Come up to the door of Professor Dumont’s office and knock, the professor is usually in and is happy to talk to you about whatever you may have in mind, especially if it involves muggle studies.

As you walk through the door of Professor Dumont’s office, you are struck by the fact that at least part of this room appears not to be that magical at all, but looking rather like an office you might see on muggle television (had you ever had the chance to see muggle television, that is!) The main feature of the room is a very large wood desk with a nice comfortable chair behind it, a purple, cushiony chair. There are a couple chairs in front of the desk, which appears as though it may be oak, both these chairs are a dark green velvet, padded, and appear very comfortable as well. The rug on the floor is a forest green color, imprinted with a variety of flowers in many different colors, it is very relaxing and lovely, one of the prettiest rugs you could ever find. Professor Dumont inherited this rug from his family, it is an heirloom.

On the right hand wall you notice many photos calling to mind muggle entertainers. There are photos of various muggle rock bands from the ‘60’s and ‘70’s including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin (it turns out that Professor Dumont loves this type of music). There are pictures of Elvis Presley as well, along with such muggle icons as Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, and many others.

On.the wall immediately behind the desk are some photos that are obviously personal. There are pictures of a very old castle with high pirouetting towers, this is Castle Dumont, Antonio’s family home. You gather that it is located somewhere in France, and you would be correct. You will also find many of the pictures that move and talk, wizarding pictures, there is a man and a woman in their 50’s, Professor Dumont’s parents. There is a new picture added this year, one which has a special place right over the Professor's desk. This picture is of a very pretty little girl, no more than 2 years old, with curly dark hair and a somewhat familiar look about her. You would be guessing correctly if you guessed that this is a picture of Professor Dumont's daughter, Antonia Michelle, who he has just become reunited with during the term break. But that's a whole other story, one you may or may not be lucky enough to hear (probably not!)

Along the left wall there is a long table which goes the length of the room. On this table are many muggle items to look at and perhaps even play with, including computers, video monitors that might even pick up muggle television (who knows?), video game systems, cell phones, iPods, skateboards, yoyos, Playdough, Legos, various board games, and a huge variety of books on all subjects. Your eyes fall on this table longingly, perhaps you might have the chance to play with some of these items yourself if you are very good some time, you never know!

Kayla sat and listened to John's story and she took in everything he said and while she could understand why they would want to find the letter Liam, apparently had in his possession at the time of his death and Professor Dumont helping them out. It didn't explain what Jack had told her about the Professor trying to mess with their minds.

"I knew your brother Liam" she said after a moment. "We spoke a few times but he never told me any of this stuff. Maybe he might have if..."she trailed off for a second..."if he hadn't died" she finished in a whisper. "I met Jose as well but we didn't seem to get on that well."

Kayla pondered her question for a moment before speaking. "Do you really think the letter Liam was carrying is still in the lake? I mean it has been four years as you say. Four years is a long time and with the tide movements and stuff I hardly think the letter will still be there and if by some miracle it is, how do you expect to read it? Unless of course it was written in special ink" she mused.

She turned to look at the Professor for a moment before turning back to John. "You say the Professor has been trying to help you but Jack here told me that Professor Dumont, was trying to mess with your minds and tried to get Sakura here to turn against him and find out things behind Jack's back" she turned back to the Professor. "Maybe you could answer that one."

Cadence tried to concentrate on what John was saying, and she thought she got the general idea. Something was wrong though. She didn't feel well. She couldn't breathe and the room was spinning around her as it grew smaller and smaller. Cadence nodded politely as John spoke, and when it was over she looked at him and smiled.

For a moment, everything went black. She blinked and she could see again, but everything was blurry and distorted.

She looked at John apologetically. I... I have to go...

And she ran out of the office.

"I would be happy to do that," Antonio said. "When I first met the two brothers here, Jack and John, I'm afraid we got off to a rather bad start. They seemed to hate me from the start, constantly taunting me, which I found out later was because of their mistaken belief that I had caused Jose to leave and go off on his own. They even came here to my office and caused problems here, which is what led to my giving them detention." Antonio paused, thinking it best not to mention the fact that Jack had trashed his office and set his family heirloom rug on fire in an uncontrolled fit. He continued, "Jack in particular was very difficult in the beginning, and I feared that he was going to get himself into serious trouble, perhaps even get himself expelled from Hogwarts, and I wanted to do everything in my power to try and prevent that from happening. Out of desperation, I asked for his girlfriend Sakura's help in watching him, and that was a huge mistake. I have since changed my mind about that and realize that Jack is fine on his own, that he simply needs a chance to be himself, to express himself and he'll be fine. I would have to say that this has been one of the most troubling families which I have ever encountered, and now I know why. After I learned their story, heard about the terrible curse which had been placed on the family and learned about the four missing parts of the letter, my heart went out to Jack and John as well as my friend Jose, and I decided to try and do my best to help them to find the missing piece of the letter, the one which Liam had in his possession.

As far as Jose leaving goes, he was determined to go off on his own despite my advice and urging him to stay here at Hogwarts and complete his education. He was insistent to leave, and even though I have offered him enough money, whatever it takes, for him to return hom and finish up his education, he still continues to stay over there. He tells me he has secured some sort of teaching position, something I find incredible for someone so young as Jose, but still, I suppose it is possible. We would all be better off if he were to return home, his brothers need him, and I shall continue to urge him to return and to help find the missing piece of the letter, wherever it may be. Now that I know more about Jack and John, I realize what it is that they need and the pain they have felt, and with that comes understanding.

If you have any other questions, anything else which needs clarifying, I'd be happy to do that," Antonio concluded. "Does anyone else wish to say anything? What about you, Sakura?"

Sakura just shook her head, it wasn't her story to tell, and she didn't think that Kayla really liked her anymore. Just because she was opinionated, like the other girl didn't mean that she deserved to be spoken to in that way by her. Although she was sure that voicing that opinion would get her a detention or worse off the other girl, something she really didn't need. She also needed time to process everything that had been said.

That plus she was finding it a tiny bit hard to concentrate, her wrist was throbbing. The nurse had said it would be painful but she hadn't really believed her. It may have been better though if she hadn't of been taking notes in HoM.

She then turned to Jack seeing if he would add something to the conversation, hoping that he would, but also hoping that there was no more to tell. His family was complicated, she'd already known that, but she hadn't thought that she would have to expect this much as well as his temper and mind reading abilities. But she couldn't really help any of that and she felt as if she had to stay, it was as if she was starting to live for him. She knew that he needed her so walking away wasn't an option.

I don't want or need to hear the trials and tribulations of a couple of eleven year olds" this was becoming ridiculous as far as she was concerned. "Please John, tell us what you have to say."

Jack leant him head against the wall, wow, this was uncomfortable.

"Well the next term, Jose started the school but as a 4th year, you see he had been going to this other wizard school as we thought if he went to another one the curse wouldn't work, but then when Liam died we wanted him near so our parents asked if he would transfer and he said that he would, so he come here."

He looked around wondering how many people were still following what he was saying. "Then when he started here, he got realy friendly with Professor Dumont in his first year here he only spent a bit of time on his own." He thought about how to say the next thing. "We went to visit grandad that summer as there was a threat against the family and dad wanted us out of the way, but Jose unfortunatly didn't get the message and spent the summer alone at home." He turned to Professor Dumont. "I think you might want to add to that since I realy don't know that much about it, only the things that I have found out."

John was getting into the flow of things now so he continued talking. "Well the next term, Jose spend a lot of time talking to the Professor here and once again, i'll let him talk about that." He smiled and hoped that the professor would full in those gaps as even he and Jack didn't know about it. He smiled at Jack in away that said I do care about you.

He dranks some more pumkin juice before finishing off the tale. "Well at the end of the term Jose took off and we thought that it was the Professors fault and so decided to see him and ask him why he had let Jose do it and so on, but we went to far and got detention, then in detention we realised it was all a mistake and now Professor Dumont is trying to help us break the curse".

A sudden idea came over John. "Kaycee if you were here four years ago, did my brother say anything to you?" It was a long shot but well worth it if they found out were Liam hung out during his short time at hogwart. He looked at her and hoped that she would have some good news. "And final now Professor Dumont has a letter from Jose if you want to read it, then I'm sure the Professor won't mind letting you." He once again turned to look at the Professor. "We are just waiting for one back from Jose now, which should arrive any day soon we hope." He then looked at them again but seriously this time. "And I aren't repeating this again." he laughed . "Any question?" he then decided to stop there as he was out off breath.

Jack put his head up, so he was looking at Kayla "I am going to repeat what I said in the common room, just so people can comment" Jack sighed before starting "I told you the truth, Ok, In the great hall, I hit my head and passed out, he saved me, I was annoyed about my brother who left to go and live with muggles, apparently Dumont helped him, So John and I went to his office, he told me some things I couldn't comprehend so I flipped and trashed his office, then he put us in detention, I found out some things about him and we talked, I broke down, he wanted to break down and John just became a river of tears" Jack paused

"Then he let us out after the horrible detention and we decided to try and be nice since I realised he tried to stop Jose, now we are trying to stop the curse that has been put on our family, I jumped in the lake to try and find Liam's part of the letter which tells us how to release the curse, Liam died in the lake, and I nearly drowned, Dumont saved me again, and I have my guard up against people I don't know and people I do, so he's trying to help me, but he tried to use my girlfriend to get to me and I don't like it, I think it is unfair!" Jack finished off.

"Hey, just calm down ok? Breath. None of us are trying anything now and it didn't work did it? He tried yes, and I shouldn't have got involved. But remember we were only trying to help and at the time I didn't know what was wrong, and I was just trying to find out." She placed her hand on his arm and smiled reassuringly. "Yes it was unfair and I promise I wont get involved in anything like that again. And I will stand by you, not Dumont, but you."

Kayla listened as Professor Dumont spoke and again Jack's version of events and the stories did indeed coincide with each other. She was leaning more towards the Professor's version and the fact that Sakura had nothing to add especially after her little spiel earlier on, only made her more confident in the Professor. But she wasn't about to leave any stone unturned.

"Professor Dumont, this is quite a story and a lot to take in. If I may I would like to speak to you alone" she gave the kids in the office a fleeting look before turning back to Dumont. "Obviously you are still busy" she gestured towards the twins and Sakura. "Perhaps we could arrange a time?"

Well first things first, I would like to thank you for the offer of money to return and I would like to accept, but how much money it would take me to get home, I have no idea. I have told the head about my family situation and even though she is sad that I will be leaving and so are the children, Apparently I'm not a bad teacher.

Like I was saying at the end of this year I will hopefully be back at home, I have decided to see the year out here, I hope you don't mind, it gives me the chance to find out how much I will need, I hoped that we can come to some arrangement it seems like I miss you and everyone so much, that even though I love my job, I know that family comes first and it seems like Jack and John needs me more than anything else.

Well I'll give you more information later.

John who had been busy looking at Kaycee wondered what the owl said. "Professor is the owl from Jose?" He hoped it was as it ment that he had the owl from Professor Dumont already and now they were to know what was going to happen.

"Indeed, I think that would be a very good idea," Antonio said, hoping to have a word with Kayla in private as well but knowing that now was not the right time for such a meeting. "Let me see, I should be free immediately after I finish teaching my first lesson, how does that sound to you? I'm getting ready to present it tomorrow, in fact, I was just finalizing the details a bit earlier." Antonio would do his best to ensure that his office was finally empty after the lesson was over, although that was certainly no easy task.

Antonio looked up at Jack and John. "I have something I would like to share with the two of you," he said. "It is indeed a letter from your brother Jose, and I think I would call it more good news than bad news." He held the letter out for the two boys to read. "Or, I can read it to you, if you'd rather. It doesn't help any with the search, but it is comforting news."

He looked back at the letter "It gives me the chance to find out how much I will need, I hoped that we can come to some arrangement it seems like I miss you and everyone so much, that even though I love my job, I know that family comes first and it seems like Jack and John needs me more than anything else" Jack looked at the handwriting, this was Jose "Family does come first!" He exclaimed "Well I'll give you more information later" Jack mumbled "Why later? Why not NOW" he asked loudly.

He was starting to get annoyed and upset, he needed to think about the techniques Dumont had told him about, what were they? Oh, who could think when his brother was too far away "How do you make a portkey, sir?" Jack asked as if he was just generally interested. He used an air of innocence in his voice, maybe Dumont would fall for it, just maybe. Jack knew holing back his upset would lead to something more stupid later on, he didn't care, yet.

Antonio could see that Jack was upset by Jose's response, he could understand that in a way. "Money isn't the problem," he explained. "I am not without means myself, finances and money are not a problem to me, either in the wizarding world or the muggle world. I am willing to pay any amount of cash to bring Jose back, anything, but it isn't going to do any good if he isn't willing to accept it. If he insists on staying over there and not coming back until the end of term, offering him all the money in the world isn't going to change his mind and make him come any sooner. Once you make your mind up about something, that's the end of it, unfortunately."

Antonio heard Jack asking about how to make a portkey. He thought he knew why he was asking that question, and that it wasn't just out of idle curiosity. He decided to tell the truth, anyway. "I'm not really good at making portkeys," he said. "That's an area that would be covered in charms or transfiguration, and it may be that the professor for one of those classes would be willing to explain to you how you go about doing that. If you have a valid reason, of course." Antonio was beginning to wonder if they shouldn't just apparate to where Jose was and give the boys a chance to see Jose, but unfortunately, he wasn't able to do that just yet. It was a risky thing, there had to be some other alternative to getting this matter resolved. Antonio supposed that the best thing they could do at this point, the smartest thing, was simply to search for the missing piece of the letter and try to break the curse.

Jack looked at Dumont "Okay sir, thanks anyway, I'll ask the charms professor" Jack smiled "I can persuade Jose, I'm sure I can" Jack told him.

"Well, you might have more luck with him than anyone else would, it's true," Antonio said. "You two just might be the only ones who can persuade your brother to come home before the end of term. In the meantime, we should get to work finding that piece of the letter, because I don't believe it's in the lake. My feeling is that it's hidden somewhere inside the school."

Suddenly there was this boy who looked around about sixteen in the office. He smiled at them all and waited for them to talk. He knew he didn't have long because he was due back a work in 20 minutes.

John looked up and wondered what was going on, he hid behind the nice Professor and said. "Please Professor what is happening." He was scared what if it was someone coming to get him.

Antonio saw Jack faint, and tried to revive him quickly. It was important that he see his brother now, he wasn't sure if this would be his only chance or not, there was no telling when Jose would be able to come back and visit again and the time was so brief!
