Kevin smiled and said "Hey Rose how are you?

"Moving staircases! Wow! My dad didn't tell me about those! That's got to be exciting. You're just walking up some stairs like a normal person, when all of a sudden, the stairs move! Cool!" James exclaimed. That was going to be fun. He couldn't wait to go to the stairs. He almost felt like running out of the Great Hall and finding some stairs now, but he restrained himself.

"Oh, hello, I'm James. James Henry Stapleton, first year. Are you a first year too?" James asked the boy he thought was called Kevin.

"Oh, no, I always said my cat ate it. That always threw the teachers off guard! Yes, maybe my bed is a black hole.... Well, if it's just my bed, then hopefully the bed here won't take my homework. Yes, I'll be able to find it now!" James said, happy to have figured out the "problem." He usually managed to get his homework somehow, but occasionally he had to do it again.

Kevin smiled at James and said "Yes i am a first year too James, Kevin McKay it is a pleasure to meet you James"

"Nice to meet you, too, Kevin. Are you a Gryffindor, too? There seems to be a lot of first years!" James said to Kevin. Kevin seemed really nice, he hoped they would become good friends.

Ashton giggled at James' enthusiasm towards the moving staircases. "Well, sure they're fun....except for when you're running late to a class and suddenly your stairs move and you're on a totally wrong hall and then it makes you even later to class." She said with a smile.

Her stomach gave a small rumble and she patted it. Guess you're hungry. Ashton reached forward and grabbed some of whatever was closest to her, (pumpkin pie) and she began eating while watching all the first years around her talk.

"Its nothing really," Adrianna said brightly. "I barely knew him, so its always been with my mom... I haven't really known anything else," she added with a shrug. She listened as Ashton told her about the staircases and her eyes widened. "Move? Like escalators? Or like... the entire thing moves?" she asked.

"Me too..." she said softly. She looked up again as Kevin continued. "No! Of course not!" she said, moving over so the boy could join them.

Adrianna couldn't believe it. Moving staircases. She was curious about them, but a little skeptical as well. "Nice! I never thought of that... granted, I usually had my homework!" she said with a laugh. She continued to giggle as James went on about his bed and the blackhole beneath it. "Sounds like you need some organizational skills... or a paperweight!" she said with a laugh.

Kevin smiled at James and said "I am actually a slytherin James but i don't believe in any of that house rivarly because i already have some nice gryffindor friends"

Kevin sat down beside Adrianna and said "So how does it feel to be inside Hogwarts now Adrianna"

Ashton smiled at the mention of escalators, she had had some pretty unique experiences with those muggle things in the muggle shopping centers called 'malls'. "The whole thing moves, believe it or not," she told Adrianna with a smile.

Sneeze went to the Gryffindor table and was happy once again. He was now a third year and was so ready for another year at Hogwarts. He grabbed a bit of food and inhaled it.

"Oh, true. I hadn't thought about that," James said, scrunching up his face in thought. He sat for a moment, trying to figure out how to get out of that. "Well, I guess I'll just have to leave extra early for my classes, then. I can just leave some room for something like that to happen."

"Organizational skills? Pshht!" James said, pretending to push the idea away. "I don't need organizational skills. I just need... um. Well, I guess I do need some organizational skills."

"Oh, don't worry, I may be in Gryffindor, but I'm not biased. My dad said he had friends in lots of houses, and not to judge anybody based on their house. I'm sure I'll have friends from every house!" James said to Kevin. To be honest, though, he didn't seem like the typical Slytherin. But that just showed how biased people could be, if they thought that all Slytherins were mean.

Suddenly, a pale, transparent, floating man appeared through one of the walls and stopped over the Gryffindor table, "Well,well, its been years since I've seen this place, but I must say you all look like a wonderful crop of Gryffindors. Gryffindor for the cup!" At his last words he thrust his fist into the air, yelling the last four words and suddenly his head flopped off to one side. "Oh bother."

Ashton nodded in agreement with James. He seemed a smart kid. "Hmm, I wish I would have thought of that...." She mumbled as she remembered her very first class in which she was late. She took a drink of her juice and finished off her pie with a grin.

Ashtons eyes widened at the sudden appearance of the ghost. Sure, she'd seen them around, but he'd caught her by surprise. Plus, his head was half off! "Um....hello," she mumbled to him shyly.

"Well, to be honest? Slightly intimidating," she said with a slight grin. "I mean... there's so much! And... Agh!" she jumped as a ghost accidently brushed her back. Her eyes opened wide as she watched it. "MAybe I should have stayed home..." she said, glumly.

"Wow... that's has got to be crazy looking," she said, her eyes wide. "And to think, when I was little, I was scared of escalators," she said, shaking her head. This was all beginning to be too much Luckily, her friends seemed to know what they were talking about, so if she just stuck with them, she would be okay. There were just two things missing: her owl.. and the boy she had met in Diagon Alley.

Kevin smiled at Adrianna and said "Aww i am sure you will get to love it seeing as you will be calling it home for the next few years"

Completly lost in his thought, Fred fell backward on his back when he felt something pass near him. This was nothing he had ever experience before and he stop breathing when he noticed that it was a ghost who had done it.

Litterally unable to move or breath, his eyes was focus on the ghost as his head flopped off on the side. It only took a second for Fred faces to become absolutely white. Uneasy feeling were storming in his stomach.

Cale, just having taken a bite of steak, starting coughing as the ghost came out of nowhere and scared the living daylights out of him. He had only seen a ghost in this castle once, right before he got sorted--he had walked through him too, and that was enough to make ANYONE freaked out by them.

As he swallowed his food, he remembered that each of the houses had ghosts, and judging by the way this poor fellow was almost losing his head, this HAD to be there's...what was his name again? Emma had told him once and he had completely forgotten.

"Erm...right! Gryffies for the cup!" he said, not knowing anything ELSE to say, as he held his fist in the air, just as the ghost did.

Nathaniel smiled as he read the note. ["Nice to meet you! I'm a 2nd year. Yes, people call me Nate. You're more than welcome to do so as well." he wrote in his unique handwriting."How are you liking Hogawarts?" he continued. He slid the paper back over to Sylvan

Allie looked up and her eyes widened as she saw a transparent, floating man. What was that a ghost? But she had never seen a ghost at Hogwarts before..
She let out a little scream, which sounded more like a squeak, when she saw th mans head practically fall off.
"What happened to your head?" she asked curiously.

Adrianna groaned inwardly. There was so much to remember... She laughed as James admitted his need for organization. "I can help you with that, if need be!" she offered, smiling. "It happens to be something that I am familiar with!" she said, laughing.

Hannah Leigh ran to the Griffindor table after alerting the Slythereins, this needed everybody who was able's help.
"Please-there's this first year-he fainted and he has a fork up his nose, please help," she pleaded loudly.

Anna blinked and jumped back a bit upon noticing the sudden appearance of the Gryffindor house ghost. She stared at the ghost in disbelief for just a moment, trying to remind herself over and over that this sort of thing was probably typical in the magical world she existed in. Anna took a few deep breaths and then picked up a roll she'd knocked to the floor when she'd jumped back a few seconds ago. Anna giggled when the ghost starting cheering on Gryffindor to win the house cup. Her giggles stopped, though, when Nick's head popped halfway off, showcasing the inside of his throat. Ewwww. "I'd help you, but I don't think my body's capable of putting your body back together again," she said. "How've you been, though?"

Hannah smiled at Kyle teasing her brother. "Nice to meet you, too." she said. "I'm not sure how Zeke managed this, none of the Muggle girls at home even notice him," she joked as she watched her brother's ears turn pink.

"You, too," Hannah said with a smile.

"Gryffindor is great," Hannah said with a nod. "You're going to love this house!"

Hannah saw Demetria run over screaming. She'd missed her. "Hey, Dem," Hannah said with a wave.

"Oh, yeah," Hannah said. "I've heard of Paris, never met her though," Hannah said with a smile. "I heard she caused some trouble in Diagon Alley, but I wasn't there."

HOLY! Hannah thought to herself, her eyes widening. A ghost with a flopping head just popped out of nowhere. Who the heck IS this guy? She thought. She vaguely remembered reading something about all the houses having their own ghost, but they hadn't shown up her entire time at Hogwarts. What was his name? Hmm... It felt like it was... Norman or something like that. She didn't want to chance calling him the wrong name on accident, so she just cheered along with Cale.

Hannah looked over at Cale's reaction. From the look on his face, the same thoughts were going through his head as were hers. She smiled.

Groping around in the air for a moment, Nick grabbed his head and swung it back so that it rested in the folds of his ruffled collar, "Sir Nicholas de Mimsy Porpington at your service m'dear. This," he continued pointing to his head, "Is what happens when you are hit forty-five times in the neck with a blunt axe." Shaking his head, which bobbled dargerously, he muttered, "Confounded executioner."

Zeke jumped in surprise as a ghost popped out of the wall. His eyes widened. "Err, hello..." he said to the ghost. He'd heard about the houses each having a ghost, but he didn't know they were going to pop out of the wall like that. "Er, right, GRYFFIES FOR THE CUP!" He didn't know what else to say, so he hoped that was sufficient.

"Please, help!" No one was paying attention and Hannah sighed. "This is an emergency!" she paused. "Someone could be seriously injured!"
