She blinked when nothing seemed to happen. She knew she did it right. She was practically a pro at that spell. And why was he just standing there? She saw him flourish his wand and comprehended a second too late that he was probably using non-verbal spellwork. And OUCH!!! It stung. It really stung.

Camira felt her eyes water, but ignored it. One of the benefits of being subjected to repeated bouts of the Cruciatus Curse. Desensitization to pain. Okay, she needed to think, and quickly. He may have knowledge, but she had cunning. Which one was superior? They'd soon find out.

"Confundo. Confringo", she shot off back to back. And then she sent a non-verbal spell for binding magical chains, one of the 3 or 4 non-verbals she could do. Hopefully he would not be expecting that. And really, and opportunity to see Maddox bound up and chained....well, that was just too yummy to resist.

Mads smirked smuggly when she winced from the stinging hex. He could tell she was coming out of it quickly though so he non-verbaled his protection shield into place.

Both the confundus charm and the blasting curse bounced off of his shield. His smugness caught up with him thought. He let his shield down a bit to early and was suddenly bound and chained. He sighed, and whispered, "Finite incantatem." The chains quickly melted away and he was free to florish his wand again. He again quickly sent a slue of non-verbals. First it was patrificus totalus, the body bind curse, follwed directly by the the conjunctivitus curse, that temporarily blinds you, and lastly followed by the bat bogey hex. One of which would hit her, if not all of them. He hoped it would be the least painful, but you never know.

Bwahaha. Maddox in chains. She wished she could take a snapshot of that and hang in up in her dorm. So hot!

Apparently daydreaming while in a duel was a bad thing because she barely caught the flourish and said a quick protego. The patrificus totalus bounced off, but it had apparently weakened her shield because the conjuctivitis curse flew right through it and hit her full on in the face.

The impact actually knocked her to the floor, so the last hex missed, but that didn't stop Camira from going into a full-fledged internal panic mode. She couldn't see. SHE COULDN'T SEE!!!!! It was one of her greatest fears come to life and damn in, she had no idea what the counter-curse was or if there was even one.

The duel wasn't over though, at least not yet. She was not giving up that easily. She quickly cast a supersensory charm on herself. If she couldn't see, she might as well boost up her other senses a bit. She hopped up, swaying a bit from the lack of balance and started casting. She knew she was casting in the right general direction, but precision was going to suffer seriously. She cast Langlock, followed by the leek jinx. If only she knew those non-verbally.

Of course. The one Mads didnt want to hit her, hit her. He sighed, and was suddenly confused, She used her wand on herself, then started shooting hex's at him. They were off by inches, but close enough.

"Time out!" He yelled as he jogged towards her. Once he got to her, he gently cupped her face with his hands, "I was hopping that one didnt hit you. I'm sorry. Hold still and I will fix it." He pulled out his wand and did a non-verbal finite incantatem. Once he was finished he smiled appologetically down at her and said, "Can you see now?" He felt really bad. He really didnt want that one to hit her. He knew how it felt to be blind for a whole duel, (even though he still won), and it wasnt fun.

She had no idea if her spells had hit, but all of a sudden he was calling time out. What the hell? Could you even do that during a duel? Well, apparently you could, cause he just did.

She felt his hands on her face, which was an interesting experience when one couldn't see. Gods, he was sweet. And she could see again. Yay. And at the same time, an idea was forming in her head. She couldn't. It would be wrong. Hmmm. "I can", she said, smiling up at him. "Though maybe you should have left it on. I have this blindfold fantasy that I've been dying to play out." Suggestive tone and all. that ought to do it. And if not, then this. She placed a hand on his cheek and smirked before lightly brushing her lips against his.

"Aquamenti", she said suddenly and quickly, before stepping away from him and casting an invisibility charm on herself. If you can't see it, you can't fight it. Well, that was only partly true, but still, it gave her an advantage. And she only felt slightly guilty for taking advantage of the situation. There really were no time-outs in a duel, after all.

Maddox eyes about bugged out of his head at hearing her fantasy. He was extremely caught of guard, though it sounded so appealingly tempting. He chuckled and gently kissed her back.

Then suddenly his nose was filled with water, and his head was soaking wet. He sighed, and shook his head from side to side, getting all the extra water off his face. He looked around, and figured she used an invisibility spell. He grinned and said, "Thank you for the shower. But its time to use some REAL spells." He silently flicked his wrist and conjusred a non-verbal protection shield. He wouldnt be bombarded again.

She snorted quietly as he shook the water off of his face. Though really it was a shame they were dueling because she would've liked to kiss him a bit longer. She crept around the arena slowly and quietly. This spell would be useless if he could hear her coming.

She soon realized she had an issue. She needed to speak to cast her spells. Which would give away her location. Looked as if some fast maneuvering would be in order. "Avis. Oppugno." Right after she said the spell, Camira knelt down on the floor and, yep, you guessed it, crawled. A bit humiliating really, but no one could see her so it was alright. Now, hopefully those birds would do their job.

Maddox was glad his shield was strong. Those birds couldnt get through it at all. He sighed, and while maintaining his shield, he flicked his wrist up at the birds and growled, "Incendio!" Suddenly all the birds where burnt to a crisp and their ashes scattered around the arena.


Now Mads was slightly annoyed. He folded his arms across his chest, still maintaining his shield, and said, "Camira, please stop playing games and show yourself. Your the one that wanted to have this duel with me, so come out and quit being a chicken." He knew that last bit would get to her, but she deserved it. He was highly annoyed. "I'm not sending out hex's until you do. You have an unfair advantage." He smirked, she was such a slytherin. He was to nice sometimes.

Camira flinched slightly as the birds were burnt to nothingness. Why did everyone feel the need to brutally murder them? They were living animals, after all. And now she felt bad for casting them out. Maybe she'd avoid doing that from now on.

Oh my. Maddox was mad. He was actually mad. She hadn't seen him mad...well, ever. Great. And what?! Did he just call her a chicken?! The nerve! And her advantage was not unfair. Invisibility charms were completely acceptable. Hmmph. Nonethless, he was right. She'd asked him. Plus, she didn't want him to stay mad at her. That would be horrid. "Finite Incantatum."

Hmmm....being invisible was much more fun. "I am not a chicken", she muttered sulkily. Did he really think that? "Sorry", she mumbled as an after thought. She wasn't really, but whatever. "Obscuro." Okay, so it was a bit half-heartedly cast. She couldn't help it if she was preoccupied now. With more important things. Like Maddox being mad at her.

Maddox sighed, and as soon as the weak spell came towards him he said, "Finite incantatem." He could tell she was upset that he was mad at her. But could she really blame him for being mad?

He set out at a jog, and stopped about a foot infront of her. He gently placed his hands on both of her arms, keeping her in place. "Camira. I'm not mad. I promise. Now can we please have a proper duel....Please." He batted his eyelashes at her, mocking what any girl would normally do to him when they wanted something. He placed his index finger from his right hand under her chin, and pushed her face up to look at him. "I dont like it when your sad." He pulled her closer, and gently pecked her on the lips.

Varius made his way into the dueling arena, hoping to Merlin that Professor Kazimeriz wasn't around to scare him poopless again. He made his way over to a spare platform, helping himself onto it (they were quite high up close!). He watched other duels happening around him until he found a suitable partner to go up against himself.

Initially, Daphne had no intention of stepping into the Dueling Arena. It was barbaric to fling spells at others, and very unladylike. Unless, you absolutely detested the other person.

Or that person happened to ruin your hair. Inside, she dodged several working arms and elbows and generally complained aloud about the musky stench of sweat tickling her nose. Bumping into someone, Daphne looked up startled. "Oh! My apolo--Oh, it's just you," finished Daphne with a wrinkled nose. Poking his arm with her wand, Daphne sucked her teeth. "What are you doing here--without a partner." And your sanity.

Varius snickered when the rather short... tiny... dwarfish... midget... elvish... gnomish... need I continue? () Gryffindor bumped into him. "Geez Daph-inator, no need to attack me," he teased, rubbing her head extra vigorously just for her. "No bow?" he asked a little disappointed.

"I am here to watch duels... I hear they increase your metabolism somewhat and with the amount of food Hogwarts offers me to shove down my throat... well i'm gonna need to either try and get one here or in the black market, which I am sure isn't even purchasable and that stupid Slytherin was just lying..." was he rambling again?

"Anyway, want to be my partner then? Since you too, seem to be alone."

After a verbal blow well dealt, or so she thought, Daphne had taken the time to place a hand on her hips and roll her eyes; a sign of both annoyance and obvious superiority. Huge mistake for now her hair had become ensnared in Varius Tipp's sinister fingers and Miss Hopton could only squeal uncomfortably as he did his evil deed.

"What is wrong with youuuu?" whined Daphne attempting to bring her curls back into their proper place without much luck. Giving up, she allowed her arms to fall heavily on both of her sides. "I don't care about your metabolism and don't point it out!" shouted the blond, shutting her eyes and clenching her fists in a tantrum.

Yes, she was alone. As usual. Thank you Captain Obvious.

"Very well, let's go," ordered Daphne snapping her free hand, the other busy with her wand. "Pull it out. If I sever off an ear or pink finger, or half a nostril I won't be held accountable."

"There is something wrong with me?" Varius repeated in a panicky voice, reaching for his forehead to feel his temperature. He began tapping his knee caps, "I can feel that - that's good right? What about my tongue?" he stuck out his rather beautiful and nicely sized tongue (which is true because I am his creatorrrrr and what I say goes, mkay?) "Ahhhhhhhhh." He was never sure why healers always asked you to say ah, maybe Daphne would produce a lollipop out of her robe as well - HOW EXCITING!

He walked to the opposite side of the platform, wand out and ready. "Don't worry Daphne, I doubt you're able to cause that much damage with a wand," he said rather bluntly, unbeknownst to him that saying such a thing could be very hurtful (although, probably not to Daphne).

"Rictusempra!" he cast, sending the jinx her way.

"Now seriously," began Daphne distracted by the Hufflepuff's antics. "W--Protego!" shouted the blond in time, bouncing off the hex at the last minute. He--What did he-- "You are so finished, Varius Tipps! Locomotor Mortis!"

Varius smirked at Daphne's response - competitive was definitely written on her forehead... in the metaphorical sense. I'm not sure 'competitive' on your forehead was in fashion... well not for another couple of hundred years at least...

It was only when Daphne sent her spell after him that he realised how under qualified he was for dueling, being a first year and all. "Lumos!" he spurted out random incantations in his small frenzy, his wand lighting up as a result.

"Damn. Erm. What. Erm. Ah---," he ducked and the spell flew above his head, colliding with the wall. Note to self: remember 'protego'.

"Nice try," his smirk returned as his safety was renewed... for now, "Langlok!" The Gryffiedork couldn't cast spells if she couldn't talk, now could she!? Unless she was super duper advanced and knew non-verbal magic, which totally wouldn't surprise Varius as Daphne seemed like someone with an IQ over 500.

Again, she was allowing herself to be distracted by Tipps' peculiar actions. He had for some unknown reason, used Lumos to conjure light to the tip of his wand and Daphne could only snort in disbelief at him. "Basics, Tipps, Basics include defensive spells--"

Speaking of defense...Daphne let out a squeak as she dodged and flung her arm up, waving her wand in the process. Unfortunately, she didn't quite manage to miss the hex entirely and when she pointed her wand at Varius instead of Densaugeo what came out was: "Dendataeoyo!", the side effects could only be inferred and inwardly, Daphne winced and hoped Varius would duck.

The guilt of him losing an organ wasn't worth it. Even if her tongue seemed to keep sticking to the roof of her mouth no many how many times she pulled it off it.

Varius began jumping up and down, clapping his hands in excitement as the spell brushed her. It might not have given her a direct hit, but it was something?

However, he was most disappointed when she managed to mumble out a spell, sending it his direction. Only problem was that he wasn't sure what the spell was and what it would do...

He scrambled again, the pressure getting too much and he hesitated once more. Instead he sent, "Flipendo," in it's general direction and both spells hit each other with a huge bang and a colourful range of sparks flying in all sorts of directions.

At the explosion Varius had dropped to the floor, covering his head. Note to self: Remember the previous note to self.

"Tarantallegra," he cast once he removed himself from the floor.

As Varius scrambled, so had Daphne, trying to find his blindside while he was distracted by her mystery jynx. If she avoided his spells long enough for the tongue twisting hex to wear off she'd be in the clear. It felt less heavy in her mouth, she thought as she jumped off the platform and rand to the side. However, it still wouldn't do.

Ready this time, she managed to deflect his spell once more. What she needed to do was--stop him entirely. She'd deal with his mouth later. "'mpedinenda!" Which was a sad attempt at Impedimenta went flying at Varius' shoulder. Horrible aim. He would surely dodge that one.

Yes, her spell may have been muddled in the pronunciation department and indeed in the aiming department also, but let us not forget that this is Varius Tipps. In an attempt to dodge this spell, he ended up running right into it.

"Bugger!" he screamed as the spell's impact shoved him to reunite with the floor once more. However, due to the mis-cast of the spell its effects were slightly different than anticipated. Instead, Varius was running around the platform at super fast speeds - the complete opposite of the spells normal purpose.

"Weeeeeeeeeeeeee," he yelled, buzzing around the dueling arena, "Riddikulus!" It wasn't until after he cast it and his hyperactive spell wore off that he realised what that spell was actually for... wonder what it did to humans...

What. An. Idiot.

Currently standing in a corner, forgetting she was in the middle of a duel, Daphne Hopton was trying to pry her tongue off the rood her mouth with one hand, the other busily repairing frizzy bits of hair with her wand. It was the only bit of non-verbal charm she could perform.

You think the passing wheeee, escalating and fading in volume each time he flew by her would cue her into the dangerous position she was in. It wasn't until she heard Varius' absurd incantation that she turned around having finally freed her tongue, fully intending to tell him off for wasting a good opportunity on a worthless spell.

The spell hit her right on the chest, and the blond Gryffindor found herself flying backwards, enveloped by a bright light. Finally, when her rear landed on the cold ground with a loud thud, Daphne considered not opening her eyes. If she had turned into a bloody boggart she was going to kill Varius Tipps. "Have you bloody lost your mind? Do you even know what that spell is for? First you spout off Lumos!" screeched Daphne forever, as unbeknown to her, what seemed small plant began to grow out the middle of her head. "Like you're lighting up a bat cave and then you run right into a spell that you're supposed to dodge. DODGE!" And even as she went on, the small bud began to bloom, first in the form of a hot pink daisy. "AND NOW..."

Daphne had to pause, as she felt her head tingling, and becoming heavy. The daisy began to lose its petals and shrivel and its place began to grow a hot pink bow with yellow polka dots. Reaching up, Daphne patted the bow and blinked. "Wha..." however, no matter how much she pressed against it with her fingers, the bow began to grow and grow.

It grew and grew, blossoming much like plants do, to ridiculous proportions. Panicking, Daphne's eyes began to water even as her head was now overpowered by a gigantic hot pink pow--with yellow polka-dots. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY HEAD?!"

As Daphne went off in her rant, Varius was wincing. He watched as the plant grew from her head, which he made sure not to draw her attention to as she would most likely kill him even more violently than she was currently planning to BUT THEN!

The darn flower... the once pretty flower was turning into a... no... it couldn't be... not... NOT A LARGE POLKA DOTTED BOW!

Varius SCREAMED. "Ahhhhhhh!!!! GET IT OFF. REMOVE IT." If Varius had a fear, it most certainly had to be a large polka dotted bow. If it wouldn't have emasculated him, he would probably have fainted in fear.

This was so unfair.

"BURNN IT!!!!" he screamed, terrified, "INCENDIO!!!!"

The flames erupted from his wand in a forceable, uncontrollable manner due to sheer OOMPH and LOUDNESS in which he conjured the spell. "BURN THAT DAMN BOW," was that a tear trickling from Mr. Tipps' eye? Aw. *petpet*

She watched him carefully as he jogged over to her, eyes defiant. Not mad? Suure. He definitely seemed mad. She nodded at him though. They did need to finish this or else they'd be there forever. He kissed her then and she couldn't help but grin a bit. "Alright, alright. Let's finish this, shall we", she said amicably. Like she could stay upset after that.

She walked back over to her spot. Proper dueling etiquette. "Densaugeo." She then quickly moved to a different spot, hoping varying angles would make a difference. "Incendio. Tarantallegra."

Her nerves already shot by her own panicking could only become worse with Varius' outburst. She scrambled to her feet, finding it almost impossible to stand without tipping sideways due to the weight the huge bow on her head put on her body. "Get away from me!" shrieked Daphne half-crawling half-stumbling down and away from the podium and towards the exit. "You set my hair on fire I'll REALLY kill you Varius Tipps!"
