Default The Last Door (READ DADA FINAL POST #7 and Follow Links FIRST)

Another sign hangs in the doorway.

Quote:
Congratulations. You have made it to your final exam. Take 10 points.
The room is dark... so dark, dank, and cold. Oh so very cold. A thin frost coats the floors, and there is nothing in the room but a shredded fabric veil on the far side.

Or is it a veil? If you see that it is not a mere curtain... Instead, it is a dementor. Prepare to defend yourself. In the far corner, Professor Kazimeriz waits, ready to assist any student who finds themselves in trouble.

ooc: Please RP your character entering here if they made it through the door and battling the dementor (You MAY RP for the dementor). If you succeed, click on the door above. If you chicken out, opt for the chicken exit. Good luck!

With her heart beating at the maximum speed she walked into the room, very dark room. Ana started to felt so cold that she thought that her heart was going to stop.
She asked herself what was all that could about. And as fast as the question arrived the answer invaded her head.

Dementors... No anything but a dementor she thought

Ana felt the dementor moving...

Happy thoughts...

Thinking about her happiest memory Ana tried to focus.

The Dementor was close she could feel it and suddenly it appeared right in front of her, Ana took a step back and making a delicate e shape movement with her wand she shouted "Expecto Patronum" and her lion came out of the wand towards the dementor. The dementor moved away. She looked astonished to the lion, so beautiful.

Ana was so happy that she wanted to scream.

She ran to the next door hoping that no more scary things appeared. But what could be more scary than a Dementor. With that hope in her mind she passed through the door.

Livvy ran through the door at full speed. Owwie. Those spikes were scary. She glad that was over with now. But now.. there was the next thing to worry about. And what was that hanging over there in the dark? Livvy was tempted to greet it.. but it wasn't friendly. It was a dementor! Possibly with bad manners! Great. She had to deal with a dementor that needed anger management.

Eep. Eep. Scary. Livvy gulped as she stepped back quickly as the dementor, looking all scary, was coming her freaking way! For some apparent reason, everything that Professor Kazi-dude said was totally slipping from her mind. Ah. Ah... think happy thoughts Livvy. Happy thoughts.. Happy thoughts..

She cautiously gripped her wand and held it up, pointing it at the freaking dementor. It was getting scarier by the minute. Why didn't she pretend she was sick? Livvy's mind flashed through the pictures of memories in her head, searching for the perfect happy thought, her eyes closed. There it was. Clear in her mind. Clear as crystal. She pictured the day she met Chase and Whit. They had been so happy and laughing. It had been a wonderful day and the perfect meet cute. Livvy smiled to herself and opened her eyes. "Uh.. Expecto Patronum!" she yelled out.

Ick. Not good enough. The dementor was coming her way again. EEE!!! Livvy returned to the memory and this time, she yelled the incantation with more force, her grip on the wand even tighter. She was gonna break her wand soon. "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" she yelled out, pointing the wand at the dementor.

Livvy squinted her eyes as she spotted a fox coming from her wand. Not weird one bit. She watched the fox, gawking at it as it forced the dementor to retreat to its little hole. Livvy smiled triumphantly at herself and walked out. Ha. She did it.

She knew the practical wouldn't be as easy as producing a shield charm to ward off armed gobstones. Not when it came to Professor Kazimeriz and DADA. He pushed them so far this term that it just had to be more to it than that.

So the second year wasn't at all surprised when she opened the door to find yet another room with a sign welcoming the students to the final exam. Okaaay, so what was all the other stuff before now? A warm-up exercise?

Mariel didn't have time to give the matter much thought because all she could seem to focus on right then was how incredibly cold the room had gotten. Not to mention dark. In fact, the thirteen year old was feeling downright terrified as her eyes glided over her visible breath and darted about the room as she felt like her very soul was turning to ice.

Gripping her wand even tighter than she had during her paranoia days of the earlier DADA assignment at the beginning of term, Mariel slowly moved forward when a movement caught her eye. That creepy looking ragged curtain started swaying in a non-existent breeze... but it wasn't a curtain at all, was it? As she tentatively moved closer keeping a wary eye on it, the second year realized to her horror that the "curtain" was really a dementor and it was now gliding quickly towards her.

Her breath hitched in her throat as she took an instinctive step backwards. The dementor immediately sensed her apprehension and shot forward, nearly pouncing on the young girl, and hovered over her. The frightened girl stumbled backwards, landing on her bottom, and pointed her trembling wand directly up at it as her breath came in short, quick gasps. Sadness, despair, a loud noise, a woman's scream, death... these thoughts and feelings filled the girl's mind, nearly suffocating her until she felt as if she wanted to lay down on the floor, forever, succumbing to the dementor. What was the point of going on?

But she knew the way to defeat this creature and the feelings it was imposing upon her. The Patronus Charm - only successfully cast with happy thoughts. But was she strong enough to continue? Trying to regulate her breathing to a normal rate, Mariel tried her best to think of something happy. In class, she had only minimal success casting her very weak patronus whilst thinking of making her house Quidditch team. Her mind drifted to Quidditch... and since the last DADA class, Ravenclaw had won the Quidditch Cup. Something that she had helped the team accomplish.

Focusing all her energies on the moment that she caught the game-winning snitch, Mariel pointed her wand in a slight downward angle, looped it in an almost-imperceptible "e", and shouted, "Expecto Patronum!" Something came out of her wand, she wasn't sure exactly what since she didn't stare at it for too long as it forced the dementor to the other side of the room. Whatever it was looked quite small and seemed to be solid, but the thirteen year old didn't dwell on it for as soon as she saw the dementor back off, she scrambled to her feet and sprinted out the door.

Abby walks into the room. The door seems to close on its own. Before she can focus on the room her body is take over by the cold. It's not a normal cold. It goes right down to the bones. Abby grips her wand tight and walks into the room. She freezes on the spot. A dementor! Abby knows what to do to defind her self, but she can't seem to get her mind to work. She's been afraid of dementors since she was a little girl. Abby takes a deep breath and tries to get control of herself. You can do this. You know what the spell is and what you need to do to make it work. Just think about something happy. The most happy memory you have... Abby points her wand at the dementor. She remembers the day Gramps took her to Diagon Alley. They went to buy her wand. She remembers how Mr. Ollivander said it had never seen anyone who took so long to find the right wand. Gramps smiled and said we Wrights were particular people. We don't want any old wand. They want one that suits them to a tee. Abby smiles and says "Expecto Patronum!" A silver whisp of smoke comes out of her wand. It slowly forms into a silver winged horse. It's not a complete patronum, but it's the best Abby has ever done. She watches as the dementor backs away. Abby consentrates hard to keep her patronus whole. She walks to the door. The dememtor stays at bay. Abby turns the knob and leaves.

Jai dropped her vest when she entered the next room, the smell here wasn't horrible, it was cold and dreadfully sad. Why was it so...Jai caught herself before her mind wondered, there was a dementor. She stepped further into the room and almost right into the creature, Jaimine fell backwards and landed with a hard thump. No mercy, no fear. She repeated in her head, Happy thoughts Jai, powerfully happy, think.... Will. Jai smiled.

The dementor advanced quickly towards her she crawled backwards fiening fear until it was almost upon her "Expecto Patronum." Jai said in a firm clear voice, a silvery jet of light sprung from the tip of her wand and a huge panther stood before her growling and hissing at the dementor. "Sic him." the panther bounded after the retreating dementor and Jai took her chance to run holdinher her wand up so her panther was still able to guard her back. As Jai made to close the door she ended the charm and slamed the door shut.

Dominic had skidded all the way into the room after his quick opening of this last door at the end of the Gobstone corridor. Due to his speed, the fifth year almost missed the sign right at the start of the door where it said they got ten points or something. Oh big deal! Ten points for having one's backside soaked with foul-smelling liquid from gobstones didn't seem realistic. Perhaps it was encouragement points to stay focused and --

Ooh. This room was darker than the last. And cold. Shivering, Dominic wrapped his thin robes tighter around himself as his golden eyes eagerly searched for something . . . anything . . . as to what was going on. It was impossible to see though in this darkness; his breath was barely discernible.

Moving slowly, anxiously farther into the room, that was when he saw it. Realized it. This wasn't a lethifold or a boggart, but worse. It was a Dementor, there at the end of the room, gliding toward him. Cold and rank and probably attracted to his own foul-smelling robes.

Breathe.

Except the Hufflepuff found that challenging since the last time he attempted a Patronus Charm - which was only supposed to be against a lethifold, that he denied going against - the most he got was an ethereal patronus. Something small and four-legged. But this was different. It was real and he was alert and vigilant and could do this. Especially if he wanted to continue with Defense next term, for which he most certainly did want to (assuming his OWL exam went well anyway).

He didn't want to die. And why was it getting colder?! Gripping his wand tighter, he felt as though something were gliding over to him . . . extending its long fingers towards him, to perhaps strangle him or administer the dementor's kiss.

NO!

Happy memories he told himself, reminiscing on when he got his Prefect's letter. His mother. Holding hands and kiss to someone. Role models . . .

It was this last memory that really triggered something within Dominic though, granting him strength he knew not he had. "Expecto Patronum!" Dominic called, raising his wand and tracing a delicate, invisible 'e' with his wand in the air, visions of Ethan Truebridge and Macadrian Shackleton and Caleum Myers all smiling down at him, offering him words of advice, of comfort.

The something small and four-legged scrambled from the fifteen year old's wand, pushing the dementor back. Squinting in the darkness in attempt to see what animal that silvery mystery was, it was still not really distinguishable, but one thing was for certain: it was FAST! And SMALL!

And he needed to get out. So while the little silvery misty, ethereal patronus held the dementor back, Dominic moved quickly towards the door . . . and OUT of that dark, cold room, secretly hoping there wasn't much more to this final that had adrenaline pumping fast through his veins...
