an odd thought.

"um...professor...they um...like to borrow shiny things..." said Bella raising her hand...she had read that in her text some time back...but that was the only thing she could remember...

Bowing her head slightly in respect as Professor Morgan assured her she'd take good care of their possessions - including her little silver ring -, Evangeline smiled. Well, if Professor Morgan said she'd take good care of them, Evangeline knew she would. "Well, Professor, Nifflers are creatures that are native to Britain.." Evangeline said, raising her hand and glaring at Anna who had decided to CLEARLY not follow the Professor's words and say everything she knew about the Nifflers. Hmpf.

bone_baud10 05-29-2009 06:15 PM

Thomas raised his hand and said," Nifflers live in Britan and Nifflers are often kept by goblins to burrow deep into the earth."

Felixir 05-29-2009 06:17 PM

Jake thought, but most of the ideas he had were being said. He raised his hand anyway. "They have paws or whatever like small spades, so they can dig... Also, they can be confused for the Groundskeeper here when you're in a bit of a temper..." he added, smiling and biting his lip at the same time.

Lissy Longbottom 05-29-2009 06:17 PM

Jack raised his hand. "Well, erm, they kind of look like moles, in my opinion, and they really like shiny things. Goblins use them a lot to dig for treasure, and generally they're really gentle but I've heard that they CAN bite--and they can destroy stuff on their quest for shiny things if you're not careful," he answered.

MeredithRodneyMckay 05-29-2009 06:18 PM

Sarah raised her hand in the air before she spoke. "Uhhh they like shiny stuff,Ma'am? That's the reason you asked all not to wear anything shiny, right?"

It was the best she could do,and yes she had just answered a question with....a question.

Angie 05-29-2009 06:18 PM

Willow, who had been very quiet the whole time, raised her hand at Professor Morgan's question, "Aren't Nifflers the creatures that some people use to look for treasures and things of that nature? Because they are attracted to shiny objects?"

"Oh yes." Vanessa nodded, resisting the temptation to stroke it. "I do enjoy you're lessons." She grinned, sheepishly.
Then she noticed a little firstie who looked a little scared. Giving the Professor one more smile, she moved to stand by him. He didn't need to be so scared!

Shivering as a girl moved to stand by him, George looked up at her and gasped at the girl who had been wearing a prefect badge before. Why is she standing here? Have I done something wrong? He wondered, desperately trying to find a reason why she was there.

Staring curiously at the animal the professor had, George heard her speak. Worrying because he hadn't been paying attention to her words he looked around at the people sitting near him. Hands in the air? He frowned. Must have been a question. He shrugged and then stared at the animal, watching it closely in case it decided to attack him.

Reese raised her hand. "Nifflers like shiny objects. I mean- they like to search for objects that are shiny and they, erm, they also live in mines," she told the Professor.

Isabella turned to Thomas as he spoke about Nifflers being used by Goblins...
"wow...that's interesting..." she said to herself...
Bella quickly noted down the rest of the information that she was collecting...about Nifflers being in mines, good pets/bed pets, short tempered...she was roughly jotting them down and later she would cancel them if they were not correct. she looked up and waited for the professor to speak...

Kel bit his lip before raising his hand. "Well, they like shiny things..." he said, "And wizards use them to find money and stuff?" he said, not feeling very confident about his answer. He dipped his quill into some ink so he could take some notes on right answers.

JackW092 05-29-2009 06:23 PM

Jack raised his hand and said" Nifflers are native to Britain and are very good at finding things which are shiny."

Iris raised her hand nervously and said, "once, my mum told me that we couldn't have one because they can destroy your house and things very quickly whilst they are looking for shiny things."

Iris hoped that it was nifflers that her mum had told her about... the creature in magical mengerie looked just like that when she asked for one all of those years ago... when she was five.

Pigwidgeon Took 05-29-2009 06:28 PM

Jude raised his hand with the only thing he knew about them, "Dey're cu'e an' black an' loike shineh thin's..."

Hollister 05-29-2009 06:34 PM

Miles raised his hand. "If they're good for treasure hunting, d'you reckon they'd be good for stealing valuable stuff? Like .. jewellery and shiny coins?" It was just a thought, he wasn't planning on doing this himself. Mwaha.

bone_baud10 05-29-2009 06:37 PM

Thomas raised his hand again and he said,"Nifflers can be harmless but if there is any valubale or glittery objects around they can be kind of distructive."

theSpark_Inside 05-29-2009 06:38 PM

Julie raised her hand, Weren't nifflers set into the office of Delores Umbridge in Mr. Potters time? Julie loved her history and she had thought she had read that somewhere.

Mrs. Weasley 05-29-2009 06:40 PM

Abby raises her hand. "Nifflers have a Ministry of Magic Classification of XXX which makes them safe for most wizards to handle." Abby can't wait to be able to hold one. They're so cute!!!

milloy112 05-29-2009 06:41 PM

Ricco stuck his hand up and calledd out "They are used by the goblins mainly as they are great at finding diamonds in mines and things"
