Lasca sighed as Sarah sat down. She gave a bitter laugh. "He took points away from Mariel, Lyra, and I. He didn't even let me explain." She said the last part mainly for her own benefit. The professor had simply walked back to the staff table without even hearing her out. She was fuming! Her eyes were most likely turning silver and she had a pretty good feeling that silver streaks were running through her hair. She had to get herself under control before anyone noticed. But that was inpossible at the moment it seemed.

Thoughts were racing around in her head at top speed. What should she do? What could she do? She would have to see him in class, but he was also expecting her to produce a broom that she didn't have with her. She made a decision she took a deep breath and before she could change her mind she stood up.

Without looking at those she had been talking to she said, "I'll be right back." With that she walked up to the Staff table.

"He docked you points? Already?!" Sarah sat open mouthed.The term hadn't properly started and already the new teachers were asserting their authority.
"That is ridiculous,what are you all supposed to have done?"
She knew asking sounded really nosy,but this was her friends..old and new..so she wanted every detail.

Sarah watched as Lasca's hair and eyes changed colour as she sat there,seemingly fuming.Must be a metemorphagus, she thought. Something new I've learnt about her.
Then she sat looking as Lasca made her way up to the staff table...A place where something seemed to be going on.

She hadn't noticed before but the teachers were either scrambling around on the floor or out cold it would seem.
And from the snippets of conversation she could hear...why were so many of them shocked to see the ghosts?

Jake sighed "my sister is very funny, kinda like me but she's really sweet too, could make anyone smile" he said remembering his little sister. "he flipped his hands so that he was able to lace their fingers together. "I would love to meet your mother, and I understand that its not the best time" he looked at her "whenever you and her are ready Ill be right by your side to meet her." he told Amy with a warm smile.

Jake looked down again at the mention of his family, he knew that he could tell her, he could tell her anything. But she had enough on her plate without having to worry about his problems Sighing he looked at their hands lace together "I would love for you to meet me family" he said quietly barely able to to hear himself. Still not looking at her but staring at their hands "I just..." he stop not knowing what to say. He tired again "Its just that Im not sure when that could happen at the moment" he finally looked up at her and gave her a soft smile.

Amy returned the smile warmly toward Jake when he mentioned her mother. Wow- she thought to herself- that is a first, but she know with Jake she could talk to him about the gravest of things and some how smile at him.

Then as they again discussed his family Amy could see what appeared to be hurt in his eyes. She nodded an understanding nod to him before changing the subject. “Well look like we might as well stay around here then. You know what we have not done together,” she asked while suppressing a look of excitement. “Went to Hogsmead.”

Mariel opened her mouth to reply to Sarah, but Lasca did before her. Which was probably a good thing. Mariel was terrified that if she said anything else that she would lose more points. So she merely nodded solemnly, confirming Lasca's words. She could tell as she glanced over to her fellow Ravenclaw that she was fuming inside. And Mariel didn't blame her. She had heard her explanation and the girl should not have been punished at all. As she looked, she thought she saw silver streaks in her hair. Was she a metamorphmagus? If so, why did she have such a strange reaction to Nathaniel? Mariel gave it up as a trick of the light. Perhaps the candles were flickering.

As Lasca got up from the table, Mariel turned to Sarah. Of course the girl was full of questions, but she wasn't going to answer - not right now. For all she knew that DADA professor could hear from the staff table. Mariel looked at Sarah with slightly widened eyes and quickly shook her head back and forth. She didn't need to lose any more points and Sarah didn't need to get dragged into it.

Turning to Lyra, Mariel said very quietly, "I'll go with you tomorrow morning to give up your broom. I want to speak to Professor Vindictus as well." She was certain that details would soon reach his ears and she felt implored to apologize for her behavior.

Jake smiled at her change of subject "jeesh Amy I love you" he said before he wa able to stop himself, he smiled feeling a bit embarrass.

"Its true we havent gone to Hogsmead yet, sounds fun" Jake answered "when do you think we should go?" he aske her "what should we do there?"

Blushing slightly while wearing a bright smile Amy quickly regained the correct color as Jake went into a bunch of questions. Amy threw he arms up, palms toward him in a yielding jester. "Wait a minute, wait a minute your telling me the rebellious Sly guy wants to make a planned trip out of all this." She asked with a little smirk. "I...dont...know. I was think you know just one day...I mean of course on the weekend," she gave him a quick wink. "When we felt like getting up and going we could..should," she finished with the smirk still on her face.

Rachel sighed and leaned on her elbow, staring at the table. She blocked out the rest of the world, not really caring what was going on around her. I shouldn't... Some Ravenclaw is probably misbehaving, she thought to herself but wasn't bothered to get up. In fact, she wasn't bothered to do anything at all. Groaning, she lifted a tired and heavy hand to her forehead and her shoulders slumped even more as she felt a fever. Great... Now I'm sick too. She looked around half heartily, wondering where Toshi was. I haven't seen him yet...

Sarah could tell from Mariel's face that the matter should be dropped,for now at least.She was still curious as to what got them points deducted and Lasca so mad.She leant forward.. "Tell me when we get a break from lessons sometime," she whispered to Mariel,before turning to face the staff table again,stretching her legs in the process.

Changing the subject so not to get anyone else into more trouble,Sarah continued.
"So what do you think is going on up there? Appears to be a bit of a commotion among the teachers."

There was that word again that Tobi liked to use - “our.” Aggie was still getting used to having people around, let alone Tobi’s friends. And yes, they were Tobi’s friends since, with the exception of Sho, Aggie hadn’t spent a lick of time with any of them outside the snowball fight and a chance meeting here and there. She wasn’t even sure if Valentine or Eddy liked her and she was quite certain that if Sho had his way, he'd hit her with a jelly brained curse when her back was turned. This thought occurred to her as she placed a mince meat pie on her plate and glanced over Valentine and Sho's way as she searched for the gravy.

Valentine, in the mean time, seemed to be avoiding eye contact with her and Sho was staring at the enchanted ceiling as if trying to render what tomorrow's weather would be like. Aggie shrugged off the slights as she spotted the gravy in front of Cale Thornton, Ravenclaw Prefect. “Say Thornton,” she asked leaning into Tobi to get the boy’s attention (he was currently stuffing his maw with what appeared to be potatoes). “Care to share the gravy?”

It was as she was leaning into Tobi who smelled faintly of vanilla ice cream and flour, Aggie noticed the nice mark on Cale’s forehead. It was slowly turning into a rich purple-green knot-shaped mark. “What’d you do to your forehead? Run headlong into a tree?”

Jake smiled as Amy blushed. He found it was easier to get her to blush lately "your to cute sometimes, well all the times." he said to her, knowing that it might make her blush again.

Jake laughed "wait wait your telling me you want to sneak out" he kept laughing "and im asking when we are allowed" he rolled his eyes "I think we are rubbing off each other" he nodded "but yes I agree when we feel like going we should" he thought for a second "so feel like going any time soon?"

Robert sighed and looked around. His friends still had not arrived and at this point he didn't think they where coming.

Dublin walked back under the table and out on the other side of the table. He walked all over the room trying to find somebody who would pick him up or pet him. At every stop he purred and looked up at the person he was trying to get attention from. Next stop: The closest Prefect.

Rachel jumped as she felt something brush against her leg and looked underneath the table in alarm. She sighed in relief as she saw it was only a ginger cat, looking for attention. She frowned; what is a cat doing down in the Great Hall? They're not allowed near our food, if I'm not mistaken. She picked it up and read the information on the collar with one hand as she stroked him absentmindedly with the other. Dublin... Robert Moran.
"Robert Moran?" she called out, hoping he would come to her so that she could give him his pet back. "Robert Moran?" she called again, more loudly this time.

Lyra groaned as the professor walked away. Her first day, and she had already lost her house points! And she was going to loose her broom and she had gotten her friends into trouble. She pushed her food away, appetite gone, and lay her head on her arms.

Lyra stole a glance at Lasca, but quickly looked away as she saw that the other girl looked extremely angry. She saw another girl come talk to Lasca from the corner of her eye, and when she looked again she thought Lasca's hair had changed somehow, but she couldn't be sure.

She felt sad as Lasca walked away. She probably doesn't want to be anywhere near me, she thought, until she noticed that Lasca was walking towards the high table. Oh no, what's she going to do?

Lyra tried to smile as Mariel offered to come with her to drop off her broom, but it felt more like a grimace. It's not like anyone can be happy about having to give their broom up. I never even got a chance to ride it, she thought with regret.

Robert looked up. He heard his name being called. He stood up and walked towards the sound, soon seeing Dublin and the Prefect.
He walked up to Rachel and apologized for the cat.
''Sorry. Didn't see him come in. He must have followed me without me seeing him'' Robert pointed at Dublin and said ''Up, Dublin. Come up here''.


The Cat walked up to Rob's Shoulder as if walking on an invisible staircase and laid down to rest in thin air.

''Listen, i'm really sorry about that cat. I know they aren't allowed near the food. I'm just going to get him out then'' Robert said and pointed the cat towards the door.


Dublin jumped down on the ground and walked quickly to the door and slipped out the small opening.

She turned as the boy arrived, holding out the cat. "I believe this is yours," she said politely but a little sternly. She was surprised to see that he was a fifth year; really, he's been her longer than I have and he still doesn't know the rules? She nodded as he spoke and watched the cat leave without a fuss, raising her eyebrows slightly. "Wow, he's obedient," she said, turning back to Robert. As she looked up at him, she spotted one of the first year girls talking to a certain professor. Not good. "Erm, you'll have to excuse me," she said and stood up, walking over to the area between the staff table and their own.

Livvy walked towards the Ravenclaw House Table and sat down. She looked around for Rachel and spotted her talking to a crowd of first years talking to a professor. She chuckled and shook her head. First years... Rachel seemed to love her new position as prefect though. Livvy looked around for something to eat.

Nathaniel poked Sophia in the side and smiled. "Did you talk to her at all? Was she acting weird?" he really didn't care either way.


Nathaniel turned to look at Mariel and said "I did not forget. I just assumed that you meant something else!". He then grinned "First day here and already lost a bunch of house points. Tisk Tisk Mariel!". Of course Nathaniel had to make a comment about that. After all that's what they fought about when they first met.

Laylee laughed, she didnt want to bring back memories with pretending so she hugged her friend tightly. "Thats how I feel about you!" She said smiling goofy.
When she brought up Chandan Laylee smiled at first, then frowned. "I decided Im not going to obsess over him.... I never see him. If he doesnt show up this year... well then, it just wont work..." Laylee was saying it, but she knew she didnt mean it. She would wait for him, search for him.

Plymouth finally found Copernicus and marked the occasion by giving Copernicus's head a good noogie. "Hey Step Brother. You miss me? I mean, you disappear on the train, you miss me on the fancy little horseless carriages on the way up, and then you don't even sit with me? You must surely be missing me by now."

Sighing deeply now that she was full she looked around and sighed again, only in saddness. There, about a arms length away or so, was her friends Mariel, and Sarah. How come they hadn't said anything to her? Was she that different looking or something? She didn't think so. The only difference was her hair was longer and lighter in color. Ok, so she looked a little different, but so what?! She looked away and grabed a roll that was close by, but she just picked at it, her appietite clearly gone. She looked to her left and saw Rian talking, had she forgotten her too? Grr. Jenn felt so lonely it was maddening, which was a feeling she hadn't felt in a long time.

Kim glanced nervously around the Great Hall. She had been so worried about the sorting and so excited to finally be in the castle, she had completely forgotten how alone she would be when she got there. She sat down at the end of the Ravenclaw table and peered down to the other end hoping to find a friendly face who was willing to become her friend.

Livvy grabbed a muffin to eat and got up. She saw a girl that looked very sad. She squinted her eyes. Was that... was that Jenn? Whoa... she looked different! Livvy walked towards the girl. "Hey Jenn! You are Jenn right?"

Chris walked over to the Ravenclaw table. He saw Jenn but somehow she looked mad, or mayne sad? He shrugged and walked over to her anyways. "Mind if I sit?" He asked.

Jenn looked over at a girl next to her. "First time at Hogwarts?"she asked, smiling warmly down at her. "I'm Jenn. What's your name?"she asked, extending her hand for the girl to shake.

Jenn looked up and laughed. "Ya, I'm Jenn. How are you Liv?"she asked, giggling. "I don't look that different do I?"she asked, grinning.

Jenn looked over and smiled. "Nope."she said, moving over slightly for him to sit next to her. "How are you?"she asked, happy he had come over.
