'Ah, this one.' Alex thought as she told the girl, "Have a seat." in a voice that conveyed both frustration, and anger. "Now, do you know why your here?" she asked pointedly as the girl took the seat indicated.

Sitting down, Lizzie swallowed again. Professor, I.. she lost her voice and tried again. I'm sorry professor, I dont know.

Alex raised her eyebrows, "You really dont know? Consider the rules of my classroom, your actions, then take a wild guess." she said flatly. She leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms, giving the Gryffindor a hard stare.

Lizzie felt terrebly bad, sitting there before the angry professor. Can it be because you think I was a bit too loud in class, professor? she asked nervously. But I didn't say much, just hi when a friend entered. I didn't want to be rude, that's why.. she thought desperatly, feeling incrediable small.

"I do not think you were being to loud, I know you were. And it is not about volume, it is about the rules. No chatting in class! I am ashamed to think that students in my house are acting this way. You are not the only one, so dont feel as if I'm blaming this on you alone. But I am here to warn you, and all of Gryffindor house, that I will not stand for this sort of action!" Alex ranted, "This is my first and final warning to you, behave in class, do your homework and do not misbehave outside of class. Gryffindor is in last place and I wont stand for it!"

Lizzie felt how ever word the professor said pushed her deeper down in her seat. When the professor was gone talking and Lizzie stopped holding her breath she said in a little voice I'm sorry professor Pierce. It won't happen again, I promise.

"See that it doesnt." Alex responded as she got to her feet, "You are dismissed."

Stunned for a second, Lizzie then got up and hurried towards the door. Thank you professor, see you in class she said quietly and then left, thankful to be dismissed without detention.

Chalice knocked on Professor Pierce's office door. She stood a little away, she had no idea what this was about but she knew Lizzie had to see her too.

Alex was sitting at her desk when she heard another knock on the door. "Come i-" she was cut off as three or four envolopes came flying out of her fireplace and smacked her in the face. "ARGH!" she cried as she jumped up and ripped the letters to shreds like a mad woman, before sitting back down in the middle of shredded paper and calmly calling, "Come in."

"Hello, professor. I was told that you wanted to see me." Chalice said nervously.

Emma tentatively entered the room looking around. The room was very welcoming which made her feel a little less nervous.
"umm...hi. My name is Emma Starr and...i'm a first year Hufflepuff." she introduced herself with a quiver in her voice. She was glad no one was around to hear her sounding as scared as a mouse.
"well....the thing is....this whole....magic thing....is completely new to me and umm....im not quite sure how to know.....where...or when...i'm supposed to go where i'm supposed to go. and believe me professor, the last thing I want to do is cause trouble. I just want to do well and make friends and just make my parents proud and..."
She stopped abruptly realizing that she had been rambling on.
"i'm sorry Professor" she said quietly

"Everyone's scared when they first get to Hogwarts, I know I was. Its alright dear, here." Alex conjured up a piece of parchment with some writing on it, "This is your schedule for classes, when you need to go to class, the parchment will beep and tell you what floor the classroom is on, so your wont get lost. That should help." she smiled kindly.
Alex's sympathetic demeanor vanished, "Yes, I do. Sit down." she said gesturing the the unoccupied seat.
"Is that all dear?" she asked the small Hufflepuff, trying to sound kind while she was thinking what she was going to say the Gryffindor girl.

Chalice dropped down on the chair. "Sorry, I should have said thank you for the chair. It was unladylike. Thank you for asigning me the seat professor."

Alex raised an eyebrow, 'I really hate doing this, but time to take a leaf out of the Old Man's book' "3 points from Gryffindor for sucking up when you know your in trouble."

A few more envelopes came flying out of the fireplace. Alex quickly scooped them off her desk and threw them into the fireplace once again before getting to her feet and conjuring a large wooden board. She spoke to the Gryffindor girl as she began sticking the board over the fireplace so no more letters could come through. "Do you know why you are here?"

"No, not really. I just know that my best friend Lizzie was sent here too." she said to her professor. 'I didn't know I was introuble, but I do now.' she thought slightly unkindly.

Cela had passed a whole bunch of students hanging around a portrait that looked like it might have been a dragon, but her curiousity wasn't aroused enough to divert her from her goal. She skated towards Professor Pierce's office and brought herself to a stop, a little smile on her face because she was getting pretty awesome at the glisseo shoes thing by now.

Cela straightened her uniform and knocked politely on the door, her entire body coiled with nervous energy to hear what the professor might say.

Alex sighed, "You are here for chatting in class dispite my telling the entire class not to. What do you have to say for yourself?" she asked crossing her arms. She was not in the mood to deal with anything right now and the fact that she had to ignore the blinding headache in the right side of her head just to hear the girl, didnt help either.

"One moment please." she called at the door.

Celandine cheerfully knocked in morse code for 'take your time' in reply and settled herself against the wall, idly letting her foot skate back and forward and watching it's progress.

"I'm sorry, I guess that I missed the memo. I will remember next time, Professor." Chalice said honestly.

"See that you do, the other professors have been asked to report any misbehaving Gryffindors to me, so I will know if you are telling the truth." Alex rubbed her temples one more time. "You are dismissed."

"Come on in." she called to whoever was outside.

Celandine opened the door upon hearing professor pierce invite her inside, and stepped in, her expression earnest.

"Excuse me, Professor," Celandine began, "I was hoping that maybe, because I'm a third year- only one year younger than some of the others that got to learn the spell- if I could possibly learn the ribbon conjuring spell... um... risona... because I'd really like to know how to do it, and the sparks are cool- especially when they come out the colours you want just by thinking the colours, even multiple colours and my favourite which was gold- but if i'm ever stuck in a maze again," which... wasn't all that unlikely considering... Hogwarts, "I'd like to be able to communicate more clearly and make my own code."

Like Plymouth and his squares.

Celandine thought for a second, "And it would be kind of neat to be able to write supportive messages to display in the stands during quidditch games. So I understand if I'm not allowed, but i'd really like to learn it."

And she'd prefer to learn it from the professor than from Plymouth.

She gazed up hopefully at Professor Pierce, chewing on her lip as had become an almost constant nervous habit.

Alex smiled, "I would be glad to teach you dear." After all, she had never had any trouble with this girl and she seemed to really want to learn for good reasons. "Do you remember the incantation and wand movements?"

"Thank you Professor. Have a nice day." Chalice said as she walked out. A quiet sigh of relief escaped her lips just as she was outside of the office door. How lucky was she to escape without a detention?

Headmaster Bontecou adjusted his robes and dirty glasses, then straightened out some of the daisies in the bouquet he held. Finally, he knocked on the door to Professor Pierce's office.
