Reese nodded at what the Professor said. She sat back in her seat and listened as he commented on the rest of the class' answers. Once he was done, Professor Ashby asked another question, this one made her think. What was the spell that made invisible ink appear? She thought for a moment, then raised her head. "Isn't like aperacium...apracium..." She couldn't think of the right word. Oh, darn.

Whaaaaaat? Professor Ashby didn't know anything about the flood. "Professor," she said, her hand still raised. "The Slytherin and Hufflepuff common rooms have flood," she informed him. "The Quidditch Pitch has flooded,too." She finally lowered her hand.

So the professor had just given him friendship points--which was extremely awesome, kinda. He really diiid want to learn how to decorate like this. You just didn't see bottles of ink and quills stuck to every part of the room and also flying around, didja? Yeaaaah. Wait, what? Invisible ink? Sounded nifty. It sounded so... mysterious. Invisible.

Spies used it. Cam was a spy. Totally.

"Ummmm the incantation's something like Aprseeyummy something ... I think?" he started off... a bit too nervous on his words and frowned as he got it completely wrong after listening to his clasmates, "Sounds like a Spanishhh or a Mexican word if you emphasize on the R a bitt. Aparrrrrrrrrrecium. Ya know?"

Hmm. Spanish words. He wasn't fluent but he knew a few. Yup yuppity yup.

Jack's eyes nearly fell out of his head in shock. The professor didn't know about the flooded dungeons? Good Merlin, that was a surprise. Where had he been? He raised his hand, because he didn't want to talk out of turn, to add to the student accounts of the flood. "Professor Bunbury's office flooded too, or so I heard--might be a rumor," he added sheepishly. He really hoped it wasn't. Otherwise he had just made a fool of himself. Keeping his hand in the air, he decided now would be a good time to answer that question the professor had asked.

"Sir, the incantation for that spell is Aparecium, which comes from the latin word Appareo, which means to appear," he explained.

Issy cast a very strange glance over at that Cameron boy. He was the one with Juni's lemurs, right? Looking at him alone made her heart lurch, so she drew her wary and cautious glance away from him.

Her hand drew into the air.

"Like the others have said, Professor, the spell to make invisible ink show itself is Aparecium. Text I've read has alluded to, though never really specified, that the spell may by chance reveal other invisible things. It's root," and now, she glanced over to the rather confused Australian Hufflepuff, "is not a fruit, but the base or source of the word. The incantation comes from the Latin word apparo, which means to become visible or to appear."

Roland blinked several times as Professor Ashby skated over the fact that two common rooms had been heavily damaged and put out of use.
As for the question about invisible ink he had to think. He raised his hand once more and clearing his throat before he spoke, "I think it might be Aparecium....then again it could be revelio" he said running a hand through his hair.

Aaron did NOT think he was crazy... Until he said he didn't hear about the floods. Aaron raised his hand again. "Sir, I don't know the spell to read invisible ink. But not to be rude, how could you NOT hear about the floods?" After all he and his friends went through, he didn't know about the floods? This was madness.

Fallon blushed a little. She sank down in her seat just the slightest bit. Wow. That's kind of embarassing. she thought to herself.


Fallon looked around the room. So many people had already answered Professor Ashby's question. She didn't know if any of them were right, but she also didn't know the answer. She debated on taking notes, and thought againest it at the moment. The class seemed simple enough right now. She looked at Aaron as he brought up the floods and figured it best that she keep quiet so not to anger the Professor.

Oh, so she'd actually guessed correctly, then. That was definitely a first. She listened as Professor Ashby addressed each person who'd replied, and she mentally took notes on what he discussed. Aparecium was interesting...the charm and the newspaper, ha ha. Raising her hand, she said, "That'd be Aparecium, Professor. It comes from the Latin word appareo, which means 'to appear'."

"Ooh Professor the spell would be Aparecium!" So he was partly rright about the disappearing and appearing part. "It comes from the latin language and the word appareo which means to become visible."

As many people had already answered the question, Varius decided to ask something that may have been on a few of his classmates minds. "Professor? Has our learning this charm today got anything to do with the gossip parchment that has started floating around this term? You know, the one that claims Bunbury and Lawson smooched at the Greenhouses and that Clifford Carden pees his pants? Or you know it could be completely unrelated. Maybe they plagarised the idea off of you Professor Ashby - there may be laws against that or something. Do I get a cut if you win some monies?"

Lyra looked at Varius and giggled. "That really happened, I really saw them kiss!" OH that was a shock and so much fun to tell and...and...someone put it in that paper! She said she was gossip queen and someone took her word for it. Now she only wondered what she could say that was false yet end up in that paper.

Amber raised her hand and spoke to the professor, "Professor, is the reappearing spell the only spell we'll be learning today?" She asked, curious.

Linda raised her hand and asked ' The spell is aparecium charm,the incantation is apareo as the others said.And it means to appear in Latin.But is that the only thing we're gonna learn today,professor?'

Herminny raised her hand knowing full well what the answer was for the spell and incantation to make invisible writing apear and said, "The spell is aparecium and the incantation is apareo.".

Daniel raised his hand sky high and answered, "Professor, Apareceum reveals invisible ink. It comes from the Latin appareo which means to appear." he puased and then, "But I have read of a spell which is used by the former Hogwarts Headmaster Severus Snape, but that I cannot recall."

alex thought to himelf.... hmmm i know this... then it came to him out of nowhere. he raised his hand and said "it is the aparecium charm, and the incantation is apareo and it is the latin root apareo which means appear.

Cedric raised his hand,"Its the Aparecium that reveals inks that is not visible.And the incantation is Appareo but there's also some stuffs that can't be revealed by the incantation like the Marauder's map"He answered.

Ashby could only think to do one thing: smack himself in the forehead and rub his eyes so his face made a nasty squishy sound like when you pull your cheeks away from your face over and over really quickly (please try it )

"I need to get out of my office more," he muttered. "Umm, thank you, Miss Toussaint."

"The pitch too?!" he half-squealed. Not the pitch! That was the one part of Hogwarts (other than his classroom and his office) that he loved the most! For shame!

"Yummy?" the rotund man asked, snapping back to his class. Oh yes, he had been teaching. Yummy? Shortbread? Mmmmm....

"That could be fun, but I'm not sure the charm would work after that."

Utterly shocked by how anti-social and aloof he had been thus far, Ian's mouth gaped open a little. "Oh my. Let's hope the water doesn't reach this high!"

Mental Note: Talk to the rest of the staff about what the heck is going on.

"Childe, you must understand that I am a very busy man, and happen to have locked myself in my office for the past....very long time...doing work. I assure you, though, that I will educate myself on the going ons of this school soon enough."

'Twas true. How had he allowed himself to become so far removed?

"Oh my! I really have been living under a rock! I haven't read this magazine! However, it sounds as though I'll have to speak to these two professors." Ian's head was spinning. Or maybe it was the room. Or maybe Ian just needed some air. His office wasn't that well ventilated.

"My boy, I don't think they could have plaigiarized the idea from me, since I'm not the one who came up with this spell. Wouldn't it be nice if I could convince someone of that, though?"

"As intriguing as this sounds, students, I think it's time we return to the lesson, don't you?"

"As far as spells go, yes, this is the only thing we will be learning today, girls, however, I'll try to make it more fun than just a ho-hum theoretical lesson about charms. We approach things very hands-on here at Hogwarts, as you can see." He motioned toward the floating ink bottles and quills to prove to the girls that he was no Ministry-approved professor. No, sir.

"Marauder's Map? Child, where have you heard of this map? I've never even heard of such a thing."

Ian switched his focus back to strawberry cheesecake. No. The lesson. Yes, he was here to teach.

"Well, class, as many of your pupils pointed out, the incantation for the charm is Aparecium. However, this is not to be confused with the root word, appareo, which is Latin for appear." Ian didn't want to mention it to the class because he was there to teach charms and not grammar, but to appear was the infinitive form of the verb, and would require a change in the ending of the word. He couldn't quite remember what it was. Apparare? Apparere? But that was beside the point.

"So, just for some background on the spell, it is used mostly to reveal invisible ink, such as the kind that is used in secret notes or the diaries of young children. However, it can also be used to reveal other invisible things. Today, though, we will just be working with invisible ink, as it is the most basic and common subject with which to work.

"So, class, let's all first say the incantation. a-par-EE-see-um!" As he said the incantation, Ian touched the blackboard with his wand, and the incantation of the spell was revealed in chalk he had charmed to write invisibly.

While he waited for the chorus of correct and incorrect pronunciations of the incantation, he twiddled his wand through his fingers, sending a small shower of sparks flitting toward the ground.

"In order for this charm to work, you merely touch the tip of your wand to the parchment or whatever surface it is you are trying to make reveal its message.

"Are there any questions?"

"a-par-EE-see-um!" she wondered if she had said it correct, it sounded right!

"Umm,its a very useful map,"He replied,that's the thing that he can say."And question,hmm,do you know who was the gossiper?"He asked,he read many gossips from the parchments that been floating all around at hogwarts."And this one really puzzle me,the spell reveals invisible things right prof?Does the spell can reveal peoples that been hiding using ordinary invisibility cloaks"

GiggleSnort. What a funny incantation. Miles pretended he had his wand in his hand and flicked it. "AP-ARR-EEE-SEEE-UMM." That was right? Yes? Hmm. He laughed at his pronounciation and tried again. "APP-EER...ARRR?-EEE-SEE-UM." Close enough. Miles put his his air wand back on the table and looked around at everyone else who was having a go.

Lyra decided to say the incantation a few times in her head so that , hopefully she wouldn't make a mistake when saying it out loud. 'a-par-reea-see-um' no... not good . 'a-par-ri-see-um' no! argh, spelling was just..ugh. 'Ok Lyra try again. a-pa-ree-cium' ... sounded better, well not really. Getting slightly frustrated that she messed up so many times in her mind, she listened to the other students .. 'a-par-EE-see-um? a-par-EE-see-um?! yes thats it!'. Delighted that she got it right she half shouted "a-par-EE-see-um!" and threw her hands in the air, only to become red in the face and she quickly lowered her hands while tapping her finger nervously on the desk.

Clark took his wand out and placed it on his desk for future use. "Uh-pair-uh-seeee-ummm!" he yelled. He had messed up the Latin root, so he was anxious to prove himself worthy.

Even though it didn't need proving. *pose*

He sneezed again. "Erm...Professer...in those inkwells, is the ink the brand name 'Jade'?"

Twiddling wand in hand, Fyo made a mental note of the pronunciation. It was not hard, you know [charms could be a pretty easy subject if you paid it proper attention, really] and the whole task was not very demanding but, like everything else related to study, Fyo found the recitation fun.

"A-par-EE-see-um," he said out loud. Yup, that sounded about right. "A-par-EE-see-um," he repeated. YAY!

Clifford's face was currently flushed with a furious red. Did Tipps just do that? Tell the whole bloody charms class that he pee'd in his pants? Jaw clenched angrily, the seventh year turned in his seat to glare at the Hufflepuff. GRRRR.

"a-par-EE-see-um.." Clifford mumbled, copying what the others were saying.
