Tall bookshelves are scattered throughout the library, the smooth wood gleaming brightly in the sun that shines in through the stained glass windows. Tens of thousands of books rest upon the shelves, all waiting to be explored by eager minds. They stretch along the walls, filling each shelf and dark corner. A catalogue system has been put in place to ensure that finding and retrieving a book becomes a simple task, for the sheer amount of books can be overwhelming, particularly to the youngest of students.
At the end of the first few bookshelves in the front of the library sits a pedestal. An open book with a soft golden light emitting from it, has been placed upon the pedestal. As you approach the book, you hear a rustling and then a gentle pop. “Come closer, come closer. Don’t be afraid.” A jolly voice speaks.
When you finally do peek into the pages of a book, an elderly gentleman peers out at you, one hand rising to adjust his spectacles. “Now. What book is it that you seek? I can give you a general location or a more specific one if you know the exact title of the book.”
Once you speak your request, the man ponders for a few moments before scribbling on a piece of parchment. Squinting at what he has written, he looks back up and smiles, before speaking the location of the book. “Happy reading!” He exclaims before settling back down into a still flat image. OOC: Please note that the jolly man is for entertainment purposes only. I will not be RPing him each time a student approaches asking for a book.  | |

"Yeah, I'm not looking forward to telling a professor I stole school property. Albus Dumbledore left all his personal effects to Hogwarts, so that makes this stone school property. Will you still like me when I lose Hufflepuff a gazillion points or more?" Abby takes volume seven of The Life of Harry Potter. "Wait a second..." Abby puts the book down on a shelf and searches through her book bag. "I thought my mom was crazy when she bought this for me." Abby pulls a slightly furry drawstring bouch with a long cord out of her bag. "My mom found it in an antique store in Diagon Alley. The clerk said you can put anything in it, and no one but the owner can take it out. The stone should be safe in there." | |

"I know. Professor Lupa started singing on the moving staircase." Abby remembers what transpired there. "Professor Kazimeriz was carrying Professor Vindictus somewhere. That's when I told him about the Mirror of Erised. I was sure he'd laugh the whole thing off as a silly story, but He told me to get the Headmaster. Professor Kazimeriz said he was taking Vindictus to the Hospital Wing, but he got all mad when we followed after him. I wouldn't say Kazimeriz is asking like a child, but he was acting strange. He threatened us with something worse than losing house points. Kazimeriz was so mad I wouldn't be surprised if he meant he'd use one of the unforgiveable curses on us." Abby places the stone in the pouch and closes it up. She hands it to Ray. "I think it might be a good idea if you keep this." | |

Ray smiled at the good thinking of Abby and took the pouch and placed it in his pocket. He knew what would happen next but he was keeping it to himself. "So now what?" he asked as he suddenly felt his kitten move in his interior pocket. "Hermy?" Ray asked as he drew the kitten from his pocket and tapped it head with his wand. Ray looked at his kitten for minutes before letting it go.
"Ok so I see you followed my cat on that stair case?" Ray asked.

The library. The one place where Evolette McKenna was sure that she would not be bothered. She was certain that it was common courtesy to leave someone alone when you realized they were perusing books.
That usually required quiet.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone shuffle past, and reached out for a random book, opening it quickly and pretending that she was actually interested in what it said. Yawn. The things you do for peace and quiet. | |

Aggie had given up on looking for the man with a dog and had decided to search the shelves of the library for a book on scrying. Scrying wasn’t one of Aggie’s stronger divinational practices, preferring Sortilege or cleromancy. Toss some sticks into the air and Aggie could tell you what the resulting humble jumble of the twigs meant. Ask her to gaze into a crystal ball and interpret the things viewed within – well, Aggie’d get back to you on that.
“Ah, Mademoiselle Malaise McDarmileanne’s Mystical Modern Meditations with a Crystal.” She plucked the book out of the shelf. It was covered with a bit of dust and her fingers left smudges on the cover. “I think,” she said opening up the cover to look at the table of contents. “This will do the trick.”

Skylar walked into the library....it was the only place lately that she could concentrate on her studies. She walked around looking for an empty table. She couldn't find one so she just sat down at the end of an aisle. She set her book bag to her side and took out the first book she saw. Great, potions. She opened the book to the chapter they were studying and started to read.

Lucy scanned the shelves looking for a book on dragons. She heard a voice. It was coming from the bookshelf to her right. She parted some books slightly and pecked through. A girl, close to sixth year was talking to the Grey Lady. Lucy has always wanted to meet her and the other house ghost. She knew it was wrong to ease drop and snoop but she couldnt help but listen to their converstation.

She eyed the ghost, wondering if she had happy and sad feelings just the same as Anna sometimes did. Anna suddenly had the weirdest feeling come over her---like she was being watched. She spun around glanced up and down the aisles, not seeing a single soul outside the ghost floating above her head. Hmm... odd.

Kayla moved through the library dragging Maddox along with her, she searched through the bookshelves until she finally found Miss Helena. She rushed forward almost knocking Anna over in the process. "Oops sorry Anna, I didn't mean to almost knock you out" she said in a rush and then turned toward the ghost. "Excuse me Miss Ravenclaw but Mr Friar sent me here to ask you a question. I hope you don't mind by obliging me with the answer?"
