Advanced Arithmancy Lesson 1: The Core Review Professor Shackleton sat behind her desk, twisting her ring around and around her finger, occasionally stopping to stare at the diamond for a moment before resuming the twisting. With a lot on her mind and hundreds of things to plan, she was a bit distracted before the lesson. But she needed to get her head in the game and give her full attention to her students. And she'd do that... just as soon as one showed up. OOC: This lesson is for 4th-7th year students ONLY. Any students in 1st-3rd year are not permitted to post in this thread. |
Elizabeth walked into Arithmancy, noticing Professor Shackleton seemed a little distracted, and waited until she sat down to say anything. Sitting in a desk near the front, she glanced at the professor one more time before greeting her. "Hi professor," she said with a smile, "A lot on your mind?" She could certainly relate to that right now. But this was class, so she should show that she was ready and willing to learn. And, on that note, she set her bag down flat on the desk, pulling her textbook, journal, and a pencil out, before moving the bag to the floor. Now she was ready. |
Daniel walked slowly towards the room. He saw no one. except for the time being. He walked towards the front rows of seat and sat at the one nearest the Professor. "Great day Professor." he said and then his eyes grew wide. "Oh my God." he said and gasped, "What a beautiful ring that is." he complimented with a big smile on his face. |

Copernicus entered the classroom and smiled politely at the professor before taking a seat near Anna. He was ready to knuckle down and get some learning done, even if he felt like his brain was in a million different places (except class) these days. |
"Wooooooooooo weeeeee, Professor Shack! Looking good today!" Plymouth placed an apple that he'd saved from the Great Hall on her desk on his way to his seat. He never did very well in Arithmancy, but he enjoyed the class nonetheless. Professor Shack, unlike some of the other meanies, was a sweetheart Professor. |
Becca strolled into the Arithmancy classroom, gave a polite hello to Shackleton, then glanced around at those present. Hm. She had a choice between Copernicus or Plymouth. As usual. But hey, she hadn't seen the silly one much recently, so she hopped into the seat next to Plymouth. "I hate Arithmancy," she whispered to him almost silently, annoyed. "I have no idea why I took this class." |
Oooh, Arithmancy. One of Karma's favorite subjects. Yay! She strolled into the room, book in one hand and bag on the opposite shoulder. Spotting the Professor with a rock on her finger, Karma acted impressed. "Hello Professor Shackleton," she said smiling. "Careful with that ring - you'll blind someone with it." There were Cope and Plym, and she smiled at both of them as she passed by to sit behind Cope. Maybe she could bug him easier now. Psyche. |
Jack had his books for Arithmancy held tight in his arms as he entered the classroom, immediately picking out a good place for him to sit. He sat down near the back, as he usually did, and pulled out his quill and parchment to prepare himself for class. He was always lost when it came to numbers and he didn't want to fall behind. Now that he had settled in, he saw that many people in the class were fussing over something up in the front--oh, he saw it now. Shackleton had a monsterous diamond ring on her hand! |
She walked into the classroom. She was going to stick with Artimancy if it killed her. And it might put her six feet under. She looked around for somewhere to sit, she saw a few people to knew but choose to sit near the back by herself. She wasn't feeling too cheery and chatty these days. |
Reese walked into the Arithmancy room and looked around the classroom. She really wasn't ready for this class, not at all. Most of the stuff Professor Shackleton talked about went right over her head. This class was just so hard! Shaking her head slightly, she started around the classroom, looking for somewhere to sit. She noticed Jack sitting in the back, should she sit next to him? Yes she should! She started to make her way over to him. She sat down next to him and then she looked back at Professor. "Good day Professor Shackleton," she said with a smile as she pulled out some parchment out of her bag. |
Abby walks into the classroom and looks for a seat. She notices Cope is already here and sitting next to Anna. Abby takes the seat next to Copernicus. She's anxious to get to work. Arithmancy is one of her favorite subjects. |
Celandine was veryveryveryvery GLAD to be doing advanced arithmancy finally. She loved it. It was one of the subjects that she felt was both challenging and rewarding. She walked into the classroom and smiled up at Professor Shackleton. "Hello Professor!" Celandine did not notice the ring. She did notice that seats next to both Copernicus and Plymouth were already taken though, so after pausing for a moment, she did an Anna-Greingoth-Hair-flip and ended up sitting in alone the back, with empty seats in front of her and to either side. She crossed one leg over the other and tapped her foot quietly while getting her things out of her bag. |

Dominic walked casually into the Arithmancy classroom and scanned the room briefly for a seat. Though the moment he stepped over the threshold, he realized his mistake in waiting until two minutes before classtime to head up to the second floor. One: He loved Arithmancy and Professor Shackleton, so waiting until last second to attend this first lesson was his biggest failure. And two, he had forgotten that there just may be an influx of students this term from those in fourth year choosing to continue on with the Advanced level. And from looking around, there were A LOT of fourth years present. Noticing how distracted the Professor seemed, Dom wondered what was on her mind. Though as one of her house prefects, he knew better than to ask. If she wanted to share, then she would at her own convenience. So giving her a brief nod and smile in greeting, the sixth year turned and looked for a seat - a feat seemingly near impossible until he spotted Cel-an-dine sitting alone in the back. Odd. "Hey Cel-an-dine," he commented politely, sliding into the seat next to her and pulling out his Arithmancy notes. |
Reid strode into the advanced Arithmancy Classroom and quickly made his way to a seat. He quickly and efficiently placed what he would need on the desk he was at before placing his head on his hands and relaxing. |
Vanessa walekd into the Arithmancy, pushing the pink alice band which she had in her hair furthur back, so that all her hair was pulled of off her face. She was excited for this lesson. "Hello Professor Shackleton." She smiled, at her head of house, before taking a seat in the middle of the classroom. |
Sasori walked into the classroom, remembering how much she enjoyed arithmancy last year. They hadn't had anything like it at Beauxbatons. She sat down at the nearest desk, dropping her bag onto the ground with a dull thud. Well, at least this class wasn't boring. |

She quickly made her way to find a seat and saw that her customary table was taken up by a few students so she turned to find another place. Spotting the guy she had partnered up in History of Magic with, she made a beeline for his table and stopped quite abruptly in front of him. "Is it ok if I sit here?" she asked the guy with a small smile, nodding to the empty chair next to him. Without really waiting for an answer, she removed her bag from her shoulders and dumped it unceremoniously on the floor. She pulled back the chair and sat down, turning to face the older guy with a still-questioning expression. |
And there she was...whistling and almost skipping to class... Weird. But Kaika stepped inside the classroom and smiled at Professor Shackleton, "Hello Professor!" she said, before moving on and choosing a seat in the middle of the classroom next to Vanessa. |
Lucy walked into the Arithmancy room, ready for the first advanced lesson for the term. She found a seat towards the middle of the class, and took her bad off her right shoulder, setting down next to her seat. "Hello Professor." Lucy said smiling at the Shackleton. "Hope you've had a good day." |
Chris Potter walked into the Arithmancy Classroom, eger for his first Advacned Arithmancy Class. He was so excited. As he found a sek towards the front he smiled happily to Professor Morgan and waited patiently for her to begin the lesson. |
Steven walked into the Classroom and smiled at the Professor. "Hi." He said with a smile. He looked around and then saw his girl. Ex-girl. He made a face, but walked towards her anyway. "Hi Love." He said, as he slid into the seat beside Paris. "How are you?" He asked quickly before the Professor started teaching. |
Secrettsss.... and rumors! XD Quote:
Reflexively, the sixth year looked back over at Celandine. "Uh... Did you know the Professor was married?!" He whispered, voice mixed with anxiety and concern. Of course, Dominic didn't realize it could simply have been an engagement ring, but that was a boy for you. |

Plus Shackleton still liked candy, which was of paramount importance. Celandine crossed her legs towards Dom-in-ick and bounced her foot a little while she waited for class to start, poking her tongue out at the Hufflepuff prefect and lazily turning the page in her textbook. |
