Natka smiled widely at the praise from the Professor, content at having worked out the assignment correctly.

I might even learn to like this soon, she thought to herself, although in the back of her mind she knew how unlikely this was. She might not mind doing such working outs in the future, but... like them? That could be going a bit too far.

Looking around her and seeing most of the other students still engrossed in their work, Natka opened her textbook to read up on the Life Path Number in more detail. She had, of course, skimmed through the book during her holidays, as well as all her other textbooks, but she hadn't had time to read anything in much detail, and so she decided to do so now, in preparation for the upcoming discussion and analysis.

Diane raised her hand. "Professor," she began. "Are you quite certain the answer is not always the same with the master numbers reduced, and when it is not reduced?

"Like my classmate, I too have a masternumber which I calculated both with and without reducing it... both gave me the same number." She passed the parchment forwards.

8 + 11 2 + 6= 25 16
2+5= 7 1+6=7

"Could it be more than mere coincidence?"

Listening to the student's question, Macadrian explained, "Perhaps coincidence is the wrong word. While the final answer in single digit form will be the same, you could miss a Master Number for a final answer that would completely make your calculation incorrect. Master Numbers are very important in Arithmancy and forgetting to reduce creates the potential to miss this important set of numbers. So, in the case of you and your classmate, the final answers were the same because your numbers didn't ultimately result in a Master Number, but they could have and you would have completely been unaware of that presence and that power. Make sense?"

Having given the students ample time to perform their calculations, Professor Shackleton jotted down a note of house points earnings so far on a spare bit of parchment before continuing the lesson. "We are now ready to begin analyzing our Life Path Numbers. Remember that this number tells us the road you'll follow throughout your life, as well as your talents and abilities that will help you along that road. It is a major tool for navigating the road of life and tells what you can depend upon to find success in the world.

"While others may share the same Life Path number, it is the combination of all your numbers that will help to clarify how to proceed down this path of life. By the end of the term, you will understand that combination. And so we'll begin our journey with interpreting the Life Path. Who would like to volunteer to have the class analyze their Life Path? I suggest that the person who volunteers be very comfortable having an entire classroom discussing their potential future, and both the good and bad that may go with that."

Demetria's hand shot up. "I'll volunteer!" she said. This year she really wanted to be active in all of her classes. Please pick me! she thought to herself. She remembered Anna talking about how the Gryffies needed to be more active this term, and Dem wanted to make her and Chris proud.

emjay 05-24-2009 04:56 PM

Discussing her potential future? That sounded kinda scary... yet fun at the same time. Tentatively, Mariel raised her hand. "I'll volunteer, Professor."

Syd 05-24-2009 05:00 PM

Feeling a bit daring today, and also feeling pretty sure that someone else would volunteer, Kel raised his hand. "I'll volunteer," he offered.

Felixir 05-24-2009 05:01 PM

Noticing that three others had already volunteered, Jake shook his head to clear it so he could focus. "If you need another, Professor, I won't mind," he commented.

cashdoubleena 05-24-2009 05:02 PM

Alana was begining to get quite interested in this subject. "I'll volunteer" she said raising her hand. She simply couldn't wait till the end of the term to know the full extent of her life's Path.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 05-24-2009 05:04 PM

Herminny tentatively raised her hand and said, "I'll volunteer", even though she really didn't want to she knew the deficit of her house was great and house points may come from volunteering and she was gonna do anything she could to get Gryffindor out of the deficit.

Professor Shackleton pointed to Demetria and explained to the class, "We'll start with Ms. Weasley as our first volunteer, and depending on the amount of time remaining in class, we'll hopefully be able to get to a few more volunteers as well."

Turning to Demetria, Macadrian requested, "Ms. Weasley, please post your calculations of your Life Path Number on the blackboard for all the class to see. Once you complete that, please read from your textbook the corresponding explanation for your Life Path Number, found in Chapter Six."

fredsgirl81293 05-24-2009 05:17 PM

Demetria jumped up from her seat with her Arithmancy textbook and walked over to the chalkboard. "Yes, ma'am." she began writing her calculations.

8=8
1+2=3
2+0+5+5=12; 1+2=3

8+3+3= 14; 1+4=5

As she finished up her work, she opened up her textbook and began reading the explanation for the number 5.

"Number five says, 'You'll have many forks along your path and you'll welcome each change as a new opportunity with unknown results. Change is key and once you've learned this lesson, you'll move on to the next phase - championing freedom. You're progressive and super-resourceful, which make you equally good at many different trades. Career/vocation options include working with the public, advertising, publicity, or sales - any kind of work that calls for energizing power rather than routine. Travel is well-suited to you.'"
She looked up from her book to Professer Shackleton. "Does this mean I would be good as a shopkeeper?" she asked.

She looked up from her book to Professer Shackleton. "Does this mean I would be good as a shopkeeper?" she asked.

Professor Shackleton contemplated her question, then gave her opinion, "I certainly think a career as a shopkeeper could be consistent with the description of working with the public, advertising, publicity and sales. I think there are also a number of other careers that would match that description as well."

Professor Shackleton turned her attention to the class, "I'd like for anyone who wishes to partake in the discussion to try to interpret the book's description for Demetria and how it describes the road she'll take, her talents and abilities, and/or possible career options that match the book's list. Go ahead. Discuss!"

emjay 05-24-2009 05:38 PM

Mariel listened intently to the Gryffindor girl's readings of her number as well as Professor Shackleton's opinion and imploration of the class discussion. Thinking for a moment, she raised her hand. "It sounds to me that she won't be happy stuck in one place. Maybe she'll move from job to job - not necessarily in an aimless way, but maybe in a more progressive way. Like always striving for bigger and better things. She won't be happy in an entry-level job, which will push her into always striving for something better after she learns all she can in that position and the ones after that."

Syd 05-24-2009 05:38 PM

Kel frowned as he reread the paragraph from the book. Change is the key... Getting an idea, he raised his hand.

"Is it saying that change will do her good? To keep doing different things...enjoy her freedom?" he looked at Shackleton curiously, wondering about the answer he'd just given. His number was the same as the Gryffie girl's...it was kinda weird how #5 talked about freedom, when this year, Kel had actually gained real freedom...

Slytherin Princess 05-24-2009 05:39 PM

Ruby listened and looked in her book and raised her hand and said "by the sounds of the career she might be suited to become and Auror as it says "any kind of work that calls for energizing power rather than routine. Travel is well-suited to you.'" she could do well in the ministy aswell?""

Brant wrote his answers down on his Parchment. But he seemed to have alot of trouble with it, everything seemed backwards to him and he didn't know why. Raising his hand he waited for the Professor to get to him for he badly needed some help.

Paintbrush 05-24-2009 05:44 PM

Natka read the description in the book carefully once again, before voicing her opinion. She found it rather challenging to interpret the book's explanation properly, but she did the best nevertheless, smiling at Demetria as she did so.

"I think that the first part, which emphasises the importance of change, means that you'll have quite a colourful life. It could mean changing jobs, or living quarters, countries even, or it could mean chaning social circles and friends, I'm not sure about that. In any case, it seems to say that once you get used to making these changes and ambrace them of sorts, you'll be happy with this lifestyle.

The fact that you're so resourceful probably means you'll have more than one type of job, or perhaps the same type of job just in a different place, which is probably the most likely thing that will be changing in your life, as I said before.

So, your resourcefulness and creativity allow you to work well with people, and this sort of job is never boring, as whoever you might meet at your job will be different. And the fact that travel suits you only emphasises your tendency to change things in your life - this would refer to changing countries.

Looks like creativity, resourcefullness and the ability to communicate well with people are included in your talents, and as for career options... shopkeeper perhaps, or a travel journalist/writer maybe?

Anyway, it looks like you're up for an interesting life, Dem,"
Natka winked at her, still smiling, before turning to look at Professor Shackleton.

Felixir 05-24-2009 05:48 PM

Aaaaaaaaand his brain was now barbequed. Rubbing the side of his head to get of a monumental headache that had just prung up, Jake raised his hand and looked to Professor Macadrian. "Erm, Professor... could you please rephrase what we have to do?" he asked, neither embarrassed nor ashamed about being confused. It happened.

cashdoubleena 05-24-2009 05:49 PM

Alana listened to Dem's explanation of her Life Number. "Hey Dem," Lana said. "Maybe you would be good as a curse breaker. I mean I'm sure they travel a lot and never do the same thing. It migt be a good idea"

fredsgirl81293 05-24-2009 06:14 PM

Demetria smiled at all the jobs being named. "I would definatly be happy with any of those. They all sound like fun."

JackW092 05-24-2009 06:19 PM

Jack was a bit confused so he raised his hand and asked " Professor, can you explain what we have to do again please?"

alicecullenrocks 05-24-2009 06:31 PM

Shaunee smiled as she listened to her classmates discussion back before Hogwarts maths was her favourite subject so she had really been looking forward to Arithmancy. But her shyness had over whelmed her, as usual.
She glanced down at her parchment to check over her working.
Shaunee Hale
29th August 2057
8=8
29=2+9=11=1+1=2
2057=2+5+7=14=1+4=5
8+2+5=15=1+5=6

So her life path number is 6, Shaunee opened her book to read what it had to say about her future. Shaunee hoped the Professor called on her as she wanted some deeper understanding of what the book had told her but she was too frightened to raise her hand.

Yusrieee 05-24-2009 06:36 PM

Sydney quickly followed Prof. Shackleton order & started calculating her Life Path Number.

Quote:

October 28, 2057
10/28/2056

1+0 = 1
2+8 = 10, 1+0 = 1
2+0+5+7 = 14, 1 + 4 = 5

Answer:
5+1+1 = 8
After calculating her Life Path Number, Sydney opened her textbook to see the meaning behind the no. 8.

Quote:

You are efficient, organized, and a hard worker. Serious and goal-minded, you can be depended upon to carry through with obligations. Your tendency is to take on more and more responsibility. Use your ability to delegate authority to keep from becoming over-burdened. Your excellent managerial skills and your drive for success and control will place you at the top of your chosen profession. You can become fascinated with your own power and will be attracted to others of great power. For maximum growth you must remain humble and thankful for the respect and trust that others place in you.

Your challenge is one of right use of power. Be aware of what you are willing to sacrifice to get to the top. Leadership and success are yours when you harness and temper your tremendous drive for achievement and recognition. It will be yours if you are patient and understanding of the real responsibility of being able to exert your will over others.
She patiently waited for the professor to judge her work.

XxX.BettingOnMe.XxX 05-24-2009 07:26 PM

Trixie was momentarily confused but then she got it. She quickly scribbled down her working for her master number, it read:

1st April 2057

4/1/2057

4=4

1=1

2+0+5+7= 7+7= 14= 1+4= 5

So 4+1+5= 10= 1+0= 1

Her number was one. She ruffled open her book and searched for the meaning of her number. She jotted it down. She wrote:

You are very justice oriented and would do well in a career with justice of the peace or a lawyer. Although many cultures view six as sinful, it is the symbol for equilibrium and uniting of the six existences. You are very detailed and thirst for knowledge. You are also very stubborn. Your number is depicted as Justice, as you rule with what is right, rather than what is fair. You have a hard time practicing with what you preach. You are a natural born leader, even if those leadership talents haven't been developed yet. You have the power and self confidence to succeed in life, and your power grows daily. Besides power, you also have a great deal of creativity that enables you to innovate instead of fail. You are a visionary, seeing the big picture instead of all of the trivial little details.

Trixie hoped that she had got the readings correct. She raised her hand and patiently waited for the teacher to attend to her.

Saz Hale 05-24-2009 07:30 PM

Kevin was still a bit confused he had done the work on his parchment but couldnt make head or tail of it

Mugglemad 05-24-2009 07:43 PM

Victoria was sitting at the back of the room trying to figure out the sum, she was also rubbish with maths.
