Dropping his arm holding the bat he swung it idly, feeling his muscles relax.

Celandine watched him swing his bat and then idly listened as Drake chatted with Professor Lawson and... oh yeah the band thing. Celandine gave her professor a knowing little smile and turned her attention back to Drake and his arms once Professor Lawson had left.

"Could you sign me sir? I'd just love to have a beater on each arm!" Maxie, Cat and Matt

He scowled at Fyo. "You gave it to me. It was now mine. And I'll go with you to get chocolate if we get a frame first." He crossed his arms over his chest and looked at Alice. "And I'm willing to be nice to her still too." Even though that's a chore.

Then suddenly Reese was handing him back the autograph before leaving. "Thank you!" he called out to her happily before stuffing the paper into his pocket. He gave Fyo a triumphant look before saying, "and not to the frame store!" YAY

Daphne blinked and nodded. Physics? Jack was physically attractive. That made sense. Of course. She grinned.

"Wait, WHAT?" Jack asked again, quite certain he hadn't heard correctly. A DUCK? Had Kapoor gone loopy? That was by far one of the weirdest assignments he had ever heard of. "But--why would anyone want to teach a DUCK, of all animals, to do that?" he asked in shock.

THIS was precisely why he despised the subject. It was all a bunch of nonsense.

"I think the duck will be more interested in eating the cards, to be honest," he said to her with a little sigh. "And erm...what purpose is training a duck supposed to serve, exactly?" he asked.

As he waited for her to reply, he started to notice that there were some strange, non-verbal exchanges going on between Reese and Daphne. Did these two have some sort of past rivalry that he was unaware of? No, they had only just met, he had seen them introduce themselves...maybe they were just being weird. After all, girls WERE awfully loony sometimes.

"I don't knooow," whined Daphne with a flourish of her hand, thankful that someone besides herself felt such outrage towards the DUCK. "It was all fine and dandy. We were drawing birds," informed Hopton quickly drawing a pretend finch in the air with her finger. "And then he pulls out this huuuge box and pours out all these...these...ducklings!" Which all the girls seemed to love. "To be honest, I'm not quite sure," she finished with a defeated sigh. "I admit. I wasn't entirely paying attention in that class."

The only reason she had signed up for Divination was because it was her Father's subject of choice. She thought he'd be excited when in truth, he wasn't all that bothered about it.

"I think I'm going to go now. I'll just let you and, erm, Daphne talk for a bit," she told him. She looked towards the girl and smiled. "I'll see you later," she added. She turned on her heels and headed towards the door, but then she noticed Fyo and Torin. And, by the looks of it, Fyo had an autograph from Bunbury. Doubting that was HIS autograph, since it looked like Torin was upset about something and it had to be because Fyo took his autograph. Why else would Torin look upset? She headed over to the two boys and quickly grabbed the autograph from Fyo. "I'll have this," she said. She handed the autograph to Torin. "There you go, Kane," she told him. She smiled at her friend, then she left the tent and headed back to the castle.

"Bye," chirped Daphne, her mood lightening as she wiggled manicured fingers at the girl's retreating form. "She's lovely, isn't she?"

Jack nodded in agreement before grinning. "Yeah, I slightly remember that class--I was in the back of the room and managed to fall asleep with Kapoor catching me," he admitted. There were so many other things that Jack could be doing during his Divination time slot, and one of those things happened to be sleeping. He wasn't going to use crystal balls or tarot cards in real life anytime soon, so it wasn't like he was missing out or anything.

"So do you just...have a duck chilling in your dorm now?" he asked with a wrinkled eyebrow. That idea seemed a little absurd...maybe Kapoor had kept the birds in his tower and they had to visit every once in a while.

His thoughts were interrupted as Reese suddenly announced she was leaving. Oh boo. Jack suddenly felt sorry that he had been neglecting her, but...Daphne had distracted him with her duckling story! "Oh, ok, bye Reese!" he called as she started to walk away. He turned back to Daphne and nodded, unable to hide the blush that started to creep up on his cheeks.

"Yeah, she is really pretty, and erm...nice," he added, so it would make it seem like he was just complimenting her. In a friendly, platonic sort of way.

Oh, so he had slept through the class? That explained why she hadn't noticed him then. Had he spent the entire term hiding in the back of classrooms sleeping time away? HMPH! That hobby would have to be nipped in the bud. "He's living underneath my bed," confessed Daphne with slight irritation. "Professor Kapoor said it's neigh impossible getting rid of the duckling once he has," and she paused to raise her fingers, using them as quotation marks. "...imprinted on you'. Whatever that even means."

Then, without realizing what she had done, her innocent remark had made him blush. Frowning, Daphne glanced down at her fingers pretending to be deeply interested in her well taken care of cuticles. "She had this huge," and obnoxious. "Sign during the match. She must really like you. Have you two been together long?"

Because that what it seemed like at the moment. Another couple.

Where was Celly?!

druidflower 07-15-2009 01:43 AM

Okay... curiosity was getting the better of her.

Half the school seemed to be in the Autograph tent... and she didn't like to socialize, but she DID like to know... EVERYTHING.

So naturally she wanted to know what was happening.

Showered and properly dressed, and an Impervious Charm on her boots, Caroline snuck into the tent to see what was happening.

Because she had no interest at all in WHO was in it. It was all about WHAT was going on.

Which is why she went to Drake Warren's table first...?

Tell me where?" she wouldnot mind the place as long it was not autograph tent. Meh..

She saw him dragging Torin too. My Goodness. But all the chocolate talks made her zip her mouth atleast for a while from protesting against it.

"Somewhere in the grounds?" Fyo suggested, linking his arm in Butterfly's. The lake, maybe? Well, he could do with a swim. Buttt... the pathway sounded more appealing, yes. "Let's go to the ole pathway," he said finally.

Of course he didn't mean that.

"You wait - I'll tell Professor Bunbury you snatched it from me," he said coolly, walking out of the tent with Lissy in tow. He obviously wasn't going to tell Bunbury that, but he hoped the threat would at least make Torin feel a bit worried.

Alice's mouth fell open slightly at Torin's words. He was trying and willing tobe nice to her. Aw. I mean Awwww. She looked at his face and then his eyes. It seemed telling the truth. Good.

Alice smiled mostly to herself, just 'cuz she was not still fully recovered from that earlier happening.

Alice's face brightened up at Fyo's acceptance. She nodded and looked at their linked arms smilingly. She was home again. Safely. "Okay, wherever you want." she titled her head slightly, smirking adorably.

"Oh nice to meet ya, Karma." It seemed all the ladies loved the Irish accent and his bright smile. He knew it was coming close to an end of their tour here at Hogwarts and so he had to wrap things up as quickly as possible.

"There ya go." Kip smiled, handing the bat back to the petite girl.

Well isn't she a charmer
he thought smiling down at her and nodding. "I'd be happy to love. It's not everyday I get to sign a beautiful girls arm after all." okay well it was kind of a small tinsy lie but he was sure she wouldn't be able to tell. Tilting his head to one side he took the preoffered quill, rolling his sleeves up to make it easier. They were expensive after all right?

"Oh really? Well let's see how I do then." he replied as he gently took her arm in his hand, his thumb ever so gracefully caressing the skin as he began writing,

To the most beautiful girl at Hogwarts,

You know you're my favorite right?

With a flourish of the quill he handed it back to her with a sly wink of his own. "There yah go love." he said looking over his handy work and nodding.

Ooooops!

Hadn't thought of THAT, didja Caroline?

"I... uh.. was looking for Tino, and Lars... and Anastasia..." she let the name come out like one might say scrubbing the bed pans, "They need to be checked out..."

Leaning against the table and crossing his legs he eyed her boots. Yup high maitenence just like he thought. "So, really, you just came to see me." he said matter of factly.

Oh yeah he was high of himself all right.

Temper rose in her quickly. It may not have been entirely far from the truth but she certainly wasn't going to admit it.

She had loads of some pride.

Caroline placed her hands on her hips and raised her chin. "Well don't you just think highly of yourself?" she replied haughtily. "I have a Draught of Humility that will set you right if you are interested."

Avalon - 1; Warren - 0.

She was keeping score, so she decided when the competition began. It was right that instant.

Drake smirked, he could play this little game of hers. Rolling his shoulders he shrugged, as if bored with her reply. He shook his head,

"Nah I'm good. I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself picking up the potion." He replied slyly. Ok, so it wasn't the best retort out there, but Drake wasn't getting paid to give out retorts. He was paid to hit Bludgers and win games.

But for right now, he was more interested in riling her up. and he was doing a good job at it too.

One eyebrow arched dangerously.

She wondered if he thought her too waiflike to throw the potion at his head.

"Bit rich coming from the man who let his team lose to a bunch of amateurs, because of a little shoulder injury," she replied scathingly.

Wow, okay how was he going to handle this? Time for the piece de-resistance he thought as he replied, "Perhaps I would have done better if the field wasn't up to standards. What's the deal with the squishy field anyway?" He asked scowling as he remembered the squishy feeling. "Are your pipes broken again?" He asked smirking.

Ok comeback time he thought giving her a thorough look. Wiggling his eyebrows at her he began to taunt, "You like me, you wanna hug me." he mock sang, acting rather childish. "That's true as I'm very much aware. But you have to kick off the ground and if you can't get good leverage, well you throw your game off." he stated, as if it were the simpliest answer imaginable.

He smirked, waiting for his words to hit her. Trying not to laugh, he watched as her eyes turned into dinner plates. Aha! His plan had worked. "You have very pretty eyes." he complimented her before adding in a soft voice, "Almost like sapphires, but much more beautiful."

Now he was trying very hard not to laugh as she stamped her foot. Yes, the almighty nurse had stamped her foot like a child! Score! "That may be true, but you still can't deny you like me." he added, fully enjoying himself.

Inside Caroline was snarling. A very unladylike snarl. And maybe on the inside too, there was a part of her that was listening. But on the outside she deaf to what she considered Pro-Quidditch Ego.

On the outside she had her eyebrow raised again and her arms crossed in front of her.

Can't deny she liked him? She'll show denying she liked him. "Just watch me!"

She swung one of her feet (clad in the boots he liked so much) out to kick him in the shin.

Okay, so perhaps he should have laid off the taunting for a moment or two to allow himself to laugh inside his head.

He watched her closely for any signs that she'd pounce him to attack him. He didn't expect her to kick him though. Okay, well maybe he did.

Since he was basically pinned against the table he had no choice but to be kicked. "Ow." he said lifting up his leg and rubbing his shin.

"You know what it means if you attacked me, right?" he continued to taunt his face showing just how much he was enjoying this.

"Aww, that's kind of cute," Jack teased. A duckling living under Daphne's bed...if only the boys were allowed in the girls dorms, because that was definitely a first in Gryffindor tower, and he wanted to seeeee! "Well, I think that means that once they hatch or something, the first person they see is who they consider to be their mom. So, looks like you've got yourself a baby duckling to take care of! And to think--who'd have thought your first born would have feathers and a beak?" he asked with a grin.

He wondered for a moment if she would be mad at him for joking around--after all, she probably didn't find the situation nearly as hilarious as he did. Darn.

"Oh, erm, right," he said as the conversation got awkward once again. It had never occurred to him how obvious that sign would be to everyone else. Gulp. If there was one thing Jack didn't need right now, it was people gossiping about his personal life. "Well, yeah, I saw it and I thought it was nice--and we're not a couple," he added hastily. Not that I don't WANT to be a couple. "We're just like...um...I don't even know. Friends. We're just friends at the moment," he told her. He didn't need this to turn into another conversation like the one he had had with Torin. AWKWARDDD.

Direct Hit!

There was some definite glee chasing itself around inside her head.

Tilting his head to one side he took the preoffered quill, rolling his sleeves up to make it easier. They were expensive after all right?

"Oh really? Well let's see how I do then." he replied as he gently took her arm in his hand, his thumb ever so gracefully caressing the skin as he began writing,

Quote:

To the most beautiful girl at Hogwarts,

You know you're my favorite right?

D. Warren
With a flourish of the quill he handed it back to her with a sly wink of his own. "There yah go love." he said looking over his handy work and nodding.

Cela beamed and checked her arm out. Awesome. Both autographs were awesome. She smiled at the healer when she came over and while they were...

... were they fighting or flirting? Cela imagined that Professor Truebridge wouldn't be impressed since Caroline Avalon was supposed to be going out with him right? Thats what she'd said, right?

In anycase, while Drake was distracted, Celandine took her quill back and since his sleeves were already rolled up, she took his arm and gently wrote on it with her permanent ink quill :

Quote:

Drake,

Flex for me at your next game!

Celandine Toussaint

Admiring her handiwork (and Drake's arms, of course), Cela looked up at him and as soon as there was a lull in his weird little 'discussion' with the healer, Celandine spoke in a sweet voice, "I bet it isn't every day that a beautiful girl gets to sign your arm either!" She blew him a little kiss and turned on her heel, walking away back to the castle.

He had completely forgotten that Cela was still in the area. If he had known he never would have started the battle of the wills, but once Avalon had shown up, his mind had gone blank and well he forgot anyone was in the tent.

Drake turned his hair back to see the girl admiring his arm and grinned as he looked down at his arm. Wait until his team mates see this he thought his eyes bright with unexpected glee. "No, my teammates will be jealous now." he said as she blew him a kiss, in which he blew one back before tuning his attention back to the battle at hand.

Wiping the look off his face he turned seriously. Yes Drake Warren could turn serious, if he had too.

"Okay, we can run around in circles all night and not get anywhere." he said sincerly, his face now one of utter calmness. "How about we call a truce and start again?" He asked watching her.

Okay seriously it was fun taunting her to the limits but he didn't want to get beaten up. What would his teammates think?

Wait WHAT?

Um.. Hmmmm....

Honestly, she was more comfortable fighting with him. At least in public... She knew how to argue. How do you be social?

She handled the stress of this situation the way she handled most other things: by plunging her hands in her hair and giving the nearest lock a good compulsive twist.

"Okay."

Wait! What do you mean okay!?!??

Drake frowned. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." he said, a slight smile crossing his lips.

Yup, definitely a weird one he thought.

Stuffing his hands inside his pockets, he shuffled his feet, suddenly nervous for some odd reason. It wasn't like he had never done this before; after all he was The!Drake.

"So, how do you like being a healer? Must get busy in the waiting room at times." he said figuring he may as well ask about her work.

Caroline was a suspicious type. The many men she had sent packing, in fairness for no good reason, could attest to that. So naturally she wondered why Drake Warren cared about her job.

"It does get busy," she agreed cautiously. Twist twist twist. "Especially lately with the flooding, but it's nothing I can't handle."

"I suppose," she admitted reluctantly, wrinkling her small nose in the process. Perhaps there was an inkling of cute hidden behidn the duck's bead eyes; Or inside that bright orange beak. Making a distasteful taste at his joke (which completely went over head), Daphne blinked and looked away from Jake pitifully. Her first child...a duck?!

Oh, how the mighty have fallen!

"Friends," quipped Daphne and nodded sagely. That's--what people usually said; until they started kissing secretly behind trees in the orchards and such. At the thought of such inappropriate frivolities, the blond fourth year shuddered. Kissing behind the trees was hardly romantic--according to her in any case. "At the moment would be the key word," added Hopton softly.

What did that even mean? Did he have plans to end that friendship? Or, even change it into something. Blushing she shook her head. Certainly Jack didn't like that Upstead girl that way.

Right? After all he had her to choose. Miss Daphne Hopton. Hopton...anyone? "Oh, well," she sighed suddenly dusting imaginary pollen particles from her shoulders in paranoia of getting her allergies triggered. "Things usually work out at their own pace. Life hardly goes the way you predict it to." Sigh. For example, Isaac Hopton wasn't supposed to have existed.

Ever.

Now his birth had ruined her future plans completely. Her entire life had to reanalyzed. "I have about...three piles of homework to do." Exaggeration. "A silly duck to check on and a floor to scourgify. I'm pretty sure he relieved himself on the next bed again." That girl was going to have another fit. "And...And..." A Celandine to catch! Whyyy did the one guy she even bothered thinking about had to like Reese Upstead. Cela seemed to like her too. Sigh. Pointless. "I'm going. We'll talk more, later. Yes?" finished the blond with a small smile. It wasn't so much a question as a statement. Wiggling her fingers at him she turned around and headed towards the castle in a surprisingly fast pace for someone who would rather prefer not to exert her body at all.

Jack nodded. "Yeah, their own pace..." he repeated, trailing off as he remembered his conversation with Torin. Daphne was totally right, things needed to just take time to develop, rather than being shoved at him in that fateful convo at the cliff. And as for unexpected surprises, Jack had certainly had a fair share of those this term.

He nodded again as she announced she was leaving. "Yeah, definitely...we are in the same house, after all, so bumping into each other shouldn't be too hard, right?" Jack asked with a small smile. "Good luck with the duckling," he added before turning to see if Reese was still around.

Nope. She was gone. Along with a good number of the people who had been here when the tent first opened. Pocketing his autograph, Jack walked out of the tent and back towards the castle.

She was weaving her way toward the door to make a quick exit. It felt like she was a cub being pulled by the scruff of her neck when Professor Lupa pulled her over. She was going to have to gain weight and try out a engorio charm on herself. She squeaked when she saw what Professor Lupa was doing. "Flattered," she repeated in a daze.

"Well the kick didn't hurt that bad." she told him even though she had a bruise on her ribcage to show for the kick. She didn't want him to think she was a baby because she was whining about a little kick.

She grinned when he took her bat and signed it and she blushed when she read what he wrote. "Th-thank you," she stammered. He thought she was a good player, he actually noticed her playing. Even though she was trying to knock him off his broom the whole time.

What a way to boost his ego. Like his ego isn't already on high. "Well I am glad I meet up to your expectations." he smiled. This girl was bloody brilliant. Maybe that was why he was stalling. He didn't want to leave! The look in her eyes told him she felt the same way.

Then she asked him if he wanted a tour of the grounds. Wasn't it flooded? He liked her and everything, but he didn't want to go swimming. Kip wasn't much of a swimmer. Or water all together. "Erm. I would love to, I really would. But I am afraid if I leave the tent it will be time for me to go." he said, giving her a puppy dog look. She didn't want him to leave, did she?

Droo 07-17-2009 12:20 AM

"Oh..." she said biting her lower lip.

Well, that wouldn't do... she didn't want him to leave! "I follow the Falcons fairly closely... but you've always been my favorite player..." she said and summoned two more butterbeers for the table. "Another butterbeer?"

Kip Norwood 07-17-2009 12:26 AM

Kip watched as she began to bite her lower lip. She sure had some plump lips. Wait. Eyes up. "I'm glad! It's a shame I have never seen you at a match before. I would have loved to ask you to dinner sometime." That came out past tense didn't it. Good job Norwood. He just asked her out, for last week. Regroup regroup!

"Yes. Thank you." Kip smiled, taking the other butterbeer. This had to mean she didn't want him to leave, obviously. "So is there a Mr. Lupa?" he asked trying to be sly, as he took a sip from his butterbeer.

Droo 07-17-2009 12:36 AM

Why hadn't she made herself more.... seen! Wait... a Mr. Lupa? She looked around... here at the school? When had her dad come to the school... OH!!!! "Oh no... No, No... There is only one Mr. Lupa, and he's my father, and thankfully, he isn't here." To see me throw myself at you... she thought to herself... and even more thankfully, neither was Papa Valon!

Kip Norwood 07-17-2009 12:44 AM

Kip felt himself smile at her response. So she wasn't taken, she seemed interested, he was going for it. "So what do you think about Italian food? I was thinking about taking a beautiful lady like yourself to a restaurant to get a bite to eat." he said, putting in the charm. Now he waited for the yes or the no.

Droo 07-17-2009 12:51 AM

... was he asking her out? Or... asking her for for the names of good restaurants he can bring a 'beautiful woman like her?'

... Oohhhhh!

Sometimes... Alessia Lupa surprized herself at just how 'blonde' she was...

"I love Italian food!" was all she could think of saying... he was sooooooo pretty! She was getting lost in his eyes.

Kip Norwood 07-17-2009 01:16 AM

"Excellent. How does next Saturday sound?" Kip grinned. Two things he loved most was speghetti and blonds. Yes, yes. This was a great day. Even though they had lost to a group of preteens. Who cares? He just got a date.

"I imagine it would be, with the weird flooding. I heard a few students muttering about it." he replied back, nodding once more. "Have you figured how what it is yet?" He asked, highly curious now.

"I used to spend a lot of time in the hospital wing when I was here. Is there still that creaky blue chair that used to sit in the far right corner?" He asked, remembering the times when he himself had sat there nursing a headache.

Now this put her in a tight spot, either admit she had no idea about something, or admit she was terrified of something. Neither was an acceptable course of action as far as her two most valued traits were concerned: Her Intellect and her Nerve.

"Well it's all very technical, the theories we've been coming up with... I'm sure even if you understood half of the jargon the subject matter would just bore you to death," she said dismissively.

ACK! Conversation. STOPPPITTT!! TWIIIIIIIST!

"Um... I moved it into the Ward. It's my desk chair now," she admitted. Not entirely practical... but she liked it anyway. For reasons outside her comprehension (HA as if there was such a thing) she warmed slightly for his affection to a piece of furniture. And it embarrassed her. Twist.

Drake laughed, crossing his arms around his chest and uncrossing his legs to get more comfortable. "You're right. I hope you get it all sorted out quickly. All the professors here seem smart enough." well some of them anyway he mused silently to himself as he replied, a hint of concern in his voice.

His eyes lit up, "You kept it? I'm surprised but not really. It'd be nice to see the old ward again." he mused, shaking his head. "Perhaps you could take a look at my shoulder, see what the other nurse missed?" He asked before adding "Or you could just smack me on the arm, whichever you feel comfortable with."

He couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow at her hair twisting.

"All right. Autograph time is OVER!" Vindictus finally shouted out of sheer irritation. The professionals were clearly incapable of adhering to a set time for giving autographs and the fliriting with the female Hogwarts Staff members was getting way out of hand. Wand in hand, he used a spell that forced everyone to vacate the tent once and for all.
