Hearing Tanjiro, she debated the sanity of accepting. Sure he was...well, fifth or sixth year? It wasn't like she knew him. And yes, she knew some advanced spells...for her age.

Nah, he'd probably not let her duel against him anyway.

Leaning against a bleacher, she resigned herself to watching. For now anyway.

Paris had been itching for a fightduel since the term had started. And she finally had the time to get down to the dueling arena. She walked in and saw some Slytherins practicing. That bored her to tears but she did see a Hufflepuff just standing around looking. "Are you window shopping or looking for a duel," She asked as she stood there with her foot tapping. "We charge for standing around." She pointed out to her with a evil smirk on her face. She wanted a fight and this puff looked silly enough to accept her challenge, which Paris hoped she did.

"Incarcerous" She muttered and flicked her wrist ever so slightly, ropes coming from her wand and tying around the dummy she aimed at.

Whitney slowly followed Amanda onto the floor and carefully watched her. She was staring at one of the dummies. All of a sudden the dummy she was staring at had ropes tied around it. She hadn't seen Amanda move her wand at all, although she did hear the incantation. "Erm..." she started, nervously, "Slower?" she asked. Whit had a big feeling that it was going to be a looong day.

"Alright now for the basics, Expelliarmus, the disarming charm. Used to disarm your opponent, though it can be interpreted as disrespectful in a formal duel." Amanda said, facing Whitney. "Now the movement is quite simple, you just move your wand up, left and down, like so." She said and showed Whitney the movement.

Realizing Amanda wasn't going to show her the other spell yet,Whit listened intently to her next few comments. Of course, she knew what Expelliarmus was and was fairly well at it,but assumed some practice wouldn't hurt. Plus,Amanda seemed to like being the teacher, she wasn't about to go and correct her unless she really had to.

Picking up her wand, Whit moved it in the directions Amanda had displayed. Up. Left. Down. "Like that, right?" Surely, she'd done it right. There wasn't much of a way to do it wrong.

"Perfect, now you combine the movement with saying the incantation, which in this cast in Expelliarmus." Amanda said, not needing to demonstrate that point. "Now I want you to try and disarm me, take your time." She said, getting into position and holding her wand as if she was about to fire off a spell.

Gissel 02-06-2009 05:01 AM

Nodding, she listened to everything Amanda had to say. Once she was told to disarm her, Whitney walked a small ways away from Amanda and stood, getting ready to say the incantation. "Expelli-" she started but realized that she'd forgotten to do the wand movements. "Sorry. Okay..." She moved her wand up,left then down, but forgot to say the words. Letting out a sigh she apologized once again. Now she was determined to get it this time. While doing the wand movements, she said "Expelliarmus" just loud enough for Amanda to hear. And....[b]"It worked!"[/s] she exclaimed, trying hard not to jump up and down.

SlytherclawPoet 02-06-2009 05:11 AM

Amanda's wand came flying out of her hand and onto the ground. She kneeled down slightly, since she decided to wear a black skirt for a change, picking up her wand. "Very good, now two spells that will be very useful to you in duels, Protego and Stupefy. Protego, also known as the Shield Charm its used to deflect whatever your opponent sends at you. The wand movement used to execute this charm is up, left and right. Stupefy is my personal favourite, also known as the Stunning Spell its used to put your victim in an unconscious state. Very good for ending a duel nicely. The wand movement used to execute this spell is down, down, left and up." She said, thinking about what she wanted to say next.

"Now for the spell I was doing earlier, Incarcerous. This spell is very useful when you're stuck, or if you want to have the advantage in a duel. The effect of this spell results in the opponent being binded by robes which come from the caster's wand. The wand movement for this spell is a clockwise movement followed by up and left." She said, hoping Whitney would actually try this one out.

Gissel 02-06-2009 06:13 AM

While Amanda was talking about Protego and Stupefy, she "wrote" mental notes in her head. Whit knew what they did,she just had to remind herself. It was easy really: Protego=Protection, Stupefy=Stun. Go by the first letter of each word, that'd be her little trick to always remember it. As for the wand movements....she'd just have to remember those more or less.

'Incarcerous.' This was that first spell Amanda had used. Whit made sure to pay more attention to this, than she did with the others. "Clockwise movement, up and left. Right." she said out loud,to make sure she remembered. Assuming Amanda wanted her to try it out,Whit turned to a dummy, raised her wand and said "Incarcerous" while attempting the wand movements. Nothing. "Erm...."

"Alright, Whitney. Watch me, I'm going to do this nice and slow." Amanda said, getting in position. She aimed her wand at one of the dummies and slowly moved her wand in a clockwise movement, followed by up and left. As she moved her wand, she said "Incarcerous" nice and loud, so that Whitney could get it.

Tanjiro took out his wand and swirled it around in between his fingers, extremely compelled to duel right there right then. In the back of his mind, he kept thinking that he was probably superior to everyone the room but he pushed that thought behind as he knew that the worse thing to do would be to underestimate the enemy.

Giving up to his "hunger", he hastily walked to two girls he noticed that were only watching. Paris (he recalled) and some other girl. They both looked to be in their third or fourth year so his offer was going to make sense. And not to mention they were both girls. "Hey, girls. You want to both duel me at the same time? Two vs. one? You girls seem young so a 2v1 match should make sense. And I bet you girls are dying for a duel, eh?" he winked at the end of his sentence, confident they would accept his challenge.

"Fine by me" Kayla replied, glad that he had said it and not her. She wasn't one to concede unless she was actually unconscious. Although she was still gripping her wand tightly in her hand, Kayla lowered her wand and let her shield down. "It's a tie" she agreed.

Watching the dueling had become, quite frankly, boring. One pair was just a tutoring session, and the other had one player trying to opt for a draw.
Hearing Paris address her, she glanced up from her perch in the bleachers.

"Technically, I'm not standing. Does that cost more, do you think?"

Easing to her feet, she tightened her grip on her wand. She was fairly sure the girl was in her year. Something Greenwood.

Before she could accept, the sixth year had walked over.

"I think dying might be a bit of an exaggeration."

She looked to her year mate and back to the sixth year, keeping her face blank.

"I don't see a problem with it."

And she didn't. On her own...no way could she take the boy. But with Greenwood? She honestly wanted to see how this would play out.

*Gabben nodded ans walked over to Kayla. He held his hand out and bowed to her.* "I'm glad I didn't hurt you to bad. Your wand work is very good."

Mell 02-07-2009 12:41 AM

Kayla bowed back and giggled. "You barely even touched me" she snorted and held out her hand to shake his. "You're not so bad yourself."

RedRabbit 02-07-2009 12:45 AM

*Gabben shrugged.* "Well you are a year above me, so I knew I would lose or tie. If you want we can fight until someone passes out." *He smirked at her with an evilish smile. He ran a hand over his hair and folded his arms.*

Her brown eyes turned to her fellow Slytheirn and he offered to duel them both. He must be out of his mind, or he was trying to play Paris off like a soy bean burger and she rolled like Fillet Minion. "I hope you have a good insurance plan," She smirked. He was going to get a nice little surprise.

She smiled at the girl's response. Paris liked her. "I think we can let you slid this time," She told her with a wink.

She turned back to the both. "So you can one beat down for the price of two. I'm with that party," she told him. If the girl was at least decent at hexes and spells they could kick his butt.

Mell 02-07-2009 12:56 AM

Lol Kayla's the same year as Gabs

"Nah, wouldn't want to hurt that pretty face of yours besides I think I made my point" Kayla chuckled giving him a wink. "How about we fill out the book at the front and go to Hogsmeade for a drink?"

RedRabbit 02-07-2009 01:00 AM

"Your point? Mind running it by me?" *He put his arm out to her.*
"Pretty face? Your being very sweet on me for someone who already has a boyfriend." *He raised an eye brow to her.*

Mell 02-07-2009 01:09 AM

"My point is...that you thought I would be a pushover and I wasn't" Kayla took hold of his arm. "No just being honest" she chuckled, "now are we going to get that drink or not?"

"That's good to hear." Lenae grinned. "I didn't exactly ink in dueling area fees into my budget this month."

She almost laughed at Greenwood's response to the boy's challenge.
"Looks like you're on."

Smirking to herself, she decided to have fun showing this sixth year two girls were more than a match for one boy.

Tanjiro smirked at her apparent over-confidently spirit. "Oh, really? What makes you think I'm so easy?" Inside his pocket, he traced the fine and smooth wood of his pine wand in pure anticipation.

"Oh but first, do you want to write down the duel in the book?"
