Front Desk A polished oak desk, located behind the study tables, sits in the center of the library. A few low shelves contain books that have been returned or books that are on hold. Behind that desk, sitting upon a stool, is the librarian, her head bent over a few rolls of parchment or a book. As you approach, Madame Kohan looks up and greets you with a warm, friendly smile. “Good day. How may I help you?” She is eager to assist anyone; whether it be retrieving a particular book, giving recommendations, or perhaps even sharing a story or two with a student or colleague. |
Set walked up to the front desk and asked the librarian, "Sorry, it's my first day here. Do you have any books on helga Hufflepuffs uncle, Polarius. I'm not sure, but I think I may be related." |
Rian entered the library, a huge smile on her face. Not only was she happy to be in the library, and too see Madame Kohan again, but she was excited to see if there would actually be a book here about the topic she wanted. She waited patiently behind another girl, a first year by the sound of it. When it was her turn at the counter, Rian smiled at the Librarian. "Hi, Madame Kohan," she said cheerfully. "I'm back." she said, holding up her arms. "I have a question...do you have any books on Merlin?" she paused, thinking about how stupid she was going to sound. "I wanted to know if he had all ten toes..." she trailed off and let her odd question hang in the air. |

She had to laugh at this. "Well, that's interesting indeed. I'm not sure if you could find that information, but it doesn't hurt to try, I suppose. You should find the books on the second floor under the M's or under Famous Wizards through the Ages." |

"Well, you see...I was in an interesting conversation with a few other Ravenclaws...and I just wanted to know if they were joking, or, well, not." she shrugged to show it was no big deal if there were no books on that particular subject. She nodded slowly as she put the instructions in her memory. "Hmm, I guess I'll check, then," she laughed. |

As Rian spoke of the reason for her question, Madame Kohan smiled again. "Well, I suppose I would be interested in such as well. Do let me know what you find out." Quote:

Livvy walked into the library. Aww... she sure loved the smell of books. She walked towards the front desk with a large smile. "Hello Madame Kohan," she said. "How were your holidays?" Livvy asked, politely. Manners, manners, Livvy. "I'm looking for a good book to read. Any suggestions?" Livvy asked, knowing full well that Madame Kohan was always happy to give out suggestions. Sweet lady she was. |

She laughed and nodded again. "Okay, I'll be sure to." she promised. She offered a 'Thank you' to the librarian and turned around murmuring "Famous Wizards Through the Ages" and "Second floor...M" over and over. |
Set walked up to the front desk. He asked the librarian "I went down and looked and found a note in the book that said to look in another book called 'A Study of the Early Life of Great Witches and Wizards'. Where would I find that book?" |
Carry his new found book, Vined Plants Most Vicious, Ludo made his way to the front counter. There a familiar face stood smiling. With a grin Ludo set his book on the counter. "Hello Madame Kohan! Great to see you!" |
Christine walked up to the front desk of the library a little nervous. She had made the decision to try and figure out what was going on with herself. She cleared her throat. Hello Madame Kohan, how are you doing today? She asked then starting to chew her lower lip. She didn't know what exactly she was looking for, but she hoped Madame Kohan would be able to help her. I need your help. I'm looking for a book that has information about peoples inability to control their magic, or something discussing how extreme emotions can effect a persons magical powers but I dont know exactly where to look. |
Sasori walked up to the front desk and asked the librarian "I'm sorry to trouble you, but do you have any books on Muggle ailments?" |

"You're very welcome." With that said, she turned to the next student. Quote:

With a tap of her quill, she signed out the book and handed it back to the Ravenclaw. "Is Herbology one of your favorite subjects?" Quote:
At Christine's request, Madame Kohan frowned slightly as she pondered over possible subject matter that could pertain to what the Hufflepuff was looking for. "Well, dear, I can try to do a bit of research for you in regards to inability to control magic but I believe we have at least one book discussing the subject of emotions and magic. Its title is A Psychological Look into Magic. You can find it on the second floor, middle set of bookshelves." Quote:
She handed the young Slytherin the book titled All You Ever Wanted to Know about Muggle Ailments and Treatment. |
Jim walked into the library and walked up to the front desk."Hello, can you tell me where I can find Curses,Hexes Jinxes Oh My?" |

He took the book back. "Thank you. Have it back in two weeks, correct?" Ludo looked around the library from his position at the front desk. "And let me add that if you ever need some student volunteer work done around here, I'd like to be the first to know." He smiled, unsure how to describe the feeling this room gave him...like being at home. |
Jenn skipped in the library, happily singing,"Books, Glorious books!". Finally reaching the front desk, she grinned up at Madame Kohan. "Hello! You wouldn't happen to have some books on Merlin, would you?"she asked, grinning impishly at her. |

Hannah Leigh walked up to the desk. "Hello Madame Kohan." she smiled. "Do you have any books on the Salem Witches? Like the burnings," of course the Librarian would know. |

At Ludo's offer to be a volunteer for work around the library, Madame Kohan took his words with a nod and a smile. She was sure that he was feeling the pinch of the house point crisis at the moment. All houses in the negatives before classes truly began! "I'll keep that in mind, Ludo. Thank you." Quote:

Ludo headed for the doors and exited the library, content. |
Rian felt sort of disappointed with herself when she stepped back into the line at the front desk. She hadn't found a book on if Merlin had every toe, and that was a bit disappointing. But she had made up for the lack of information on that subject for finding a book that might actually help her with her school work. Maybe. When it was once again her turn at the counter, Rian hefted Charm Your Own Cheese, by Greta Catchlove onto the counter. "Can I check this out, please?" she asked, standing on her toes. |
"Thank you." Hannah nodded, and, with a smile, left the front desk. She glanced around at the other people and looked down. Had they seen her surveying them? |
Amelia pull Amanda up to the front desk. Honestly, afraid of the librarian? There are things to be afraid of here, but its certainly not her. Amelia smiled, and said "Hello, my friend here and I found our books. Could we check them out now please? I think we do it here..." |
