"You're Destiny Number is 8." she told Professor Shackleton.

Maxilocks 06-19-2009 03:42 PM

Having heard the professor's instructions, Fyo quickly fished in his bag for the copy of the Pythagorean Number System chart that he kept handy - he felt it would look odd to carry the textbook to the front of the classroom - and pocketed it on his way to the board.

- Pocketed it because, you know, he remembered all that information.

Once he was at the board, the young Gryffindor began to work with enthusiasm, hoping he would make no mistakes in his calculations. Not that he was generally apt to - he just tended to make them when he in the limelight, or nervous. Right now, though, he had the advantage of not being the only "volunteer," so all was good. YAY!

Shackleton

Destiny Number:
1 + 7 + 9 = 17
1 + 7 = 8

An eight? Fyo's mind wandered to the pages of the textbook.

Hey, that was a niiice description! "Born to be a leader," he mused, not realizing that he had just said that out loud.

Professor Shackleton. "I've finished, Will you please check to see if it is right or not." Iris said, looking at the other peoples work for the first time, to see how hers compared. She knew this wasn't the best thing to do (as her mum told her that it wasn't good to compare your self to someone else), but she wanted to see what the others had written.

Stepping back, Natka observed her work critically, making sure she'd made no mistakes. Finding none, she turned around to see what the Professor had to say about it.

It was eight... right?

Professor Shackleton inspected each of the students' calculations and was proud to find that they had all done it correctly. "You've all determined that my Destiny Number is eight. And as Fyo just aptly summarized, I'm destined to be a leader according to my number. But we're not going to discuss the applicability of that description to my destiny just yet... because it will be part of your homework! Which I am now putting on the board."

Macadrian's wand swished threw the air and the homework appeared in chalk on the blackboard:
Quote:

Basic Arithmancy Lesson 2 Homework
Due: In one week (OOC: 6/26/09 by 11:59 EST)

1. Describe whether or not you think Professor Shackleton's Destiny Number is fitting to what you know about her as a professor and/or as a person and why. (2 points)

2. Creatively describe other ways Professor Shackleton might fulfill her destiny according to her Destiny Number. (2 points)

3. Calculate your own Destiny Number. Refer to the textbook for that number's meaning. (2 points)

4. How do you feel about that destiny? Do you think it seems applicable? How so? Feasible/achievable? How might you go about fulfilling that destiny? (4 points)
"Class dismissed. And please pick up a peppermint toad on your way out. Two if you did the calculation for my Destiny Number on the board."

Nixy! 06-19-2009 04:54 PM

Professor Shackleton was giving out homework aleady? Didn't they normally give out the home work at the end of the lesson? O_o... Iris really hoped that that meant there wasn't going to be two lots of homework! Iris copied down the homework, and put her things away.

Boy Wonder 06-19-2009 05:19 PM

Aaron copied down the homework and got up to get another toad. He then counted them up. Unlike the others, Aaron hadn't eaten any of them.vvA peperment toad saved is a peperment toad that is going to be bad in a week. Hey, maybe I can give these to Iris. He looked around for her and decided he would talk to her later.

Nixy! 06-19-2009 05:22 PM

Iris got up and picked up two peppermint toads. She really disliked these sweets. Meh, Aaron can have them she thought as she stood up and walked over to him.

Cy's bored eyes were glazed over, he hated doing math. His paper was filled with a lot of things, yet none of them were numbers. The first year sprang to life, though, at the end of class and quickly copied down the homework.

"See ya' latah' Professah'!", The Aussie saluted, and ran of out the classroom.

Hermione345 06-19-2009 05:31 PM

Linda copied down the homework on a parchment

She told professor 'It was a great lesson Professor.I enjoyed it a lot'.She smiled at ma'am and left.

Golden Monkey 06-19-2009 05:35 PM

William had zoned out as soon as he had heard she wanted them to calculate her destiny number. Blinking he stared in somewhat shock, not realizing that by the time he had picked up his quill the class was already over and everyone was leaving. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts he put his stuff away and sheepishly got up, slinging his bag over his shoulder and walking up to collect his peppermint frog. Smiling shyly at the professor he said, "Thanks for a great lesson professor. Have a nice day." before turning and walking towards the door, thinking of what he could do now.

Paintbrush 06-19-2009 06:09 PM

Natka copied down the homework swiftly and gathered her things. Smiling she picked up two perppermint toads on her way out - how she loved these!

"Thanks, Professor Shackleton," she said on her way out, referring to both the sweets and the lesson.

Lezleighd 06-19-2009 06:16 PM

Satine gladly accepted two more toads...these things were great. Before she left the class, she wondered up to the Professor's desk, "Thank you for the lesson today and the wonderful toads. They were great! Thanks again." she said with a smile.

fredsgirl81293 06-20-2009 01:45 PM

Demetria gathered her books together and walked up to the desk to recieve her peppermint toad. "Thank you for class, professor."

Maxilocks 06-21-2009 01:12 AM

Class dismissed? Awww. If Fyo could have hadhis way, Arithmancy class would go on forever. And forever. And forever.

Having walked back to his seat, he gathered his belongings, and stood up, happily taking two peppermint toads on the way out [they were nice, yummy things, you know.] "Thanks for the awesome lesson, ma'am," he said to Professor Shackleton, as he reached the doorway and stepped outside.
