Dropping delicately her custom made school bag in a corner alongside the left wall, away from possibly damage, Daphne Hopton pressed her lips together. Target practice seemed about right, and because she didn't know what else to infer from mere observation, she smiled politely at her Head of House.

Indeed, there seemed to be something paining her, by the way her jaw was clenched tightly. It wasn't Daphne's place to suggest a trip to the nurse, especially in the middle of class. Instead, self-consciously, Miss Hopton adjusted her hair band, and combed her blond waves over her shoulder with her fingers, wand interwoven between two of them.

"You are all very close! Today, we will be learning how to fire arrows out of our wands! We'll wait a few more minutes for the stragglers and then we will begin."

Nancy groaned quietly as she heard Professor Pierce ordering them to put their things away and stand up. Why couldn't she just stay here at her desk and ponder about her life? No, she had to actively do something and judging by the bulls-eyes it was something related to aiming at a target which fortunately she wasn't exactly bad at but still...she had to get up from her desk! Fire arrows out of their wands?! Another sigh escaped her lips as she pushed back her chair after having put her books back into her bag only to then stand there with her wand in her hand waiting for further instructions from the professor.

How to fire ARROWS out of their WANDS!? "Professor, that sounds so awesome!" Clifford bounced in clear excitement, drawing his wand ready. He wanted to start noooooow! Stoopid stragglers.

At the professor's reply, Melina let out a little surprised "Oh!" and waddled closer to the wall, making sure she was on a spot where she was completely alone. After all, one of other students might want to be near their own friends and she didn't want to get in the middle. Besides, if hers popped into the classroom, she'd like to have space to be with them. At this thought, she glanced quickly at the door, hoping one of them, any of them, would get there so she wouldn't be so alone.

While the third year waited, she eyed the bulls-eyes and started chewing on her lip. Someone was definitely going to get hurt.

A grin spread across his face as he listened. "Awesome!" he said eyes sparkling. Now this would be a good challenge for him, which he loved. This was right up his alley so to speak. Perking up happily he waited with his body leaning against the wall slightly.

Amanda got up and moved her stuff over to the left side of the room, she grabbed her wand and twirled it through her fingers. Wow, we're learning how to fire arrows out of our wands! That's awesome, she never thought that was possible.

Kayla most jumped up and down with excitement. Yes, this was going to be a brilliant lesson, ah she loved Professor Pierce and her classes.

Despite the dust and dirt on the floor, Daphne needed to have a seat after hearing what the lesson was about. She looked at her wrist, tightly bound for support for casting spells. She had made so much progress at recovering from a mistreated doxy bite, she didn't want a rogue arrow to put her back.

Her face turned ashen as she started to plan ways to escape the lesson. She fidgeted at her robes. She saw a window, maybe she could call a broom and fly away. Of course, simply walking out would be more prudent. Perhaps if she "fell ill" she could leave. But she didn't want to miss the instruction, she just wanted to miss the practice. She decided to just sit around and wait and see.

"Alright, lets start!" Alex shut the door to the classroom, "Anyone who comes in now will be officially late, and lose house points."

"When would this spell be useful?"

Melanie looked a little more wary than excited at this idea. She wasn't so sure how much she we in a room full of students attempting for the first time to make arrows come out of their wands. Essentially fire arrows. In fact it was a little scary for some people to know that spell anyway....

Melanie walked over to a seat near Ana's and slouched down, yawning. Mel seriously needed a nap.... Shaking herself out of her little daze Melanie set all of her supplies carefully out on the desk and got out a muggle notebook that she had doodled a rather good badger on as well as ink and a cheap quill. Then she grabbed her willow wand from her back and almost lovingly set it on the table. Obsessed with a piece of wood?- Possibly Proud of it?- Most Definitely

"Perhaps during a camping trip.... you could make a fire with the arrow." Melanie said hopefully.

"Well..." Chirs thought as he raised his hand. "If you were out of reach of something like a button you could push it or if you needed to cut something like a rope you could shoot an arrow at it." he said happily

William raised his hand, "It could be useful during a duel professor, or when you're in a sticky situation and need a distraction." He replied, scenarios going through his mind.

Still bouncing, Clifford raised his hand. "You could go hunting!" FOOOOD! He wasn't sure if he'd personally be able to hunt and cook his own food, but it was an idea!

Kayla raised her hand. "Oh maybe to pin something up onto a board or something like that. Or maybe if you're hunting animals." Hmm...she hoped there weren't too many animal lovers in the room.

At the professor's question, Melly's hand timidly raised in the air. "For self protection, professor?," She said. "I mean, perhaps nowadays it wouldn't be much needed, but in older times, people could use it to defend themselves from animals," She nodded to herself. "Oh, and for hunting too, I suppose," She added a second or two later.

Daphne had raised her hand, in that delicate slow motion that irritated her Mother to the point of driving her to a conniption each time. The blond third year with the honey eyes would have liked to declare that it could be used for hunting; if one was up for such a grotesque and barbaric sport.

It was also a great means of self defense, if you were rubbish with a Reflective Spell. "It can also be used as a signal," declared the stout girl loudly. "You know, shoot an arrow in the air to signal for trouble, or to cue a secret attack of sorts..."

Even if it might be a little dangerous to aimlessly shoot an arrow up in the air.

Anna raised her hand, an idea already forming in her mind. "What if we were about to cast a spell on an object and we needed to check our aim ahead of time to make sure we'd be casting the spell in the correct direction? We could check our aim for spells intended for inanimate objects," she said. Anna tapped her fingernails against the side of her leg a few times, trying to come up with a good example to prove her point. "Take aguamenti, for example. Let's just say we only needed to cast water into a certain direction. We could use the arrow to test the aim of our wand to see if, when casted, aguamenti would indeed go in the intended direction."

Cale raised his hand. This lesson sounded like it was gonna be SOOO cool! "Well, if you needed a bow and arrow but didn't happen to have a set, you could just use this spell. I suppose it could be used in a duel too, although that would really hurt if you got hit," he added.

Freya raised her hand, "Well, it could be useful if you wanted to hit something obviously, but aside from animals, maybe a switch. And also if a person wanted to break a rope or puncture something, like a balloon and not completely destroy it." Yeah, long shot, but oh well, Freya was feeling creative right now.

"Very good answers! One point to each of you." Alex said with a smile, what creative students she had.

"For those of you afraid of getting shot, I will be putting a protective charm on each of you before we begin practicing." Alex flicked her wand and a line appeared on the floor near the students, "When we are practicing, we should all stay behind this line, protective spell or not. First I will teach you the incatation of the protective spell, in case you want to practice outside of class. The spell is Impiriano and the wand movement is moving your wand in a circular motion. We wont be practicing that spell today, I dont want anyone getting the spell wrong and having an accident. Please come up to my desk and grab a pair of protective glasses off my desk." she explained pointing to the box beside her chair.

As they all took their glasses, Alex waved her wand in a circular motion over the students and said the spell quietly. The students all suddenly had a slightly glowing blue sphere around them.

Chris put on his glasses, and then looked down at his body to see the light blue shere around him. He then shook his head at her directions

Amanda headed up to Professor Pierce's desk and grabbed a pair of protective glasses, she headed back behind the line and put them on. It was understandable why Professor Pierce wanted them to wear the protective glasses for this lesson.

Kayla placed her glasses on and looked down at her body. Oooh she was glowing like a little fairy, she giggled softly to herself as she thought that.
