Freya shook her head again, then took out her dark cherry wand from her cloak pocket. Thinking in a commanding tone 'Risona!' A fiery red ribbon burst from her wand tip. She had the ribbon, now Freya needed to think of a word, 'Felix...' Freya thought as clearly and defined as she could. The ribbon began to swim through the air in cursive, forming the word, 'Felix' in the nothingness.
Freya sighed, she hadn't tried this spell before, and was slightly nervous that it would fail...and it took a bit of concentration to keep the words in tact.

Cam eyed the professor, with a grin on his face when she started to tell them about the spells they were going to do. Firsitan? He remembered just flicking his wand at the wand shop and sparks came out, maybe this one was better! He didn't know how this was Transfiguration-related but whatever worked for him! Maybe it was because you could change the colors every time you do it, yeah that's it! Taking out his wand and parchment, he carefully wrote down the spell name and wrote down what the Firsitan could do. Holding his wand, he stared at it. What if some GIGANTIC spark of mass destruction came out of it? Worry, worry, worry.

Eyeing his wand with great apprehension, as if it would jump up and prod him in the eye, Jake shook his head 'no' again, mentally groaning. Why did he get the feeling he wasn't going to succeed?

Looking round, Jake waited for more kids to start before he did. Professor Pierce hadn't told them to go, right? To play it safe Jake waited a second, picking up his wand with his forefinger and thumb as if it would explode at any given moment.

Ludo listened from his desk. Professsor Pierce seemed a bit less angry with them now... and her demonstration was quite interesting. Like another form of non-verbal communication.

The instruction that the upper years had to perform their spell non-verbally shook him a bit. He was still having a bit of trouble with this form of magic. He listened to the incantation and set down his wand to concentrate.

At the mention of questions from the Professor he shook his head.
"Ok, Ludo." he thought, and picked up his wand.

He started out practicing the wand movement. Simple. Swish up..swish up..swish up. Having completed the easy part, Ludo moved on.
"Concentrate, Ludo." he thought. He swished his wand up while focusing on the incantation. Risona." ...nothing.

He tried a second time, trying even harder. ...nothing again, but he could feel his wand wanting to do its job. He collected his thoughts for a third atempt and swished up. He was very tempted to speak the incantation aloud, but knew better than to cheat. "Risona! You can do this! he thought, a bit frazzled.
A shining red ribbon burst from his wand and flew above his head. Ludo followed it with his eyes as it danced above him. It began to bend and formed the words: You can do this. Ludo's eyes widened as he watched the words and he couldn't help but laugh.

Sarah wasn't sure she wanted to utter another word in this class,what with the trouble that went on before.Shaking her head at the Professor's question to them,she then listened to the instructions and sighed.
Shame we can't do ours without talking....

Right...Fir-see-tan,firsitan.

Taking her wand in her right hand Sarah jabbed out in front of her and recited the spell,adding the colour she wanted them to be.
"Firsitan...yellow?!"
A pathetic spark came from the end of it lasting no more than a second.
Well that went well.Here we go again....

Anna sat quietly while the professor discussed the sparks spell with the lower years. She remembered studying that spell when she was a first or second year. It had always amazed her when she watched all the sparks change to different colors. She never really did figure out what the purpose of changing spark colors was, though. She assumed it had something to do with the power of the spell being casted.

Anna paid careful attention when the professor demonstrated the proper incantation for the spell the older students would be learning. Hmm...Risona. Anna said the word over and over in my head a few times, trying to get a feel of how she would have to say it when she was actually casting the spell. It seemed easy enough. Hopefully they'd be able to get started soon enough.

Livvy scratched her head. Easy enough. Risona.... Risona.. Livvy moved her wand with an upward swish and the ribbon appeared. Yay! Now what word should she use? The ribbon formed into the word, 'banana'. Livvy was just a tad bit hungry for some bananas.

Cadence picked up her wand in her right hand and held it firmly. Hmm... what color sparks do I want.. Cadence thought to herself, and made a decision. There were nervous butterflies in her stomach. This wasn't the first spell she had attempted, but this was the first one that mattered. She took a slow calming breath and said, "Firsitan!" exactly as the Professor had told them to pronounce it and jabbed her wand toward the ceiling.

A shower of gold sparks issued over her head, and Cadence beamed and looked around, watching the other students.

Mackenzie was excited to try the spell. She picked up her wand and concentarted hard on the color green.

"Firsitan green." she said jabbing the wand in front of her. There was a brief moment where there were small green sparks coming from the end of her wand.

Mackenzie decided to try again. This time she was going to send them up in the air.

"Firsitan green."

She was amazed when bright green sparks emitted from her wand over her head. Mackenzie couldn't believe she got it right on the second try! At least, she thought she did. She looked around for the professor to see if she had done it right.

Melanie brandished her wand like a sword in her right hand. The professor had not said to begin, but since pretty much everyone else had started and most had gotten it on their first try so she decided she should as well. The small first year thought hard of her house's color she screwed up her face in concentration and carefully said the incantation, peering curiously out of her eyes as she said it. Melanie let out an annoyed huff.

It took her three trys to get it right. When she finnaly did a smile of victory crept over her face. "Yes!" she whispered gleefully under her breath. Melanie relaxed in her chair and waited for the lesson to continue.

Set concentrated. He would first try yellow. "Fistian...yellow!" he said boldly as the sparks dazzled from the wand. Next he would try the other hufflepuff color! "Firstian...black". The sparks flew high! "Proffesor, is there any way I can shoot two colors at once? like yellow and black together?" he asked.

ok Michael thought fir-SEE-tan over a few times in his head.
reluctanly taking his wand out of his robe pocket to cast the spell. His wand work wasnt very confident yet as he'd only had one for a few weeks.

Pointing his wand away from anyone or furniture he jabbed his wand while clearly saying "firsitan" ! to his amazment white/gold sparks came out the end!!

Freya gave her wand a flick and her red ribbons vanished, she then raised her hand. "Professor. Is there a way that we can keep the ribbons afloat, erm, levitated in the air without having to control them constantly with the aid of our wands? Suspended animation I guess you could say..." Another one of her strange questions, hopefully it was decent enough to merit an answer.

"Of course dear." Alex said kindly, smiling at the Ravenclaw boy, "Go right ahead, but please learn the Risonia spell first." she added with a wink.
Alex nodded, "Yes, its the same as forming the words, think the color and the words. I dont require you to change colors, because to think of both, plus the incatation and wand movement might be difficult to keep straight in your head."
"Yes, if you had two wands and were able to do the spell simultaneously." she laughed, "I'm sorry dear, for now, you'll have to just stick with one color."
Shaking her head, Alex responded, "No, once you took your concetration off the words, it would simply become a mass of ribbon. Plus, you couldnt keep your ribbon in the air at all without your wand."

"Good to see some of you have already got the spell. Come on now, everyone give it a go!" Alex smiled again, the students were being much more cooperative now. 'So thats the secret to controling a large group of kids, blow up at them.' Alex thought with a silent chuckle.

Set kept trying the spell. He tried doing it really, really fast as to wirte out his name, like a muggle sparkler. it worked a few times! he was reallt enjoying this class!

Extremely excited to use her wand for the first time she said clearly "Firsitan" and red sparks came out. Then she tried two more colors "Firsitan" and blue parks came out "Firsitan" and yellow parks came out. This is awsome she thought

'That's a shame.' Freya thought as she nodded to the professor's response, 'It'd be nice not to have to rely on your wand for this...but oh well.' She waved her wand again and once more the fiery red ribbins shot out of the tip. Thinking quickly of a few words to spell out with the ribbon, Freya twisted the red streams around until they formed the words, 'Anchor', 'Tundra', 'Verde', and 'Olaf', one at a time until Freya had enough and lowered her wand. The ribbons vanished once more, spells were more difficult now for some reason. Freya looked at her wand, 'Maybe it's still regaining strength...after such a nasty accident over break.'

Melanie decided she may as well practice. Speaking the spell sh e manged to make some green sparks fly from her wand. She was overjoyed when it worked on her first try. Melanie watched the embers off the sparks drift to the ground. Perhaps she could help pick up after ward... make up for all the talking earlier....

Harley nodded at the professors response then decided he would try to be clever and while thinking of a word clearly spoke "Risona" then with a swish of his wand produced a yellow ribbon which produced the word YELLOW then with a smile asked the professor "How is this professor?"

Celandine repeated the incantation for the sparks casting spell and practised the wand movement. She let out a slight sigh of disappointment that she wouldn't be able to do the ribbon spell too- if ony she were one year older- but settled herself to concentrate on casting some awesome sparks.

"Firsitan!" Cela spoke firmly, accompanying the incantation with a jab of her wand, The resulting sparks were golden and Cela smiled brightly before attempting it again, thinking of blue this time.

Mackenzie decided to practice the spell. This time she wasn't going to say the color out loud. She concentrated really hard on the color purple.

"Firsitan." She jabbed the wand towards the air again.

Mackenzie was amazed at the beautiful purple sparks that emitted from her wand. She couldn't help but grin at her results. A lot of other people seemed to be doing good as well.

Jake tentatively picked up his wand, and decided on using his right hand.

"Fir-seeeeeeeeee-tan," he tried, attempting to put the emphasis in the right place. Unfortunately, this was a little too much, and one short strong blast of them forced the wand backwards out of his hands and into his face, the plain white sparks disappearing.

"Ouch..." Jake exclaimed. He needed to think of a colour too, and decided on purple, his favourite. "Firsitan," Jake tried again, but he was too nervous and the sparks were absolutely pathetic. One feeble pink one fell out of the wand tip as though it was forced.

One more try. And that pink was pretty cool.

"Firsitan," Jake had another go, hopefully getting the sound right. Magenta sparks shot out of his wand, as he'd thought of that colour instead. Unfortunately, they weren't as graceful as other students' had been. The best way to describe Jake's would have been a spluttering tap or fawcett... that was all rusty and malfunctioning.

"Erm... I may need to practice this one," Jake muttered to himself, writing down what the spell and the emphasis. He decided to give his brain a break for a second. He had been trying hard not to enchant "Firsties Tan," in any case.

Kayla spent a couple of minutes saying the incantation in her head and practicing the wand movement while concentrating on what she wanted her ribbon to say. Confident that she had everything down, she decided to give it a go.

Swishing her wand in an upwards motion and thinking clearly on what she wanted written, she said the incantation in a clear and confident voice, "Risona." Kayla watched with delight as a red ribbon flew out of her wand and formed the words KAYLA IS AWESOME, she held wand aloft to keep those words there for as long as she could...hehe.

Copernicus focused intently upon the words he wanted to appear. Perhaps just his name? That should be easy... he knew his name better than anything else. He raised his wand and sounded the incantation out. "Risona. Rih-sow-nuh." No, that wasn't quite right. "Ris-OH-nuh," he was muttering to himself and practicing the sharp motions with the wand.

Finally, he was ready to go. Copernicus. Copernicus. Easy, right? He would just think his name, and the ribbons would spell it out and then he could try the sparks spell. Which was actually quite pretty, now that he was watching little miniature fireworks all around the room. Right near him were some blue and purple and green sparks flying through the air, and he spotted Celandine across the aisle doing some very pretty gold sparks. They were almost the same color as her hair, and she really had excellent form in her casting.

Half-distracted by the flashes and by memories of duelling lessons, Copernicus raised his wand. "Risona!" The ribbons twisted from his wand, and he watched his name take shape.

He dropped his wand and the ribbons spilled into a pile and disappeared. "Whoops," he mumbled, reaching for his wand.

Anna grabbed ahold of her wand and held it out, ready to begin the spell. She quickly reviewed the incanation and wand movements in her head, making sure she had everything down pat. This would be one of her first times casting a spell without speaking the incantation. When she was completely sure of herself, Anna raised her wand a little higher moved it in an upward swish, and then silently said the incantation. "Risona!" Anna braced herself for a nice little ribbon to appear, so when it didn't, she was obviously a little bummed. Anna sighed softly and prepared herself to start all over again.
