This train of thought referred to how Tobi actually managed to stop cleanly when Professor V. whistled. (Go him) His time Flying was mellowing the high strung Gryffie right out. With a little pressure, he turned his broom to face the way from which he came, and set off again. Kayla was coming up on him so he made a wide veer around her. No sweat. |
Marcus felt the rush as he kicked off, his feet leaving the ground. He zoomed away, happily laughing with joy. This was wonderful. He hadn't been able to fly since the middle of summer since grounded included no flying. After flying around for a few minutes, just remembering the rush and the wonderful feeling, Marcus stopped in mid-air and curiously watched the other flyers. No one he knew, too bad. He heard a whistle and saw that some students were starting to fly the other way around. A bit curious yet somewhat confused he followed their example. |
Maddox quickly stopped his broom. A little to quickly this time. He almost fell off. Once he was stable again, and decided he should slow down a bit, he flipped his broom into the opposite direction, and dodged all the other students. Flying helped him think, and these drills were fun. |

TWEEEEEEET! A chuckle escaped from Vindictus. This is so much more theraputic after dealing with those idiotic Hufflepuff and Gryffindor first years. |
Stopping midair, Liz turns a nice sweep to her left, and takes off, to round the stadium again. |
As she was zooming along in one direction, Vanessa was ready for the next change of direction, so when she heard the whistle, the petite hufflepuff pulled on her broom again. Maybe she pulled it a little too hard this time, for she went rolling over before coming to stop. Well wasn't that exciting. After catching her breath back, she changed direction before zooming off again, this time being little more careful. |
Jenn glanced at the girl again. Then she heard the lovely whistle again, and turned to go the other way, flying up next to the girl she had almost ran into. |

He did a quick turn and started off in opposite direction. The turning at least was getting to be no problem. maybe he could do something more cool to change direction next time. |

The third year gripped her broomstick tightly with both hands before pulling it upwards as hard as she could until she'd somehow managed to almost come to a standstill. Now it was time to change direction! The determined look returning to her face she smoothly whirled her broom around until it pointed straight at the opposite direction before zooming off into that direction. Hah! Who'd said she couldn't do this?! She still didn't know who'd just so perfectly dodged her but whatever. |
Hannah Leigh smiled at the annoying whistle. It was going to be squeaking for a long time. She decided to make this turn a bit more interesting. She turned upside down and switched sides. She smirked and brushed the dark hair out of her face. She looked around for anyone she knew, and saw... Marcus. She flew up to him as quickly as possible. "Hey Marcus! What's up?" |
Maddox stopped with a bit more ease then the last time. He grinned at the amazing abilities his broom had. Once he was completly stopped, he then turned in the opposite direction, racing around the pitch again. |
For all his fancy book learning, Copernicus wasn't super skilled on his broom. His laps had gone well enough, but this turning on a dime stuff was way beyond his skill level. Merlin, this was sort of embarrassing! He felt like one of those big Muggle buses trying to turn a corner, and if the words "three point turn" had meant anything to him... that would have been appropriate. Each time the whistle blew, he worked harder to turn and it DID seem to be getting better each time. A bit. |
Qaz was going faster this time, so when she heard the whistle and tried to pull up, she slid forward and started tilting to the right. She corrected by tilting forward enough to get her balance back, the pulled up to a stop. After rearranging her grip, she turned to the left and picked up speed again. |

"Good, good!" Vindictus called out. "When you hear my next whistle, I want you to stop in mid-air, hover and listen!" |
This was awesome! Finally she could be let loose on a broom. Too bad there wasn't an advanced class. She was a seeker. Ha! She already had control. She was not complaining however. She was flying, finally! Agie raced around the arena, she heard the whistle and easily changed directions. She lowered herself on the broom so she could go as fast as possible. |
Cale grinned as he heard Vindictus blow the whistle again, and he stopped easily this time and turned almost effortlessly. All he had needed was to loosen up a little, he thought to himself. He sped off in the opposite direction, ears listening intently for another whistle or instruction from Vindictus. |
At the sound of the whistle, Anna once again pulled back on her broom. As soon as she'd stopped, Anna steered thr broom until she was facing the exact opposite direction. She then took off, soaring around and around the pitch while enjoying the fairly nice weather. As the wind blew through her hair, Anna briefly wondered what Professor Vindictus had in store for them next. They sure were doing quite a bit of warming up. Her mind wandered back to the Flying final exam she'd taken last school year. That single exam had turned out to be one of the most exciting classes she'd ever attended. Hopefully this lesson would prove to be just as fun. Anna continue to listen carefully for the sound of the whistle blowing, the cue that would tell her to once again change the direction she was currently flying in. |
Listening to what the professor said, she nods and turns the other way for the last lap. |
Ah, hovering. Tobi wondered how well that would work on his new broom. Mind over matter though, if he could protect himself from Professor Kazimeriz, he could hover a racing broom. Tobi continued his laps, listening for the whistle. |
Copernicus lifted his hand and gave a jerky half-wave to Jenn before holding on for dear life again. He turned at the whistle, feeling... less ashamed about this latest turn and listened for the next whistle. |
Jenn grinned at what the proffessor had said. So stop the next time and listen? So that meant they where going to start doing something besides warming up then, right? Jenn thought excitedly. With that she turned quickly around and started going around the other way, leaning down so that she would go faster. She was a black, brown, and blue blur as she zoomed around, dodging students. Smiling happily when she saw Copernicus wave, she waved back again, watching him turn around. He did pretty good, and Jenn was almost impressed. Chuckling slightly, she went back to zooming around the stadium, her hair flying out behind her. |
Maddox heard the professor's instructions, and decided that since this was his last lap he was going to go all out. He hugged his body so close to the broom, that even a piece of parchment couldnt get between them. This action made his broom go so extremely fast that he flashed past everyone, and he sounded like a jet flying through the air. His grin was so huge, it was hurting his face. |
Vindictus had disappeared for a few minutes and returned to the pitch carrying two medium sized red balls. Satisfied that the class was warmed up, he blew the whistle. TWEET! "Today, we're playing a game. A game that will help you fine-tune your flying instincts. If you can dodge a Quaffle and a Bludger or even a person flying directly at you, then you can handle this game - Flying Dodgeball." He grinned and held up the two red balls. "Who here has ever played the Muggle game of Dodgeball? If you have, please share the rules with the class." |
