Patricia took a seat at the Ravenclaw table and immediately started to fill her plate with the delicious food that was available. Once her plate was piled high, she took her Potions book out and propped it up against the pumpkin juice pitcher. In went the food as she scanned her new Potions manual, noting all the different and new things they would be doing this semester. She wasn't fazed by all the chit chat that was going around the table and she didn't really pay any attention to it. Her renewed interest in her school work made idle chatter seem unimportant somehow.

Anyway, so many people boasted about their own stuff that it made the conversation usually one sided in her eyes. And since she wasn't looking for a boyfriend like some of her older roommate, the conversation felt stilted at times. What time she had, she wanted to apply herself to her school work.

She finished her meal in no time and continued to read until the announcements were made from the Head table, which would come sooner or later.

Laylee's face instantly brightened as she saw her best friend sit down next to her. "I know! I was depressed when I didnt see you on the train!" She said with a puppy dog face. She smiled and grabbed her friend in a tight hug, almost dropping her roll in the process.

Maura grinned and returned the hug. "Where were you anyway? I was looking for you!" she said accusingly. Then she laughed to show that she wasn't really mad. She still couldn't forget what had happened last term. She took Laylee's roll, which was threatening to fall, and put it back on the plate. "I'm hungry!" she said.

Hannah Leigh returned to the Ravenclaw table after an unfortuanate incident. Her cheeks still glowed pink, but she decided to try and conversation. Of course, she knew nobody. Hoping someone would talk to her, she smiled brilliantly at no one in paticular. Of course, her ears were so red they felt like they were on fire.

"I was in the very back of the train, not having fun." She said seriously. Then she smiled. "But Im better now!" She watched as Maura took her roll. "Im hungry too! Lets eat!" She said, grabbing everything in reach.

Maura laughed as Laylee started grabbing everything she touched. "Well I'm sorry you had a terrible time!" she said. "I was in the front of the train!" She took a snowflake roll of her own, followed by mashed potatoes, fettucine alfredo, and a few strips of bacon, yes bacon, which she balanced on the side. She also took a mug of hot chocolate and a glass of pumpkin juice.

"Its okay, its not your fault! ...Or is it!" Laylee said raising and eyebrow. She laughed as she also grabbed some bacon, along with the other hundreds of things on her plate. She knew she wouldnt eat everything, but she might as well try everthing! The Hogwarts dinners werent this great everyday!

Maura laughed. "I'm sorry Laylee. I secretly hate you. I've just never told anyone," she said jokingly. Maura hugged her again quickly and turned to her plate. "This smells amazing!" she said. "the house-elves have truly outdone themselves." She heaped butter on the potatoes and took a bite. "Mmmm."

"I suppose it's important not to jump to conclusions about people in any house," Copernicus mused. He kept spotting people he'd met in Diagon Alley, which was making him feel more comfortable in this new school. He nodded at more of the girls he'd met that day before turning his attention back to Karma. "Are there any people I should watch for? Students or professors?"

Laylee laughed. "Oh darn, well I guess theres no need in hiding it anymore... I secretly hate you as well!" She said, then she laughed as she hugged her back.
Laylee looked down at her food in excitement. She began digging in, taking a taste of the chicken, the small steak, the pudding, the brownie, the pumpkin juice... and so on.

Robert looked up at the girl, "Ouch, that had to make for a bad summer." Seeing as she didn't seem to want to explain further he dropped the subject. Hearing her introduce herself, Robert smiled, "Sorry, I'm Robert. Pleasure to meet you."

Seeing Paris smile like that was never a good thing. Robert just stared at her with his jaw clenched. As she walked by him he felt a note of pride, And I didn't even lose my temper. Elizabeth should be proud. Just then he felt the legs of his chair move and, in his precariously balanced position he fell onto the floor. "What the bloody hell?!" His face was bright red as he rolled off the chair and onto the floor to push himself up.

He was just about to push himself off the ground and probably say something or do something that might make him lose a few house points if anyone was paying attention when he heard Elizabeth's voice. Feeling her hand under his arm he pushed himself up and glared at Paris, his face bright red, his hands and jaw clenched. "Yeah, what the bloody hell is your problem?" Without a word he leaned down and picked up his chair, putting it back on it's legs. With a last glare at Paris he turned around and sat down with an angry sigh, muttering to himself, "Bloody child." Straightening out his robes he looked up at Elizabeth and nodded, "Thanks for the help. Apparently the old saying is right, 'The bigger they are the harder they fall'."

"Ahhh," said Maura sadly, in a fake teary voice. "You hate me? You HATE me?! No one hates me!! I am crushed. Crushed!" She grinned. Maura scooted in a little closer to the table so she wouldn't get food all over her lap and started eating. She buttered the roll. "So," she said in between bites, "have you seen Chandan lately?"

Mariska smiled as Elizabeth finally showed up, and she laughed softly when the other girl noted Ludo's apparent hunger. " I have to say though, I'm fairly hungry myself. Pumpkin pasties and licorice wands don't really do much for the appetite," she said with an amusing sympathetic look for Ludo.

She then heard the same voice that Elizabeth apparently did, and she looked over to see Robert dealing with another girl, another Slytherin. " I swear, they bode nothing but trouble for us Ravenclaws," She said with a slight sigh as she watched Robert and the girl. However she arched a brow in confusion as Robert fell to the floor, but before she could go to do anything, she saw that Elizabeth was already there. Since when had she begun to feel that comfortable around Robert? From what Mari knew, the two hardly knew one another...right?
Mari saw that Ludo had noticed Liz...well, noticing Robert and she looked confused again for a moment. " I guess he's got the help he needs. Good thing Elizabeth saw; I suppose her Prefect instincts are still strong even though she's not one anymore." She said nonchalantly, making light of the situation. Of course, it was still weird that Elizabeth seemed so much more concerned for Robert now.

First she had been late for the feast and had felt many people's eyes upon her when she had almost run to the front of the Hall, then the Hat had taken forever to decide which house she would be in (it had considered sending her home because she might not be magic enough!) so Marina rather collapsed than sat down at the Ravenclaw Table, not caring (as she had done on the train) who she was sitting next to or wether the seat was occupied.
But the food looked delicious! She loaded her plate with chicken, rice and broccoli and poured liberal amounts of sauce over everything. It turned out to taste even better than her mother's chicken and that was saying something.

Natasha having walked away from the Slytherin table more out of annoyance then actually wanting to find someone she found herself walking over to the Ravenclaw table; she was a little unsure why as she only knew one person there who she couldn't see. Sasha pretty much just wanted to get away from the Slytherin table, not because she didn't like it she just didn't want to be around the prefects and hoped she wouldn't have to too much in the future but thought it was kind of unavoidable.

Sasha was thinking about this being quite preoccupied when she saw that she had bumped into the back of a girl with green eyes and wavy hair that was different colors. Natasha groaned, luckily she had only lightly bumped the girl so nothing had happened but she was still embarrassed, plus nothing seemed o be going right for her that day "I'm really sorry" she said turning to face the girl properly with a genuine look a more truthful face then she had all night.

Daphne nodded. "Quite unpleasant," she said flatly about her ailment. "Nice to meet you, Robert." With that she returned to looking up and down the table. In the past few minutes it had gotten quite crowded as more students got ready for the upcoming feast. She looked up at the enchanted ceiling, watching the stars and candles when she heard a thud. Robert had fallen and was understandable irked by the situation.

After he got back on the chair, she felt it was OK to engage him. "Are you OK?" she asked, stifling a chuckle. It was rather funny, but obviously Robert didn't see it that way. "What was that about?" she asked, looking at the people around him.

Robert looked back toward Daphne with a frown as he brushed himself off, "Nothing broken so I suppose I'm alright." He looked over his shoulder at the Slytherin table with another glare and shook his head, "A long standing hatred of..oh a week. Started in the Leaky Cauldron when she accidentally cherry bombed my new books. Continued in the Quidditch store where I told her off for trying to plot pranks during school." He turned around and looked at Daphne, "Apparently she holds a longer grudge then I do at times."

Barry had decided that he`d always give Cela a birthday present on the welcome feast it was better that way.He had gotten her Pygme Puff (sp?). Perhaps it could keep her distracted from more deadly animals. He also had gotten her a box of assorted candy from hogsemede . He arrived at the table and started hunting her down. She was with a few people he didn`t know, a prefect and...... Garrets brother. He was a Ravenclaw. In disbelief he almost fell over. He walked over and sat across from the little kid. He asked in the nicest way he could "You got into Ravenclaw? Good".

He then looked over to Cela "Had a nice birthday? Lots of presents?" he asked placing the candy before her and placing the Pygmy puff ontop. " If you eat it all at once I will be forced to contact Nico so be careful" then glancing towards Willie " And share." he added.

Then he looked over to the new female prefect "Planned anything for us with Cale?" he asked remembering about the anti-Domnic group

Daphne followed Robert's eyes to the Slytherin table. She looked to see if Ellie was over there, but couldn't make her out. She did catch sight of the girl who caused the boy to fall over. "It was very immature," she said, seriously. "That's the problem with allowing children into this school. Looking around, she saw several first and second years around her, she hoped they hadn't heard her ageist remarks, lest she end up on the floor, too.

Daphne turned back to the Ravenclaw table. "At least we're more civilized than those barbarians," she smirked. She always did have a slight prejudice against Slytherins. Even though the evil stereotypes have long been disproved, she still felt some malevolence emanating from their green robes.

Rachel looked up as a boy she wasn't familiar with sat down near them. She smiled as he gave Cela a pygmy puff and chuckled at the weird combination of pygmy puffs and scorpions on the same girl's hand. She was just about to introduce herself when the boy spoke to her. What on earth is he on about? "Er... I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Are you referring to Cale Newell?" she asked in a confused voice, racking her brains for some knowledge on the guy that concerned her. Nothing came up. It's probably something that they prefect last year had cooked up... I have to find her and ask so that I don't look like a complete idiot next time.

Karma thought for a moment before answering. Most of the students that were to be avoided, she already did. There wasn't much to know about the professors, except for that old dude up there. How old WAS he anyway?

"Well, if there are those students," she said, thinking. "I've already avoided them enough to not know their names. And the professors that weren't liked had left. Except, for the older man up there. He's new. And looks to be tough. So I'd brace yourself for him."

He'd just have to figure out who was a bully or a blatant troublemaker on his own. "Is that man in the middle the new Head? Do you know anything about him?"

Amy set quietly at the table looking at her plate placed in front of her on the table. She had only taken a few bits while she picked here and there at her food. While allowing a small sigh to escape her lips she closed her eyes. The nerves she had been gathering about her last year had hit her full force shortly after entering the Great Hall.

She opened her eyes again blinking a few times while looking around at all the students smiling and laughing. Another small sigh and she began to poke at her food once again.

Karma looked over in the direction Copernicus was talking about. That man did seem to have some authority prescence about him, more than the rest at least.

"I'm not sure. He does look like the new Headmaster. But, I don't think I've ever seen him..."

Wait a minute. Wasn't he the Potions master?

"Hold on. He used to teach potions... Maybe he still does?"

Jake walked into the Great Hall and was about to sit at his house table, when he saw Amy sitting at her table just staring at her plate. He walk over and stood behind her "So are you just gonna stare at it, or are you going to actually eat something" he ask her "are you ok?"
