Alessia did not give Cela a glare... she wanted to... but didn't... Why did SHE get all the boys! And now... the cute Hufflypuff prefect who caught her in the hall way with that Old Old Forrester dude. He must have just wanted her to himself. She winked at DomDom...

"Why not Lyra! This is going to be a mythology class..." She said smiling.

"Alright! Sit on the floor, let's get started!" She said standing. "Now remember, listen to my question carefully and answer, do not just take it directly out of the book… I want you to read and comprehend, then answer. Easy one first. Now, what type of mythology is connected to Ancient Runes?"

She wanted to giggle at Dominic. She was clearly getting under his skin, but he didn't even know her. She scooted closer to him then she leaned her head on his shoulder. Maybe he would be nice to her and get to know her. She felt bad for being mean to him and then totally trashing him on her Quill article, well not that bad as he did deserve some of it. Still she wanted to be friends with him.

She raised her hand. "Norse mythology. Like Loki and Valhalla and things like that." She said hoping she got the right answers

Daniel sat at the same spot he picked when he first came, near an open window. He then listened to the Professor's question. He then raised his hand, "Professor, this will be a very, very wild guess but, I think Ancient runes and mythology collided when the time when the gods and the mortals still mingle with each other." he said with a not so confident look up on his face.

Clifford was scared. Scared that Professor Lupa would tackle him to the ground infront of the whole class, and try and snog his face off. That's why he'd chosen a spot on the ground nearer the back of the classroom.. maybe she wouldn't get him there. Eh.

"Erm. I think runes are connected with the Viking gods and Norse mythology, Professor." Clifford tried, raising his hand.

Just like Clifford, Evangeline was seating right in the back of the class, doing her hardest to stay unnoticed. Hopefully, Lupa wouldn't snog Clifford's face off nor would she kill her. If that happened, Evangeline would consider this to be a good lesson.

Slowly, she raised her hand. "That'd be the Norse mythology, Professor." Ack. Evangeline had trouble calling the woman Professor now. "And the viking gods."

Miles read his textbook, but like always, Professor Lupa didn't like it straight out of the book. Sigh. He raised his hand. "Ancient Runes is connected to Norse Mythology, right?" He'd never heard of Norse Mythology, but aah well.

"Two points!" She said nodding.

"Well... yes, but I was looking for Norse, still, one point!" She said nodding.

"Such a smart boyf-" Hmmmm she couldn't tell everyone he was her boyfriend... Don't show favoritism, don't show favoritism... "Two" MILLION... nehhhh... "Uhmmm, Two points."

She sooooooooo wanted to deduct points from this one... but she'd given the correct answer... "Two points, smarty britches..." Grrrrrr... "Prefect Green... Sit over there..." she pointed to the left, "Prefect Carden... over there." she pointed to the right... Separate Evangeline from her (Less') boyfriend.

"Two points, Miles!" She said her smile returning to grace her face. Miles was HOT!

"Norse, right. Yay!! You all are doing great! Alright lets move on.” She said “I need five volunteers to be the Aesir? Who knows what the Aesir is and the names of the five?” she said smiling.

Smarty britches? Evangeline narrowed her eyes at the woman, for a moment completely forgetting she was her teacher for a moment. Grrr. At least, she had awarded her points. Bleh.

Evangeline would have rather stayed with Clifford than get the two points. Just about.

"Sure, Ma'am." She grunted through her teeth, looking anxiously over at Clifford. She would have refused, but she didnt want to get killed. Nor did she want Slytherin to lose points. Gathering her stuff, she stood up and walked over to where Lupa had sent her to, sitting by some ickle firstie.

At the Pro ... woman's next question, she raised her hand once more. "I'll volunteer! And the five Aesir are Odin, Frigg, Thor, Baldr and Tyr." HAH! The woman couldn't deduct points as long as she kept answering right. "They're the principal groups of gods of the pantheon of Norse mythology"

Abby raises her hand. "I want to volunteer Professor Lupa. It is the term denoting a member of the principal group of gods of the pantheon of Norse mythology. They include many of the major figures including Odin, Frigg, Thor, Baldr, and Tyr. They are one of two groups of gods. The others being the Vanir. They fought against each other in the Aesir-Vanir War. This war resulted in the unification of the two groups into one tribe of gods. The 'a' rune was named after the Aesir."

Alessia waited for other students to answer...

She was ... separating them? Oh bummer, this couldn't be good. Wrinkling his nose and shooting Evangeline a sympathetic glance, Clifford shuffled away into the right corner. Bah!

"I'll volunteer, Ma'am." He said, tentavily raising his hand and wondering if this was a safe idea. "The five Aesir are Odin, Frigg, Thor, Baldr and Tyr, I believe.. and they're group of gods from norse mythology?" Or something..

William put his hand up, "I'd like to volunteer professor. The five Aesir I think are Odin, Frigg, Thor, Baldr and Tyr, they're like the groups of gods or something like that." Ugh why did he have to do that, William looked up from his spot on the floor, looking small and pathetic. He gulped as he realized he had just volunteered and almost hoped he'd be too small to do what she wanted.

Paris glanced over at her prefects and had to giggle at Professor Lupa. She was lapping at the pool of insanity so it seemed. And for some reason it was giving Paris a tickle. She raised her hand to answer the question. "They would be Thor, who is my favorite Norse god, well right after Loki that is, and then there is Odin, Baldr, Tyr and Frigg." She told the professor with a smile.

Less ignored prefect prissy pants, hoping others would volunteer.

"Good Abby, take two points, you be Odin." She said making some notes. Then she waved her wand and had a white beard sprout off her face and made her bald. "Lovely!"

"Two points." She said. Didn't she tell him to call her Less... Oh right... she didn't want the others knowing her boyfriend was her student cause them they'd say he was getting preferencial treatment... "You will be Baldr... God of beauty and light..." she sighed like a school girl looking at him. "I don't have to do anything to you... you're already beautiful..." She sighed again.

"Two points to you too... and you will be Thor! God of Thunder!" She said in a deep manly voice. She cast her wand and the boy grew long red hair and a red beard.

"Two points!" The girl didn't volunteer, but she didn't want to have to call on Evangeline... "You can be Frigg," she said smiling at the girl. "She's married to Odin, and mother to Baldr." She cast her wand and gave the girl a cloud that followed her around.

No one else? No one was volunteering?

Alessia narrowed her eyes at the prefect... "Two points." she said and then smiled. "You can be Tyr." She said and giggled. "He sacrificed his arm to Fenrir..." How convenient... She waved her wand, and Evangeline's right arm dissappeared, hand and all.

Clifford's cheeks warmed up when Professor Lupa called him beautiful. She called him BEAUTIFUL in front of the whole ENTIRE class. How humiliating.. and completely mortifying. If only the ground would be so kind as to swallow him up right now and -

WHUUUT!?!?

The Prefect's eyes widened and he gasped in horror when with a wave of her wand, Professor Lupa made one of Evangeline's arms ... DISAPPEAR!

AAAAAAAAH!! The woman was ignoring her now! Totally, absolutely ignoring her AND calling her boyfriend beautiful. UGH! Huffing loudly, Evangeline leant back on her seat and folded her arms across her chest, glaring at the woman.

The woman who was pointing her wand at her. WHAT?

"Professor!!" Evangeline squealed in horror, jumping to her feet and looking down at her .. non-existing arm. "This is totally unnecessary! I dont have to be armless to .... be Tyr!!" Now her blue eyes were carefully looking away from the place where her arm should stay. SHE WANTED HER ARM BACK!!!

"Give me my arm back, Ma'am!" Or she was SO going to Bontecou.

William watched as his hair grew - and changed color from the awesome blond to the red. He felt something on his face and looked down and noticed the bread. "Cool." he said, trying to remember what he knew of the god of thunder. He had it good it seemed as he looked over to the girl and saw her with no arm.

Plymouth was tucked away, doing his best to not be seen. He was listening, sure, but he was AFRAID. Spin the Bottle with Professor Lupa - where she wanted to throw the bottle out - was traumatizing and Plymouth was afraid.


He peeked out to check on the volunteers. Too bad Copernicus hadn't got picked. Plymouth was SO certain that Copernicus deserved to be embarrassed publicly. And Cela hadn't either, so he could go back to hiding behind his classmates and jotting down notes.

She looked over to her boyfriend, he was sooooo dreeeeeeamy when he was blushing. And then she saw him eyeing PrimPrefectPrissyPants... in horror... Oh Yeah! She was uuuuuuugly! She smiled and turned to Evangeline.

"You'll get it back at the end of class..." Less told her lifting her chin... "Unless, you are willing to lose a gagillion points for dissobeying me! You volunteered. You are Tyr... You're lucky it's not the full moon, or the removal of your arm would have been more true to character..." She threatened... Had that ever been done? A Gagillion? That'd be fun...

"See Green? Why not take it in stride, like Willie here." She said and then told William, "Makes you look older..."

Out of the corner of her eye she saw her other boyfriend... the one with the fleas... Why was he sitting so far and hidden... Oh yeah... cause he didn't want to give her fleas! Duh! How sweet... Plymmidoodle was so caring to not want to share his fleas with her... though he should sit closer to Green... Armless and Fleafull...

"So... Abby stand up straight and show off your manly white beard." She levitated Abby and made her twirl. "Who can tell me about The Mighty Odin!" She asked and then smiled. "And remember, no regurgitating the text, I want you to read and comprehend."

Miles' eyes stayed widened as he watched Abby twirl around in the air, was this legal? To ridicule students infront of their class mates, by the teacher?! He felt a little scared. "He was the cheif god in Norse Paganism." Miles spoke, his hand high in the air.

After looking in the textbook, Vanessa put her hand in the air, before speaking. "Odin's role, like many Norse was complex, but he was associated with Wisdom, War, Battle and Death."

How could Professor Lupa take away Evangeline's arm!? That was just ... insane! Wrong on so many levels! Surely there was a law against that or something! Gah! And she'd made them go to separate corners too! That just made it all the more worse, Clifford wanted to go to her now more than ever.

Sigh.

Maybe coming to this lesson had been a bad idea after all?

He couldn't even bring himself to point and laugh at the bald girl with the beard!

"Odin," Clifford started sadly, tearing his eyes away from his one-armed girlfriend and turning back to the front of class. "He was the highest of all the god's, right? Like.. the main man. Yeah, he got to sit in a cool throne or something.. Only him and his wife could sit on the throne which was like some sorta watchtower." Musta been a pretty decent life to him. "Ooh! And he was the god of war and carried a sacred spear and had an eagle helmet, AND magic bow." Sounded kinda greedy. Hmm.

Plymouth was having a Gryffindor moment. Or, maybe it was Ravenclaw. Who knew. But regardless of the consequences of bringing attention to himself, Plymouth wanted points (to impress his girlfriend with) so he raised his hand.


"I don't know all that much, but I do know this: Odin was ODD, man. I mean, one, he kept these BIRDS around him. I don't know about you, but birds are kind of creepy. The owlery is one of the more eeekish places at this school. But he had birds that he thought he could talk to." Plymouth was so sure this dude was nutso, "And he was a vegetarian. Fed his meat to wolves. I mean, I'm pro-feeding your pets, but 1. who keeps wolves as pets, and 2. who doesn't enjoy a little steak every now and then?"

Cale looked around at all the answers and raised his hand. "Well, I know he was the main God of Norse people, right? OH, and he was the God of War, which was probably cause the Norse people liked to fight a lot, right? That makes sense that he'd be their main one," he added, thinking outloud, mainly to himself.

Tobi raised his hand, taking a deep breath before plunging into a long monologue, “In most Polytheistic belief systems, there is usually one who stands above the rest as a leader or a higher god. Such was the case with Odin, he was to Norse mythology as Zeus, Jupiter, Amun Ra was to Greek, Roman or Egyptian mythology, Egyptian being the murkiest to discern a leader among them, the most stunning parallels in mythology might be in Celtic and Norse Mythology. In Celtic Mythology, the god Lugh stands highest according to most mythologists, he is an intellectual god like Odin, as opposed to a god who took his throne by force like Jupiter or Zeus, depictions of both Odin and Lugh show them both to only have one eye. And in artwork, they are often depicted with ravens and spears ,which I think denotes that though they are said to be intellectual, they don’t merely lie down and take it if they should come under battle; The spear is a weapon of war, and the Raven is often an animal connected to battle, strife and death. And also interesting the Druids of the Celtic backrground used their own written language not unlike Runes, called Ogham, which represented different Trees, such as Oak or Elder, to communicate and perform divination.”

Another deep breath, he was starting to turn blue, he’d totally gone on about stuff that probably wasn’t what Professor Lupa wanted to know, but he found it really cool, “As for Odin himself, as I said before, he’s an intellectual god, often associated with wisom, magic, prophecy, and poetry. On the other side of the coin, he is associated with war, battle, hunting, death and victory, overall, and extremely complicated God warranting a lot of study to fully understand him.”
