Raiden raised his hand. "Thor was the god of thunder...his dad was Odin and his mum was Jord. He was the strongest god, I think... He married the goddess named Sif, but he had babies with another person, they had two boys and a girl." He tapped his chin as he thought. "He was popular as a god, because he protected both humans and the other gods from evillness stuff. He was even more popular than his dad because he said that nobody had to sacrifice... people... to him." People? He'd forgotten about that. Ick. How horrible. "He had a chariot pulled by goats... Which is better than liking geese, I guess, but goats eat a lot and that must've been weird for Thor because he liked to eat a lot too. And Thursday is named after him. Thursday. Thorsday. Thursday." He giggled. It sounded funny.

"Very good," she said to all of them. "Five points each."

"Wow... you carry a picture of Thor in your pocket?" Alessia said and shuddered. "You're weird. Uhmmm Five points."

As Plymouth sung, Alessia danced right along with him. "Five for the answer and making me dance." She turned and looked at Plymouth... her head cocked to the side. Wasn't he cute? Wait... no... cute was for kitties, and kruppies... Plymouth was a boy... and boys... boys were icky!

"Five..." Ewwwwww, why was she all goey eyed over that one... "points."

She turned to the class and sighed. "Ok... Who was paying attention and remembers who was Clifford playing and who that God is?" She said dropping William unceremoniously to the ground. "Oh Sorry Willie" motioning Cliffy over. She tossed him in the air like a salad rotating him.

Raising her hand, Willow answered, "Carden was playing Baldr, the God of beauty and light." Snort.

Raiden raised his hand. "Clifford is supposed to be Baldr, Professor Lupa." He thought for a second. "He's supposed to be the god of light and beauty, and he was married to Nanna... and he had a son. His hall's supposed to be the most beautiful of all the halls in Asgard. He was the one who was killed inadvertently by his brother, because of Loki. When he died, they burned him on his boat, and Thor kicked a dwarf into the fire, and Baldr's wife jumped on it and died, and his horse was put in it too..." Wow, lots of people had died when this guy had, hadn't they... He smiled at the Professor. "He came back after Ragnarok though, at least I think he did."

Evangeline's eyes widened as Lupa tossed Clifford around in the air. Goodness gracious! The woman was going to get him killed!!! Grrrrrr. With a sigh, she raised her hand once more. "Clifford's meant to be Baldr, the Norse god of light and beauty." Oh dear. Clifford would like that. "Baldr had the greatest ship ever built ... Hringhorni, or something and there is no place more beautiful than his hall, Breidablik." Aaaaaaaaah. Weird names much?

Miles was feeling a little neglected after he only got two points and everyone else was getting 5. Grr. He would have to try harder. "Cliff's playing Baldr, the god of beauty and light in Norse Mythology. He is known for the story of his death as a certain chain of events happen afterwards. Him and his mother, Frigg, had dreams about his death, so his mumsy made sure nothing hurt him." It seemed like Baldr was wrapped in his mother's cotton wool a little. Hehe. "But Loki, this mischeif maker, made a magical spear from a plant, and gave it to Baldr's blind brother to throw at him in a traditional game that the God's played; to throw things at Baldr and watch them bounce off." How nice of the Gods, Miles thought.

"See, Frigg didn't make EVERY object on earth vow to never hurt her sonny boy. Misteltoe was still dangerous, I don't know how though. And it's possibly that that what Loki's spear was made from."

Cela raised her hand, "Clifford is Baldr! Baldr is the son of Frigg and Odin and was known to be beautiful, sweet-natured and just. He was almost completely invulnerable. Apart from the mistletoe thing which I already talked about with Frigg..." Cela paused, "So anyways, Baldr was the god of light and peace and his name means 'the Glorious'. He knew stuff about healing herbs and runes, which made him popular with the people of the time. So with the mistletoe thing, basically Loki the trickster god, disguised himself as an old woman and found out from Frigg that she hadn't gotten a promise from mistletoe. Then Loki made Hod- Baldr's blind brother who was the god of darkness- throw the mistletoe at Baldr and it killed him instantly. Sometimes it is said that the mistletoe was made into a spear and sometimes its just plain old mistletoe but It makes more sense for it to have been a spear because even if the gods of the Æsir were not immortal, having a bit of a relatively harmless but tricksy plant thrown at your chest shouldn't kill you... Oh and his death is related in 'The Prose Edda' by Snorri Sturluson. That also talks about the nightmares that Baldr had that actually predicted his death, which was because he was in the hall of truth at the time he had the nightmares. And who knows? Maybe he had a bit of Odin and Frigg's ability to see things."

Ack! What was the Professor doing to him!? "I'm - I'm Baldr, Professor Lupa." The Prefect informed unsurely from his spot in the air. "He's the god of light.. and beauty. He had a wife called Nanna and their son is Forseti. Baldr had the GREATEST ship built and he called it Hringhorni. And Breidablik, his hall, is meant to be the most beautiful hall." Sounded like a decent enough life to him!

Cedric always want to attend on ancient runes because he learn many things in ancient runes then he raised his hand,"Professor Clifford was Baldr.."he paused then he continued"Baldr,was the god of light and beauty...he was the second son of Odin...ummm,, Baldr had the greatest ship ever build named Hringhorni and that there is no place more beautiful than his hall, Breidablik."Cedric finished his speech

"Clifford was Baldr, The god of light and beauty" Ross said with his hand up

"Baldr is often associated with light and beauty," Natka answered, her hand raised. "He is said to have the most beautiful hall ever built, called... uh, Breidablik or something of the sort, as well as some fantastic ship, Hringhorni. It could have actually been the greatest ship ever constructed. As for family, Baldr was the husband of Nanna and the father of Forseti."

"Five points each!" She said, then looking at prefect Green, she tossed her in the air, letting Clifford fall with a thud on the ground. "Who is Evangeline, and tell me about her, k?"

"Evangeline is Tyr" Vanessa stated as she raised her hand. "Tyr is the god of single combat, victory and heroic glory in Norse Mythology, and is portrayed as a single-armed man."

Ouch! Clifford huffed with a frown when Professor Lupa let him fall the the ground carelessly. Hmpf. Rubbing his sore backside, he watched the Professor levitate Evangeline. One-armed Evangeline. That Professor was off her rocker.

"Evangeline is Tyr," Clifford begun with a small smile up at his girlfriend. "Tyr's the god of single combat, victory and heroic glory and he's ... only got one hand." Hence the reason Professor Lupa had taken away Evangeline's. GRR. He wished he'd been Tyr. "Yeah, his hand got destroyed by the Fenris wolf, or something. Oooh. And y'know the day of the week Tuesday? That's in fact 'Tyr's Day.'"

Ana raised her hand "I think Evangeline is Týr" she said "He's the god of single combat, victory and heroic glory. He has only one hand, the other he sacrificed it to Fenrir....and he's son of Odin or Hymir..." she said

"I agree Evangaline does seem to be Tyr. I believe that Tyr is son of Hymir, he has one arm and is god of single combat, victory and heroic glory." Chalice said slightly oddly. That was what she thought, but others had said similar things.

Evangeline had been expecting her to be next, but she had - somehow - thought that Lupa would spare her from the levitating thing. But the woman was evil. Pure evil and the sixteen year old soon found herself floating around the room. Oh dear. Oh dear. Sure, it wasn't THAT high, but Lupa was the one thing keeping her from falling. Oh dear.

"I'm Tyr. The god of single combat, victory and heroic glory in Norse mythology." The sixth year replied, very awkwardly raising her one hand. Hmmm. Was there a point when she was already on air? She just didnt want to lose points. "He's pictured as a one handed man ... obviously." The girl rolled her eyes a bit as she nodded towards the place where her arm should be. "He's called the "Leavings of the Wolf", since he lost his hand so that the wolf Fenrir could be bounded by the gods."

Shauna, who has been silent for the greater part of the class, puts her hand in the air. "Evangeline is Tyr. Some believe that he was considered father of the Gods and head of the Pantheon at one point."

Anna raised her hand and said, "Evangeline is Tyr, the god responsible for giving his name to the day Tuesday. Tyr is the god of single combat, victory, and heroic glory. He's also been portrayed as being a one-handed man, which is erm...well, you know, why Evangline currently has only one arm, as well," Anna said, giving her co-prefect an apologetic look. She briefly shivered at the thought of Evangeline sitting there, one-armed and appearing quite calm about it. Anna wasn't so sure she could remain that calm under those situations. "He was the son of Odin, although some believe he may have been the son of Hymir instead. He could have once been considered the father of the gods and head of the pantheon, which is the temple to all the gods."

Upon seeing Clifford fall down with a thud, Willow blinked a couple of times. Ouch. That probably hurt.

And then she raised her hand again to reply, "Evangeline Green is Tyr, Professor, the one-armed God of warfare, single battle, heroic glory and victory, according to the Norse Mythology." Eyeing the Slytherin prefect floating above them all, Willow shrugged a little with an expression that was very close to be an apathetic one, before continuing, "Also, it is known that the word 'Tuesday' is a derivation from Tyr. He was also known for his great honesty and courage, ma'am."

Raiden put his hand up. "Evangeline Green is supposed to be Tyr." Poor Evangeline, with her missing arm. "Tyr's called the one-handed man, because he's missing, well... his arm. Tuesday is supposed to be Tyr's day, because they used to pronouce Tyr like 'Teuw.' He uhm, he helped to tie up the wolf Fenrir, who was supposed to have eaten the sun should he get loose..." he thought for a second. "There was a werewolf a looooong time ago named Fenrir, wasn't there?" He swore he'd read about a werewolf named Fenrir... who had nommed on people when the moon wasn't full. He'd probably given all werewolves a really bad name... He made a face. "And apparently he took the sacrifices of people who got hanged..."

Copernicus raised his hand. "Professor, Prefect Green is Tyr, the Norse god of hand-to-hand combat and victory. He was also described as very brave and honorable, which I guess can be evidenced in the story of how he lost his hand to the great wolf Fenrir. I actually think that story is really fascinating, considering that Tyr willingly sacrificed his hand so that the wolf could be bound by a dwarf-made ribbon and would stop running rampant on the people and gods. According to legend, the ribbon still holds Fenrir, which means that the loss of one hand would have been a pretty good trade."

Miles started to feel naucius at just looking at the floating students. He HATED heights, and he was so glad he hadn't volunteered. He raised his hand.

"Prefect Green is, in Norse Mythology, the son of Odin and the the god of single combat, victory, and heroic glory. He is known as the 'Leavings of the Wolf', because he sacrificed his right hand to Fenrir, who would only be tied to a special silky ribbon thingy which he could not break, unless one of the gods put their hand in his mouth." Miles flicked through his textbook. "And because Tyr is brave and stuff, he was willing to do it."
