Lesson One: Introduction/Welcome Heading into the Great Hall, you notice that all the tables have been pushed to the sides of the room and replaced with rows of between 30 and 40 desks. The room has been arranged in a manner that would induce learning. In the front of the room, there were a few stacks of mats that would be utilized later, along with hoops and other equipment. No evidence of any professor is present in the room at the moment. ooc: You may post arriving if you'd like, but note that the lesson won't start until 8pm EST (about 16 hours away). Keep chatting to a minimum! Thanks ;) |
Jessica was very eager to start the Apparition lessons. She left the common room, heading upwards, to the Ground Floor. The girl entered the Great Hall quietly, noticing the changes. It seemed as if she was the first to arrive. Therefore, she just waited in silence. |
Kayla entered the great hall and looked around, all the tables had been pushed to the side. Wow it made the hall look that much bigger. She spotted another girl already there and she gave her a smile and stood to the side and waited for others to arrive. |
Jessica noticed the Huffie Prefect entering the Great Hall. At least she wasn't alone anymore. The girl smiled, so Jess greeted her: "Hi, it's Kayla, right? I'm Jessica. It's weird we haven't spoken up to now."she realized. "Looking forward for the lesson?" Jess asked. After that, she remained silent, remembering that chatting wasn't much agreated. |
Elizabeth made her way to the Great Hall, a bit curious as to what Apparition lessons were going to entail. And as she entered the room, she tilted her head to one side as she examined how things had changed inside. Looking around, she saw Kayla and another Huffie already there, so smiled at them as she made her way over to the side of the room. It appeared everyone was too nervous to sit down, so she didn't want to be the first one to. Especially on the off chance they weren't supposed to. |

"Oh most definitely" Kayla answered. "Although I can't actually take the test until next year but at least I'll have had practice." Quote:

Qaz entered the Great Hall. She was one of the first to arrive. She took one of the desks in the back, pulled out one of her textbooks and began to read, waiting for the lesson to start. |
Freya walked into the Great Hall, and spotted only a few other students inside and waiting. 'Oh well.' She thought as she took a seat on the floor beside the wall, and keeping her long legs in front of her. 'I wonder if we'll learn anything new...' True, Freya had learned to apparate several years ago, whether it had been legal or not she still wasn't sure, although it was necessary. She took out her new book from her side bag and propped it up on her legs, then began to read. Freya looked down at her strange, silver watch. It was nearly time for the class to start. She stood up and walked to the last row of seats, it made sense for the younger students to have the front ones, they needed this training more than herself after all. |
Her forest green eyes blinked a couple of times as she took the scene before her. The great hall was. . . gone. Or rather, it looked completely different. Instead of the long tables there were now a lot tiny little desks. The kind that were used during classes--which instantly made her think that this apparition lesson would be theorical. Hopefully; she really was not looking forward to the practical part. An automatic shudder escaped from her. Not really paying attention to her surroundings, or if some of the Ministry people were there already, the quickly claimed one of the empty desks as she took seat. |
Daphne hurried into the Great Hall for the lesson. She was startled by the sight of about 50 desks. It reminded her of the OWLS, something she would have been thrilled to forget. Nevertheless she settled down at a desk. She was somewhat disappointed, though it made sense to do some lecturing prior to any practical lesson. Looking around, it seemed as if only students were arriving. "Strange," she mumbled as she put a roll of parchment, a quill, and ink on her desk. It seemed odd to allow a bunch of teenage students alone in such a large room. But it wasn't up to the Ravenclaw to make such judgments. She was just eager to start learning. Life would be so much more convenient if she could just apparate from point A to point B. |
Bouncing into the Great Hall, Terry blinked at the several students there. Surely more had signed up than this? And he'd thought he'd be LATE to this thing too. And they'd sure made an interesting lay out for the desks here. What'd been wrong with the tables? Eh, he only hoped though that was going to be mostly practical. How were the meant to be getting around places by sitting at a desk and writing? |
Anna headed into the Great Hall, immediately taking notice of the fact that the house tables had been pushed to the sides of the room and replaced with desks. Well, one could not deny learning would take place today. Shrugging, she made her way down the long aisles and found a seat near the front of the room. When she was seated, she sat quietly in her desk and waited for the woman from the Ministry, whatever her name was, to show up. |
Maddox walked quietly in to the great hall. He was excited for his first lesson, but at the same time nervous, but he wouldnt let his peers see that. He had to keep his bad boy rep in control. He patted his chest where his money was inside of his leather cloak. Once he got close enough to where everone else was he sat down and waited for the class to begin. |
As more students started trickling in, Elizabeth moved from her position against the wall. The new arrivals were choosing desks, so she didn't want to get left out, and get some bizarre desk nobody else wanted. Weaving through the desks, she grinned at Maddox before choosing a desk not far from where Willow and Daphne were seated. Ravenclaw Quidditch solidarity or whatever, although she recalled that she hadn't seen Daphne at the tryouts. Taking a book out of her school bag, she checked the small money bag that was also inside, before settling in to read until the instructor showed up and started class. |
Vanessa grinned as she walked into the great hall. eeeh the apparition lessons. She was definetly looking forward to this, although she would probably suck at it. Twisting a strand of brunette hair aorund her finger, she walked down towards where the other students were sitting, in a rows of chairs which had replaced the four usual tales. "Hey Terry," She nodded as she looked at him, before sitting down at the desk alongside his. |
Nikita entered the great hall, alone and nervous for maybe the third time in her life. They had offered this class last year, right? And why hadn't she taken it then? Nikita felt sixth year was late to start this, and worried that she'd be the only one of her year in attendance. After a quick glance around at the students arriving, a few she recognized from seventh year and even more from her own year. That relaxed her considerably as she joined the girls and boys milling around. |
Ludo came down the stairs and entered the Great Hall. This time he knew he wasn't late. He was very excited that Apparation could finally be something more than just something his older siblings could do. He looked around the Hall. Several students were already here. He looked around, and saw Liz. Quote:

Whistling her way inside, Kaika wondered if she'd made the right choice when she signed up. Apparition Lessons. She could apparate with Crabby if the little house elf was around, and willing to do so. Which is probably very likely. But, yes, she needed to take a few lessons, because she had no idea what to do, think or how to react. Kaika was suddenly anxious about this silly session, not that they'll be doing anything in this session, right? Mostly, the first ones, whether it is a lesson or a session, did nothing more than a simple introduction to everything, so, maybe it will be only theory what they will be given today. Hopefully not. |
The tall oak wood doors opened as a young looking woman entered the Great Hall, her hazel eyes glancing around approvingly to make sure the area was suitable. It was evident that she had not been back to Hogwarts for several years As the Magical Transportation Department Head walked towards the front of the room, noting the socialization among the students, she felt reminiscent towards the old days when it was her and Teal doing something of the same and wondered how many of these children would end up just like her? Eager minded young individuals, many of them appeared. Pausing to look around at the desks facing ordinarily where the dias was only once she had reached that end, she waited a moment before speaking. "Good afternoon students," Lorraine spoke poignantly, "My name is Lorraine Brothmeister, the Department Head of Magical Transportation and one of your instructors for Apparition Lessons this term. Myself and Ms Angelica Goldbloom will be with you for three days throughout the term and we hope our presentations will be both helpful and enjoyable. Also, before we begin, please inform us of your name before answering or commenting on something for the first time. Any questions before we begin?" ooc: sorry guys, i meant to start this last night! *pokes real life* I got back later than anticipated . . . But i'm here now! =D |
Elizabeth broke off from her conversation with Ludo as a woman strode into the room, heading for the front and then turning to speak to them all. Elizabeth turned in her seat again, to show that she could pay attention, making a mental note of the woman's name, as well as the name of the other instructor, as well as the rest of what Ms. Brothmeister had said in her speech. But then she shook her head slightly, feeling the need to indicate that she didn't have any questions. She just wanted to find out what they were going to be doing in this lesson. Which she figured she'd find out without having to ask. |
Ludo opened his mouth to reply to Liz, but just then a woman he presumed to be their instructor walked into the Hall. He smiled and turned back to face the front of the room. The woman introduced herself and briefly summarized how the lesson schedule would work. Ludo pondered over what little knowledge he had on Apparation as she asked for questions. One item felt heaviest in his head. He raised his hand and said, "Excuse me Ms. Brothmeister. Oh, I'm Ludo Snicket." He added this, remembering her request for students to address themselves. He continued a bit hesitantly. "Could we discuss...splinching?" Ludo had a feeling they would...it sounded so unpleasant. |
Ah, the instructors have arrived. Qaz put away the textbook she was reading, and started taking notes... She had her galleons ready.... |
Freya looked up from her book as the instructors began to arrive, and placed her money bag on the desk space in front of her. She did not have any questions, but learning more about splinching might be interesting. Freya closed her novel and put it back in her bag. |
After waving half-heartedly at Elizabeth and Daphne as she spotted the girls closer to her, Willow shifted her weight to her other foot, before shooting a glance at the rest of the people entering the room. So nervous the girl was, that she failed to remember that Daphne had not been in tryouts and that she'd been meaning to talk to her because of that. Not really knowing how long she'd been standing there --surely, not much-- Willow finally saw someone that was clearly an adult entering the room and strolling towards the dias. Ministry woman, perhaps? And sure enough, the woman told them she was from the Ministry and that her name was Lorraine Broth. . . something --She didn't catch the last part-- and that if they had any questions. Oh, she definitely had questions. Raising her hand promptly, the girl began, "My question is also about splinching, ma'am. But more specific, I suppose." She took a deep breath. "Does it hurt?" Oh, it'd better not, because Willow had the feeling that she would be splinching several times before actually doing the entire apparition thing properly. And if it did hurt, well. . . she would be walking out the doors of the Great Hall and leaving the place before suffering any kind of physical pain. There was a reason why she was still standing. "Oh, and my name is Willow Kovac," ended the Ravenclaw, remembering her request. |
