While moving around, Tobi didn't think to curse Cela any further, and he realized as she closed in on him that that was a huge mistake. Cela had removed her gloves and appeared to be going for the good old fashioned tazer-touch. Oh HECK No! Tobi waited for Cela to draw in close enough and just before she lunged at him he pointed his wand at her (it really did look like he was busting some disco moves now) he cried, "PROTEGO!" focusing all his shield right around where her little hands were, holding off the electrically charged, charging Cela. Well the sheild works against her personal hex, but now what do I do? Tobi jerked his shoulder, hoping his shield would hold and it would knock Cela back a few steps, meanwhile, he moonwalked okay, I've moved into the 1980s, is this some skewed evolution of dance? he only had a moment to curse Cela once he let his sheild down, so come up with something fast. Quickly, he dropped his shield and swished his wand pointing once again at the approaching Cela. "Petrificus Totalus!" he cried. Please please please let it work. I don't know what I might end up dancing next, but I don't want to find out. |

Celandine let out a little exclamation as Tobi's shield came up between them and pushed her backward. She landed on her butt and stared at her hands. She'd actually managed to touch him but... well she'd felt a zap... but had he? Cela stared at her hands some more, "Tohee?" She looked up at him just as he cast at her. Hit by the spell, Cela stiffened and fell backward, unable to move. The shield... Had he felt the zap? |

ZzzzzAAAAAAaaaaaAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPpppppppppppppp! Okay, that had been a good one. "For the love of mud, Cela!" Tobi squawked, "how long is Professor Kazimeriz of the Cruel and Unusual Punishments going to make you keep your 1.21 gigawatts of electricity?" No answer came. I've KILLED HER! Tobi would have gone running to her aid, but he was doing the Running Man and was pretty much stuck in place. Oh enough! If I've killed Cela I can think of at least half a dozen people who will have me suffer the same fate. Kayla, Maddox, Plymouth, Copernicus, Daphne... the thought of the little Gryffindor scared him quite a lot more than one might think was normal, but he hadn't forgotten the train ride home after sixth year. Oh MERLIN her brothers! "Finite!" He pointed his wand at his feet and said the spell that would have freed him a long time ago if he had only been able to get his jumble of thoughts strait long enough to perform it. He suddenly stopped running in place and was launched forward. Not having been mentally prepared for this effect, he stumbled. BANG! He sprawled across the dueling arena floor, smacking his chin and skinning it as he slid. It would sting a little later, but his first concern was Cela. "I meant to do that," he moaned, and got up onto his hands and knees, crawling over to his fallen friend. "Cela? Cela are you okay?" He shook her by the shoulder of her robes. She was completely immobile, except her eyes, which couldn't blink, oh that must suck Tobi immediately hoped he didn't kick up any dust when he fell, but they actual eyeballs were moving in their sockets, looking around. Evidently he had cast a successful full body bind. Who knew he had it in him? "I'm sorry Cela." Tobi sat up and raised his wand over her. "Finte Totallum." While Cela regained herself, Tobi stood, Oh, that twinges a bit. and hunted down her gloves. They hadn't gotten too far. only a few feet. He returned quickly. "Here, Cela," he knelt down again, handing her her gloves and offering a hand in case she wanted one to regain her footing. What if he had injured her? How VERY ungentlemanly! "I really am sorry." What else can one say? |

"The targeted shielding... it... works against hexes, jinxes and curses right?" Cela was looking speculatively at her hands as she said this. |
Tobi blushed a deep red. Being compared to Nico by Cela was probably the highest praise he'd ever get. He wasn't sure it was warranted, but he'd take it. He liked the idea of being compared to a brother in by Cela. Of course, Tobi didn't know much about Cela's family. Targeted shielding wha? What a strange question, especially for Cela, who was the best student... EVER. "Um, yes..." Tobi confirmed, "I think so, unless I misunderstood something, but I that's what I got out of the lesson." And the homework... |

How neat would it be to apply the lessons learned from Kazimeriz to actually avoid the shocky punishment given by Kazimeriz? "We should go log the duel. And I think I'll go to the library and do some research." Cela told Tobi, a distracted little smile on her face as she put aside the willow research in favour of zap shielding research... for now. She had more time for the willow thing anyhow since Professor Ashby had totally taught exactly what she needed in class. |
Quote:
"Well, it did the trick for me until I let my shield down," he said, wiping at the semi-congealed blood on his chin. Tobi was in complete agreement about logging the duel. "I'd join you in the library, but I promised I'd meet Aggie in the Common Room." Hmmm, maybe he could convince Aggie she fancied a walk down to the library to study, or else he could see if he could find Kayla, Maddox, or Copernicus to hang around with her. He didn't know if she needed a constant body guard, but he couldn't argue that she had a knack for finding trouble. |

"Thank you for showing me your shielding technique! I think I learned alot!" Cela waved cheerfully and skipped out of the arena. |

"Hey Cela! Wait!" Tobi chase after the spirited girl, he wasn't going to the library, but there were still a few floors he could walk up with her; he dashed out of the dueling arena, limping only slightly. |
OOC- I couldn't find your post... Melanie stepped nervously into the dueling area, looking around for Ana. She clutched her wand with a hard grip just in case someone decided to pop out of thin air and hex her. That was a scary thought leaving Melanie to look around wide eyed... just in case. |
ooc: pag 17 bottom =) Quote:
Ana climbed again to the arena when Melanie arrived she bow and walk to the other side and stayed in a attack position "So who start?" she smiled |
Lightly covering ayawn with one hand, Mariel casually stepped into the dueling arena and dropped onto one of the seats. She had been up so late the past few nights, studying and finishing homework to help keep Ravenclaw in the lead for House points, and her sleep had been suffering. Hopefully her fatigue wouldn't affect her dueling performance. Glancing around quickly from her place against the wall, the second year didn't see anyone she knew. Well, Nancy was in her class, so maybe the Slytherin girl would show up sometime soon and they could both finish their assignment. In the meantime, the thirteen year old girl decided to watch the other pairs of duelers to catch a few tips, oh and for entertainment purposes as well. |

Her blue eyes immediately darted around the arena in search for her friend with whom she was going to finish this DADA assignment and quickly spotted her some place to her left and cheerfully waved at her while striding over to where Mariel was standing. Upon arriving there Nancy gave her friend a small grin and clutching her wand tightly in her hand asked, "Hey! You ready?" Okay, this was going to be interesting... |

Jake was prepared for Cameron's first attempt at getting him, and it was an added bonus that he reeeeeeeally didn't want the bat bogey hex on him. "Protego!" he yelled, focusing the sheild to where the hex was headed, just about managing to stop it. Concentrating, Jake sent Cameron's old favourite, the finger removing jinx, straight at the boy, hoping he'd block it this time. |
Quote:
No more times for excuses though, since all of the random duels he faced for the homework and the assignments, he lost them all. Would he lose with Jake again? Well, hopefully not. And then his worst nightmare. It was the Finger-Removing Jinx, it was the worst jinx for Cam. He was NOT going to lose his poking finger so bringing out his wand, he snapped his wrist and then cast the shield charm. "Protego!" he yelled. It wasn't that focused, he was in panic but at least he didn't get hit by the horrible jinx. Ugh. "Well Jake, you should know by now that I LOVE my poking finger and losing it... I'd be sad!" But he was still angry at Jakey Wakey at the Lakey since like, he WANTED to make him lose his poking finger. "Ya like birds, Jacob Bakers Jail Upstead?!" Quickly, he cast the canary-transfiguration hex against him. |

Glancing around the room for an empty spot, Mariel walked over to the far side of the arena where no one would get hit by any stray spells, gesturing for her friend to follow. She turned around to face Nancy and thought about what spells to use, nothing too painful of course, and, oh yeah, they were supposed to be working on their focused shields. That too. |

The 14 year old quickly followed the Ravenclaw with a small nod as she walked over to an empty spot in the arena. Turning her full attention to Mariel and the space between them Nancy inhaled deeply before gripping her wand tightly in her right hand. Now, who was going to start? Ready to cast a shielding charm if Mariel should decide that she was going to start Nancy remained standing exactly where she was with her wand raised and a concentrated expression on her face. |

She had been in here once before, with Sarah, so she knew something of what to expect, but hopefully it wouldn't end the same way as that duel did. Shedidn't fancy being petrified again. "Ok, we're supposed to bow first," the Ravenclaw announced as she did so, then turned and walked a few spaces before turning back to face Nancy. The Slytherin looked like she was ready for Mariel to begin, so she held out her wand and said, "Alright, ready?" Taking a deep breath, the brunette waved her wand and said, "Velico Auris," as she sent a twitchy ears hex Nancy's way. |

Although when being jinxed, hexed, whatever, Melanie's first reaction was to duck. Get down and stay there. However she knew what she had to do to deflect Ana's spell and she was supposed to use magic, right? Melanie did a swift motion with her wand, saying while she did it "Finite Incantatem." However Melanie was rather unpracticed with that particular spell and she erupted into an incredibly loud fit of laughter. "Tarantallegra." Melanie retaliated with a charm designed to make the victims legs do a dance... |
Ana was watching Melanie laughing uncontrollably which was really funny, so when Lanie sent a spell she was not expecting and her legs start moving into a crazy dance. Ah stop. That was funny Melanie couldn't stop laughing and her legs just didn't stop. "Fiiiiiniteeee Incatatemmm!" After a few tries it stopped. Then Ana sent a Canary Hex to Lanie. That would be cool. |

"Finite Incatatem. Finite Incatatem!" It wasn't working and Melanie continued to laugh like a lunatic. So she decided to try something different... "FINITE INCATEM!!!" she yelled at the top of her lungs. Melanie grinned, self satisfied. What Jake had said was right. If you said it like you meant it it did work. Melanie's roar of laughter slowly faded off to giggles and as Melanie looked up to flaunt what she had done she realized that Ana had just sent a Hex at her. "AHHH" Melanie yelled dramatically. She couldn't quite remember what xshe was supposed to do and she had a splits second choice so the girl dove to the floor and rolled out of the way, thankfully not getting hit. Melanie finally stood up and started circling Ana... for fun. Just to make her a bit nervous. However she stumbled a bit ruining the entire ordeal, so, on with the duel! Melanie cast the twitchy ears hex at Ana, mentally preparing herself for a retaliation. |
