Oh.

The eyelash thing was almost as effective as the lip wibble, and Copernicus capitulated in a second. Was he always going to be giving in to the whim of some girl who knew just how to look at him to get her way? It was grossly unfair. He needed to go to an all boys' school STAT.

"Obviously, I don't want to put you into a difficult situation, Prefect Green. I'll... erm... I'd be happy to read the list, unless someone else would prefer to. But I can do it. I can." Was he repeating himself?

He breathed a sigh of relief at Willow's offer. "Oh. Yes, THANK you, Willow. You're on."

Rachel blinked as Plymouth retorted to her and visibly shut down in front of her eyes. He doesn't? But what abou- the fifth year's eyes slid towards the place where Cela was sitting and managed to catch a glimpse of the younger girl's face as she overheard what Plymouth had said. Oh...

Feeling suddenly very awkward, and like an extremely horrible person, Rachel lowered her eyes to the ground and followed a small ant with her eyes as the little creature made it's way across the ground. "Sorry," she said to Plymouth softly, then turned away to watch... er... AHA! watch Mr. Masterson play fetch with his dog.

Daphne watched as Copernicus and Evangeline bounced the responsibility of presenting their sheet back and forth with a bemused expression. Kettleburn's behavior was to be expected, she thought with one hand on her hip and waving a hand as if to agree with her own thoughts. He was known to be an intelligent young man, handsome if she looked at him through squinted eyes but in the end...not exactly the most charming speaker.

"You two could just--split up the list," suggested Daphne, feeling she was echoing someone. But--What was Prefect Green doing and--Rolling her eyes at Copernicus, Daphne sighed dramatically.

Men. They could crack the mysteries of magical science, develop a cure for the worst magical malady but somehow couldn't quite develop an immune system against womanly charms. "You can do it. You're a smart lad," quipped Daphne and clapped him in the back (harder than necessary) as encouragement. "There's really nothing to it. Unless you suddenly break out in sweat and turn green--and puke in front of everyone. That would be mortifying. I don't think you'd ever live it down."

And cue grin.

Lawliet was slightly taken aback by Plymouth's retort of not having a girl, but said nothing. The boy noticed him close his eyes once more, like he had been for most of the lesson and got the strange feeling it wasn't because he was entirely uninterested in the class.

"Er... Plymouth are you quite alright? You've been squeezing your eyes shut for most of the lesson," he asked, sounding slightly concerned rather than anything else.

"And like I said, I don't have a problem with presenting our group's ideas," he added, waving the piece of parchment in his hand. "Thanks for picking me."

Evangeline didn't really think it would work. Wonders of dating a guy SCARED of girls fluttering their eyelashes. Usually, it got Clifford to run and take cover. But it clearly had worked with Copernicus. AWWWWW! He was nice after all! Even if he had tried to duel her last term because Lupa had attempted to steal her boyfriend, he was nice! And not all crazy like all the Ravenclaws she knew.

Better not say that too loud.

"Thank you, Copernicus! And please, call me Evangeline." Suuure, she like being called Prefect Green, but it got tiring after a while. Still beaming gratefully at the Ravenclaw boy, Evangeline heard Willow offer herself. Even better! Someone who actually wanted to go read that list. "Perfect. I think that's perfect. Don't you think it's perfect, Daphne?" Yes, Evangeline was overly happy.

Wonders of escaping a somewhat awkward situation. And hey - she hadn't even needed to apparate outta there!

"Don't be shy, boys and girls. I still need four group members, one from each group, to volunteer to present your ideas. Just come on forward and let me know you'll be presenting. Don't forget to let me know which group you're in, as well," she said, eyeing the students. They couldn't be this shy, could they? Surely there were one, two, or hopefully four energetic ones in the bunch... "If you're having trouble deciding, let me know, and I'll just come along and choose a group member at random."

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Masterson playing catch with his clearly faithful dog. She smiled at him, thinking what a great father he'd be. "Just a few more minutes, Neo! I'll call for you when I'm ready..."

On her way through the 'classroom', Bella heard a Slytherin boy, one who'd been really active throughout the course of the lesson, speak up. "I don't know about you, dear, but I wouldn't be caught anywhere without my wand. Especially not while traveling from place to place," she said, with a knowing smile. "However, to answer your question, apparating is a non-verbal spell, activated simply through following the correct steps to apparate. While it's not something you would cast with a wand...as in, say, a spell or something of that sort...I still wouldn't leave my wand behind."

OOC: Alright, guys. This is it for the night. I'll resume the lesson around 4 EST tomorrow, as that seemed to be a good time for everyone today. Go ahead and roleplay having the group members come to the front, though. We'll start the presentations tomorrow. Thank you soooo much, everyone, for a great first half of the lesson! We have a reallly fun game planned for the second half, then we'll close the lesson sometime tomorrow.

Daniel cleared his throat and said, "I think we should scratch the more challenging part, if that is alright." he said looking at the others. "I think that is not a justifiable means of why we use apparition as a mode of travel." he said looking for any violent reaction from the group of people that is older and more experienced than he is. But he isn't afraid to speak his mind for he thinks that is correct.

Chris stood up from his group and whispered to them. "Hey guys I will do it ok?" he said looking especially to Cela, who said she defnately didn't want to.

Chris walked to the frint of the 'class' and adressed Mrs. Greingoth. "Hello I am going to be presenting for Group 2" he said with a smile. She looked a lot like Anna!

"Thanks." Celandine murmured, her eyes still on Plymouth.

Ugh.

The gryffindor prefect was...... quick. Shumeeta shrugged to herself as he suggested himself for the presentation, and immediately followed that suggestion by actin' upon it and goin' to the front. Oh welll he might be good. "Good luck," she said politely and noddin' to herself, she settled back.

Since no one was really wanting to go first, Lawliet got up with his piece of parchment in one hand and a bottle of water in the other, and headed to the front of the "classroom". The boy stumbled over his own robe as he was walking and couldn't help but wonder if he was getting shorter? Surely, the robes fit perfectly on him. That or he somehow managed to pack his brother's robes instead of his own...

When he was at the front of the class, he introduced himself to the instructor. "Hello Mrs. Greingoth, I'm Lawliet, fourth year Slytherin student and I will be presenting for group one," he said, giving her a smile and pointing to the rest of the group.

"I've been thoroughly enjoying your lesson so far," he added in a quiet whisper to the instructor and gave her a small wink.

Talking in front of a crowd was seriously NOT a big deal, but clearly Copernicus Kettleburn and Evangeline Green disagreed with her. Really, shouldn't Evangeline, like the prefect she was, be used to speak in public? Prefects did have to give speeches once in a while, after all. Right?

Ah, whatever. Good thing someone in the group didn't mind doing it.

"Who's Daphne?" Absently, as she curled a strand of chocolate hair between her fingers, Willow asked. Oh. Was Daphne the visibly younger Gryffindor girl? Quite possibly. And, apparently, seeing that Evangeline knew the girl's name and that Daphne was talking to Copernicus, the only person that was not familiar with the Gryffindor was her. Huh.

Shrugging this off and giving the Daphne person one last look, Willow took the list and went to stand up in the front. Now, hopefully the Gryffindor prefect was going before her would not take an eternity. Willow did not like waiting.

"Ahhh, Mr. Potter. Thank you for coming forward. I see group two has prepared a really nice list," she said, glancing over and taking a peek at what he had in his hand. "You just stay up here and wait for the other three presenters, and we'll get started in just a moment." Well, at least she knew one of the students wasn't shy. She was beginning to worry that she'd have to travel the room and choose the presenters herself. It was nice to have volunteers, though.

"...and here's presenter number two---for group number one. You've been enjoying them? I'm delighted. I aimed to make this as exciting as possible for you all," she said, returning the boy's smile. "You just stand right up there by Mr. Potter, and we'll get started soon." So if Mr. Potter was here for group number two, and Mr. Lawliet...was that his surname?...was here for group number one, then all that was missing was a presenter from the last two groups. She glanced around the area, looking for any sign of a student or two coming forward.

As a third student, a girl this time, approached the front of the room, Bella assumed she was one of the two missing group members. Now she didn't say her name...or group number...but perhaps Bella could place her. Hadn't she heard her classmates call her..."Mrs. Kovak, group four, yes? Take a place next to our other two volunteers, and we'll just wait for someone from group three to come forward. Shouldn't be too long now..."

Lucas just finished the last thing he wanted to write on the piece of parchment for his group and looked up at his group members so as to find who was going for the presentation.
"No one!" Lucas was pretty surprised. After a moment when no one spoke he decided that if it had to be someone why not him. Atleast it'd be better than getting randomly selected by Mrs. Greingoth when he'd be prepared for it at all. He took a huge breat and said, "Okay I'm going," to his group and stood up to walk towards Mrs. Greingoth.

He reached there desperately hoping that his presentation was good enough.
"I'm Lucas ma'am. I'm representing group three." He said to her and went to stand besides the other three.

Dominic had been very distracted as he sat there in group three listening to his other team members tossing up ideas. They had very good ideas, but he was feeling mostly ridiculous because he didn't know any of the members in his group.

There were evidently two gryffindor boys, Lucas and Chris, he believed he caught onto their names. And then well he did sort of know the Ravenclaw Prefect, Jack Jones, by affiliation. Sort of. Not really. Met on one or two occasions. The final member though; a girl and slytherin from the crest on her names was what made him angsty. Her name was apparently 'Willow', which just made it harder for him to concentrate. Because the Willow he knew first; the Ravenclaw Captain Willow, was in a different group.

And it shouldn't have been a big deal. Really, it shouldn't have. It wasn't like they were a couple. But it was. And it was just name.

But then, they were calling up presenters and no one volunteered... No one except some boy named Lucas. OH NO!! He had contributed most of the reasons; he didn't have to present too! Dominic felt terrible. Shaking his head, he just stood up and followed Lucas up towards the lady, Bella Greingoth.

Greingoth. Hmm... OH! ANNA GREINGOTH!!! Which meant that this lady was related to her!! And if memory served him right, then she used to serve ice cream at Florean's. Yess... So then? She was skilled in Apparition too? Interesting.

Right. Back to Lucas. Reaching the Gryffindor boy - the only one who was about his age - as he was sure the others were younger, "Lucas." Dominic sighed. He wanted to do something to be a part of his group, but taking it away from Lucas, just seemed selfish. Ridiculous.

He couldn't do that.

"Nevermind."

Lucas was turned towards Mrs. Greingoth and was introducing himself when he heard someone call his name right behind him. It wasn't Chris because he would've recognised the voice but it was someone else. Lucas turned and saw that it was the Huffie prefect. It seemed like he had something to say to Lucas. Well why else would he follow me up here. Lucas thought to himself. Maybe it has someting to do with the presentation.

"Hey, Dominic, right? You want to do the presentation?" Lucas asked Dominic.Yes, I think that's his name. "Because if you want to it's totally okay with me. I'm not comfortable with this thing too." He added hoping that he'd stepped on the right place.

Jack was quite willing to let somebody else take charge of the presentation. He just wanted to practice and would patiently wait until they had the opportunity.

"...and here's our presenter from group three now. Let's see, we have someone from Slytherin, someone from Ravenclaw, and two of you from Gryffindor. Go ahead and stand up front with our presenters," she said to Lucas, "but let me see if we can get a student from Hufflepuff to join you." Bella turned and smiled at the four presenters who'd come forward. A few of them looked sort of nervous...or, well, maybe all of them did a little...but she had no doubts that they'd all do just fine.

"Mr. Denton! Why don't you gather some of your group's notes, as well, and come join Mr. Bordin. With you, we'll have someone from each of the four houses," she said, turning to make sure of what she was saying. Yes, yes, the Slytherin boy...Mrs. Kovak, a Ravenclaw...Mr. Potter, a Gryffindor...and then the two who'd just been called on to come forward from group three. Yes, all four houses had someone up and presenting.

"Alright, we'll go ahead and get started with our presentations, then. I want you to listen as each student is speaking, as I want you to start thinking outside the box when it comes to knowing when it's best to Apparate," she said, addressing the class as a whole. "I'm sure after your group discussions, you see now how Apparition is used for a lot more than just fast travel. It's also likely the presenters from groups other than your own will give you additional ideas, as well. After our presenters are done, we'll briefly discuss splinching, then before we're dismissed, Mr. and Mrs. Masterson and myself have a little game planned. Presenters, you may begin when you're ready."

OOC: Just giving the presenters a bit of time to get online and post. We'll resume the lesson at 4 EST. Also, DanialRadFAN01 PMed me and said he had to leave at 1 PM EST for two days, so someone else from his group can feel free to come forward and speak.

Once the instructor gave them permission to start speaking, he cleared his throat before doing so.

"Hello, I'm Lawliet, fourth year Slytherin student and I was with group one and will be doing the group presentation." After his short introduction, he took a small sip of water before continuing. The Slytherin boy shifted over towards the chalkboard in case he needed to use it.

"One of the most apparent and strongest reasons as to why people need to apparate would be in case of emergencies. For example, if someone is hurt and you needed to get to them right away - what better and faster way to do so than by apparition! ...Which brings me to my next two points: it's the fastest form of transportation and also the most convenient one. You go from one place to another almost instantly and it's not complicated to use, unlike the Floo Network where you need a fireplace and Floo, flying which requires a broom or even a Portkey which you cannot set up unless you have permission to do so from the Ministry of Magic," Lawliet spoke, quite confidently and without really looking at his parchment.

He paused momentarily to catch his breath and then he spoke again. "Apparition is very useful in self-defense but also, in offense at the same time, when dueling or otherwise. When you are in a dangerous position, you are able to disapparate, making it a very clean, and fast way of getting out of danger's way and when you need to take someone down, you can do so much easier if you can apparate quietly around them," he continued, trying not to lose his voice. It was overwhelming for him to speak so much at once as he didn't do it very often. "To add to self-defense and ways it could save your life, you can use apparition if you get lost and can't find your way back to your house. This, however, would not work if someone else were to get lost and you'd go rescue them as you need to know a location to some extent before using apparition there."

Lawliet scanned over the piece of parchment once more where he wrote his notes down and spoke again. "There's also side-along apparition which one needs to take into consideration. Side-along apparition is when two people or more apparate together. Some reasons behind why people would use side-along apparition would be that if someone was injured and they couldn't get to a hospital by themselves, someone else would be able to help them apparate in the hospital or somewhere nearby, depending on the anti-apparition spells that are cast around the premises."

The boy gave a small cough and took another drink of his water. "It could be used when you need time alone to think by yourself or do homework or when you want to go and explore new places and find out more about other cultures, but there are also other uses for it which are not exactly... conventional, but could definitely work," he said, chuckling. Without going any further, he grabbed a piece of chalk and started drawing something on the board. It couldn't be seen at first but as a couple of minutes passed, it became pretty understandable. Once he was finished, he moved aside so everyone could see the chalkboard properly.

"Now, as we can see in this drawing, one may use apparition and splinching to their advantage. If you splinch off your hair, you result not only in a very cheap haircut, but it will also leave you lots of money to buy other things rather than paying for someone to cut your hair," he said, pointing to the drawing. Though it wasn't exactly a piece of art, he was quite proud of it.

"There's also the fact that it can be used to sneak up on people. In the Muggle world, these people called 'paparazzi' go around and take pictures of Muggle celebrities - and someone in my group suggested - why not use it in the wizarding world to sneak up and take pictures of someone you fancy. I mean, it's not exactly polite and you're treading on invading people's privacy, but at the same time they can use apparition as well to disapparate from you which is a good way to get away from stalkers or people who keep following you," he said with a small shrug.

The boy paused again for a second and debated in his head whether or not to add the part about robbing Muggle banks. In the end, he decided not to as it was entirely inappropriate and he wasn't too sure the Department Head of Magical Transportation would be entirely too please with the suggestion as it might give others ideas or even get them in trouble.

"And that's everything we have from our group notes," he said finally. Once done his presentation, Lawliet went back and took a seat on the log, joining the rest of his group once again.

After Mrs. Greingoth gave the okay for the presentations to start, Lucas was thinking weather to go first or not but before he could decide the Slytherin boy went forward.

That kid was good. Lucas thought after the presentation. Okay time for me to step up. Lucas took his position besides the chalkboard. He didn't have any ideas to use it currently but maybe he'd need it.

He took a deep breath and took a look around the class. This is awkward."Hey guys. I'm Lucas Henry Bordin. Sixth Year and I'd be giving you a presentation of group 3." He said with a smile. He was pretty surprised to know that once he'd started speaking he was beginning to feel comfortable.

"So, Reasons to Apparate. Now, we all know that it's the most common means of transportation among the wizarding world, but why is that?" He paused here. He'd heard form some of his teachers that the most effective way of getting someone'e attention is to start with a question. "It's because it's the most easy and convenient way. As Mrs. Greingoth just said," he gestured towards her," we don't even need a wand to apparate. Secondly, time is a key factor why the wizarding community is so fond of doing it. We humans always have this urge to do everything that takes less time so apparation has become a custom to those who have access to it." Lucas said ruling muggles out.

He took a look at his parchment and continued."Now coming to the most obvious reasons. First, there are no boundaries. You can travel from one place to any other in the world. It's not like the machines that muggles use because I've heard that they need something they call Petrol to put in it. Which may run out eventually and it is even better than flying on animals because the poor things need rest too." Lucas was smiling now. He didn't want to deliver those boring presentations. He was going to make it as fun as he could.

"And ofcourse it helps in emergency situations and there can be lots of them. You maybe getting late from office or you're late at someone's wedding and then there's side along apparation which has infinite benifits as well. Apparently it's not a bad option when you want to leave your little brother on a deserted island when he's bugging you too much." Lucas glanced at Chris because he's already shared this with him. "No, seriously.You can help someone who's in need of a healer with side along apparation or you could help an underage kid." Lucas stopped once again to look at his parchment. He was smiling inside because he thought that he was doing a pretty nice job.

"Now, coming forward. There are numerous other reasons. It's the cheapest means of travel. You don't need any money to go on a fun trip now do you? And further more, as Lawliet said, you can't get lost. Whenever you tend to, you just do the proper steps and POP. You're back in your frontyard." Lucas took another deep breath and continued."And also you can save yourself from serious injuries too. Whenever you're falling you can apparate in midair. Now, you'd all be thinking that that's impossible. It's not. It's difficult, yes, but not impossible because history tells us that we have an account where not one but two people apparated in midair. I've read in books that Harry Potter and Hermione Granger dived out of a window in Harry Potter's home in Godric's Hollow when they were being chased by Lord Voldemort himself." Lucas folded his piece of parchment and looked at the class.

"And that's about it. I mean that's all what me and my group could gather." He said smiling and went back to the logs to sit with Chris.

Willow's eyes moved to look at Dominic who appeared to have been in a bit of a trance while they were brainstorming ideas. Perhaps Will should have done the same thing.. her contribution had been utterly pathetic... but the two Gryffies seemed to have made most of the points by the time she'd got her parchment and joined them.

Was Denton looking at her ...funny? Inwardly shaking her head for being paraniod, she needed to relax, she gave him a small smile before turning her attention back to Lucas who was taking control - for which she was grateful. Willow would die if she had to get up and address the whole class like that! She gave him an encouraging smile. He was doing a very good job.

As the boy finished speaking, Bella stood still as a board and just simply blinked...then a few seconds later, she blinked again. That Lawliet was some kind of intelligent, yes? "Well done, Lawliet! Well done! Group one certainly seemed to have done a great deal of thoughtful discussing. Well done to you, too, Misters Carden, Morgan, Trannyth, and Sunrider, as well as Miss Rider," she said, smiling at Lawliet's fellow group members.

"Now, what group one has taught us is that apparition is, importantly enough, very useful in cases of emergency. Lawliet is correct in stating that apparating can allow us to arrive at the scene of an emergency almost instanty. It can also assist us, let's not forget, in using side-along apparition to transport the ill and injured," she said. "Lawliet's also given us important defense techniques to consider. We can use apparition to quickly escape dangerous situations that we otherwise can not remove ourselves from. What I want you to remember, though, is that you shouldn't rely heavily on this technique, as there are ways apparition can be made not possible. We know this from the fact that we can not apparate here on the grounds of Hogwarts." She laughed good-naturedly at the comments regarding haircuts and sneaking up on friends. What a fun addition to their notes! "Thank you, Lawliet. You may be seated. Oh and nice job on the creativity, group one."



Bella stepped to the side and then motioned for Mr. Bordin of group three to come forward. She glanced out into the 'classroom' and watched the students as they listened to the presentations. She was looking for any sign that any of them were confused or didn't understand a concept. So far, so good, though. Hearing Lucas' question, Bella turned and paid close attention to the boy. This one was a nice public speaker, too.

"I like the point made about we humans always desiring to take the routes that are shorter, easier, and quicker. Muggles have adapted to this habit, as well; however, I do believe even they would consider some of our practices to be 'the easy way out'," she said, with a light laugh. "Think about it. Apparition...obviously..., but also summoning charms, which bring things to us, as well as a wide variety of other charms and devices found within the magical world."

Bella nodded as Lucas spoke, then said, "Once again, though, do keep in mind that there are places, like Hogwarts, that do not allow for apparition. Speaking of boundaries, though, if you know where the places are that don't allow apparition, you can easily apparate just outside its the boundaries." She grinned and nodded again when he mentioned muggle transportation and then animals we ride on. "It's convenient, it's helpful, and, as your group reported, Mr. Bordin, it's very useful to get yourself out of a sticky situation. Thank you, and you may sit down. Good job, group three."

"Miss Kovac?" Bella said, motioning for her to begin her presentation. "Also, would anyone from group two care to assist Mr. Potter, please?" Bella scanned the area, looking for the other members of group two. Hopefully one would show in a moment or two. "Madison...Neo...it's about time. A few more minutes or so."

Celandine sighed, only half listening to what was going on.

"Mmm. I guess... I can present for group 2."

Because she CLEARLY wanted to. Ugh.

"Thank you, Miss Toussaint. Just come on forward and join Mr. Potter, and you two may do your presentations," she said, giving the Ravenclaw girl a warm smile, then motioning for her to come forward. She moved to stand by Madison, folded her hands neatly in front of her, then stood still and quiet. The students were doing a remarkable job, and she couldn't wait to hear what Miss Kovac, Mr. Potter, and Mrs. Toussaint had to say.

"Um... okay." Celandine closed her eyes so that she didn't have to look at anyone and started repeating what her group had discussed

"Once in a duel, you get this chance to fully concentrate and escape the place where you are being attacked, though it may give some people calling you coward. But you can always apparate somewhere else, prepare yourself and then go back to the duel. You can get out of dangerous situations, whenever it's a life-death matter and we can't duel.Saving lives. If you know people are in some sort of danger, yes. So, you gotta know the exact location and then go save them and immediately take them to a safe place.

Apparition is quite available for everyone of all budgets and without the need to use floo powder or an artifact to travel, a portkey. In that case, you won't get messy, dirty by traveling by those ways. You can use it in case you're late to be in some place or get stuck at one.

Moving things- Whether they are too heavy or just too awkward to carry somewhere And my favourite, sneaking up on someone by just popping out of random."

Celandine opened her eyes and snuck a look at Plymouth before tucking her head down and returning to her place.
