| | Library Bookshelves
Tall bookshelves are scattered throughout the library, the smooth wood gleaming brightly in the sun that shines in through the stained glass windows. Tens of thousands of books rest upon the shelves, all waiting to be explored by eager minds. They stretch along the walls, filling each shelf and dark corner. A catalogue system has been put in place to ensure that finding and retrieving a book becomes a simple task, for the sheer amount of books can be overwhelming, particularly to the youngest of students.
At the end of the first few bookshelves in the front of the library sits a pedestal. An open book with a soft golden light emitting from it, has been placed upon the pedestal. As you approach the book, you hear a rustling and then a gentle pop. “Come closer, come closer. Don’t be afraid.” A jolly voice speaks.
When you finally do peek into the pages of a book, an elderly gentleman peers out at you, one hand rising to adjust his spectacles. “Now. What book is it that you seek? I can give you a general location or a more specific one if you know the exact title of the book.”
Once you speak your request, the man ponders for a few moments before scribbling on a piece of parchment. Squinting at what he has written, he looks back up and smiles, before speaking the location of the book. “Happy reading!” He exclaims before settling back down into a still flat image. OOC: Please note that the jolly man is for entertainment purposes only. I will not be RPing him each time a student approaches asking for a book. |

Was this about the wacky teachers? He was puzzled and whispered, "Why do we need to talk to the Grey Lady?" He rubbed at his left shoulder a bit. Dragging him the way she did, flared up his old injury from that duel with Nico. For a chick, she was strong!

Anna, Maddox, Kayla... The Ravenclaw Ghost, and while Tobi would usually be glad to talk to any of them, Aggie had just left the 7th floor in a snit.
"Hi Lady Ravenclaw, Anna, Mads, Kayla," he muttered absently as he passed, they could be plotting to burn the school to ashes for all he cared, he walked right on by after a giving them the politest greeting he could muster, which probably wasn't very polite.
He'd feel bad about it later. At the moment he was busy wading through stacks of books trying to get to the other end of the shelves where Aggie was nose deep in some French sounding book. Avoiding me. Great. Just great....
He cleared his throat loudly. It seemed safer than asking her just what the hell her problem was.

"Is there a problem that I don't know about?" he asked calmly, "Or are you now in the habit of storming off before I can get a word in, for no apparent reason?"
Honestly, dating Aggie was harder than almost not quite sorta maybe I dunno kinda dating her. Now she seemed to feel JUSTIFIED in her snits. Girls were so weird! Now even Aggie who had always been the least weird of any girl he'd ever known.

You were busy dying your hair that ridiculous color and I needed to find a man with a dog,” she explained as if it was the most natural thing in the world for her to do. “You were busy, I was busy. I left you to play with your hufflepuff friend. Is there something wrong with that?” She closed the book and let it fall next to her hip as she tilted her head to look up at him. “Because if there is, next time, I can just sit there and badger you until you or one of your friends actually do says something to me.”

I'm not going to strangle my girlfriend, I'm not going to strangle my girlfriend. I would miss her eventually. I'm not able to foresee such a time RIGHT now, but I would miss her EVENTUALLY.
Tobi took a deep breath, composed himself. And said something that wasn't perhaps the brightest of all things he could have said, "Aggie, you have got to stop freaking out every time I'm seen in the company of other girls. Do you know how many girls go to to this school? They're EVERYWHERE. I'm literally surrounded by girls during Quidditch practice, it's just how it worked out. And Lyra is just one girl that I happen to know, happen to hang around with. She died my hair for flying homework. It's not that nefarious. "
Lyra, Anna, Kayla, Hannah, they were all friendships of his that Aggie had reacted badly to. She'd even been initially cold to Valentine. Aggie had never got on very well with other girls, but not wanting him to be friends with any is a bit excessive, isn't it?

While Tobi was secretly promising not to strangle Aggie, Aggie was making no promises of her own. In fact –
Smack!
The book came up and popped him in the chest. “Tobi Avalon,” she growled as she whispered. “If you think I’m jealous of all your girly friends…you are gravely mistaken.” It was true. Aggie wasn’t jealous of all of them, just a few. The few that seemed to get more time with him the she did and it was the time, more then the girls that increased the invidiousness of her situation.
“And I may be slow, but I am not stupid. I know how many girls go here.” She glared at him as she reached up on her tiptoes, attempting to get somewhere near as tall as him. It was a loosing battle on her part that probably made her look ridiculous. “And when you spend 80% of your day with them, 20% of which is spent practicing on a team compiled of nothing but but girls!” she poked him in the chest with her finger. “You cannot blame me for being a bit!” She held her hand up pinching her fingers together to emphasize the word “bit”. “Worried or upset about it.” Because somewhere, deep in the back of her mind (in a moment of actually girliness) Aggie sometimes wondered if Tobi was dating her to keep someone else at bay.

Oh OWW! OOOOW! For the love of- HEY THAT HURT!
"Will you STOP THAT? - And no poking either!" Tobi cried.
When she did cease and desist her abuse he continued, "And while I'm asking you to stop things, would you stop referring to half of my friends as girly friends? They are not girly friends. They are friends. The fact that they are also girls has something to do with biology, and I never really understood it. You're the one who is always going on about how another word for 'women' is 'people.' Maybe you should start seeing my friends that way too."
Tobi wasn't listening much to her feelings at that point, he felt extremely indignant and frustrated himself and that seemed to be louder than any sensitivity he had for Aggie's feelings.
But eventually Tobi being Tobi, the sensitivity would fight its way back to the surface.
"Waaaaaait a minute," he said, putting his hand up in the air and closing his eyes, "you're worried and upset about who and the what now?"
Too bad some basic intellect hadn't come with it.

Too bad some basic intellect hadn't come with it. Once again, Aggie came to her natural conclusion. Tobi was a lost cause. She sighed. “Forget it Tobi,” she flipped her book open and leaned back against the bookshelf behind her. Sometimes, it just wasn’t worth the fight.
“Did you come here for any other reason besides to find out why I ran off in a tiff? Or were you just coming to see how envious I am of the people you spend every evening with flying around on broomsticks?” Because they get to spend more time with you then I do. She looked up at him over the top of her book. Perhaps her attempt at trying to sound reasonable would work. Most likely it wouldn’t.

Before turning back to the ghost before her, if she hadn't been so eager to hear what the Grey Lady had to say she might have noticed that Tobi didn't seem his usual cheerful self. As it was she had other things on her mind right now.

Nobody saw that. Least of all his overly sensitive girlfriend. She says forget it and then BOOM, 5 years from now she's going to come back at me with this...
"You don't like to fly." Tobi reminded her, "Hate it, if I remember correctly. And I'm sorry that practice and classes takes up most of my time, but it's not like I can just drop out. Well I could but you'd still never see me because I'd have to go into hiding or let Alexis kill me."
Tobi heaved a huge sigh. "Look, the 'ship is this weekend. Then there are no more games, no more practices, and you have me pretty much to yourself again." Assuming you still want me around by then.

Lucky for Tobi Aggie hadn’t been watching the closely. “I’m not mad,” she paused, sighed and then closed the book completely. “I’m frustrated ok? You’re never around. I get it. You have responsibilities. It’s just -- frustrating.” The whole hugging and kissing thing was still quite awkward for Aggie. Add to that the fact that Tobi was hardly around to work on this part of their relationship and well…it explained her awkward reach across the isle. She slipped her arms (book still in her left hand) around Tobi’s waist and rested her head on his chest.

Xehanna walked into the library and over to the shelves. she looked and looked and looked until finally she found the book she was looking over. She looked to her right and notcied most of the tables taken. She looked to her left and found nobody. she walked a little ways over and sat down. She began reading the book.

Anna suddenly had the weirdest feeling come over her---like she was being watched. She spun around glanced up and down the aisles, not seeing a single soul outside the ghost floating above her head. Hmm...odd. Helena pursed her lips together in thought. "Well..mostly sadness. A terrible mistake was made and I feel simply horrible about it." She admitted, watching as the Gryffindor tossed a book onto a stool. "Careful. The librarian would not appreciate books being thrown around."

She took a deep breath and looked at Miss Ravenclaw questioningly. "He would like to know how come you are mad at him for dancing with you in front of the Mirror?" There she had said it.

She did not say this aloud, but simply waited expectantly for the answer. Anna frowned when the Grey Lady confirmed that she was indeed sad. Anna'd had that sneaking suspicion, but she'd sort of hoped she would end up being wrong. The Grey Lady seemed so nice, the exact type of person, erm...being?...Anna hated to see in this type mood. As it was, though, the Grey Lady wasn't very happy, and it was Anna's nature to figure out what was going on and try and help. "What was the mistake, and why do you feel horrible?" Anna asked. She couldn't imagine the Grey Lady doing something horrible to someone of something. Maybe someone else made the mistake, though.
Anna glanced down at the book she'd tossed to the stool. "Oh, I, erm...didn't notice," she mumbled. "Sorry about that." Anna picked up her book and then sat down on the stool. "I'm sure you'll find your book soon. Does the book have something to do with this mistake?" Anna glanced over to see Kayla Winters, her friend and fellow prefect. Anna narrowed her eyes when Kayla mentioned what the Far Friar had instructed her to do. Hmm...interesting.

"I'm afraid that I can't say; it was our fault though; and here we thought that we knew the reason for it all. How wrong we were." She whispered.
"Perhaps." She stated simply, lowering herself from her high perch near the top of the bookshelves to be at eye level with the Gryffindor. "There must be a way to reverse it." Quote:

As the Hufflepuff spoke of the Friar's apparent distressing consequences of dancing, Helena's eyes widened in surprise. Had he told? Had he honestly confessed all? She must reach the Spirit Room at once! The ghosts must reconvene!
The young girl's next words, however, caused a change of mind quickly. With a sharp gasp, the Grey Lady spun around and began to flee towards the double doors of the library. "The Mirror! The Mirror!" She wailed as she disappeared through the doors.

She watched as the Grey Lady flew through the doors of the library shrieking about the mirror, Kayla hesitated for a split second before bolting after her and heading for the sixth floor. Totally forgetting about Maddox and Anna who had been standing there as well.

Add to that the fact that Tobi was hardly around to work on this part of their relationship and well…it explained her awkward reach across the isle. She slipped her arms (book still in her left hand) around Tobi’s waist and rested her head on his chest.
Tobi wrapped his arms around his girlfriend awkwardly. They still hadn't worked this part out yet. Hadn't had time to. Okay, maybe he hadn't made the time. What a mess.
"Aggie -" he caught the movement of the Ravenclaw ghost. Quote:

"Perhaps." She stated simply, lowering herself from her high perch near the top of the bookshelves to be at eye level with the Gryffindor. "There must be a way to reverse it."

Lady Helena was the last person, okay sorta person that Tobi expected to have gotten herself into trouble. It was nosy of him, but he wanted to know. He was about to ask when she floated out of sight. Quote:

Well that tears it.
Tobi wiggled out of Aggie's grip. "Um, okay, Aggie, you know how you say we never do anything together?" he asked siezing her by the hand and pulling her bodily from her waist high stack of books, "We're going to go do something now. Your man with a dog thing can wait. Follow that ghost."
As they passed Anna and Maddox he had the distinct feeling he was butting in, but if he was, he'd get told off soon enough. "We're following Kayla. You gonna tell us not to or come too?" he asked.

The young girl's next words, however, caused a change of mind quickly. With a sharp gasp, the Grey Lady spun around and began to flee towards the double doors of the library. "The Mirror! The Mirror!" She wailed as she disappeared through the doors. " Our...as in...you and...?" Anna asked, sure she was referring to all the ghosts, but not wanting to make an assumption. What had they done?!? "Wrong about what?" Anna asked, confusion written all over her face. Clearly sometime terrible had happened, and clearly it had greatly upset the Grey Lady. Anna glanced to the floor and tried to put two and two together, yet never once coming up with what in the world the ghosts could be hinting at.
When the Grey Lady flew eye-level with her, Anna glanced up and looked her in the eyes...or, well, her ghostly-type eyes, that is. "Reverse it? If you'll only tell me what..." Anna's sentence trailed off, though. The next thing Anna knew, the Grey Lady was tearing out the library, yelling something about the mirror. Wait...the mirror? The Mirror of Erised? "Wait!" Anna half-whispered, turning and following the others out the library and to the mirror.

*Gabben walked down the bookshelves not really looking for a book. He was still in a suit and tie, he didn't want to go back to the common room and change. He was glad to be back at Hogwarts even if he was only gone for a day and a half he missed the place. It was better then home at the moment. He picked up a book and leaned on a near by wall.*

Kayla walked through the library shelves, she was supposed to be studying for finals but really she couldn't be quite bothered. This whole term had been quite draining and her holiday mode had started a little early. As she rounded another bookshelf, she spotted Gabben standing in the aisle.
She let out a low wolf whistle and walked up beside him. "Well, well aren't you looking rather dashing. What's the special occasion?"

*Gabben smiled a little at her whistle but didn't look up. The smile slowly faded back to the frown.*
"Funeral, my granmum passed away."

Trust her to put her foot in it. "Oh Gabben, I am so sorry. That was rather tactless of me" she put a hand on his arm. "Are you okay? I mean do you want to talk about it or...whatever?" Kayla gave him a sympathetic smile, it was always hard to know what to say in these circumstances.

*Gabben laughed a little as he put the book back and looked up at her. His left was was a dark purple, a black eye from a fight with his cousin.*
"It's okay, she's been sick for awhile so we knew it was coming. And I'd rather not bore you with my family stories."
*He winked at her with his good eye.*
"But thank you for the compliment. I thought I looked stupid in this."
