Come up to the door of Professor Dumont’s office and knock, the professor is usually in and is happy to talk to you about whatever you may have in mind, especially if it involves muggle studies.

As you walk through the door of Professor Dumont’s office, you are struck by the fact that at least part of this room appears not to be that magical at all, but looking rather like an office you might see on muggle television (had you ever had the chance to see muggle television, that is!) The main feature of the room is a very large wood desk with a nice comfortable chair behind it, a purple, cushiony chair. There are a couple chairs in front of the desk, which appears as though it may be oak, both these chairs are a dark green velvet, padded, and appear very comfortable as well. The rug on the floor is a forest green color, imprinted with a variety of flowers in many different colors, it is very relaxing and lovely, one of the prettiest rugs you could ever find. Professor Dumont inherited this rug from his family, it is an heirloom.

On the right hand wall you notice many photos calling to mind muggle entertainers. There are photos of various muggle rock bands from the ‘60’s and ‘70’s including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin (it turns out that Professor Dumont loves this type of music). There are pictures of Elvis Presley as well, along with such muggle icons as Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, and many others.

On.the wall immediately behind the desk are some photos that are obviously personal. There are pictures of a very old castle with high pirouetting towers, this is Castle Dumont, Antonio’s family home. You gather that it is located somewhere in France, and you would be correct. You will also find many of the pictures that move and talk, wizarding pictures, there is a man and a woman in their 50’s, Professor Dumont’s parents. There is a new picture added this year, one which has a special place right over the Professor's desk. This picture is of a very pretty little girl, no more than 2 years old, with curly dark hair and a somewhat familiar look about her. You would be guessing correctly if you guessed that this is a picture of Professor Dumont's daughter, Antonia Michelle, who he has just become reunited with during the term break. But that's a whole other story, one you may or may not be lucky enough to hear (probably not!)

Along the left wall there is a long table which goes the length of the room. On this table are many muggle items to look at and perhaps even play with, including computers, video monitors that might even pick up muggle television (who knows?), video game systems, cell phones, iPods, skateboards, yoyos, Playdough, Legos, various board games, and a huge variety of books on all subjects. Your eyes fall on this table longingly, perhaps you might have the chance to play with some of these items yourself if you are very good some time, you never know!

"I've been awesome thanks, Professor." Clifford beamed as he stepped inside the Professor's office. "Hope you had a good summer. Did you go hang out with muggles?" Oooh. He probably did! And he probably did all sorts of cool muggle things! Like watch the Veletision and talk on the Feletone! How exciting!

The grin plastered across his lips only widened when Professor Dumont congratulated him. He'd lost time of how many people did that, and really needed to think of a new response. He didn't have the time now though, and moving to retrieve a stray book he'd accidentally kicked on his way in, mumbled a sheepish thanks.

Antonio smiled. "I did for a little bit, as a matter of fact. And I was able to accomplish something that I had set out to do, something that I am very happy that I did. I'm glad your summer was good, as well. It's going to be a great term, though, and I look forward to seeing you in Muggle Studies. I think it's going to be a very interesting and informative term."

Able to accomplish something that he'd set out to do? Well, that sounded interesting. "All I did was get very sunburnt," Clifford told the Professor, setting the book he'd picked up back on the desk and rubbing the back of his neck. "And tried and failed to learn how to swim." He finished, a little embarrassed.

The sixth year perked up at the mention of Muggle Studies, his brown eyes growing bright with excitement. An interesting and informative term, huh? Wheee! "I'll 100%, totally definately be there, Sir." Clifford beamed with a nod. "Do you already have the lessons planned out then? I was interested in learning about cars." They seemed interesting.. not as fun as broomsticks though.

Antonio thought for a moment. "Well, I may be able to include something about cars in my second lesson, you just never know," he said with a mysterious grin. "Ahhh, sometimes it's nice to get a little sunburnt, and do you want to know a secret? I never learned to swim either. Now you know my secret!" He laughed. "It's kind of funny, isn't it? But there are actually a lot of people who never learn to swim, and that's okay. Most people never need to know how to swim, though I guess it couldn't hurt, especially if you live close to water." He laughed.

"Really!? That's great!" Clifford exclaimed enthusiastically, excited at the prospect of maybe learning a little bit about those car things. They were cool. He liked watching the one's around his hometown go all VROOOM VROOOOM!

And Professor Dumont didn't know how to swim either!? And there he was thinking he was completely stupid and the only one who hadn't learnt. The Professor was way older than him, and he couldn't swim! That made Clifford feel a tad better ... he bet like him, Professor Dumont wasn't afraid of water though. Eh.

"Well, I live right by the coast in Cornwall." Clifford admitted, a small crease between his eyebrows. "But I don't mind, 'cause I like watching those butt things. Y'know the things that the muggles float on the water?" OOOH! But how did they float them on the water? Perhaps a lesson on that? EEP!

Peeves flew down the hall past the Muggle studies office. He had a bottle of ink in his hand, and was looking for a student. Maybe he would pour it on their head!

He saw the Muggle studies nameplate and oh! an idea ran through Peeves' wittle brainy-brains...

He dipped his fingers in the ink and went to work.

SOOOO much better! He had to share it with someone. Peeves banged on the door and went invisible, giggling helplessly.

Oh, the professor would be SO SURPRISED!

"Yeah, I might just be able to deal with a little bit on cars, but not too much. There is a lot to cover this term, all kinds of stuff, but I do think cars deserve some mention," Antonio agreed. "They definitely fit the plan of what I want to teach."

Antonio laughed at Clifford's description of his experiences at the beach. "It's pretty living near the water," he agreed. "I'm from the coast of Northern France myself, well, at least my father is, and we lived there for a brief time when I was a boy, before we moved up here so that I could attend Hogwarts. Nothing is prettier or more refreshing than living near the shore. Excuse me just one moment, Clifford."

Antonio was startled by the sound of a commotion outside his door. When he opened the door he didn't see anyone, though he realized that someone had written something on his nameplate outside his door. When he read what was written there, all he could do was laugh and laugh. "Peeves wuz heer!", the nameplate said, and there was just something about it that made him smile, which was kind of strange, he supposed. He had always secretly admired Peeves and the stories he had heard about him, could Peeves really be back at Hogwarts? He could have sworn he had seen the Grey Lady and the Bloody Baron in the Great Hall the other evening.

"AH COULD JUST KISS YOU, AH COULD!" Instead, he poured the rest of the ink from the bottle onto Professor Dumont's hair and eased on down the road... er, corridor, giggling and knocking over anything in his reach.

Clifford smiled politely when the Professor told him about coming from Northern France and living there before moving to attend Hogwarts. He thought France was interesting and was about to ask the man if he'd ever been lucky enough frog's legs and snails when he heard something going on outside. Eh?

And then Professor Dumont started laughing like a crazzeh man. What in the name of Merlin? "Peeves wuz heer?" He read out loud, craning his neck to read what had been written on the nameplate of the office door? That hadn't been there when he'd knocked, he was sure of it. Okaaay. "Is that some kind of foreign language, Sir?" He asked, eyebrows raised curiously. He mut've understood whatever it said to start laughing like that. "OOH! Is it muggle language?" That existed, right?

And then one of the most horrifying things happened, and Clifford's eyes widened in surprise at what he just witnessed. This ... thing ... nose-to-nose with the Professor, shrieked at the top of it's lungs before pouring ink right on the poor bloke's head. "Oh my ..."

Antonio was in complete shock from what had just happened, though now he knew for sure that Peeves was really at the school. There was only one thing that could do this, a force even sneakier and more devious than the Moiser twins. "You saw that, huh?", he asked Clifford, performing a spell to get the ink out of his hair. "I believe that spirit was Peeves, a poltergeist who has been known to frequent Hogwarts in years past. I don't know why, exactly, but it would appear that he and possibly a few other house ghosts have decided to return to our fair halls, but let's keep that confidential for now. And I'm sorry you had to see that!" Antonio looked around, wondering how he might wreak vengeance on the little ghost. There were things he had heard, though he wasn't sure whether they would work or not.

Clifford was just about to lend Dumont the snotty ole' hankie he had stowed away somewhere in his pocket when the Professor performed a spell to get the ink out of his hair. Ah. That was probably a better idea. After usng his hankie, his hair would probably end up all bogeyfied and worse. Bleh.

Peeves, a poltergeist? Goodness. Scary, much?

Poltergeists that liked pouring ink on Professor's head's ... that was pretty neat though. Bwahaha.

"Oh, no worries.." It was pretty hilarious actually.. Clifford just about stopped himself from saying when Professor Dumont apologised for what he'd seen. "I should probably go though.. incase he decided to how up again or something." He finished a little worried. He didn't want the thing to get him next. "I'll see you in class, Professor." And with a polite nod and a small wave, Clifford hastily left the office.

"All right, see you in class," Antonio said. He didn't blame Clifford for leaving, after what had just happened, anyone would rush out of there. It was starting off to be quite a term, first the Moiser twins and now Peeves. He shuddered.

As Jake strolled down the corridor to this Professor's office, he became aware that the name plate on the door had been tampered with. Muggle Stud?

Jake fought the urge to laugh loudly as he knocked on the door, hoping this Professor Dumont, Muggle Stud, was in. Jake was making his way round each professor who hadn't seemed like ~~the Kazi Man~~ some sort of stone age, uptight lunatic.

Should I ask for the Muggle Stud? Soooooo tempting...

Sakura cautiously walked to Professor Dumont's office, she was still extremely weak, but she decided to apologize to him as soon as possible. After all he deserved the apology, and if she didn't do it now she might lose her nerve. When she got to the door she knocked hesitantly, she hoped that he was in.

Antonio was fairly certain that Peeves had left the area of his office and it was safe to open the door when he heard the knock, but he wanted to be sure, anyway. The first knock was immediately followed by a second one, a much lighter knock, and he turned the knob to see who it was. A poltergeist wouldn't knock on the door, he would just come through whenever he felt like it, that was Antonio's feeling on things. "Come on in," he said. There was a boy there who he hadn't met yet as well as the girl who had been with Jack at the Hufflepuff table. He was actually thrilled to see her, maybe she could help him with Jack. An idea suddenly began to grow in his mind, if she was willing. If she really cared about Jack and wanted him to be able to stay at Hogwarts, she might be willing to play along. It was worth a shot!

When the door opened Sakura smiled relieved, maybe she could sit down now. "Hello Professor Dumont." She said in a quiet voice before entering the room. She saw him give her a calculating look and wondered what he was thinking, seeing as it wasn't a displeased one. He wanted her for something she could tell, but what exactly? Indicating to one of the chairs she asked, "May I sit down?"

"Yes, please do," Antonio said, gesturing towards one of the more comfortable chairs in the room. "Are you feeling all right? May I get you anything, juice or anything like that?" He noticed that Jack's friend looked awfully tired today, like she had been through some personal ordeal of some kind. He would give her a little time before he said anything about Jack, it was better if she started doing the talking, anyway. He could even make it look like everything was her idea if he was lucky. He was getting the sense that she did really care about Jack, so she might be the only person left who could reach out to him and save him.

"Thank-you Professor." Sakura said as she sat down in one of the chairs, "I'll be fine but thank-you for offering." She said in reference to the food. He was still eying her like he was planning to manipulate her in some way. Oh well he had been a Slytherin student, so there was no surprise there really.

"I actually came here to apologize once more for my display in the Great Hall, at the welcoming feast. I know that my behaviour was uncalled for, and you certainly didn't deserve to be the target of my anger and fear at the whole situation. I also know that I should not have let others opinions, no matter how close that person is to me, affect my judgement concerning another person, especially since Jack doesn't actually know you." Here Sakura took a deep breathe, here was the part where she had to make herself look sincere in her previous words, even though she was asking for something back. "What I really want to ask is if we could start over and if there was anything I could do to earn back the points I lost for Slytherin?" She said this with a sincere smile and an innocent look in her eyes, there was absolutely no signs of manipulation, but that would be because she wasn't trying to manipulate the professor, only state her case.

"I see," Antonio said, listening intently to everything Sakura had to say. He wasn't in the least surprised by her plea, he would have done the exact same thing in her situation and would have been very disappointed had she not done so. "Actually, I suppose there just might be something you could do to earn those points back, if you really wanted to and if you were willing. It's actually something that might benefit you in the long run. Would you like to hear more about what I have in mind? Because the thing is, it involves your friend Jack. I think you might the single person on earth who might be able to reach him and help him. Interested?" Antonio had manipulated situations his entire life, so this was nothing new to him. This time all three parties stood to gain something, though, not just himself, so that was really a win/win situation.

"You're trying to manipulate me but sure. Why not, hearing you out wont do any harm. However I want a condition, I get the points back if I try, he can be incredibly stubborn and I may not be able to reach him." Sakura said, she knew manipulation when she saw it, but if it was about Jack and if it would help him, then she had to at least listen didn't she?

"In fact, I think you are the only person Jack will listen to, I don't believe he would even listen to his own brother at this point in time. You are the one person who means something to him, the one person he is willing to listen to. See, I think Jack is basically a good guy, I really do, but there is something that's holding him back from being the person he can be. I already know that he's special, with the potential to become a great wizard, yes, perhaps one of the greatest wizards of our day, even, but he's headed in a bad direction right now.

So, that brings me to you and your job. I want you to try and reach Jack, to find out what it is that's bothering him and to help him, or it might be easier just to bring it to me because I do suspect that what's bothering Jack may be too much for you to handle even if you do find out." Antonio frowned. "In fact, you should report your progress with Jack to me on a regular basis, so we can figure out the best way we can help him change his life around. You see, I'm honestly afraid that if Jack continues the way he is, that he's going to get kicked out of Hogwarts. And I don't think either one of us want to see that happen, do we? So you see, it isn't me you'd be doing the favor for, it's actually you and Jack. But sure, my deal with the point reversal would stand, and there might even be something extra in it for you if you do succeed." Antonio wasn't going to go any further with that at this point, but he definitely knew how to reward sincere and honest effort. His response was intentionally vague.

Sakura pondered what he said, it was obvious he was using the right words to make her go along with it, but he may just be right, and she didn't want her boyfriend to get kicked out. "If I were to help out, how regular would be regular? Also if he's been acting strangely it hasn't been around me, although he's said some things about things he's done that makes me believe that when I'm not around he can be a different person. Even though we are close, I'll need to know the patterns that you see so that I can look out for them myself. I also may need help from his brother at some point, after all I cannot be with him all the time." Sakura couldn't believe that she was considering this, but her housemates would kill her if she bypassed an opportunity to earn the points back. "Can I ask you something professor? Did you really encourage their brother to leave home, because somehow I don't believe that you did." She contemplated what he said about Jack's power and she knew that he was right, he could be great if he wanted to be, it was attractive and drew you in. She knew that if she was going to do this, she would have to lie to Jack, and she didn't like the thought of it. Sure she lied, she was a Slytherin after all but still. But no, she would have to. Depending on the pattern in his strange behaviour she started thinking out several different ways she could find out what was wrong, she couldn't flat out ask him, he wouldn't tell her anyway most likely, however she could get him to react, mention things that might trigger the behavioural change, which would give her clues.

Antonio shuddered, thinking back to the stories he had heard of a young boy who once attended Hogwarts by the name of Tom Riddle. He didn't want to see Jack go down that path. "I think Jack is hiding a lot of stuff, that he has secrets which are painful for him to talk about and so he simply chooses to hide them and disguise them by acting the way he does. I really believe that the reason he does the things he does are because of the fact that he has suffered, and I don't believe he is ever going to get better until this all comes out. But I have a feeling that his pain may be something too great for you to deal with on your own, and that's why I'm involved. You may also involve his brother, of course, if you think it would help in finding out what it is which is bugging Jack. I also think Jack is gifted in a way that most wizards aren't, almost as if he has the gift of legilmancy, the ability to read minds. I suspect that might be the case, so you have to be very, very careful with him. He may be able to read your mind, so you have to try and keep it as blank as you possibly can, try and shield your thoughts. Do you think you can do that, Sakura?" Antonio wished there were a way he could give Sakura a little training in the art of occlumency, it was the only real way to defend oneself against something like this.

When the Professor said something about him leading the world down a dark path she just knew that he was talking about Voldemort. "Oh don't worry Professor Dumont, I'll be careful, I wont lose him over this. John said something this summer about him believing that Jack like Jose could read minds, however I've never garnered any indication that he can read my mind. Though I may not involve John in this if you suspect that he can too. However I'm not sure where to start with this, I mean if I ask about his childhood he could tell me anything he wanted. Asking about Jose and you, may seem to forward, and may make him suspicious. The only thing I can think of his pushing him, until he gives a completely involuntary reaction, but with his raw magic I wouldn't want to be around when it happened, I heard about what happened to your office." Sakura said with a slight shrug and cheeky grin. "I think knowing what really happened to Jose might help, but I don't know what actually happened so I can't do anything about that. Although if I suggested things he may take them into consideration, if I could just see the note that he left them, things might be easier. I think a lot of it is tied into the fact that his brother Liam drowned in the lake here and now Jose has disappeared. That would cause some psychological trauma. I wonder if he'll actually take the Muggle Studies class. If he did it would make things interesting, to see the way he acts around you, what he says, how he says it, whether he'll be willing to believe that there is anything good about you." Sakura trailed off in desperate need of breath.

"Actually, it might help if you know the true story of what happened with Jack's brother, Jose," Antonio said. "The truth is, I tried my best to keep Jose from leaving and running off on some mission, but he refused to listen, just wanted to go off and see the world on his own. I think he regrets that decision but doesn't want to admit it, and though I've offered him money to come back to Hogwarts immediately and finish his education, I'm not sure if he's ready yet. I'll let you see a letter I have from him," Antonio sighed.

I did respond back to this letter immediately, offering him, once again, any amount of money he might need to return to school here." Antonio shook his head in complete exasperation. I never knew Liam, he died before I came to teach here at Hogwarts, but he sounded like he was a good kid, too, but I think he must have been haunted by problems, as well. In fact, the whole family seems to be full of talented witches and wizards. There is more tragedy, too. Jose's stepmother, she left suddenly without any warning, and my wife Bethany, who was very much pregnant with our baby girl, left with her. No one knows what caused them to leave, but I suspect it might have had something to do with the same force which caused Jose to go." He hoped he wasn't involving Sakura into something she couldn't handle. "By the way, I suspect John may be gifted, as well, though I'm not quite certain in what ways he is yet. I think he may be able to help us somewhere down the road."
