Twilight kept making notes as the professor spoke. She had noted the arrival of two other professors, she looked up and nodded in their directions, to show her respect. 'This is cool' she thought professors auditing a class to gain knowledge outside of their field. Really cool. She really loved being at Hogwarts.

"All very good guesses but no, and Miss Roscoe, yes they were, but that's not the answer I'm looking for."

Alessia Lupa was the sweetest woman... until she felt she was being direspected. "Miss Jones," she said slamming her wand on the child's desk to wake her up. Her hood fell off, and she quickly pulled it back on, but not before showing how her hair was a matted mess, and her face gaunt and tired. She hardly looked like herself. "Five points from Ravenclaw. If you are unable to stay awake, I'll take off 50 more." She turned around and walked back to her desk, and put both hands on her desk, closing her eyes. She turned back around and smiled.

Perfect! The divination professor probably saw her without her hood on. She gave him a nod. Her class was open to students of all ages.

Alessia smiled at the kids who seemed surprize for the professor showing up. "Eyes up front children..." she said smiling. "No one's answered my question correctly... try again. Anyone? Which nation can we see emerge in 800 bc with ties to Runes?"

"Oh!" Tobi raised his hand, "The vikings, the norsemen!"

Set raised his hand and said, "Uhhhh I think they were originally derived from the greeks, but german and Scandinavain settlers came to britain and used them around 300-400 c.e."

Anna thought carefully about the question being asked and then raised her hand. "What about Hellenic Greece, or the ancient civilization of Hellas?" she suggested. Anna had never been the greatest Ancient Runes student, but perhaps if she studied and worked hard, she could make decent marks in class this school year. Today's lesson was proving to be interesting, at least.

Daphne's head shot up as something slammed on her desk, inches away from her face. Her eyes were wide open now. The woman, who looked quite pleasant before was not at all pleasant at the moment. Daphne just sat up straight as the woman yelled at her. "Yes ma'am," she replied quietly after losing 5 points and on the verge of losing 50 more.

She was now determined to stay awake, keeping herself as uncomfortable as possible to avoid drifting off. Her quill moved furiously across the parchment as she started noting down everything to keep her mind active. But after a few minutes she began to feel sleepy again, but Daphne just shook her head, her red curls bouncing like wild, to stay awake.

"was it the Etruscans that started the Roman Empire?" chris asked hopefully

Melanie pondered on the question. She didn't really know much about Ancient ruins, but she figured she may as well take a stab at it. Melanie's hand shot up in the air. "Umm, Proffesser, Was it the Mayans?" she asked, hoping she wasn't completely off.

"No children... I'm going to give you one more chance to answer... think more... south..." She said smiling.

Hmmmm. Hesitantly, Evangeline raised her hand. "Is it Persia, Ma'am?" There was no harm in trying, was there? She didnt think so. "Or maybe Assyria?"

Barry raised his hand once more "The Phoenicians perhaps?" said Barry "Or somewhere else in the middle east."

Tobi tried one last time, just about to give up. He raised his hand. "Was it Macedonia?"

Mackenzie was taking notes the whole time. She didn't know the answer to the question, but she was thinking of countries that were further South. She couldn't think of anything. She listening as the other students answered the question.

Cale thought long and hard about the answer for this one, wrinkling his dark eyebrows in thought before finally raising his hand. "I'm guessing that it might have been the Turkish people who used runes," he suggested, trying to think of areas that were south of Germany. This one should have been easy for him, being of Germany descent himself. But he was ALWAYS bad at Geography. Booo. The only basis for his guess was that he had glanced in his book SOMEWHERE that Turkish languages had come from Runes. He thought.

Tanjiro hesitatingly rose his hand to answer the question he was very unsure about. The answer he was thinking about was very vague but he was going to give it a shot. "Professor, was it the Phoenician empire?"

Anna raised her hand to attempt the question once again. She honestly had no idea what the answer to this question was, but someone was bound to get the correct answer sooner or later---right? "What about the ports of Argos and Corinth?" she suggested, hoping this time her answer would be correct...or at least closer to the correct answer.

Qaz raised her hand, 'How about Alemannia/Bavaria? Which is I think, somewhere around Germany.'

Tobi was at a complete loss. He had no idea. All his previous research about runes had lead him to believe that Runes were borne of the Goths of Eastern Europe, The Anglo-Saxons of Germany, Netherlands and England, and the Vikings of Scandinavia. Moreover, the earliest surviving runes have only been dated back to 200 BCE, so what could a civilization arising 600 years earlier and farther south have to do with it?

He was getting a headache.

Mariel was not well versed in Geography, but she thought she'd attempt an answer. She hadn't heard the ones she thought of answered by anyone else and knew Sumerian and Egyptian civilizations contributed a lot to writing forms, so raising her hand, she ventured a guess. "Could it be Egypt?" Although she was fairly certain that it was established as a nation long before 800 BC. But possibly she was on the right track.

Well, this was an extremely hard question. After pondering it over for a long time as she chewed on her bottom lip, Willow raised her hand hesitantly, "Is it Norway, ma'am? Or Sweden, maybe?"

Qaz tried again, 'Well, there's always good old Ireland. Most everything happened there, at least according to the Irish.'

Tobi tried one last time, trying to keep the frustration out of his voice he raised his hand and asked, "What about the Norte Chico or Caral Civilization in South America?"

Jayne sighed inwardly to herself as she listened to everyone's guesses. She herself didn't know, but being impatient as always led her to just want the answer. She herself had no idea really, since anything she had thought of had already been stated then turned down.
Crossing her legs at the knee she thought about giving a guess. She wasn't normally one to participate other than in classes such as arithmancy, but this one really wasn't proving to be so bad... She hadn't thought to take it back at MacAlisters.
Finally, she raised her hand a little and asked, "The Mesoamerica area?" Though she felt fairly sure it was incorrect. Not that that was different from anyone elses answers.

Lyra raised her hand when she wanted to take a guess, only an educated guess of course. "Professor would it be Denmark?" She had a couple of others to choose from but decided to start with this one first. Everyone else was giving it their best and she decided to do the same.

Set raised his hand. "Was it the Egyptians?" he asked.
