*Gabben raised an eye brow at Kyle and gave him the you-better-tell-me-later look. He then smiled and held a hand out to the girls Kyle was talking too.*
"Hello I'm Gabben, shall we all go eat? My cousin just gave me a telling off and that always makes me hungry."
*He then walked down the table dragging Kyle with him and sat down.*

Christine just stood there listening to Cam and Kyle talk. Christine had about five different emotions running through her at the moment. Christine just looked down and shook her head. She started to walk about towards her house table, wishing the feast would be over by the time she got there.

Kyle was shocked. He couldnt believe what Cam had just said. He let Gabben drag him to the table and set down beside him. He gave him a help me look and then looked back to see if Cam and Christine were follwoing them

Seeing Christine walked away he got up from the table and told Cam hed be right back. He put a hand on Christines shoulder and turned her aroudn to face him. "Hey look.. Im really sorry. I had no idea that you liked me. Its just that.. well I ..I think of us as best friends. Come back over to the table. Please." he said looking into her eyes. If anything maybe Gabben could cheer her up. He was one of those guys that just put a smile on your face.

*Gabben laughed at his face and started putting food on his plate.*
"Girl trouble I see. It looks like I can't leave you alone with out something happening."
*He saw Kyle get up and frowned then pointed to Kyles plate and yelled.*
"Your mum would kill me if she knew I let you go with out a meal."

Christine opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out and she just shook her head. She just wanted to be alone. I'm sorry she said shaking her head and walking away.

Cam heaved a sigh as she watched Christine walk off. Wonderful. Alienating one of your few friends. You'll be quite a hit. Cam told herself irritably. She turned to see Kyle and Gabben returning to the table. Well, either she could go back and sit with the Slytherins--she cringed at the thought--or she could go back to the table, suck it up, and finish eating her potatoes. The decision wasn't hard to make. Cam sucked in a deep breath then moved back towards her plate of mashed potatoes.

She perched herself on the bench across from Kyle without meeting his gaze, and picked her fork back up. She jumped when Kyle said he'd be back. Cam nodded then looked over to his friend, who began to call after him about eating. Cam cracked a smile at that, and met the boy's eyes.

"Hey. I'm Cambri." She introduced herself, then shoveled in a bite of the mashed potatoes. Her stomach was completely empty...or just filled with the insubstantial stuff she'd downed the night before. Her stomach rumbled once more in protest.

*He laughed at hearing her stomach.* "Ha well I'm Gabben and maybe I should be telling you to eat."
*He then laughed at himself.*
"I sound like everyones bloody mum around here. Anyway I can see your a Slytherin but what year are you?"

Talk about feeling horrible.. Kyle felt like he was loosing his best friend. In a way he knew he was. He nodded and headed back to Gabben. He plopped down not worrying about the fod and pt his head on the table. "I think I just lost my other best friend" he muttered peekin at Gabben who looked as if he had no worry in the world.

*Gabben only shrugged.* "From what I hear you told her the truth. Now you've just got to wait. Give it time you know."

Kyle lifted his head and noddedmat what Gabben had said he tried moving Christine from his head at the moment and smiled. HE might as well try to be tolerable to be around. He looked at Chrisitne. "You ok?" he asked peering at her. He felt bad for snapping at her. "Im sorry for snappin at you."

"Yeah, sounds like a plan," Cale said with a smile, chuckling as he watched her put away her quill. "Just don't go carving any hearts in there yet...otherwise everyone will think you fancy Paul Kutcher," he added with a wink.

He took another bite of his food and chewed it thoughtfully. "Hey, do you think once I graduate, I should try and learn to drive a muggle car? You know, just in case the need ever arises," he said, quite out of the blue, as he took a drink to wash down his food. "My mum would probably kill me if I said I was gonna do that though...I mean, well, you know how she is," he rambled.

"Well then mum will be glad that your here to make sure I take care of myself." She responded politely, and smiled at Gabben. After her outburst Cam felt like she owed it to Kyle to be nice. She'd already started problems between him and Christine. No need to be a brat to Gabben too. "I'm a fourth year. But I just transferred to Hogwarts. I live in Mississippi, and recently got kicked out of my school there." She explained.

"You didn't lose your best friend Kyle. She's just mad at me. Can't say I blame her. She'll come around. I'm sure of it." She told Kyle in a low voice. But that set it in stone for her. It didn't matter if Kyle had a crush on her. If Christine was his best friend then she was the one he'd end up with. It didn't matter how long it took. People always wound up getting together with their best friend. Anyone else was just a pit stop. "I'm fine, and it's alright. I just need to get food in my system, and sleep. It's been a long two days." She shook her head and sighed before eating another bite of her potatoes.

*Gabben kept eatting and patted Kyle on the back and pointed to Cambri. With his mouth full he said-*
"Why they kick you out? Turn a teachers wig into a rabit or somethin?"

Kyle laughed. "Yeah hopefully we'll be ok soon." he said looking back over at Christine just to make sure she was ok. Turnig to Cam he furrowed his eyebrows then decided to play around with it a bit. He needed to lift her spirits. She seemed out of it. "So.. you like me too huh?" he asked cocking an eyebrow. "Or am I alone with my crush?" he asked smirking. If he was then it was truely ok. He'd live with it. There were other fish in the sea and Cam was ust one girl. There were other fish in the sea.

"If only I knew where to start. The final straw was my cheating to get half the Quidditch team to play in the championship game." She stated with a smile. That only changed things the littlest bit. There was a lot more to her getting kicked out, Cam just wasn't quite ready to go there yet. Still, Gabben could hardly expect her to explain her three years of delinquency in one sitting. It was the only excuse she had, and she wouldn't let it go.

"Hm?" Cam lifted a roll to her mouth and tore half of it away with her teeth when she heard Kyle's question. She stared innocently at him, shrugged her shoulders, then gestured from the food to her mouth and shrugged again. Translation: Sorry. Mouth full. No talking!

Kyle laughed shaking his head na dleaned back crossing his arms at Cam. He would just wait til her mouth was not full anymore. He cocked an eyebrow but listened to her and Gabben talk. He looked at Gabben deciding to give his undivided attention to him instead of Cam. Maybe it would thaw her out.

*Gabben laughed.* "I'd take that as a no mate."
*He then pointed out a prefect a few seats away to Kyle. A long white stripe ran down the prefect boys back.*
"Got to show some badger pride somehow right? His girlfriend called him a skunk. Ha and he didn't get it." *He then pointed his wand at the prefect and the white stripe faded away.*

Cam really did like Kyle. He was a great guy, and she could already tell that they had chemistry. But his best friend was a girl, even if that friend was mad at him at the moment. Christine was what she was, and Cam refused to compete with that, even if no one was asking her to (not directly at least). Furthermore, it wouldn't work. She could never tell him everything. If Kyle found out what she was he'd go running the opposite direction. They all did. Cam simply refused to go there. She'd just have to try and keep being friends.

"Course I like you. How can a girl not like a guy who does such wonderful macho-impressions?" She responded playfully, and grinned at him once she'd swallowed her half of a roll. Apparently her manners extended to being unwilling to eat like a heathen. Cam had considered shoving more in...but she needed to face this. She couldn't ignore it. Kyle was her friend. you had to face up to that.

Kyle looked to where Gabben had pointed and almost busted out laughing. Hesucked in soe air adn bit his bottom lip keeping his head away from the prefect. looking at Gabben he put his hand up for a high five and ended up laughn. "Good one."

He nodded at Cam. "Its ok. Really." he replied laughing. "I mean I can get over you so dont worry about me pestering you about it." he said light heartedly.

He couldnt help but feel like causing some mayhem at the moment. Anything to get away from his feelings. He looked at Gabben a twinkle in his eyes. "Feel like doig something?... Dangerous?" he asked. "Or at least cause some trouble? Imbored"

*Gabben gave him the high-five and then went back to eatting. He then watched as Cam and Kyle talked feeling a little out of place. He then heard what Kyle said to Cambri and rolled his eyes. Nice one Kyle, she's sure to go for you now. Then his famous smirk came to his face.*

"What did you have in mind?"

"Your not pestering me. It's fine I just--" --want to tell you. Cam yawned, then pushed her plate aside and let her head go rest atop the table. What a long day it had been. Maybe she'd feel more like herself after some sleep. One could only hope. Cam thought absently. Her curly brown hair spilled down around her face. In any other situation she'd have teased Kyle. To him that getting into trouble was a great release for boredom...or even helped them. But as it were she as too worn out to move at all.

Heidi walked into the Great Hall and looked around the Gryffindor table for some of her friends. She didn't see any of them, so she squared her shoulders and decided that she needed to make new friends. She walked up to some people already eating and said, "Hello, I'm Heidi Sparks. May I join you?"

Kyle laughed at Cam. She was pooped and he played with her hair absentmindedly. He looked back at Gabben. "What you got in mind. " he peered around at a first year that was sitting a few feet from him. His brain ticked and he knew what he wanted to do. Stepping over to him he sat down and changed his eyes to a dark red and his hair to a dark green. The poor boy gave one look at him and ran off screaming. He laughed and changed it back while heading back to the table.

*Gabben fell off the bench laughing.* "Haha bloody 'ell mate you've just givin that first year nightmares."
*Gabben then sat up and pointed after the first year. An odd look of a light going off in his head came to Gabbens face.*

"I can use that hair changer spell on him and he'll wake up with red hair thinking he turned into a monster like you!"

When she felt hands in her hair Cam turned towards Kyle, watching him through a veil of brown curls as he played with some of the locks of her hair. She continued to watch as he turned his hair green, eyes red, and scared the whits out of some first year. Her eyebrows furrowed sleepily, and she swatted his arm. Her blow wasn't hard enough to actually hurt. Cam was half asleep, and didn't manage to put any real strength into it.

"That's mean." She informed him through another yawn. That's when she remembered. Cam looked up at Kyle once more as she remembered a former train of thought. "So the hair...is it like some magical mood ring sort of thing?" She inquired. He'd mentioned that his hair changed colors of it's own accord, perhaps there was something behind that.
