Apparition 1: The Concentration Game Concentration is the Name of the Game Out on the lovely grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, four, long logs have been neatly set up to represent a mock-classroom setting. Each of the logs is clearly labeled with a small sign indicating which students should sit where. The first log has been set aside for seventh years or any students who've already turned age seventeen. The remaining three logs are reserved for any students below the age of seventeen who are currently in their fourth, fifth, or sixth year. Please remember that all students in their first - third years will need to wait a year or so before joining Apparition class. As you draw closer, you notice a woman, 5'3" and very petite in build, conversing with another woman near her. Mrs. Bella Greingoth (Department Head of Magical Transportation and mother to Anna Greingoth) will be assisted by Mrs. Madison Masterson (her assistant, as well as groundskeeper Neo Masterson's expecting wife) in teaching you and your classmates how to apparate. Mrs. Greingoth and Mrs. Masterson will also be utilizing the prefects' gold stars and demerits systems throughout their lessons. The awarding of three of either one will be brought to the attention of the Hogwarts staff. So come on out, prepare yourself for apparation, and maybe earn a few rewards for your house while you're at it! Please take a seat, and the lesson will begin momentarily! As you enter, Mrs. Greingoth and Mrs. Masterson will place you into one of four different work groups (check this thread for which group you've been placed in). OOC: Regardless of whether or not you attended lessons last term, you may still attend the new lessons. Because I'm new to the position, I'll pretty much be starting anew with the lessons. Stacey and Anna (along with the help of a few others :shifty:) have some really exciting, shifty-filled lessons planned. We'll hold three lessons, with a possible fourth, depending on how our plotting goes with the first three lessons. Groups Group 1: Waterloo, Mad Eye Touz, Helios Sunrider, Charmante, Lawliet, fire_faerie Group 2: Tomasina Riddle, DanialRadFAN01, Yaya, Thumper, Celandine, Jessica Group 3: PhoenixRising, nimbus1991, noodles, stan lanevski, Torchwood Group 4: RaRaRachieee, Crayola, Cassirin, Oesed, dan arjay, Mrs. Weasley, Ama For those of you not yet in a group: You are more than welcome to join in. Just post your charrie sort of glancing towards the chalkboard to check where they've been placed, and Stacey or I will add you in the list. :D Gold stars count (Complete) Slytherin: 8 Ravenclaw: 7 Hufflepuff: 1 Gryffindor: 5 |
Apparition. Clifford had attended last terms lessons but hadn't had time to take the test between terms. Bleh. He was confident enough he'd be able to pass should he take the test.. but there was no harm in having a few more lessons, right? He didn't think so. Nothing wrong with a little more practice! Apparition was COOOOL. Clifford eyed the logs they were clearly meant to be taking seats at.. he needed to be at that first one according to the sign. The seventh year decided to approach the instructors first. He recognised one of them.. didn't she used to work in Florean Fortescue's? Hmmm. "I'm Clifford Carden, ma'am.. Head Boy," he introduced himself with a cheery smile. "If you need anything, I'd be happy to help." Hehe. |
It was the one thing she had been scared to learn. Her parents hated apparating, perfering to floo or fly. But if there was one thing she was going to do, face her fears. After that crazy final exam Kazi had put them through last term she was sure she could do anything she set her mind to. So with a haughty flick of her short bob she set off across the lawns toward the area they had set aside for the lessons. She didn't like that she was one of the first to arrive. Her diva style must be in serious need of some TLC. She would have to stand in front of a mirror and tell herself how fabulous she was before she went to bed. All this crying and emotional stuff was cramping her style. She found one of the logs for 4th years and sat down to wait for others to show. |
Constantine sat in the grass a few feet away from the entire group with Roma laying down beside him; he'd agreed to help out with day |
Chris Potter walked onto the grounds where they had set up for the Apparation Lessons. He was very excited for these, seeing as he wasn't allowed to take themlast term. As he walked down the hill to the area that was to be their 'Classroom; he saw that Clifford was already there, talking to, his guess, the Apparation Instructor. "Hey Clifford. Nice day isn't it?" he then turned to the lady. "Hello, Im Chris Potter, the male Gryffindor Prefect." |
Smiling Vanessa made her way towards where the Apparition lessons would be taking place. Tehe she was excited, and had worn a pretty pair of sparkly pair of ballet flats to the lesson. As she walked down, she noticed that Clifford was already there, at least she wasn't the first there. When she got to the area, she just heard Clifford introduce himself, and considered that it would probably be a good idea for her to that also. "Good day..." Vanessa smiled at the two women who were there, glancing at Clifford, and giving him a smile. "I'm Vanessa corbette, one of the hufflepuff prefects." |
Plymouth figured that now, more than ever, he needed to learn this whole apparition thing. Being able to just SNAP and be gone hadn't ever sounded better. He looked around with that lost sort of look for a bit, then went and picked out a log to sit on. Plymouth sunk his elbows down to rest on his knees and put his chin in his palms. Yep. Plymouth was there at least in body. |
Dominic made his way out to the grounds upon hearing that Apparition lessons would be starting. He missed the lessons last term due to unforeseen circumstances - mostly having missed signing up. Noticing at once the logs and two woman standing there conversing, Dom blinked as there was only one other student there. Clifford Carden; slytherin seventh year and fellow prefect. Which meant that he was early! He was not seventeen. Ooh. Fourth years had a log? A bit young for lessons, Dom thought, but just shrugged it off instead as he looked back at the women again. The short, petite one, who looked a bit like an older version of Anna, was also very familiar. Dom was sure he had seen her before. "Hello," Dom greeted, figuring he would get a jump on maybe figuring out who the familiar woman was |
Hm. Why were all the present Prefects so far introducing themselves to the instructors? Or to who Evangeline thought were the instructors, anyway. She had just reached the place where these apparation lessons were gonna happen, but it was impossible to miss that. Weird thing. Did that mean she should like - go there too? Hmmm. But she didn't want to! She really didn't even want to be here. Oh, if only she had found the time to take the exam last summer. But she had been too busy. Bleh. But really, couldn't they go sit down and start already? She really wanted to get these over and done with. Divination homework involved SKETCHING and Evangeline needed a LOT of time for that. Grrr. With one light shrug, Evangeline decided to follow all the other Prefects. Hey, she wasn't going to be the black sheep! "I didn't know we were meant to meet you before the lesson started." Evangeline started once she got near the group which consisted of the two women and the Prefects. She came to an halt besides Clifford and sneakily tickled him on the side, sending the ladies a smile. "I must've missed the memo. Evangeline Green, Slytherin Prefect. Welcome to Hogwarts." |
Lucas had heard that the apparition lessons were to commence later today and had decided to take part since he hadn't attended them last year due to his injury. He made his way to the grounds and could see the settings for the class as soon as he stepped out from the castle. He could see many people beginning to gather around as he aproached. He saw two women there who were probably sorting everyone out. He reached them and introduced himself so that he could be sorted too. "Hey." Lucas said with a smile on his face. "I'm Lucas Henry Bordin, Sixth year, Gryffindor." |
Bella blinked, then glanced around the classroom area. It seemed the time to begin lessons had started, for all the students were starting their way to the logs. Eep! Exciting! "We'll finish our little talk later, Madi. I'd still like to make a wild guess as to what you're going to name that child of yours," she said, with a friendly smile. As she turned, she came face to face with a boy---the Head boy, at that---making his introductions. "Well now aren't you the polite one, Mr. Carden. Welcome to Apparition, and hmm...Head Boy, yes? I'll likely be calling on you to assist later on," she said Hmm...one...two... "Looks like a pretty good crowd, Mads. I guess we need to start placing them into groups," she said. With a flick of her wand, a list of students already in class began appearing on a large chalkboard. With every other flick of her wand, Bella was able to sort them into their Apparition groups. Hopefully they all worked pretty well together! When was she was done, for the time-being, she stopped to smile and casually wave at the groundskeeper, who was sitting in a little area nearby. Awww! How cute! Leave it to Neo to keep a watchful eye on his wife... "Good day, dears," Bella said, greeting Chris, Vanessa, and Dominic. She studied their faces a bit, trying to remember each and ever name. Meh...before the lesson was over, Clifford would be called Vanessa, Dominic would be called Chris, and well, let's just hope for the best name-wise. "Come on in, everyone! We'll give your classmates a little longer to arrive, then we'll get started!" |
Apparating, teleporting, instantaneous travel. Helios didn't care much about any of it. Half the fun was in the journey. Nearly stumbling into a log, his attention was elsewhere. He was a sixteen year old boy, apparating could be fun, but he wanted a car like a normal, muggle boy. Taking a seat on the log, he loosend his tie and rolled up his sleeves, soaking up the sun. "This will get interesting." |
Emiliano was ready for this interesting lesson. Finally, he'd learn to apparate and his sister was never going to be screaming to get hold of him around Diagon Alley. Phew!! Walking towards the grounds, a few students and professors, along Mrs. Greingoth and her assistant, he bowed in a sign of greeting. "Good day, I'm Emiliano Saenz, Ravenclaw..." He introduced himself, giving them a smile. Ready...yeah!! |
Willow walked nervously into the makeshift classroom, looking at the log seats before wandering over to those logs reserved for the younger students. She smiled nervously when she saw Paris and settled next to her before looking over at the women at the front. She shivered involuntarily. The thought of apparating scared her. What if she got splinched and lost a vital body part? ...or, or ended up in Timbuktu never to be seen again? She bit her bottom lip as she watched the prefects converse with the women. The woman who appeared to be in charge's enthusiasm made her all the more nervous for some unexplicible reason. She placed her hands in her lap and looked down at them, trying her best not to fidget nervously. |
Clifford was a trendsetter! After he'd gone and introduced himself to the instructor ladies it seemed ALL the prefects did. Bwaha. Wow, was he cool or what!? And the instructor lady would likely call him up to assist? He didn't get a chance to decide if that was a good thing or a bad thing for next thing he knew he felt Evangeline give his side a sneaky tickle. At least he figured it was her. He hoped it was her and not ... Denton. Ew. "Like I said - I'd - I'd be happy to help," the Head Boy giggled and squirmed away from Evangeline's cheeks hands. "Good luck, ma'am." He figured she might need it. Still grinning, Clifford grabbed a hold of Evangeline's hand and tugged her in the direction of the seventh year log. |
Copernicus spotted Plymouth and immediately veered off to the first log... he had just turned 17 and might as well enjoy the perks. It looked the prefects were going out of their way to stumble all over the visiting Ministry employees, who Cope didn't recognize from any visits he'd made with his father. Considering there would be plenty of time to meet them later, Cope chose instead to wave at Mr. Masterson and Roma. Ah, Masterson. We meet again, sir. |
Walking into the room, he sees the logs, sitting toward the back, he waits for the lesson to start. |
All though he was still to young to actually get his apparation license, he was looking forward to this. He made his way into the hall. Glancing around he took a look at all the different benches, but before he went to sit down he went up to one of the instructors and introduced himself. "Hi, I'm Ryder Montgomery," he said smiling at them. He brushed his ever annoying hair out of his eyes and went to take a seat on the fourth year bench. |

Madi knew by the badges they wore, exactly who each one of them turned out to be. "Good afternoon," she said as she felt a small kick of her stomach and began to rub without thinking about it. It was starting to happen more often and she was being less noticeable with it as well. |
Chris had heard about apparition lessons and thought he should come and see it. He made his way to the grounds and looked around. He saw Em at least one person he knew was there but then he also saw Lucas. He then spotted Mrs. Greingoth he walked over to her. "Hi I'm Chris Kaplan Gryffindor." He said. Ok so this was going to be interesting for sure. |
"Welcome to your first Apparition lesson. It's lovely to see the great turnout we've had today. I'm Mrs. Bella Greingoth, and this," she said, nodding to Madi, "...is Mrs. Madison Masterson. Now most of you are familiar with Apparition in some way, shape, or form. You've heard about it, read about it, or maybe you've even been a part of Side-Along Apparition at one point in time." She stopped briefly, then flicked her wand towards the chalkboard once again, adding the names of several of the students who'd just walked in. "For those of you age seventeen and older, you'll hopefully, by the end of the lessons, be able to apparate all on your own. For the younger ones, your goal is to learn all you can about Apparition and prepare yourself to actually apparate in the near future," she continued. "Mrs. Madison and I have a really fun lesson prepared, but to begin with, I'd like to hear your thoughts on apparition. What does apparition mean to you? Do you have any fears about apparating? Just raise your hand and share with us how you feel," she said. OOC: Bella technically doesn't know your names, but for simplicity, we'll say that somehow she knows them now. :P |
Apparition lessons was something the sixth year was definitely NOT looking forward to; one because she had not even managed to move an inch during the lessons last term, and two because, well, the thought of appareating was just ... weird. Splinching and all that, in truth, gave the girl the creeps. Sure the ministry lady last term had said it wasn't painful, but Willow found that hard to believe. Shuddering a little at the single thought of this, the young Ravenclaw went to take seat next to Copernicus Kettleburn. She was seventeen, after all, so she had to seat there, right? Right. And . . . wasn't that Anna's mother? Huh. Did she have any fears about appareating? Of course. "Splinching," started Willow, with her hand in the air. "I've been told it doesn't hurt, but, well, I just find that a little hard to believe." |
Lawliet had hear rumours floating through the school about the Apparition lessons and naturally, due to curiosity, he wandered down onto the Hogwarts grounds to check it out. As he got closer to the supposed spot, he noticed a couple of people from the MoM, some students and logs set up which almost made it look like a classroom. Though not entirely thrilled at the idea of Apparition lessons (considering he didn't have too much of an attention span), Lawliet made his way down and gave a small nod to the people from the MoM that were standing in front of everyone else before sitting down on the log that was labeled for all the fourth year students. The boy pulled out a small book and started reading through it while waiting for class to begin. Upon hearing the Mrs. Greingoth talk, Lawliet put his book away quickly and payed close attention to her question. He pondered on it momentarily before raising his hand. "Apparition is the most common form of transportation used by wizards and witches alike. It's extremely convenient and it's quicker than walking anywhere," Lawliet said, with a thoughtful look on his face. "My only personal fear will be that I won't be able to concentrate hard enough on the place that I need to go and I won't... get... there... whole," he added slowly while biting his lip. He had a tendency of doing that whenever he was nervous. |

That was the ice cream lady! Anna's Mother! Oh yeah, she was just as nice as her daughter, Evangeline decided as she watched the woman greet every single Prefect present but her. Not that Evangeline had any trouble with that. Oh no, sir. Besides, adorable Clifford was now squiiiiiiiiiiiirming 'cause of her tickle and she couldn't help but to look at her boyfriend and smile brightly. WEE! When he squirmed away from her hand, Evangeline tugged her hands deep on the pockets of her robes and smiled at that other instructor lady. Oh yes, that one was MUCH nicer. And pregnant too! How cute. But before she had the time to say something to the lady, Clifford was already pulling her away in the direction of the log they were supposed to be at. |
Ryder listened as Mrs. Greingoth was talking and then raised his hand. He had something he was worried about..he didn't really like traveling through space, or time without knowing it was guarenteed. With good reason too. "How likely is that one will splinch themselves while apparating?" He asked. |
