Come up to the door of Professor Dumont’s office and knock, the professor is usually in and is happy to talk to you about whatever you may have in mind, especially if it involves muggle studies.

As you walk through the door of Professor Dumont’s office, you are struck by the fact that at least part of this room appears not to be that magical at all, but looking rather like an office you might see on muggle television (had you ever had the chance to see muggle television, that is!) The main feature of the room is a very large wood desk with a nice comfortable chair behind it, a purple, cushiony chair. There are a couple chairs in front of the desk, which appears as though it may be oak, both these chairs are a dark green velvet, padded, and appear very comfortable as well. The rug on the floor is a forest green color, imprinted with a variety of flowers in many different colors, it is very relaxing and lovely, one of the prettiest rugs you could ever find. Professor Dumont inherited this rug from his family, it is an heirloom.

On the right hand wall you notice many photos calling to mind muggle entertainers. There are photos of various muggle rock bands from the ‘60’s and ‘70’s including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin (it turns out that Professor Dumont loves this type of music). There are pictures of Elvis Presley as well, along with such muggle icons as Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, and many others.

On.the wall immediately behind the desk are some photos that are obviously personal. There are pictures of a very old castle with high pirouetting towers, this is Castle Dumont, Antonio’s family home. You gather that it is located somewhere in France, and you would be correct. You will also find many of the pictures that move and talk, wizarding pictures, there is a man and a woman in their 50’s, Professor Dumont’s parents. There is a new picture added this year, one which has a special place right over the Professor's desk. This picture is of a very pretty little girl, no more than 2 years old, with curly dark hair and a somewhat familiar look about her. You would be guessing correctly if you guessed that this is a picture of Professor Dumont's daughter, Antonia Michelle, who he has just become reunited with during the term break. But that's a whole other story, one you may or may not be lucky enough to hear (probably not!)

Along the left wall there is a long table which goes the length of the room. On this table are many muggle items to look at and perhaps even play with, including computers, video monitors that might even pick up muggle television (who knows?), video game systems, cell phones, iPods, skateboards, yoyos, Playdough, Legos, various board games, and a huge variety of books on all subjects. Your eyes fall on this table longingly, perhaps you might have the chance to play with some of these items yourself if you are very good some time, you never know!

Antonio turned to Barry. "Oh, you haven't heard the news, then?", he asked. "Bethany disappeared shortly after the time you left and hasn't been heard from since. She was pregnant with our daughter at the time, and was also with another family friend, Erin. Erin is the stepmother of Jack here." He gestured towards Jack. "To make a long story short, I received a mysterious call from a nunnery in France letting me know that they had a baby girl there who was showing magical abilities. I went down there over the break and discovered that it was indeed our daughter Antonia Michelle, and she is now staying at my house with someone taking care of her while I'm away." Antonio thought about the money he was paying to have Antonia cared for and realized it was all well worth it, every sickle of it. He was happy to have her back.

"I'd like to hear all about it," Antonio told Jack. "Just give me a few moments. Barry, this is Jack Moiser and his girlfriend Sakura. As I mentioned, Erin is Jack's stepmother. His brother John is here at Hogwarts as well. This is Reese, and this is Piper." He gestured to the two young ladies.

Jack nodded while searching the office with his eyes, he knew what Dumont was going to say before he'd said it, Jack smiled awkwardly "Erin" he repeated, his step-mums name, why did he have a feeling something was wrong?

Antonio heard Jack repeat his stepmother's name and realized the thing that was drawing them all together in the first place, what it all started with, was the disappearance of Erin and his wife Bethany, or Beth, as she was better known. That was the event which had really prompted Jose to go off on his own, even though he had told Antonio otherwise. Antonio now realized that Jose had probably gone looking for the two women, and wondered about what had happened over there in Holland, the fire that John had seen and which Jose had escaped from. He really wished he could talk to Jose now, he held the key to so many missing pieces. "What is it, Jack, what are you afraid of?", he asked. "Tell me about this nightmare."

"Erin is actually my real aunt" mused Barry quitely, "I liked her, I`m sorry for you both, and for dad. He was sad when she dissapeared. Went to the ministry even more often, " then he looked at professer he said "I asked if you had any muggle contraption to lock, you know for charms homework" and Barry smilled to Sakura "I know her, were related as well, How are you Sakura?"

Jack looked up "John, Jose and Liam, they all started on me" Jack's voice shook "They called me things I've never heard before" Jack whimpered "They also said some things I have heard, but I never thought I would hear them from my family" Jack was so quiet, he was almost whispering, he stopped, he wanted to make sure Dumont understood this before Jack carried on.

It has a three digit combination on it that you have to turn different ways to unlock it, this one came off an old high school gym locker. Or how about this bicycle lock? You can take either one of these, or both!" Antonio held the objects out to Barry. He stopped a moment before saying, "Yes, come to think of it, you knew Jack's brothers, didn't you, as well as his father Liam? Of course you did! And I didn't realize that you and Sakura were related. What a small world."

Antonio turned to Jack, "Jack, I don't think your brothers would say those kind of things to you. Why would they do that? They love and care for you, I know that. John worries about you sometimes and gets frustrated, but he loves you."

Jack moaned "No, you didn't hear the things they said, they called me a" Jack's voice dropped "failure" he sniffed "and, they called me an idiot, they told me things I don't wanna hear" Jack cried.

Piper looked around at all the commotion and she sighed, but she was taken by surprise as she heard that Professor Dumont was married..Her eyes went wise as she heard his had a baby. She opened her mouth, and closed it again, nodding to all those the Professor had introduced her too. "How do you do." She said softly, as she gulped, turning slightly pale.

Jack threw Piper an amused look, she fancied Dumont, and she was surprised Dumont had a kid. He then returned to his previous state, upset, he wanted John, to come and tell him it was alright.

"They would never call you those things," Antonio said. "Words like that are sometimes said in anger, but there's no way that they could ever apply to you. You are extremely gifted and talented, talented in ways that a lot of people can't even comprehend. With the right training and education, I think you could become a great wizard." Antonio was very honest in what he was saying.

Antonio turned and saw the look of shock on Piper's face. He realized that she must not have known that he was ever married, even though that marriage no longer existed. Bethany was gone forever, and he was left to raise Antonia on his own. He planned to take a vacation with her once the term was over, some place warm and pleasant. His daughter was 2 now and he had hardly seen her at all.

Jack trailed off "I am not talented, I am a failure, a pathetic failure" Jack repeated their words exactly "Who would train me?" Jack asked sadly.

Piper saw the boy look at her with an amused look and she realized he had probably figured out she liked the Professor. A slow blush started to creep into her face and she looked at the boy. " Are you alright?" She asked him trying to get the focus off of herself.

"Yes, you are anything but a failure, you have more potential than you know, far more than you can imagine," Antonio said. "As to who would train you, I'm not sure who wiould be qualified for something like that. It would have to be someone who possesses similar skills." Antonio thought about it, not many people were skilled with legilmancy, and he knew very few people had the ability naturally. All of these things made Jack truly exceptional. Unfortunately she isn't here at Hogwarts with me, she is back home and I have a woman who takes care of her and lives there with her, someone who is very good. I plan to spend the break between terms with her, but I wish I had more chance to spend some time with her. These are such important years." He nodded sadly.

She was very gifted in the same kind of way that Jack is, and would be someone that could help him with this." He turned to Jack. "Monica Black was gifted in a way similar to you, and was one of the most intelligent and talented witches I have ever met. Unfortunately, despite this, she too has disappeared."

"Yes, feel free to use whatever you like, including the drawers," Antonio urged Barry. "We want you to achieve a good grade, after all."

He didn't want to say the word legilmancy, but he knew that Barry knew that was what he meant.

Piper looked at Jack and she had a strange feeling he could read her mind, either that or her face was to expressive. " What is wrong?" She asked genuinely concerned. "Can I help?" She asked believing that he actually knew how she felt, highly let down, sad..and somewhat alone..

Piper looked at the Professor sadly, " I am sorry to hear that, it must be very hard being away from her, especially during this time." She said softly, " Did you get to spend time with her, during this past summer?" She asked curiously, somehow her liking for him had just increased, though she knew what the ending would be. " Do you have a picture?" She asked, now very curious.

Then seeing the desk he nodded to the professer "Thanks Professor" he said and he went to the desk and placed a lock on the drawer, he waited for the others to speak before practicing.

Amtonio smiled. Piper was very understanding. "Actually, I just brought her back with me this past term. I received notice that there was a magical child at a nunnery in France, so I traveled there and sure enough, the child was my daughter. You see, this was the first time I had ever set eyes on her, yet I knew that this was Antonia." He pointed to the picture on the wall, the new one, which showed the pretty little girl with curly dark hair and features very much like Antonio himself. "That's Antonia, right there. She is already showing signs of being a witch," he said proudly, though it wasn't surprising. Both her parents were magical, after all. Still, he felt pride in her, pride that she was his daughter.

Antonio thought for a moment. "Actually, Jack's brother John is gifted as well, but in a differrent way," he said. "John sees things before they happen." He wondered about Liam and Jose, whether they had gifts of their own, as well as their father Liam. He looked at Jack as he pondered this.

Antonio smiled softly. "Thank you, Piper," he said. "I appreciate that. And yes, it is like a miracle that I have littlle Antonia here with me. Unfortunately she isn't here at Hogwarts with me, she is back home and I have a woman who takes care of her and lives there with her, someone who is very good. I plan to spend the break between terms with her, but I wish I had more chance to spend some time with her. These are such important years." He nodded sadly.

Antonio thought a moment. Hearing the name Monica brought back memories. "Yes, Monica," he said softly. "I remember her well. She was very gifted in the same kind of way that Jack is, and would be someone that could help him with this." He turned to Jack. "Monica Black was gifted in a way similar to you, and was one of the most intelligent and talented witches I have ever met. Unfortunately, despite this, she too has disappeared."

"Yes, feel free to use whatever you like, including the drawers," Antonio urged Barry. "We want you to achieve a good grade, after all."

Antonio looked at Jack. "As Barry mentioned, there are others. Monica was someone who also shared this gift which you have. I only wish she was still here to help us."

He thought for a moment. "Barry, do you know of anyone else who is skilled in these things? Anyone who might still be at Hogwarts?" Antonio couldn't think of anyone offhand, but he didn't have a chance to mingle with people as much as the students themselves. He didn't want to say the word legilmancy, but he knew that Barry knew that was what he meant.

Jack stared "Monica Black, missing" he was starting to worry now "Others" he repeated blankly

Piper looked at the Professor sadly, " I am sorry to hear that, it must be very hard being away from her, especially during this time." She said softly, " Did you get to spend time with her, during this past summer?" She asked curiously, somehow her liking for him had just increased, though she knew what the ending would be. " Do you have a picture?" She asked, now very curious.

Jack smiled at her "Don't worry, I'll be fine" he promised "one day" he added quietly, he knew how she felt, he had started to feel that way now, he gave her a sad smile.

"I believe Monica was related to your stepmother, Erin, and knew your father as well," Antonio said simply. This whole thing was getting very complicated.
