Barry approached the counter. He wasn`t exactly sure of what he was supposed to do, but start here right? Barry pushed forward 100 gallions to the counter and asked "Can I have this exchanged into dollars?"

The other two both seemed a tad busy right now, so Jake decided he may as well serve Barry while he was free. "Hey there... you certainly can!" he smiled counting out the galleons five at a time until he reached the full one hundred. Reaching under the counter, Jake pulled out a bundle of american dollars before slapping it on the counter. "Here," he said. "Five hundred... use it well... good luck... yada yada yada..."

Giving a last grin, Jake ducked down and started to sort the galleons they already had into bags of ten for later, before putting ten bags together to they could count to make sure later.

Leeroy walked into the money exchange and nervously handed his 100 galleons to the exchanger. "I'd like some muggle money please." He knew where he was going but he was nervous. What if he had chosen the wrong event?

Ross walked over to the young Ravenclaw and took his 100 galleons before placing 500 dollars in his hand. "Here you go" He said "Use it wisely"

"Thank you sir." He said politely before moving on.

Of course it had to be the one boy she didn't know, Elizabeth thought for a second as he came over to help her. But she smiled anyway. No need for anyone else to know what she was thinking. "That's good," she said in response to his answer to her question. "I'm doing really good. Looking forward to the end of finals," she said with a grin. As he handed her the American dollars, she flipped through the stack, just to check that there was actually five hundred dollars there. She was fairly certain that the only way the exchange was right was if there was a really strange exchange rate being used, but it was an assignment, and if they had been told to give everyone five hundred, she was sure there was a reason. Even if she wasn't quite sure what it was right now.

Slipping the money back into the bag, she put it in her purse before glancing at the boy with another smile. "Well, have a nice day," she said, before turning to leave. Off to the next stage of this little quest thing.

At last her knowledge about Muggles and their way of living would have a big compensation, or she hoped it would be big. It would all depend on how the final went, she supposed and, well, if they were going to be in the Muggle world then it was possible for things not to go as well as she wanted to believe it. After all, she wasn't going to stay in dear England, was she? And that was definitely not her only worry, the only thing she had to consider. Oh no, for she also could not forget the fact that she wouldn't be working with the same coin as she was used to and that she'd be going back in time, which meant that people would be different from what she was used to and not just the people but society itself.

Oh dear, this could really become dangerous. Hopefully someone wouldn't mind being by her side, for she really didn't want to be all alone in the strange world she was about to set her feet on.

Before that might happen, though, Melina would have to get that foreign money into her hands and that, that was not hazardous at all, was it? At least the other students appeared to be leaving the store unharmed. But then again, were those Hogwarts students she saw giving out the money? Uh. If every place she had to go to had her colleagues populating it, then maybe it wouldn't be as scary as she believed it to be.

It was with that merry thought that a suddenly cheerful Melly approached the counter, glad that, for once, it was short enough for part of her torso to be exposed. Obviously, that single fact was an omen that things would go on fine, for each and every time she had went to Gringotts, her day had gone awfully wrong, and everyone knew just how absurdly tall those counters were.

"Hi," She greeted in a friendly tone. "I'd like to have these 100 galleons exchanged into US dollars, please," She asked her fellow students, placing the said money on top of the counter.

Messenger bag heaving on her shoulder and her long, dark hair tied on a ponytail, the girl entered the currency exchange place, a wary expression decorating her facial features. Granted, after that Muggle Studies class in which Professor Dummont had told them all about muggle money, Willow thought she'd know her way around it, the truth was that other than that. . . all the things she knew about Muggles . . . well, she'd never put them in practice. Needless to say, the fifth year was quite certain she would be very, very lost during this exam.

And if it shipping them off to the Muggle Society wasn't enough, they would be traveling in time, too! And not only that, but they would not even be in Britain.

Perfect. Just perfect.

Not.

Heaving one heavy sigh, the young Ravenclaw went directly to the counter. "Hello," mused the girl as politely as she could, as she took out a little bag full of gold. "One hundred and twenty five galleons exchanged into dollars, please - US dollars, that is." And quickly, added Willow mentally. "Oh. Hi, Melina," added the girl, noticing her friend.

With a perfectly polite smile on her lips, Melina took the money from the boy's hands, placing it within her purse which she put inside of her bag. Making sure the last was well closed (she didn't want to lose a single dollar, for she might need it), she raised her head to face the boy again. "Thank you," She beamed, both for the money and the wish of good luck. "Oh, I will," She promised. She sure would be careful with how much she used. Yep, yep.

Melly was about to turn and leave the shop, her mind already pondering on which city she was supposed to go to when she heard a voice she knew quite well coming from someone next to her, someone who had obviously just arrived and was not in the best of moods. Eyebrows flickering up with surprise, she rose her face only to end up grinning yet again.

YES! That was her lucky day! She'd be showing her Muggle knowledge AND she'd do it accompanied! And with a friend, which was much better. Now there was no problem at all about getting lost for she was sure that Willow wouldn't permit such a thing to happen. Well, that was, if Willow didn't mind going with her. After all, the older girl could have agreed to go with someone else already and Melly, being Melly, didn't want to get in between.

Or did she?

"Hi!," She greeted back merrily, not bothering to add any more words for a couple of seconds, half waiting for Willow to be the one to come up with the idea that had been Melina's. She wasn't able to wait more than five or six seconds though, for she was soon leaning closer to her friend, a conspiratory look on her face. "Tell me, Willow, would you mind doing this trip with me?," She asked in an extremely serious face, her tone not much louder than a whisper.

Felixir 04-08-2009 09:06 PM

"You're welcome," Jake quipped, looking down below the counter at all the money they had so far. Oh it was soooooo much... He wished he had this amount... oh the house he could buy... And the broomsticks... for Quidditch... and speaking of the sport-

Letting a momentary frown flit across his face, Jake tilted his head as he looked at the Ravenclaw he remembered from quidditch and the like. "Sorry..." he smiled benignly. "We're under orders to exchange only the one hundred galleons... I could do that for you, if you'd like?" he asked sweetly, mentally saying Whether you like it or NOT if you wanna do well in these finals.

"Of course," mused Willow to Melina. Really, she had no idea how she was going to manage to to get through this all, so having a partner sounded like a pretty good idea to her. "Just wait for me, okay?" And so she turned to look at the boy. "Sure thing." Wasn't that the Hufflepuff seeker? He looked smaller for some reason. Huh. "One hundred galleons, I guess. . . "

And so she waited again. Really, though, if Willow thought about it, being in this exchange center was much more safe than being thrown into the Muggle world. Perhaps the boy would take his time doing whatever it was that he had to do.

Jake was taking charge man! every time Tobi looked up, there the kid was, helping someone else. Oh well, at least things were getting done. Tobi was never much with numbers. he counted slowly and got distracted quickly. Shiny objects could be a problem hence why currency was probably not the best - oh look at the shiny Galleon!!!!

Willow could look more at ease with the project. "Don't worry about it 'Crusher" he said, waving his hand as if it could clear her anxiety away. "If you can nearly kill me on the pitch, you can handle this no problem."

"Sure thing," Jake nodded, scraping in one hundred of the galleons on the counter and carefully pushing the rest back towards the girl. Reaching under the counter for the readymade bundle of american currency, Jake twisted his sun visor round again. "Here you go," he said, standing up on tiptoes to reach over the counter and hand the money to the Ravenclaw. "You can count it's all there if you want... five hundred american dollars... Use it well, and good luck," Jake gave a last smile and waited for her to take it so he could get off his tiptoes.

Mental note: Make sure Clifford Carden pays for that ridiculous 'Bone Crusher' name. Hmph.

"That's because I know my way around bludgers and beater bats." A little sigh came out from her slightly parted lips. "Muggle money, their clothing and their money. . . Not so much. Thanks, though." She shook her head, and turned to the little Hufflepuff boy - which instantly had her wondering whether he was some kind of math genius; surely normal eleven year old kids didn't really know to count properly, yes?

Did they? Willow couldn't remember if she could count when she was eleven.

Grabbing the remaining galleons and pocketing them, the girl waited for the boy to provide her the little papers with funny smell that Muggles called money. Taking the dollars, the girl quickly put them safely inside her messenger bag. "Why would I count them, little one? You are a Hufflepuff and Hufflepuffs are the ones supposed to be fair and all that." All that because she couldn't remember what else they were supposed to be. "I trust you." Now, had the Hufflepuff boy being a girl, the story would have been completely different; Hufflepuff girls were absolutely insane, in Willow's opinion. And not only that, but they were all jealous of her, too. Or so she thought anyway, because all the Hufflepuff girls Willow had came across with had ended up disliking her.

And she had no idea why. Riiiight.

"Well, I'd better go now." Sighing once again, she looked at the two boys behind the counter. "Good bye, Tobi. And you, too, er, Hufflepuff seeker whose name I don't know." Shrugging, the girl curled one of her hands around Melina's arms gently, "Let's go, Melly." And with that, she left the place dragging Melina with her.

Shrugging Jake had to stop himself as he watched the girl. She was acting all weird. Unable to help himself, Jake mumbled the characteristics of a true Hufflepuff under his breath, "Just, Loyal, Patient, True, Unafraid of toil... to name but a few..."

Frowning a little as the girl left, Jake leaned on the desk and sulked. "My name is Jake..." he murmured for nobody's benefit other than his own bruised ego's. "I'm not just a pretty face Quidditch position..."

People these days... HMPH!

Tobi laughed at Jake's obvious annoyance. "Don't worry about it,dude," he said, clapping him on the shoulder, "I don't think I existed at all for Willow until I passed out cold sitting next to her in CoMC. I... had some bad shrimp..." apparently bad shrimp is code for a phobia of Magical Creatures these days.

"She just does see people unless they're flying on a broom. Oh, I also made her really mad during the Quidditch final. I got to a bludger before she did. That doesn't usually happen. And you're a great Seeker, you should be proud." Tobi grinned at the kid. He'd have hated to have faced Upstead in a few years. Good thing he was graduating this term.

Nodding, Jake attempted to mentally shrug off his slight annoyance. They had a job to do, right? And he ought to know that not everybody knew who he was.

Ought to...

"Yeah, I guess she wouldn't," he mumbled, nodding and straightening up. He didn't want to add that she was probably one of those crazy quidditch obsessed lunatics, but you never knew who was one... And it would kind of be a Pot, meet kettle moment. "Ha, thanks though," he smiled up at Tobi. "You're a great player too, good flyer..." he nodded, trying to keep himself from correcting Tobi. If I was so great, we'd have wonnnnnn... But there's always next year. Blahhhh...

Looking up, Jake noticed a first year had entered, which was one of the years he was attending to, or so they had agreed. Stepping over, Jake immediately counted out one hundred galleons and pushed the other half back across the counter. "We're only supposed to exchange one hundred..." he explained. "Rules and all that jazz..."

He reached down and grabbed the bundle of american money before handing it over to the girl. "Five hundred... Use it well... good luck... all that mumbo jumbo..."

Storing the wizarding currency in a safe place, Jake stretched out his arms. He was beginning to get bored, and soon enough everyone would have moved on from the first stage. Maybe he should have brought something with him to keep his attention.

Tobi smiled at the 5th year. "Sorry Abby, we can only exchange 100 Galleons, it'll get you 500 US dollars," he explained. "Do you want to do that now?"

Lockhartian 04-09-2009 06:10 AM

Aha! Now, she wasn't truly feeling like traveling, unless it meant visiting Romania, and she wasn't doing so. She wasn't feeling like exchanging the galleons either...because...because...you could buy 1 Silver Arrow and 1 Firebolt with those!

As much as she liked Prof. Dumont, she had to say that he was crazy for doing that, giving each 100 galleons, when so much could be bought with it! Kaika knew for fact that Miranda would love to get a new broom, and here she was practically wasting galleons just because of a final exam.

Well, at least it should be fun, right?

If not, she'll make her way towards fun in the end.

"Umm, hello..." she said, her head looking down at her bag of galleons...if she was not mistaken those 100 galleons equal $500, "...Hi! I will need, I think, $500...or well, these 100 galleons changed into US dollars, which I think is the same, right?" she asked, tilting her head to one side.
