Ana raised her hand and said "A blank cannot be called a "rune" because there is no symbol on it."

Juniper raised her hand. "Well, runes are symbols that mean things, aren't they? And if one is blank, one, it's not a symbol, and two, it doesn't mean anything. So it clearly couldn't be a rune," she said. It made complete logical sense.

Becca's hand shot into the air. "Rune refers to the symbol on the stone, not the stone itself. So, if the stone is blank, then it certainly cannot be considered a rune, can it?"

Wow! Anna was finally on a roll. There was hope for her in the field of Ancient Runes after all! With newfound determination, Anna shot her hand into the air once again. "A blank can't be considered a rune, because a rune is a symbol, not the token that carries the symbol," she said.

Miranda raised her hand. "Professor? It can't be a rune without a symbol, because the symbol IS the rune, not the object."
