James walked into the Dueling Area. Memories of the fights he had last term flooded into his head. He began walking around, watching various duels. He looked around for someone too duel before he heard Barry's question. "Hullo," he said, remembering his fellow Ravenclaw. "I'll duel with you." he smiled |
Mariel stepped tentatively into the Dueling Arena, somewhat apprehensive having never actually been there previously. She mentally chastised herself for being nervous, it certainly shouldn't be difficult especially seeing as she'd be dueling with a friend. Looking around, she noticed that Sarah had not shown up yet, but there were a couple older Ravenclaw boys that seemed ready to duel themselves. She resigned herself to sitting against the wall to wait and maybe observe her fellow housemates in the hopes of learning something from their duel. |
Barry nodded "Uh ok, lets duel" he said drawing his wand ready for an attack by his partner "You begin James seeing your the oldest" he added. He would probley loose but it was worth it if he got some points. |
Sarah ran into the Duelling Arena, skidding to a halt just inside the doors..out of breath. "I'm so sorry I'm late Mariel! I got lost can you believe..well you probably can..." She reached into her robe pocket and pulled out her wand. She had never duelled anyone before and wasn't sure she would do very well, especially against her friend who grew up around magic and knew more than her. "You'll go easy on me won't you?" she asked with a wink, hoping Mariel would say yes. |

Rising from her place on the floor, she said, "Of course I will. I'll even let you go first if you want..." Winking, she added, "Don't forget the niceties." Facing Sarah, she bowed slightly to her, turned and walked several paces, then turned around again to face her with her wand at the ready. |
Sarah copied Mariel with the bowing, and she too turned to walk several paces away.Taking a deep breath she turned back round to face her friend, wand in her hand.A hand that was shaking somewhat. "Ok,I'll..umm..I'll go first then," she said hesitantly. God I hope I don't blow her up! With a swish of her wand Sarah shouted "Expelliarmus!" at Mariel, before biting her lip and glancing to see what effect it had had. |

"Ready?" he asked him. "Rictusempra!" The jet of purple light erupted from James' wand and spiraled across the air towards his opponent. |
Barry who was ready to mutter the spell said "Protago" And just in time too it had almost hit him. He then muttered his own spell, something easy first "Conjunctivitis" ooc:I get my spells from here list of spells |

Just at the very second she was thinking that she heard Mariel mutter her own hex.Unforunately Sarah was not so nimble on her feet as her friend. She went to duck out the way and got it square in the shoulder. Standing up straight she could suddenly feel her ears tingling.Touching them she found out they were actually twitching.Mariel's spell had worked. "Awwww how long before this wears off?," she asked clutching her ears, and hoping to draw Mariel into a false sense of security. "So you want to play dirty do ya?" she managed to laugh, "OK so be it....Bat Bogey Hex!" she said nice and calmly. Maybe this one will work. |
omg I had a feeling you were going to try that one... Quote:
She was laughing so hard that she didn't notice Sarah's well-aimed hex until it was too late. The young Ravenclaw grimaced as nasty little things flew out of her nose and enlarged considerably and flew about her face. "Ewww," she shrieked. "Sarah, that's disgusting!" As she tried to shield her face with her left hand, her right hand pointed her wand at herself while she shouted, "Finite Incantatum!" Relieved to see the bat bogeys disappear, she muttered, "I'm really going to need to wash my face when we're done." Yuck. Quickly, she flicked her wrist at the Hufflepuff and yelled, "Tarantallegra!" Hoping she was fast enough, Mariel watched with interest to see if her spell would hit. |
Hehe I'm sooo predictiable! ;) Quote:
It was while she was laughing that she noticed Mariel turn her wand back towards her...ready to strike again. This time I'm ready. She jumped into action when she heard the spell.Springing back she countered it with "Protego!",and a shield formed in front of her just in time. "Wooohooo I was quick enough that time!" she shouted jumping around on the podium area. "What does that one do again?....something that would have made me look stupid I'm sure," she smiled. This was fun..and she hadn't killed or maimed anyone yet. Putting her hands together,Sarah cracked her knuckles before quickly flicking her wrist and shouting "Rictusempra!!" Would this one hit the target? |
Sam, aka "Steph", stepped into the Dueling Arena and looked around. This was going to be fun. She turned around to see if Jupiter was behind her. She never actually been in here before, so she wasn't sure if they had to ask if they could use the arena. Nobody was there, so she shrugged it off. "Lets flip a coin to see who goes first." Sam said, pulling out a silver sickle from her robes. She may never dueled before, but she knew somebody had to go first. She waited for Jupiter to decide before flipping it into the air. Catching the silver coin, she set it on her arm and removed her hand. "Heads." she said and looked up a the Ravenclaw, who seemed to be a little taller than her. Great. Since when did she become the short person of this school? |

She glanced around the dueling arena. It was pretty empty. Hmm. So... first they had to take their positions, right? "I think we have to bow and count paces first, Steph," Juniper said. "Right?" |
Looking down at the coin, she saw that Jupiter had won the right to go first. "Heads it is." she chuckled. She then listened as the Ravenclaw began telling her what they had to do first. Man, they weren't kidding when they said Ravvies were the smart House. Sheesh. "Yeah we were going to do that next." she said, trying to redeem herself. She walked away from Jupiter and climbed onto the platform. Waiting for Jupiter to follow, she recited what she had to do next. She just took her position, so next step is bow. Then count paces. Got it. When Jupiter was in front of her, she bowed her body down, and lifted her head to make eye contact. Jupiter looked so innocent, but Sam knew she was smart. She was going to have to watch out for her. After standing back straight up, she turned around and counted five steps before spinning around, her wand at the ready. |
Juniper followed Steph onto the platform and bowed as the older girl did the same. They were going to duel! Hooray! Counting the steps, Juniper walked away from Steph before turning to face the Gryffindor girl again, a contented grin on her face. Wand at the ready, she thought about what spell to cast first. The first that came to mind was the tickling charm. "Rictusempra!" Juniper said, casting the charm at the Gryffindor girl. |
Just as Sam was about to set the shield charm around her, she was distracted by a bird flying by the window. What if it were to fly in here. It would sure cause some havoc. Maybe it would even drop a surprise on some people. Snaps! She let herself get distracted! The tickling charm hit her at full force and she fell down holding her sides. She began giggling uncontrollable as every part of her body felt like it was being tickled. Thwarted by a fourth year. Bad day for this Gryffindor. When she was able to compose herself, she continued to giggle, to throw Jupiter off. Her hand tightened on her wand and she shot up quickly, "Babblous!" she shouted and purple sparks flew from her wand. The Babbling curse should distract her for the time being. |
Juniper let herself get cocky when Steph got hit with her charm full-force. She lowered her wand to let the other girl recover from her giggling fit, and was thoroughly taken by surprise when the Gryffindor cast the babbling curse in her direction. At first, nothing happened when the spell reached Juniper. Then the fourth year opened her mouth to cast another spell, however, and she began to babble nonsensically. "Habbabalooba!" she said. "Funfoojaba?" Alarmed by the nonsense words she was babbling, Juniper slapped her free hand over her mouth to make herself stop talking until the curse wore off. Eeek! Juniper tapped her foot and waited, not quite ready to give up and admit that Steph had won the duel. |
Quote:
"Expelliarmus!" he shouted, not knowing if the spell would hit or not, since his sight was impaired. ooc: Thanks, but I know all of the real HP spells by heart. ;) |
Sam let a smirk fall onto her face as she saw her spell had made contact with the Ravenclaw. Score one for her! She then pushed herself onto two feet and realized the tickling charm hadn't completely warn off, she began giggling again as the tickling sensation ran up her spine. She stumbled forward slightly and the tickling went to her legs. She bit her lip to keep the giggle in when she heard Jupiter open her mouth. She began babbling something unintelligentable and she began to laugh. Then Jupiter put her hand to her mouth and began tapping her foot. Oh this girl was going to kill her as a new burst of giggles fell from her lips. "Give up Jupiter?" she asked, her voice going higher as the tickling charm worked its way up her neck. |
Robert walked into the Dueling arena. He looked at the Ravenclaw insignia sowed into his black sweater vest like he always does when entering the arena. He leaned up against a wall. He had come to spectate and maybe if the opportunity arose, have a duel. He looked around and chuckled at the effects of the Babbling curse. It may sound a little dark but the effects of curses always seemed so funny when they where not aimed at Robert. |

Better not. She would just babble again, and Steph was still being tickled. Meh, she might as well give up. She would just babble whenever she tried to cast. Trying to say as much, Juniper said, "Eye goat puppy." Grumbling at the nonsense she kept spitting whenever she tried to speak, Juniper shut her mouth and raised an eyebrow at Steph. Surely the sixth year knew a counter-curse? |

Giggles escaped from the Gryffindor again as the tickling charm began to wear off. Then Jupiter said something about goats and puppies. What was she talking about? Looks like her babbling curse was stronger than she expected. When Jupiter raised an eyebrow at her, a slow smile fell onto her lips. "I'll give you the counter curse, if you nod your head in surrender." she said, giving her an innocent look. A Gryffindor beating a Ravenclaw at wits. Think of the idea! She waited for Jupiter to make the next move. The tickling charm has completely wore off now and she could see the Ravvie clearly now. |

"Finite Incantatem," he muttered, fixing his eyesight. His opponent, along with everything else, slightly came into focus. He smiled before pointed his wand forward once more. "Langlock!' it was the first spell that came to his mind. He didn't expect it to hit, nor work if it did. He had never performed that curse before then. |
