| | Muggle Studies Lesson 1 - Currency Conversion and Muggle Fashions
Antonio walked into the classroom, getting things ready for the students ahead of time. There were two differrent subjects he wanted to cover in today's lesson, so he knew that time was of the essence. The first part of the lesson was going to focus on currency conversion, so he began to get his materials out for the students as they entered the room.
The first item was a converter chart which would convert wizarding money into United States dollars - Harry Potter currency converter
The second item was another converter chart, this one converted the British pound, the U.S. dollar, the Canadian dollar, the Euro dollar, the Australian dollar and the Japanese yen back and forth into one of the other type of currency. Currency Converter - Yahoo! Finance
There were other types of currency in the world, of course, but Antonio had found these sources easy to work with and thought the students would be able to use the materials easily in class.
He waited for the students to show up, calling out instructions to each person as they entered.
"Good morning, everyone. We are going to be working with a couple different things today, but the first part deals with currency. Please take one of each of the two handouts as you enter, then take a seat and we'll be getting ready soon. Feel free to take a chocolate chip cookie, as well, and perhaps some pumpkin juice." He gestured to the serving area to the side of his desk. |

Natka frowned as she began typing in the numbers into her calculator - numbers had never been her best friends.
Nevertheless, she ended up with an answer.
"20 Galleons, 13 Sickles and 17 Knuts, Professor Dumont," she replied.

Before we do that, though, I would like to have you all work on converting wizarding money into the United States dollar. To start, I want to see if you can figure out $100.00 in United States money is equal to in wizarding world money. Everyone, go ahead and use your calculators to perform this exercise, please. We'll be using this calculator a bit more then move on to the other calculator, then the second part of the lesson." Cadence raised her hand. 20 galleons, 13 sickles, and 17 knuts, Professor.

Hogwarts RPG Name: *whistle* | NeeNee Omniscient Omnipotent Pie Maker They were attracting attention. It wasn't his fault Blast It! Couldn't they see Aggie was picking on him! Though the idea of the diminutive witch victimizing him at his gargantuan stature was laughable, he wasn't finding it funny.
Tobi did the math, math was one of his better talents, "20 galleons, 13 sickles and 17 knuts, Professor," he raised his hand and called desperately, before rounding on the kid from his house who had tried to tell them off.
"Tell her -" he whispered shaking his head at Aggie "to knock it off if you're so worried. But I assure you, I can handle this just fine without your help which will probably only get us into more trouble, so thank you for your concern, I've got this under controll."
He turned back and faced the front of the class, sitting up very straight. "Are you happy now?" He muttered out of the corner of his mouth. "Can you cease and decist?"

Jack sat at the desk, he took his feet off the desk and rested his head on one hand while jabbing the calculator with a quill *sigh* Bored, he was so bored, he started to prise the calculator open, what was this? Circuitry? Jack had heard of it, he poked the funny looking wires with the end of his quill, he couldn't do maths, EVER.

"Excuse me, is there a problem?", Antonio asked, noticing that a few Gryffindors seemed to be bantering back and forth. "Something I should know?" He looked around the room.
"20 galleons, 13 sickles and 17 knuts is the correct answer. That is what you would need in wizarding money to get $100 in American money."
"Now, I think we are done with that calculator for right now, there will be more exercises on the homework. Since we have to move on, I would like you to take the other calculator Currency Converter - Yahoo! Finance (this one) and do the following conversions for me. Again, we are going to use $100 in U.S. money. I would like you to figure out the values in the English pound, the Euro-dollar, the Canadian dollar, the Australian dollar and the Japanese yen. I will give points to all students who do the work correctly."

Everyone would get different answers by the decimal." Matilda said promptly. Not knowing the answer by the thousandth was starting to bug her.

Karma scribbled furiously on her paper each time she calculated what was correct. Or what, she thought was correct. "For $100 in US money, in the English pound it would be 69.74 pounds. The Euro-dollar would be 75.45. In Canadian dollars it would be $121.03. Austrailian dollar amounts would be 148.81, and finally, the yen would be 8999."
That was a long answer.

| Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict Elizabeth started doing a flurry of calculations after the professor gave the assignment. "$100 US is equivalent to 75.49 in Euro-dollars, 69.82 pounds, 120.95 in Canadian dollars, 149.30 in Australian dollars, and 8986.50 in yen." Her eyes widened a bit at the last calculation, since that was a big difference.

"Nope!" Aggie chirped up, happy to make air of the problems around her and let them drop just as quickly as they popped up. She was quite oblivious to most things, especially when she choose to. In this case, she was happy to ignore Tobi's chastising. But then the Fink boy who assumed he was a house prefect had to say something. That's it, you're dead after class. She thought to herself as she looked over the handout and started calculating the answers. She'd think of some way to pay Fink-boy back later. Right now she had work to do.
