We all know that you're in love and that you just simply can't keep your hands to yourself... Well, this is the place to learn to! If you find yourself in this dungeon it means you've disgusted someone enough with your public display of affection that they actually threw you in detention. Hogwarts is for filling your head with magic and knowledge, not for making sure you learn the art of kissing. Prepare to be punished. |

Still in a state of shock, Anna headed into Lover's Lair, her heart pounding and her hands beginning to shake. She stared straight ahead, not being able to glance around just yet. She wondered if Cale had been assigned to come to Lover's Lair, as well; and he had, would they be together at all during this awful experience? Anna certainly hoped so. Cale made her feel safe...like nothing and no one in this entire world could hurt her. Anna tightened her fists around her book bag and held it close to her. There was homework to do...classes to attend!
Clutching her bag even tighter, Anna fixed her eyes on the back wall and waited to hear someone...anyone's voice. She was ready to get started so she could run far away from the dungeons and live happily ever after with homework and Cale.

Ethan nodded at Anna and looked around the dungeon. He liked it down here, it felt like home, even with the traumatic memories of detentions with Kazimeriz were attempting to bubble to the surface.
"Those walls are a little... greasy aren't they?" He looked up at a crack in the roof, "You would think that the house elves would just vanish all the cooking fat from the kitchens, but it appears that a majority of it somehow manages to coat this very wall."

Lover's Lair. Just the name made him feel like he had been caught snogging in the hallway rather than just arguing with a professor. The name was so...scandalous, he could hardly imagine what the rest of the school would think when they heard about where they had been held. EEEEEK!
Cale saw Anna a few feet away, clutching her bookbag like her life depended on it, but he only gave her a sheepish smile and a wave for greeting. They were in DETENTION and he wanted to cut out any opportunity for Truebridge to dock even more points from them.
"Erm, greasy?" he asked in confusion, looking up at the walls that Truebridge was referring to. He really hadn't noticed, and it wasn't like he cared anyways. "Oh, I suppose," he muttered. He was too frightened right now to say anything else to him. EEEEEK! He just wanted to get this over with.

"Those walls are a little... greasy aren't they?" He looked up at a crack in the roof, "You would think that the house elves would just vanish all the cooking fat from the kitchens, but it appears that a majority of it somehow manages to coat this very wall." Out of the corned of her eye, Anna noticed a slight movement, and she turned to see Professor Truebridge standing nearby. For a moment, she just stared at him, the look on her face similar to the one she'd had when checking in moments ago. The more she looked at the professor, though, the more her face semi-softened. He looked pleasant, not angry the way he should be.
Anna glanced up at the walls, her face wrinkling when she saw the grease the professor had pointed out. Ugh. She was going to be sick! Grease...and lot's of it at that! Anna turned her head from the grease, unable to look at it any longer. "I suppose not," she said, replying to his comment about the elves. "Seems they prefer the dungeons." The more she talked, the better she began to feel. Anna released the death grip on her book bag, but held it close for moral support, nonetheless.
At least Cale was here... Anna smiled at him in return and then turned back to Truebridge, awaiting the next set of instructions.

Ethan nodded and walked over to the wall, extending one finger to touch the grease. "Hmm. Feels... chickeny. Come and stand here. Facing the wall. As close as you can get."

Cale blinked. Stand close to the greasey chicken fat wall? Ewwwwwwwwwww GROSSSSSSSSSS! What did this have to do with talking back to Truebridge? Pssh, absolutely nothing.
Frowning, he stared at the wall hesitantly before stepping forward towards the wall, getting as close as humanly possible without actually touching the nastiness that coated the wall. He stopped once his nose was practically centimeters away and glanced at Anna, wondering what they had gotten themselves into. He waited for Truebridge to continue--hopefully his next instructions would involve moving AWAY from this germ pool.

Anna wrinkled her face in disgust and watched as the professor ran his finger along the grease. He was probably used to touching such filfth, Anna wasn't. Professor Truebridge had been out and about in the realworld, dealing with dragons and Merlin knew what else. A bit of grease wouldn't hurt him one bit. Well, to be honest, it wouldn't hurt Anna either, but it was just the fact that the grease looked so...sooo...soooo disgusting! "Chi---chickeny?" Anna questioned, edging away from the grease a bit. She was going to puke...
When the professor urged her to come closer, Anna widened her eyes and looked at him with a shocked, "are-you-freaking-serious" look on her face. Anna stepped forward, stopping about two feet from the wall. Well, the professor did say "as close as you can get," and this was definitely as close as Anna felt she could get without puking.

Ethan nodded to himself and quite suddenly tapped Cale's chin with his wand and gave him a tiny little push so that Cale's newly charmed lips stuck fast to the greasy wall. Taking a few steps, he tapped Anna on the chin too and pointed at the wall, clearly expecting her to place her lips there.

...and ew.
Anna sucked in a deep breath and looked at Cale with the most horrified look she could muster. Was he... kissing chicken grease? Ugh. That put an entirely new perspective on his lips. Anna stared at Cale until she felt a sharp tap on her chin. Blinking, Anna turned to look at Professor Truebridge. What did he do that f---"Oh, no. Noooo, thank you, sir," Anna pleaded. "I'm allergic! I'll get hives! I'll... turn into a chicken!" Anna stopped mumbling and closed her eyes, horrified by the realization that she was now expected to kiss chicken grease, as well. "Sir, I'll puke!" she said, hoping that last plea was convincing enough.
She was just wasting time, though. She didn't figure this detention was up for negotiation. She may as well just kiss the freaking chicken grease and get it over with. Anna glanced over at Professor Truebride's wand, wondering if he was still on the top of his game when it came to cleaning spells. They'd sure come in handy once she puked all over the floor. Unless he made her clean it up the good old-fashioned muggle way. Ugh. That thought in mind, Anna took a deep breath, figuring if she held it in and didn't release it for a while, she wouldn't really smell the nasty grease. Narrowing her eyes, Anna looked over at Professor Truebridge as she reluctantly walked forward. She continued to look at him until she was as close to the wall as Cale was. Finally, with a degree of courage only a Gryffindor could have, Anna closed her mouth in on the wall. Stupid History of Magic professor.

"Alright." Ethan pulled a few supplies out of his bag, sheets of parchment and quills. "You have a half an hour each to write down why it is important to show respect to your professors, even if you are supposedly grown up enough to do more than 'hold hands'."
Ethan placed a sheet of parchment and a quill in each of their hands and stepped back, head tilted to one side as he contemplated the fact that two of the brightest students, the Gryffindor Prefects no less, were currently kissing a chicken grease coated wall and stuck there until they finished their task.

She was ready and willing to do whatever it took to get herself away from this grease and back to the cleanliness of the Common Room. Half an hour, though? She'd have thrown up her entire stomach and half her lungs by that point.
Feeling a piece of parchment and quill reach her hands, Anna tightened her fists around both of them and got herself into a position to write. It wasn't easy, mind you. Number one, she couldn't see her parchment. Number two , she couldn't see her quill, and number three...well, erm, Anna was sure there was a number three...and possibly a four and five, but she wasn't in any mood to figure out what they may be at the moment. Finally, with her parchment held right above her head so she could simply glance up and see part of it, Anna began to write. Quote: Why it is Important to Show Respect to

1. When I decided to kiss Cale Newell repeatedly and then back talk Professor Truebridge, I ended up losing ten points. TEN POINTS!!! That's seriously one entire homework assignment, not counting any bonus parts, of course. Well, but...you know...I always do the bonus parts, so I guess in my case, this would be considered half of a homework assignment. Or, well, maybe these ten points could be the actual bonus. Yeah, okay...we'll go with that. I lost my bonus points. BOO. I worked hard for those, too.
Anna figured she should at least talk about the actual professor at some point, too, though. Number one was a good answer, and it was true, she had lost some hard earned bonus points, but she didn't figure talking about her own hardships would get her out of detention. Quote:

Ethan nudged the dropped quill towards her with his foot and spoke out loud in a thoughtful voice, "You know, you might have to take your shoes and socks off to get a good grip on that quill with your toes and pass it up to your hands."
He summoned two chairs, sitting on one and crossing his feet on the other, watching with a mixture of boredom and interest.

He was going to make her pick up the dropped quill with her bare feet? The nerve of that...that...that... man! Merlin only knew what sort of filth dwelled on the floors of these dungeons, and Anna was not going to place her clean, bare feet on any part of them. Professor Truebridge could either pick up the quill for her, or he could suffer through not getting his stupid little list. Anna had far more important things to do anyway---like homework, for example. She was suddenly aware of heavy bag hanging from her shoulders, weighed down from the thirteen textbooks she'd brought along. Sighing, Anna dropped her left arm and let her bag fall to the floor. She felt sort of lost without her schoolwork, but perhaps feeling her foot right next to her bag would make up for the loss. Anna slid her foot over half an inch and kept it close to her schoolwork, similar to the way a child would clutch a teddy bear in their times of need.
Anna wanted out of this dark, dreary place, but she just refused to get barefooted in here. To prove her point, Anna dropped her hands and her parchment to her side and simply stood in place. There. That should show him. A few seconds later, Anna heard the sound of chairs scratching across the floor, and she knew getting the professor to hand her that quill would be a lost cause. Gritting her teeth, Anna kicked off her right shoe and sock and slid her foot across the floor until it met the quill. With a certain degree of difficulty, Anna more or less fought with the quill until she felt it wedged between her toes. Lifting her foot, Anna grabbed the quill and got herself back into a position to write.
Sighing, she scratched out what she had on number two and started over once again. Quote: Why it is Important to Show Respect to

2. The professors are more or less our parents away from home. They deserve the same amount of respect we give to our mothers and fathers. They're older and wiser than we are, and we can learn a great deal from them if we'll just learn to listen to them and do as they tell us to do. This means no kissing your significant other in the corridors, for one. It also means that when the professors tell us to do something, we should do it without any questions or comments.
3. It's also important to show respect to the professors, because they will always lead us in the direction that's best for us. They are wise, as I stated earlier, and they've experienced more of life than we have. Speaking of leading in directions, Cale and I are both prefects, and we should respect the professors as an example to our housemates and fellow students. Right now, we're both not being very good examples. There's no telling what our housemates...what the entire school...thinks of us!
Anna paused, wondering if a half hour had passed yet...

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
Cale could feel his gag reflex taking effect as his lips were fastened to the nasty, chickeny wall, and the smell of the grease floating up into his nose (which was nearly touching the wall as well) was just making the whole situation worse.
Let it state, for the record, that Cale would never ever ever EVER talk back to a professor again. NEVERRRR!
He too held up a thumbs up like Anna had done to indicate that he understood the professor's request. He blindly reached for the quill and parchment, trying not to move since that just made his lips slide all over the nastiness--BLECHHHH he was gonna vomittttt. 1. Prefects need to be good role models, and by speaking back to professors, it makes it seem like other students can get away with that too, when in reality it would be just plain rude and stupid to speak back to an authority figure...as I have now learned
2. It doesn't matter if you're grown up or not, you're essentially staying in THEIR castle so you should follow THEIR rules
3. Professors are wiser and have been through more than students have. Even though we're legal now we're still stuck in the teenage mindset, thinking that we know everything and adults just don't understand us. In reality, that isn't true--they're older and have experienced more. Plain and simple.
Cale stopped and tried to figure out what else to write. A half an hour seemed like such a long timeeeeeee...and he only had three reasons. Bleh. He'd have to think of at least one more, he just HAD to.

Anna shook her head---or, as much of it as she could, indicating to the professor that she didn't want to step within a hundred feet of friend chicken at the moment. Or actually, now that she thought about it, Anna didn't think she'd ever want to eat fried chicken again. However, she could use a nice drink at the moment. She really didn't care what it was, as long as it didn't contain the words "chicken" and "grease" in it. Anna nodded her head, hoping that when---and if---drinks arrived, she could remove her lips for this disgusting mess.

Gag. Gag. Mega gag. Cale nodded slightly, trying not to move and spread the chicken grease all over his lips. "Surethanksprofessor," he muttered, his words going straight into the wall as he spoke. He looked back down at his list and added another reason that popped into his head. Surely thirty minutes had to have gone by already, right? Quote:
4. Professors have feelings, and no one likes to be talked back to. People feel bad when others talk back to them and don't give them respect, and the same goes for Professors. It doesn't matter who they are--everyone deserves to be treated with politeness.

"Oh well, I'll be right back." It wasn't like it was far. Ethan decided a little walk would do him good. He stood up and headed to the door, looking back over his shoulder as he did so. "I expect you to be finished by the time I get back." Without waiting for a reply he headed up to the kitchens.

Cale watched as Truebridge left them and let out a sigh. He wanted to get as many reasons down as possible--maybe then he could get out early! YAY!
Alive with this new hope, he scribbled down a few more ideas that popped into his head. Quote:
5. You should respect professors because they have the ultimate say in whether or not you actually graduate.
6. Despite how unfair they may seem, they really have your best interests at heart and don't want to see you fail. They want you to succeed and by talking back to them, you're not showing the proper respect for them or the service they're providing you.

This horrible, rude, disrespectful, mean, hateful...gorgeous, good-looking, interesting, intelligent man. This was inhumane! At least he was going to get them something to drink, though! He had to be given some credit for that one, right? Right! Figuring she may as well get this over with ( so she could have something to drink), Anna tapped her quill once against her parchment and then set to work. Quote: Why it is Important to Show Respect to
Professors, Even if You Are Supposedly Grown
Up Enough to Do More Than Hold Hands
2. We should respect the professors, because they are older than us, and they're probably going to die sooner than we are. We want to make sure that we m
4. Professor are far more experienced in charms, hexes, jinxes, and curses than we are. They can---and will---use any and all of the above if that's what the situation calls for. Well, to be honest, the professors wouldn't curse us (or would they?), but I bet they'd send a nice hex our way if given the opportunity to. For this reason, we should always obey them and try to stay on their good side.
5. Professors Shackleton and Kazimeriz know both my mother and father. Not only that, most, if not all, of the faculty has bought ice cream from my mother a time or two. If I continued being disrespectful to my professors, my mother and father would definitely find out sooner or later. Do you KNOW what Alexander Greingoth would do to me if a professor ever owled home to let him know his one and only child was failing to act accordingly in an institution of education? Well, to be honest, I don't know what he'd do, and I really, really don't desire to find out.
6. As older students, we should remain respectful to the professors so that the younger students---the future of Hogwarts---will receive a good example. When the younger students see the older students misbehave, they believe they can do so, as well. I guess, in a way, this goes for the older students, as well. I suppose they can be influenced from our behavior, as well. We need to be a good example, especially since we're in a leadership position. In being disrespectful to Professor Truebridge, we not only let down Gryffindor house, but we let down our schoolmates and professors, as well.

Ethan returned with a tray. A pitcher of orange juice in the center with three glasses.... and a plate of fried chicken. He placed it on the table, dragged the chair he'd been using before over and sat down in it. He flicked his wand at the two prefects, releasing them from the greasy wall.
He poured himself a drink and picked up a piece of chicken, biting into it and making a small noise of enjoyment. "Sit down, sit down."

The second Cale's lips were released from the wall, he started wiping his mouth frantically to get rid of the greasy chicken fat. Any longer and he would have been sick for realllll.
He hurried over to Truebridge and sat down. Now that he was free from the wall, he realized how thirsty he was. "Erm, here's my list, professor," he said, holding out the parchment for Truebridge to read.

He poured himself a drink and picked up a piece of chicken, biting into it and making a small noise of enjoyment. "Sit down, sit down." As soon as she'd jotted down the last word to the sixth reason on her list, Anna heard the sound of Professor Truebridge entering the dungeon once again. Behind her, Anna heard he clinking and clacking of whatever it was the professor was moving about. Suddenly, as if all gravity had been removed from the little room at once, Anna felt herself jerk away from the wall. Completely in shock, Anna moved her lips around and around for a moment before turning around...
...to see chicken.
Anna closed her eyes, revolted at the very sight. Before she could even realize what was happening, Anna heard the sound of puke---her own--- splashing all over the floors of the dungeons. Anna coughed a few times and then opened her eyes as big as quaffles. "Ewwww," she said, swallowing a few times to keep from puking again. "I---I'm sorry..."

He gestured at the orange juice, indicating that Cale should pour one for himself. Quote:
