Ancient Runes - Lesson 3 - Survival

Alessia set up a room on the grounds. The walls were pressure sealed and there was a ceiling, also pressure sealed. There were NO desks. Only bags of runes on the floor and a magical blackboard. On it the words, "Come in, take one bag and wait for instructions." Less held her wand.

PadfootAndTheWolf 07-17-2009 12:28 PM

Chrs Potter walked into the room that Professor Lupa had set up on the Grounds and looked around curiously as he entered. There were no desks, just bags and bags of what he guessed were Runes all of the place. He saw the board and read the directions walking not far away and picking a bag up. He then saw her satding close by. "Oh hello Professor Lupa!"

Crayola 07-17-2009 12:36 PM

"Hi Professor Lupa.." Evangeline half-heartedly said as she followed Chris into the improvised Ancient Runes classroom. She barely even looked up at the woman as she greeted her and, after reading the instructions on the blackboard, Evangeline simply walked over to the further away side of the class and sat down on the ground, looking at the bag of runes infront of her. She hoped she actually could concentrate in this class. Meh.

Celandine had come into the classroom skipping but she stopped when she saw the look on the Slytherin Prefect's face.

There was something about it that seemed... familiar? Close to home? Whatever it was, Cel had a feeling about it, so she stopped skipping and quietly walked over to take a seat next to the older girl, offering a little smile and picking up a bag of runes to hold in her lap.

Hello runes, I'm Celandine. She spoke to them in her head and shot another glance at Evangeline.

She leaned over and gave Evangeline a nudge then reached into her rune bag and drew out three runes, one at a time.

She held them up long enough for the older girl to see before replacing them in her bag and facing front again and giving Evangeline one more encouraging little smile as she wondered a bit at the strange feeling.

Wha -? No desks?

Fyo frowned slightly as he entered the Ancient Runes classroom, looking around at the pressure-sealed walls and ceiling. "Good day, professor," he said, politely greeting Professor Lupa as he picked up a bag, as instructed.

With a sigh, Clifford traipsed into the Ancient Runes classroom. He didn't even have the heart to be afraid of Professor Lupa as he wandered slowly past her, eyes on the ground.

She
was in here. He could ... feel it. Her presence.

Without looking up, Clifford plopped himself messily on the floor infront of a bag of runes. What were they gonna learn about today? Thurisaz?

Thor and his hammer, right? That was fitting. He felt like he'd taken quite a beating from Thor and his bloody hammer.

The beginning of this lesson was going to be a little awkward. As Miles walked into the pressure sealed room, he looked over at Professor Lupa. "Hey, Professor." He smiled, a little oddly. But, hopefully enough to make her think that he reaaaaaaally enjoyed her lessons, which truthfully, he did. Though, Mles had wished he'd never wrote that compliment about Professor Morgan, he didn't realize it would hurt Lupa's feelings. Miles picked up a bag of runes and peered inside it.

Wow this was certainly gonna be intresting Herminny thought as she entered the underground Ancient Runes classroom and all that was their was there was lots of bags of Ancient Runes and a blackboard. She walked into the room and said, "Hi profesor Lup"a alittle weakly gulping a bit. She then grabbed a bag of runes thinking how bad can a class called survival could get, Right....

"Prefect Green, lovely to see... you." Odd... she the girl must have something on her mind...

She reached into her drawer and took a handful of sweeties out of it, she gave one to Chris, one to Evangeline, and one to Celandine, patting her head. "Cela, please hand out the rest of these to your fellow students as they enter the class. We'll need a lot of sugar today!" She said with a smile.

A frown? What was up today! "Hello Master Balouch," She said smiling to him. "Let's turn that frown upsidedown." She said and twirled.

Yes! The life of the party himself had arr... maybe not. What was going on here? Less was getting a little frustrated. "Prefect Carden," she said taking the boy and leading him to a corner. Her smile was wide and her whispering tone sweet and kind... but her words were those of a frustrated concerned teacher. "Today's class will be somewhat of a challenge and I will need all the students to be upbeat... As Head Boy you need to set an example, so whatever your issue, I will need you to bottle it up and pretend to be happy, and get the others smiling. Are we clear?" She asked still very sweetly.

Oh... it was him. "They are runes, Master Parker. You should be used to the bags by now..." she said coldly. Alessia wasn't a mean person, but she was vain... and took offence when she wasn't given the same sort of attention other staff was... Yes Professor Morgan is indeed lovely, but to make that comment on their homework, and... snub her... was just... well... it hurt her feelings.

"Miss Telerino, I am happy to see you in my class again." She said smiling.

"Students," she began, "I'm going to wait a little longer for people to arrive... but I am starting to think I will need to call Professor Kazimeriz to bring us a euphoria draught to get you all in a good mood. I cannot hold this class if you all seem down!"

hermygirl 07-17-2009 03:27 PM

Nia was in a happy mood, still wondering about what had happened when she and Elan had gone for that walk after their little...misunderstanding. Sure, she still ached from the tickle fight, but she'd never laughed so much with someone before. And with them sharing the common room, they'd see each other plenty. Yes, that had been the start of a very good thing.

Looking up at the professor, a twinkle still in her eyes from her thoughts, Nia smiled. "Hi Professor Lupa," she said cheerily, as she picked up a bag of runes. She was completely obvious to the melancholy mood that had apparently swept across everyone else in the room.

Even after all the times Professor Kazimeriz had addressed him as "Balouch," being called that still bemused Fyo - even though, let's admit it, Professor Lupa made it sound a whole lot better by adding "Master" before the whole surname thing. Still, what was the need? Of using surnames, you know? And Fyo was such a cute name, too. [At least that was what his petiteLittle, pink-haired mother had always told him.]

"I was just noticing the absence of seats, professor," Fyo said brightly, bag of runes still in his hands. He had to admit, he was beginning to love Ancient Runes: Difficult though the subject had been, at first, it was now beginning to grow on him, and he found it challenging in a most amazing way.

Smiling Vanessa walked into the Ancient Runes Classroom. Yey for Ancient Runes. "Hey Professor Lupa." She small hufflepuff smiled at the teacher, as she wandered over to where Miles was, and sitting on the ground next to him. Giving him a grin, she picked up the bag of runes, and waited for furthur instructions

Normally, Clifford would've freaked and ran a mile, arms flailing. But he didn't. The Head Boy simply looked at Professor Lupa through blank eyes without really paying much attention to what it was she was saying.

Something about being upbeat? SNORT. That was likely ... NOT.

"Clear.. crystal, ma'am."
The Head Boy nodded slowly, attempting to force his sad lips into a smile. It was more of a grimace. Ugh.

Disneymaniac 07-17-2009 04:06 PM

Dude he was old. He had been 14 for 3 months now. And now he could walk with the 14 year old swagger. He smiled at the Professor, "Hey," he attempted smoothly. But he still looked little and cute, so it didn't really pull off properly.

He blushed slightly, realising he looked stupid, and sat in the back of the class, hiding behind his hand.

"Ooh candy!" he said exctedly taking the piece she offered him. "Thank you Professor Lupa." he then thought to himself with a grin, 'More Professors should be like Lupa and give out candy.'

Lucy walked into the Ancient Runes classroom, ready for the third class. "Hello Professor." Lucy said , adjusted the bag on her shoulder and looking over at the chalk board. She walked over to where the bags were and picked one up, anxious to know which runes it contained.

She held them up long enough for the older girl to see before replacing them in her bag and facing front again and giving Evangeline one more encouraging little smile as she wondered a bit at the strange feeling.

Focused as she was on her shoes, Evangeline didn't notice someone had sat beside her till they nudged her. Oi? What was it with people these days? Her upset expression changed somewhat when she noticed it was Celandine - happiness herself. Oh ... and what was that? Chatting through runes, eh?

Nauthiz. Wunjo. Tiwaz. Runes of joy and need and emotions control. And battle ... and courage. Hmm. It was almost like Celandine knew. Well, of course she knew. Everybody who had a piece of that bloody gossip-nest people called Aparecium knew.

But that had been the first words - somewhat - of comfort Evangeline had had and a kinda of warm feeling rushed through her. Mimicking Cela's smile, Evangeline felt her lips awkwardly curl upwards in a smile.

A smile that faded away once she took notice of Clifford walking into the 'classroom'. Looking a lot worse for wear. The warmness of Celandine's gesture soon got replaced by a feeling of guilt rushing through her and Evangeline took a deep sigh.

She really needed to focus.

Yes, focus before Professor Lupa decided to tell her off or something! Kindly accepting the candy the woman had handed out to her, Evangeline tried to return the smile. Hmmm. Better to just eat the candy. She usually wasn't a candy lover, but since ... lately, she had turned out to be quite a candy addicted. Sugar was almost a replacement.

Only that not really.

Either by the sugar now on her blood or by Lupa's words of getting Kazimeriz, Evangeline decided that if she had bothered to be in class, she'd make it worth it. Focus, focus, focus!

Golden Monkey 07-17-2009 05:33 PM

William practically bounced into the classroom. Stopping he looked up, blinking at the ceiling and the walls before shrugging and picking up a bag of runes. Okay so he was still in a lousy mood and he kept looking down so he couldn't step in anything disgusting since he had new shoes but still he had some chocolate before coming out to the grounds so he was ready.

Almost. Runes wasn't his best class by a long shot but he was bound and determined to at least prove to Lupa he could handle it, even with his fvrogs floating in the great hall. Tossing her a rather exuberant smile he said, "Good day Professor." before standing there looking like he had no idea what to do.

Sigh.

Lislchen 07-17-2009 05:53 PM

...and another Ancient Runes lesson.Sigh Well, at least it was the last one for this term, hopefully. Her thoughts must have shown quite clearly on Nancy's face as the 15 year old entered the Ancient Runes, well, room, and a quick glance around the room did not exactly lift her spirits either as her blue eyes fell on, well, nothing except the few students who had entered before her and the professor. Where were all the desks?! And anything else actually.

With a rather monotone "Good day, Professor Lupa" Nancy continued to scan the room for something that would indicate what exactly they were supposed to do now. Oh! There was something. A blackboard. And it had something written on it. Come in, take one bag and wait for instructions. Okay, well, the first step was easy. Duh! She was already in the room, so, over to the next step. It was only now that her eyes fell on a bunch of bags on the floor which they were probably supposed to take. Okay...done, what was next? Wait for instructions Well, that was pretty easy as well. She could do that.

Lezleighd 07-17-2009 05:59 PM

Satine was her usual bouncy self. She bounced into the class with a smile on her face and grabbed a bag of runes. She was really starting to enjoy this class ALOT! She found a spot on the floor and looked around at everyone else coming in. She had to admit that she had been soooo focused on school work and clubs and such that she hadn't made the friends she had hoped for but the term wasn't over yet.

Whaaa? He just wanted to crawl back into his cosy bed after class not hang out in Loopy Lupa's office. Bleh. Why did everything always go wrong? He was blessed with the worst luck ever. It wasn't fair. NOTHING was fair.

Shoulders slumping sadly, Clifford simply nodded at the Ancient Runes professor.

Oh no she had pinched his cheek. He blushed even further in his corner of the room. He had his head down and his hand covering his face. He was 14 now. No cheek pinching anymore. He noticed Clifford looked sad. "Hey Mr Clifford. COme sit next to me!"

Jack sat, with bag in hand. While waiting for class to start, he unknowingly began to whistle.

Droo 07-17-2009 07:16 PM

A note came fluttering in her class... She grabbed it and read it.

Hmmm she folded the note and tucked it into her pocket.

Cheering Charm... it was worth a try... She quickly cast a cheering charm on Clifford hoping that if it worked on him... it would work on others.
