Set sat down and began, "I came today, to ask your premission to start a Hoqwartz chapter of the S.P.E.W. I feel it is imperative to elf rights. I would really appreciate it and be willing to put forth many hours of effort toward this extremly important cause!" |
ooc: I've spoken with the CoMC professor and she says that her character never agreed to be an adult supervisor (and neither did she, ooc). Please edit your post accordingly. It is NOT okay to RP for another person (including students, professors and Ministry of Magic personnel), especially when you're going against what they've told you. I'll respond once that's corrected. :) |

"Well, I hardly think that necessary what with all Hermione Weasley has done to improve upon the working conditions of house elves during her tenure with the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. The house elves here at Hogwarts have always been treated better than most and they quite enjoy their work and what new benefits Mrs. Weasley was able to persuade them to accept," he smiled kindly at the boy. |
"Yes, the house elves here are treated well, but what about elves in other places, in worse condotions. S.P.E.W. works for eqaulity EVERYWHERE and we need to continue the early leaders noble work, as to spread it all over the world! And even thought back in the 20th century, the muggle African-Americans got thier rights, groups like the NAACP, still stayed around to make sure that those rights continued to be upheld. I feel an S.P.E.W. would be very benifical to the cause for equality worldwide." Set said. He really wanted to start an S.P.E.W. because he felt that the S.P.E.W would need to be around until the cause spread worldwide, and even after that. |
"Well, I find your intentions admirable, but I think what might be a better course of action would be to speak with your head of house about what would be required to join the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. In a couple years you'll definitely want to take Care of Magical Creatures and then you'll be in a better position to advocate for elvish rights," he smiled kindly and then checked his watch. He needed to get going soon or he'd miss his next class. |
"Are you opposed to S.P.E.W for some reason?" Set asked. This was something was reaady to work hard for! |
"Not necessarily opposed to SPEW, but I think you have a ways to go and a better place to start would be with the Ministry. Mrs. Weasley really has revolutionized the elvish rights movement and their condition everywhere has improved. It might be better to focus on your studies for now," he smiled and fished around in his desk for a key. |
He didn't want to pull out the rule book, but, "You do no that you cannot by law stop a club from forming indefinitly, you can only delay it, or we could just hold it unoffically! The law is in our favor!" Set said. |
"I never said you couldn't have your own little club, I merely said the school wouldn't sanction it. Now, I'm terribly sorry but I'm in a bit of a rush," he added, pocketing the key and shutting the drawer. He stood up and expected the student to do the same. He held out his arm to usher the kid out the door with him. "Now, get to class and if you have any other issues with this, please bring them to your head of house." |
