Mrs. Weasley 04-07-2009 03:13 AM

Abby had to smile at Professor Lupa. She tells her how she feels and... and the ditsy chick just doesn't get it. "Yes, you are the professor, and I am the student at least until I get a new wand. Then I get to play the professor, and you are the naughty student. Can I go now pretty please with sugar on it?"

Droo 04-07-2009 04:32 AM

"Well then, I guess you can stay in here longer then." Less smiled back, and walked out of the room locking it behind her. This kid was going to learn manners and respect for authority before she would let her go. Oh and the two bits of wand on floor vanished.

Mrs. Weasley 04-07-2009 04:59 AM

Abby yells at the top of her lungs. "That is the most irritating professor I have ever met. If I ever get out of here, I swear I'm going to let her tickle that dragon and let him eat her." Abby sits on the floor by the door. "There's got to be a way to get a message to someone. I wonder if Professors Truebridge and Kazimeriz have started their duel yet?" Abby starts crying. She hasn't been this miserable since she left Barrow. "I've lost my wand. That witch of a teacher isn't going to ever let me out of here. What else is going to happen?" Abby crawls over to get a hankie out of her back. She opens it up and empties everything out on the floor. Then she finds it her owl whistle. Abby blows it and hopes Eli will hear it.

Droo 04-07-2009 06:39 PM

After a few hours, Professor Lupa walked back in. "Miss Wright," She said in a very angered voice, "I am sincerely dissapointed in you. Whatever had happenned to me, I am still your elder and your professor. I never ceased to be that. I deserved and still deserve respect." She pulled Abby's wand out of her pocket. "I have your wand intact right here, the one you saw me break was merely an illusion to scare you for the purpose of this detention. I had hoped a girl with your homework record would be more well behaved." Alessia said and sighed. "And to have threatened me, the way you did, while I was... not myself, that really shows a lack of character." She closet her eyes and took a breath, still holding her wand. "What do you have to say for yourself Miss Wright?"

Mrs. Weasley 04-08-2009 03:36 AM

Eli makes a hasty retreat from the room when Professor Lupa arrives.

Abby looks up when Professor Lupa returns to the room. "Professor Lupa, you're you. I'm mean your back to normal. What happened? Did Professor Kazimeriz figure out what was wrong with the mirror? Abby gets up and walks over to the professor. She wants to hug her, but she not sure how the professor would take that. "I am sorry I acted inappropriate for my grade point average. I have a tendency to become too fond of people. I guess that makes me different from the other students. It didn't seem to matter to them that the professors were sick. I have tried to respect you and do as you told. I am sorry if I asked inappropriately when I was at my wit ends. I will understand if you do not want me to continue in your OWL class next term." Abby didn't know what else to say. Right now she wants a hot shower and a chance to make sure Professor Kazimeriz and Truebridge are okay. After that she doesn't know what she will do.

Droo 04-08-2009 11:57 AM

"Is that all you have to say for yourself? That you feel you were in the right?" Alessia sighed and said "I'm releasing you from detention, because you simply cannot be taught. I'll be speaking to the headmaster." She handed the girl her wand. "You are free to go." And with that, Alessia left.

XanaSnape 04-11-2009 05:34 PM

Professor Kazimeriz opened the chamber door to reveal a dimly lit library. A simple desk sat in the middle of the room with a hard, straight-backed wooden chair in front of it. There was an empty pitcher and a glass on the table along with a small stack of books on manners and behavior.

"It seems to me, Mr. Sunrider, that you have failed to learn the essentials of basic manners and etiquette. This detention will serve to rectify your shortcomings in this matter." He gestured to the books. "Since your ambition is to have a smart mouth when speaking to professors, I find it only appropriate that we start you on the journey to having a truly 'smart mouth' and a grasp of etiquette and manners."

"There are approximately 450 books on etiquette, respect, behavior modification and other self-help topics in this library... give or take 1,000." he smirked. "There are also several dictionaries and a thesaurus or two, I would wager. Your task is simple: You will read each page of these books, reading the highlighted passages on manners and etiquette aloud. When you finish reading each page of the book, you will tear out the page and eat it. Be careful, for the edges are gilded and terribly sharp. It would be such a pity to get paper cuts all over your tongue and lips." He smirked. "You will continue to eat the pages until you have completed the library and your mouth is as 'smart' as you seem to think it is already... or until I have decided that you truly have learned to 'eat your words'. Surrender your wand to me and then you may begin."

Helios Sunrider 04-11-2009 06:56 PM

Helios marched into the dungeon turned library with the rigid discipline of a soldier. The scars underneath his robes told the tale of a life filled with tough love and tougher punishment.

Books? He had to eat books? The Greek boy would have preferred physical torture. "Sir, I do not wish to play the role of the angsty teenager rebelling against an authority figure. I will admit that my outburst was uncalled for, but I cannot apologize for my beliefs. It is a soldiers, and a princes duty to protect those that cannot protect themselves. There was no attitude in his voice, no emotion. It was as if he were reading from a script.

"Sir.." Helios began again. This time though, he let some emotion leak through. "I respect you, your school, and your society. Living amongst the muggles, instead of finding an island and disappearing from the map, like Aeaea. I came here to learn. Not just from books." Unclasping his hands from behind his back, Helios held his arms out towards the assembled collection of books. "But from the people here as well."

With a flick of his wrist, the boys wand slid from sleeve to hand, and then hand to the professors hand. "That said; there is a life lesson waiting for me at the lake. Let's begin, shall we?"

Page one: blah blah blah blah blah blah munch munch munch munch munch munch

XanaSnape 04-11-2009 07:48 PM

His life lesson was waiting at the lake, was it? Oho, the boy was mistaken... His life lesson was waiting for him here. And he would learn it; Kazimeriz would see to that.

"I have no doubt of your title, Prince Sunrider, for you display all the arrogance of royalty. Basking in your own self-importance and pride, you neglect to realize that what you were doing was, in fact, not 'protecting' Miss Greenwood. She was quite safe in the lab situation and I assure you my competency in that arena trumps your own, as I have over 90 years of experience to your ...five." He wrinkled his nose and sneered at the word. "It is a high insult to my skills as a professor for you to think yourself worthy of stepping in to resolve a situation in my classroom, be it a verbal issue-- which as I recall you were guilty of earlier in the term -- or attempting to overstep your authority to 'save' someone else. Also, in 'saving' her, you deny her the opportunity to learn in a safe environment how to rescue herself. The audacity of your own self-importance and shortsightedness is astounding. A true prince should know better than to overstep his place, much less to act as a common thief, robbing the girl of life experience and wisdom. For shame."

He stared at the boy, his gaze harsh and disdainful. He lifted his wand and dropped a huge, heavy book on the desk. "Eat your words, Sunrider."

Helios Sunrider 04-11-2009 08:02 PM

"Ninety? But you look so young." Helios smiled as he slowly tore a page from the book. What a shame to devour literature in such a literal fashion.

munch munch munch munch munch

There went page two. "I know I am a bit rough around the edges, but I really am a good guy at heart." For every rude comment, there was a testimony to his good nature, no matter how far buried.

Rip. Eat. Repeat. One chapter in and he was already thirsty.

XanaSnape 04-11-2009 09:05 PM

Kazimeriz bristled at the false flattery. "I have over ninety years of experience in this field. I am much older than that, and both look and feel it. Flattery will not impress me, nor will it shorten your time here. You state that you are a 'good guy' at heart, yet your pompous behavior belies this, showing you to be a braggdocio at best, and certainly not possessing the grace and dignity of nobility." He watched Sunrider eat.

"You have an appointment at the lake, which you will assuredly miss due to your own boorish behavior and the resultant punishment. Surely a nobleman of your standing would not wish to let your lack of presence go unexplained." He eyed the boy.

Helios Sunrider 04-11-2009 09:36 PM

"She will wait for me." Who was he trying to fool? She had every right to not even show up. No matter how he acted during his lessons, it was his behavior with little miss Moon that he truely regretted. The professor who was punishing him also taught the boy to overcome his fears. His greatest fear was love, but he was ready to face it.

First ,it seemed, he needed to overcome his fear of manners.

"Sir, old and wise." munch munch munch "Perhaps." munch munch munch "If we got to know one another better." munch munch munch "We could find some common ground to stand on." Yuck.

"Have you ever been in love?" Asking bluntly, his eyes were on the professor as the Greek boy slowly ripped out a page about how to properly treat a lady on a date.

XanaSnape 04-12-2009 02:10 AM

"Your ego knows no bounds. You need to learn your place, Sunrider. This is a punishment, not the beginnings of peace talks between the international confederation of wizards. You are a student, not a peer or friend, and certainly it would be inappropriate of me to use this forum for a 'getting to know you' session." Kazimeriz glared at the boy. "And your presumption that a lady will wait for you because you are by-Merlin Prince Sunrider, master of all you survey, is both revolting and ungentlemanly of you."

He conjured a writing quill and parchment. "You will compose a letter to the lady that you will be standing up, informing her that you do indeed expect her to wait as you are nobility and she, therefore, is beneath you. You will further inform her as to why you are not present to begin with -- that you are missing your appointment because you found it more worth your time to strut about like a peacock and get into trouble than to show humility and grace so that you might keep your committment to her. You will inform her that you have no respect for anyone's time but your own, as you are a Prince and expect to be treated as one by all around you, and you apparently find it more enjoyable to be babysat by your professors than to see her."

Professor Kazimeriz conjured his armchair and sat down, watching the boy.

Helios Sunrider 04-12-2009 02:56 AM

Helios hung his head as the professors words sunk in. His hands were shaking as he took that torn out page, folded it, and slipped it within his robes. Blood at a boil, he wanted to impale the professor on his sharp tongue.

Sparing a glance towards the professor, defeat in his eyes, Helios took a quill and scrap of parchment. With a deep breath, he wrote:

Dear Krissy,

As I am sure Kayla did not wait to tell you, I am in detention for my big mouth. I am being told to write you this letter to inform you that I am selfish, disrespectful, rude, crass, and whatever other personality defect you can name. I do not see the point in telling you what you've known for years.

You deserve to be told something new. Something that nobody else knows. I love you. I wanted to say it in person, but I am locked away in a dungeon of my own design. My sins got me in, the virtues you imparted within my heart shall be my escape.

I do not expect, nor deserve for you to wait for me. I promise you though, when I am released, I will seek you out. Not as the boy who stole your heart, but as a man that deserves your love.

Eternally yours,

Helios

"H-here..Please see she receives this." Handing over the parchment, the young Hufflepuff sunk back into his rigid seat. He never felt so small.

XanaSnape 04-12-2009 10:05 AM

Kazimeriz reviewed the letter, and then set it on fire. It burned to a crisp, leaving only ashes.

"That is not the letter you were instructed to write. You are not to write a love letter. You are to write a letter detailing exactly what I told you and nothing more." He conjured a new sheet of parchment. "Begin again."

Helios Sunrider 04-12-2009 02:45 PM

Those blue eyes went wide as he watched his heartfelt letter burn before him. It had taken all his nerve to put those words to paper, and to see them go up in flames was heartbreaking. "..forgive me.." Helios whispered to the parchment before writing.

Dear Krissy,

I was originally writing this letter to announce my love for you, but I realized something: I don't love you, I can't love you. If there was such a thing as love in my heart, I would share it with no one.

I will not be meeting you at the lake today, or ever. You have been waiting for me for five years, it is about time you quit wasting your feelings on me, before another five years pass by.

I am a prince that will soon be a king. I will command the worlds greatest army, so what need do I have for you or delusions of love? Writing this letter is beneath one such as I.

If it is not already obvious by my prefrence to spending my time in a dungeon as opposed to being with you, I'll spell it out for you: You are wasting your time with me. This self assured arrogance is who I am. It is obvious that any tenderness I showed towards you was either an illusion or a lie.

I repeat. STAY. AWAY. FROM. ME.

"I believe you will find this much more truthful. I must say; it is a relief to actually put those words to paper." Handing over the parchment to the professor, the boy did his best immitation of a smile.

XanaSnape 04-12-2009 04:20 PM

Kazimeriz read the letter full of obvious lies and all about the boy's love or lack thereof. "Again, not what you were instructed to compose." Another letter, up in flames. Another parchment was conjured. "Begin again."

Helios Sunrider 04-12-2009 06:23 PM

Dear Krissy,

I am writing to inform you that I will not be making it to the lake to visit you before I go you-know-where for the summer. I know you are patiently waiting for me, not out of arrogance or entitlement, but because you believe that I can change. That there is good in me somewhere. The DADA professor does not see in me what you do. In his eyes, I am just another beast crawling out the forest.

As I write this letter, I want to shout in his face and tell him that I'm not just some arrogant prince. But what if he's right? Have I learned nothing at this school? I feel like a whipped dog in here. This must be what it's like to be humbled..

This is my admission of guilt. I have been insufferable to you and all. I would like to offer an apology. Hopefully my word will still have some value. I do not ask for you to believe me, only that you give me the chance to prove myself.

There is more to say, but I'll save it for later.

See you soon,

Helios'

One hand behind his back, the other presenting the letter, Helios was practically beaming. The letters went from optimism to pessism, but hoped the third would hit reality. "Sir." He would let the letter speak for him.

XanaSnape 04-13-2009 12:56 PM

"'This must be what it is like to be humbled?'" He quoted the letter as he read, smirking with amusement. Oh, the egotism dripped from the boy's veins! "Still inadequate. Begin again and follow directions." He burned the letter and gave him a fresh stack of parchment. Because apparently the boy would not get this quickly. "I shall return. When I do, see to it that you have written the letter I require of you, and no other. You would do well to spend some time in quiet contemplation before you begin... and consider the lesson you must learn. Your arrogance and self-important attitude must be curbed. You are not a special little snowflake; you are not better nor worse than any other student of this school, and it is time you learned your place. A boy who will become a king must first become a man, and to do this you must learn that your worth is no greater nor less than the lowest servant..." A thought occurred to him, and he smiled a wicked smile. "Finish that letter. I shall return momentarily." He exited the dungeon, leaving Helios alone with his thoughts.

Helios Sunrider 04-13-2009 06:58 PM

As soon as the professor was out of earshot, that rigid chair went flying across the dungeon. Not by magic, but by rage. That last letter was perfect! He had tried so hard to convey that he did not feel he was above anyone, that maybe he was actually below them. Maybe this outburst further proved he was only an animal.

The first letter he tried to compose while standing over the desk turned into a illegible mess. Balling up the parchment, he bounced it off the wall near the discarded chair.

The professor wasn't trying to teach him a lesson, he wanted to humiliate the boy and drive away the only person that made the mistake of caring about him.

Dear Krissy,

He began like he did several times before, deep breaths trying to calm him down.

I will not be joining you at the lake this evening. I'm sure you already know why, but I am going to tell you anyways. I am a self centered, aristocratic, brutish, animal of a man. I can barely control my outbursts. My eagerness to shout is beyond my capacity to listen.

To be honest, I did believe that my royal lineage deserved special treatment. It seems though that the opposite is true. Claiming to be a prince only means that I have I try harder to prove myself.

I am being told to tell you that I believe my time is too important for you. That is simply not true, and I will refuse to lie to you. Even someone as careless as myself can see that.

I don't want to be the monster everyone makes me out to be. I don't want to be a prince anymore. I just want to be normal like everyone else.

Leaving the letter on the desk, Helios slumped down in a heap next to the chair. Shoulders drooping, and head hanging, the boy put a book in his lap. Cracking the tome open, he may not learn to write a letter to Kaz's standards, but at least he might learn a thing or two about etiquette.

XanaSnape 04-14-2009 05:04 AM

Professor Kazimeriz returned to the dungeon. He noted the overturned chair and picked up the letter, reading it. "Very good; you are making strides in the right direction, Sunrider. As the term is drawing to a close, I will release you from detention, but with a caveat. Next term, you will come to see me at the start of term- just after the feast. I have arranged a special educational opportunity for you, young Prince. Fail to do that and you will spend more time in these dungeons in your final time at this school than you can possibly imagine." He smirked. "I will see your letter delivered to your friend before you are released. In the interim, please organize the books according to topic, taking time to peruse each one." Kazimeriz smirked and left the room.

Helios Sunrider 04-14-2009 10:20 AM

"Yes, sir. Thank you, sir." Helios nodded, and bowed to the professor, making sure not to stand upright until Kaz was out of the room.

When he finally did raise back up to his feet, the young prince grinned. "Arrogant old fool. If he wants respect, he should try showing some." Reading and organizing the books wasn't punishment at all. Despite his harsh exterior, the Greek devoured any literature he could get his hands on.

The next hour or so went by uneventful, carefully putting the books in order while cursing the professor under his breath. Though he would be loath to admit it, but his anger did not stem from his punishment; it was because Kazimeriz enjoyed it so much. The one professor he looked up to, looked down on him with utter disdain.
