"This will be a unique year."

Helios, the sun dipped Greek prince, entered with his eyes on the ceiling and his hands fussing with his tie. He could never get it right. Up and over, tuck and through? Or was that shoelaces? He never wore shoes, so he didn't know.

Anyways...

With the clip clop of his sandles, he carried himself over to the Hufflepuff table, and sat down in some random seat. This was a testament to his lack of real friends. Not bothered in the least, he sat tall and proud in his seat.

"Well, before I got the letter, I thought I was a normal person. Well, excpet for that one time I set my teacher's chalkborad on fire when i got really mad in her class." Set laughed at the memory. "I just went to school and was normal. I was really smart and played two instruments!" Set was amazed at how boring his life was before this. He was sooooooooo glad for all this excitment!

Kait didn't know what to say about that. Luckily her sister and her got along pretty well. She didnt know what she would of done without her. Kait didn't know what else to ask. She turned one of the glasses infront of her around and around and then asked, "Who else do you know from Hufflepuff?"

Cadence giggled at her BFF I don't have a favorite color. I think they're all... fantabulous! Although I'm particularly fond of teal, navy, and violet.

Wow! That's so cool! What instruments do you play Set? She paused as she turned to look at John, trying to figure out where to start. Well, my mum is a witch and my dad is a muggle. Before now, my dad wanted to raise me as a muggle because both my parents thought I needed to learn about both worlds, even though I would always be a witch even if I wanted to be a muggle. So, I went to the Jane Austen Academy for Exceptionally Gifted Girls where I even skipped a grade. I've never had any boys who are friends, but all my friends have been muggles. My mum started telling me more about magic after I got my letter from Hogwarts.

Right now my mum and dad are in Africa. They'll be there all year because my mum is helping educate witches and wizards there so they can secretly work to get their country out of crisis. My dad is helping translate for their group because he's brilliant! He speaks over twenty languages!

So, that's pretty much my life. What about you? She looked at Ana, who she didn't know much about.

Peering a little way down the table, Jake caught sight of the kids from earlier who bursted into his compartment to ask about dungbombs.

Drat, he thought to himself. I should apologise if they're in my house.

Well, technically he should apologise anyway, but bleh.

"I'll be right back," Jake said to the two he was talking to. "Don't take my seat."

Way to sound childish, dolt.

Jake wandered down and stopped behind John, who he recognised as being the total spit of Jack, but a tad quieter and no flirting expression.

"Erm... hi..." he bit his lip. Jake hated doing this with a passion.

Oh! Hello! Cadence said, looking back and forth between John and Jake. She fought back a giggle with much difficulty. You must be John's brother's friend! And I think I rudely stopped in at your compartment earlier. I'm very sorry about that! It was very tactless to interrupt you.

Kayla made her way into the great hall and straight over to the Hufflepuff table, she was only a little late getting here. She looked around the table and smiled at everyone already there. Oooh...look at all the new Huffie's and they all looked like promising witches and wizards.

She spotted Helios, sitting on his own and memories of the end of term feast flashed through her mind and she pointedly ignored him, she wasn't about to start her year off on a sour note. Kayla took a seat and immediately grabbed some of the delicious looking food and merely sat listening to the conversation going on around her.

"Well, I play the saxaphone and piano! it's really cool! Do you play any instruments?" Set asked.

"Quite a few people actually" Reed told her. He had met a few fellow Badgers on the train ride over. Of course he would have to concentrate to think of everyone's name but he decided that he wouldnt' go into detail. THat would take too much effort. "I'm guessing you know alot, seeing as how this isn't your first year here?" He asked her.

Cadence turned from the boy standing behind John for just a moment. It was a good thing she was such a good multitasker. I play... my vocal chords. The choir teacher at my muggle school used to tell me I was a very naturally gifted singer. To me, though, it doesn't matter how well you sing or play an instrument, it's the meaning behind it that makes it beautiful.

"Africa... twenty languages... great!

Well both my parents are muggles so i didn't knew nothing until i got my letter.. just what every muggle knows, fairy tales and unicorns... Sometimes strange things happen but we tried to think rational about it, so when i got my letter i couldn't believe... it was like something i always knew...
That's all, i think!" she took a deep breath and smiled

Jake bit his bottom lip, a habit he needed to stop unless he wanted to cut his mouth or something.

"Hi," bite, bite "Yeah. Erm, so, I wanted to... you know-" Say sorry, I wanted to say sorry for my rude behaviour earlier. I was in a bad mood. That's not so hard to say. "I'm, like... sorry? Yeah, sorry, for... you know... shouting at you earlier."

His speech becoming clearer, Jake stopped shifting his purple trainers about and stood stock still. "It just seems that... someone's way of behaviour is rubbing of on me... It wasn't your fault... bad mood." Jake rubbed the back of his neck and twisted his face around again. Seriously, Upstead! What is with the stupid faces?!

"I'm Jacob... or Jake," he said, lamely.

Now she turned from Set to Ana, smiling. Wow! That's really wicked! How did your parents take the news?

"I agree completly." Set really got Cadence. She had a very profound message and he like that!

Apology accepted! Afterall, we're family now! No hard feelings! I'm Cadence, by the way. And this is Set she indicated the boy next to her Ana she gestured to the girl sitting across from her and I think you already know John. She smiled at Jake, and then looked down the table to where he had come from. Seeing disgusted looks on the faces of his friends before they hastily turned away, she frowned a bit and wondered why they were looking at them like that. She looked back at Jake, smiling once again. You're more than welcome to hang out with us any time! Just so you know!

"Well, they were surprised at first, but then they agreed that it fit. I mean with the whole chalkboard insident." Set laughed. "Now, they are really glad. They say it'll be awesome having a wizard in the family!"

That's really great Set!Cadence looked into Set's eyes for a moment and smiled, and then out of the corner of her eye she saw food appear on the dishes lining the table. Woah! That's... spectacular! She put some food on her plate, but only took little bites, wanting to make sure she could still continue the conversations she was having. And Ana, how did your parents take you being a witch?

"Shocked..first, but like me they always felt something different and they are very proud and happy. And now is probable that my cousin is a wizard too because he was... well different like me" she smiled.

"Ok, erm thanks," Jake stuttered. "It's good to know I know some Hufflepuffs... my own age."

As he said his statement he looked up and saw Kayla. Oh yeah, she was in Hufflepuff and the other prefect was... Ohno.

Giving a quick wave to Kayla and adding that last bit to his comment, Jake let a look of dread cross his face.

Where is Cameron?! Jake wasn't sure if the boy would be pleased or not. Looking around the room, Jake noticed his friend through their matching lack of great height, and realised he was in Slytherin.

Oh... maybe I should have paid attention earlier...

"Gottago," he blurted out and bee-lined for his friend.

That will be really awesome if your cousin comes to Hogwarts too! Maybe he'd even be in Hufflepuff with us! Cadence continued nimbling at her food. She had never been happier to be anywhere in her whole entire life. She had loved her friends at the Austen Academy and her parents, but here.... here she belonged. She was a part of something great.

Bye! Jake seemed very nervous about something. Cadence really hoped he was okay and that he knew that he had a friend in her and could trust her.

Amanda headed over to the Hufflepuff table, for the first time since she'd ever been at Hogwarts. She wanted to talk to Kayla about what had happened on the train, with the whole conversation with Zeke after she had left but she couldn't really say a lot when there were little ears around probably listening.

She spotted Kayla and headed over to her. "Hey Kayla, can we talk for a couple minutes?" Amanda said, straightening out her Slytherin robes, ignoring any stares of the other Hufflepuffs at the table.

Set filled his plate to the brim. Oh, he was hungry!!!! He asked Cadence, "How did this food get here excalty?" He was having so much fun!

Reese trailed over to the Hufflepuff table,looking for Dustin or one of her friends.She scanned the table,but there was no luck.He wasn't anywhere.She was about to head back to her table until a boy caught her eyes.Hm.Has she met him before?The boy didn't look familiar,so why not try to make some more Huffie friends.She walked over to the boy and smiled."May I sit with you?"

I'm not sure... it was just... there. I mean, it couldn't have just appeared there out of no where... that's the first exception to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration. It says so in our Transfiguration book. Maybe it was magicked onto the plates from somewhere beneath us? Cadence hated it when she didn't have the answer to something. She was determined to figure out where the food had come from. I'll find out and tell you later!

Reed was still looking around the hall. This was all new to him. Then a Slytherin girl that he didn't know asked to sit with him. She caught him off guard but he didn't mind at all. "Sure go ahead" he said motioning for her to have a seat. She looked around his age but he couldn't tell. "I'm Reed" He said givign her a smile. "And you would be?" He asked her.
