Moving Staircase

The easiest way to get from one floor to the next is to take the staircase. But, you' better watch out! It moves :shifty:

Ahh, these blasted stairs! Trey thought to himself. He hadn't gotten the hang of them his first year here, and now after being away for so long it appeared they were besting him again. He looked up to his destination as his staircase took him away from it. Ugh, where is anyone when you need help? He took a different staircase, hoping for the best.

Whitney had been walking up the stairs when they started moving on her. 'Not again.' When she looked up she saw someone else on the stairs who seemed to be struggling just as much as she was. "Don't you just hate this?" Never would she get used to it. Moving staircases just wasn't normal,even for Hogwarts. Now all she wanted was to get off.

John Noticed a girl having trouble with the moving staircase He offered her a Hand ...

Trey looked down when he heard someone ask about hating the stairs. "This is the absolute worst," he yelled back to her from his stairway a little further up from hers. "You making any progress?" He asked, hoping maybe, she knew the trick.

Suddenly Whitney saw a hand appear in front of her. She looked to see who it belonged to see and saw a boy there. Gratefully she took his hand and steadied herself on the stairs. "Thank you." she said blushing a bit. How sad was it that she couldn't even walk up a few moving stairs? "Still haven't gotten used to it."
Whitney smiled a bit. Apparently he didn't know how to beat the stairs either. "Not without someone else's help!" she yelled back. This was horrible,she was probably the loudest person in the school right now. Yelling a bit softer but still loud enough for him to hear she said, "Just stay still and let it take you,that normally works." Just as she said it her staircase stopped moving but she didn't know where it stopped.

Trey jumped off his current set of stairs on a landing platform to that specific floor before jumping on a different set making it's way down. If anything he'd get back down to where Whitney was and at least he'd be lost with someone. No fun being lost by yourself. "Ok I'm working my way back down to you. Maybe we can figure this out," he yelled back down to her as his staircase came to halt.

She gaped at this boy while he jumped down from his staircase to hers. 'He's crazy!' Whitney didn't know what to do. What if something happened to him? It'd be her fault. "What if you fall?!?!" 'Oh my God,oh my God,oh my God!' "Stop!" she yelled hoping he'd listen to her and not get hurt.

Karma walked into the section of the moving staircases on her way getting to her own common room. She always hated this part, seeing as how often she ended up on the wrong one and it always took her to a new place of the school.

She looked above and saw two students already getting lost. And one, jumping? WHAT. Panic!

She considered yelling, but he was too far up to hear her. That, or she'd scare him, and he might fall. And that, would for sure, be worse.

Trying to decide on what staircase to use, the one she was standing on started to move. She wasn't prepared, and the books she was holding fell onto the steps around her. Oh great. Another year like this.

Whitney jumped when she heard books falling from a staircase under her. She looked over the rail and saw a girl standing there on a moving staircase just as she and that boy were. 'Oh dear.' Now three students were stuck on staircases. "Are you okay?" she yelled, trying not to make so much noise,to the girl.

Karma looked up at the girl above her that was yelling. Oh lord. As if that wasn't embarassing enough, a younger girl had seen her do it. She looked so small - but then again she was many feet above her as well.

"Yeah, I think I'll be fine," she said before gathering her books up. "Thanks for checking on me though. Where are you headed?"

And, a Slytherin at that. She was right when she was talking to Copernicus - not all Slytherins are what they seem.

Sam only proved her wrong though.

It was obvious that this girl was older then her,just now how much older. 'It must not be that sad if I can't get the staircases,since she can't either.' Whitney thought to herself feeling a little better about the situation. Except for that boy jumping the staircases. She glanced back up at him,then back at the older girl. "Erm,I was heading to the Library but...." Looking around her,she realized that she had no idea where she was anymore. "I'm a bit lost now." Never once had she actually gotten lost,and now that she did it was on staircases. "And you?" she asked the girl,realizing it was a Ravenclaw.

"Ahh. Heading for my common room," she said, as the staircase stopped and she ran up to the platform. "I've got a ways to go now."

Now she was stuck too. That platform had no staircases currently, and the door next to it, she didn't need. The next one swung into place, and she was on the staircase below the other girl. This one was going up a floor to where Karma needed to go.

"Here. Take that platform you're about to go on. And then the next staircase going down should be the one you need. I've memorized them at times now."

Whitney simply watched as the girl moved around the staircases. She definitely knew what she was doing. Then she was talking to her. Telling her where to go. "Erm...okay...?" She moved onto the platform and down the other staircase. It seemed about right. "Thank you! You're a life saver" Why couldn't a school of witchcraft and wizardry have stable staircases? 'Cause it'd make life boring'

*Crash* "Ugh," Trey moaned as he pulled himself up off the ground next to Whitney, "made it!" He dusted himself off slightly and stretched out his arms and legs. Nope nothing broken, he thought to himself. "Well where we headed? Because I'm taking this train out of here!" He said to her with a laugh. He then yelled down to the Ravenclaw girl, "Hey, I'm Trey, thanks for the help!"

John Nodded and added a smile ... " you ok gal?"

The stairs moved themselves from the right side of floor 3 to the north side of floor 6.

Barry huried out of the room of the mirror hoping to find what he was looking for he cast on himself a sheild charm and then looked over to the stairs and shouted at the top of his voice "PEEVES! Come quickly I have something for you and I`ll help you get myrtle!" Well myrtle maybe not, but he did have something for Peeves.

"If you want myrtle come to the dragon!" called Barry and he walked back to the dragon painting.

Please be moving. Please be moving! Aggie mentally screamed at the staircase as she rounded another corner, zigged, then zagged her way around a few canoodling Hufflepuff and then bolted with one last ounce of energy towards the staircase.

But it wasn’t moving. No no no! He’s going to catch me. “Common,” she huffed out. “Move!”

As if on command, the staircase groaned, shifted then started moving.

The only problem was, Aggie wasn’t there yet. “No wait – for – me!” she huffed loudly. “Arrrggg!”

And with a final oomph she launched herself at the staircase, catching it just as it shifted two feet away from the hallway.

“Ha!Ha!” she exclaimed landing on the top step. Then she stumbled awkwardly and had to cling to the railing as her purple shod feet slipped out from under her. She landed a couple of stairs further down on her bum. “Ouch….”

Tobi had seen the stairs start their shift from way behind Aggie so he had had to double back in he wanted to catch up to her before next Thursday. Ruddy staircases. Luckily, several years of exploring the castle with Evelyn had gotten him rather familiar with various secret passages.

The downside was that he had to go back and tap the suit of armour he had just offended on the head with his wand.

That went over well... yeah, not so much. It had taken several extra, rather sharp, taps to get the angry suit of armour to step aside (it took a swing at him when it did, narrowly missing a good heavy blow to his jaw) at which point Tobi had to all but fly down the narrow stone staircase, jumping a trick step, and burst through a tapestry right next to the Prefects bathroom which was not far from the moving staircase, he bolted down the hall to meet it when it came to a stop bearing Aggie.

Amanda decided to explore the moving staircases, in the 2 terms that she had actually been at Hogwarts, never had this idea crossed her mind before. She was going to see where different staircases took her, just for fun obviously. She walked onto one staircase and held on while it moved to another floor completely, she headed up and took the set of stairs to the left of her.

Jack was exploring Hogwarts, he had to, he saw a girl "Excuse me" he called after her with his wand at the ready.

Amanda heard a voice and drew her wand from her robes, she was ready for whoever was willing to try to hex her. She turned around to notice a Hufflepuff boy calling after her, when he was close enough, she noticed that he had a badge on. She decided to have a little fun and cast the stinging hex on the boy, her hex firing perfectly from her wand.

Jack sniggered as he moved out of the way "Nice try, I'm Jack by the way" he called over to her before casting the bedazzling hex at her

Amanda rolled her eyes and laughed slightly. "Nice to meet you Jack, I'm Amanda." She said introducing herself while getting ready to save herself. This was going to be fun, she wasn't going to let a little Hufflepuff beat her, maybe Kayla however, that was only if she could find her first. "Protego" She said clearly and moved her wand, a strong shield cast in front of her to deflect the oncoming hex.
