Lesson Two: Recap from last lesson/ Determination Entering the Great hall you'll see that the room has been changed to look like the set up from the previous lesson. The tables have yet again been pushed away to the sides, and been replaced by about 30-40 school desks. In the front of the room there is a professor’s desk, a few stacks of mats, hoops and other equipment. On top of the professors desk you'll see some sort of bag but otherwise no other evidence of a professor being present in the room at the moment. (OCC: Feel free to post arriving if you'd like, but note that the actual lesson won’t start until around 4pm GMT + 1 hour on Friday the 6th of March. Keep chatting to a minimum, thanks! :)) |
Angelica Goldbloom entered the great hall before the students started to arrive. Trying out the Professor role was going to be a challenge. Clad in dark red robes the blond haired ministry official took up her place up front. Sitting down on a chair next to her peculiar bag on the desk, she waited for the students to arrive for the second apparition lesson not knowing wheter her boss, Lorraine would attend or not. |
Qaz entered and took a seat in the back. She was one of the first to arrive, so she pulled out one of her textbook and began to study. |
Elizabeth made her way into the second Apparition lesson, not as surprised by the change in the Great Hall's setup as she was for the previous lesson. And glancing up at the front, she saw the other woman from the Ministry who had been at the last lesson sitting there. Smiling at her, since she couldn't quite remember her name to address her, she made her way to a seat. |
Ludo walked tiredly into the Great Hall. He felt as if he'd gotten very little sleep and his throat felt congested. He hoped very much that it wouldn't put him out of participating in the second Apparation class. He spotted Liz and made his way over to her. There was still some time before the lesson started. "Hey." he croaked...it was a bit difficult to speak. |
Lyra walked into the second lesson of the apparitions lesson and took a seat at a desk. She pulled out things to take notes on as she didn't want to be one of the students who allowed part of her body to be left behind. She wanted to do this the right way. |

Handing it over to him, she said, "Here." |
Kayla came running into the great hall at break neck speed, she was late she just knew it. She really hated it when she was late for something, it meant she missed all the important parts of the lesson and this was one lesson she didn't want to miss. As she ran into the hall, her foot slipped on the floor and she could feel herself falling...oh craaaaap! Kayla flung out her hands and felt something soft underneath them which stopped her from falling. She looked up to see Lyra, standing there and she giggled. "Nice catch Lyra, thanks for that." |

He smiled as she handed him a lozenge. "Thanks." he took it and popped it into his mouth, waiting for the instant relief that was supposed to follow, as it usually did in most wizarding medications. When it didn't Ludo asked, "Is this a wizard or muggle lozenge?" |
Quote:
"You're welcome," she said as he thanked her for the lozenge, then laughed softly when he seemed confused by something. "Y'know, I don't really know anymore. It was in my bag, but there's so many things in there, both Muggle and Wizarding, that it could be either one," she said sheepishly. "I'm not even sure how long it had been in there." Then she realized he could take that the wrong way. "But obviously it wasn't bad or anything," she hurriedly tacked on. |
Daphne walked into the Great Hall, nervous for this lesson. She was very apprehensive about apparating, but knew it was something she needed to learn to do. She saw a few students she knew and waved to them. She took a seat and got out a few materials for the lesson. Her eyes wandered around the room, wondering when the instructor would come in. She kept looking at her pink watch, anxious to start. |
The blond ministry official sat next to her desk watching as her student’s one after one entered the great hall. One student seemed and another seemed bustling with energy. Seeing all the students clad in their house robes made Angelica nostalgic. Looking down at her watch she noted that it was high time that she started the lesson. Standing up Angelica walked to stand in front of the desk looking out over the students. After a few moments she cleared her throat and then started speaking "Good afternoon students and welcome to the second apparition lesson!" Angelica let her gaze drift over the student’s faces before continuing "My name is Angelica Goldbloom. I'm one of the division heads for the magical transportation department and I’m here to teach you the wonderful art of apparition along with Ms Brothmeister who held the first lesson." Angelica let the information sink in before she moved on to start the lesson by saying in a soft and melodic tone "Can someone share with the rest of the class what they remember from the first lesson about destination? Also feel free to bring up any questions that you might have about the previous lesson." (OCC: Sorry for not starting the lesson sooner. Have had a hectic few days.) |
Kaika looked up as someone started to speak. Good. The last one was a Department Head, and this woman was a Division Head whose name was...something Gold or Gold something. She blinked her eyes and tilted her head to one side as she listened to the question, and answered it after raising her hand, "Ummm, well, wasn't Destination the place where we're suppose to apparate to? I mean, it is where we're going to apparate to" she turned her question tone into an answer one at the very end. |

He smiled and put a finger to his lips as the Ministry official began. Quote:
The Ministry woman informed them of why she was there and asked for a recap on Destination from the last lesson. He raised his hand, "Ms. Goldbloom? Destination is simply the location the apparating wizard or witch wishes to go to. They've got to have that place be the sole thing they think of." |

Lorraine was quite late for the second lesson. Even though she wasn't teaching it, she still felt guilty about leaving Angelica there with those rotten, spoiled children. Slipping into the oak doors as inconspicuously as possible, the department head had forgotten one thing. Her heels clinked across the hard stone floor, brown hair tied up in a neat French braid to be out of her face. Upon reaching the front of the Hall, she gave a knowing and apologetic smile to Angelica as she slipped into the chair off to the side and watched the lesson carry on. |
Ha. So, not only students arrived late to class or lessons or anything. Interesting sight. Miss Department Head arriving late. But her attention was focused on something else right now, since the Division Head spoke. Yikes! Splinching, yes, she'd heard about that before. Kaika shivered involuntarily, even if they already said that it didn't hurt, "Splinching is when the one that is apparating leaves a part of him behind...right?" she said, adding the last part to make it sound like a question, she could be mistaken anyway. |
Quote:
"What?!" he thought. He looked down at his parchment and took notes for the splinching recap. |
Elizabeth smiled a little as Ludo got embarrassed at Ms. Goldbloom's response to him. But they were still in class, so she returned her attention to the front as another question was asked. Splinching, that was easy. Raising her hand, she spoke. "Splinching is when you neglect to follow every step of Apparition, and you end up leaving a portion of your body behind. And it can be anything." Any little bit of your body, separated from the rest of you. It was one thing she hoped she never had to go through. |

Elizabeth had slightly raised an eyebrow as Ms Goldbloom had gone off into a tangent about reattaching splinched limbs being painful. While it semed like an important thing to know, the way the woman had gone about it was strange. But luckily, she had pulled herself together enough to continue the lesson, asking the class another question. Smoothing her expression out, Elizabeth raised her hand again. "Determination is focus. In the case of Apparition, it means you have to know you're going to get where you want to go safely. Insufficient determination can lead to splinching too, right?" |

"Moving on.. If i were to tell you that you that I had a box of chocolate sitting up here in my bag, most of you would probably desire nothing more than to get that chocolate. However, you only get a chocolate if you are determined to get it. What are some ways that you could prove yourselves to me that you might deserve this fine Honeyduke’s chocolate?" Angelica stooped talking and gave the students time to think and scribble down notes. Just seeing them dressed in their robes made her remember when she not too long ago to had been a student at Hogwarts. |
Oh. She was talking about splinching! Canaries she really needed to be focusing more on the lesson itself. "Well, to be honest I don't think that the process of putting back splinched limbs has to be painful. It is like anything involving magic, where it is dependent on the skill of the wizard who is completing the process." Lorraine explained, as she then slipped back into her careful evaluation, indicating that was all on the subject of splinching she had to say. Determination. Listening to the Ravenclaw girl, Ms Andrews, Lorraine remembered her name being from the last lesson, Lorraine nodded in agreement. Now where were all the rest of the students? Odd. Lorraine straightened up, folding her hands on her lap as she thought about herself of ways to prove herself to get the chocolate. |
The word chocolate made her look up to the one who mentioned it, and after raising her hand she answered, "Well, that depends on many things, Miss Division Head" she said, her face business-like because chocolate could be involved somehow. "First, I'd like to know if there is chocolate in the room...then I'll ask if I can have some, but since it won't be easy to get it, I assume...then I'll just follow your indications and try my best to apparate without splinching...or simply apparate" she shrugged, sureeee, there were other ways to get the chocolate, especially using her wand, but retrieving the chocolate by force was just rude, not to mention unHuffie like, "So, there...two things at once...determination to apparate and determination to get the chocolate by doing a good job" yes, she didn't know what other way to get the chocolate, then again, she didn't even know if the woman was carrying chocolate. |

Miss Lockhart a Hufflepuff by the judging of her robes was the first and only student to raise her hand to answer her question. Angelica focused her blue eyes on the girl saying "A very well thought out answer, Ms Lockhart, very good! Yes, to prove yourself to me you could have showed determination and also apparated successfully without splinching. All of which would have landed you some chocolate." Glancing down at her watch it she noted that it was high time to wrap up the lesson. They had almost gone over time and she didn't want the students to be late for dinner. Looking out over the students "I'm afraid we don't have more time today. In the third and final lesson you will get the opportunity to try apparating for the first time. If you succeed and perform and successful apparition then you will get a apparition license/certificate from the Ministry of magic." Turning Angelica picked up her bag and headed towards the doors calling out "Bye, students!" and with that the division head had left to go back to her office at the Ministry. |
