Lima noticed the look that Shana gave her, but didn't pay any attention to it. She had no idea how things would go over here yet. And she wasn't scared of a First Year anyway.
Besides, seeing Jake again made her suddenly worry about how he was doing now. "How are you, Jake?" she asked him trying not to show too much concern. If he was fine now, she didn't want to seem like she was babying him.

"I'm..." Jake looked up at Lima. "How are you?" he ended up asking, totally ducking the question. Lima was so motherly to him, and he thought that if he told her about how he was doing she might worry. Truth be told, he was totally despondant right now.
"What are you two up to, then?" Jake asked, his gaze going between Lima and Shana. What was up with Shana, she was acting all shy, like, and looking at her feet. Jake stared down at her feet too, trying to find the big attraction.

But she had no idea if Shana knew. "I'm fine. And me and Shana were just having an interesting conversation." She cast a glance at the Slyterin who was still boring a hle into her shoes with her eyes.

She bent down and tied her shoe laces. Why are they looking at me weird ? I like looking at my shoes there interesting.She got back up and looked at Lima and smiled and looked at Jake and smiled.She looked back down at her feet for a fourth time and did the oppisite shoe lace.

Keeping his feet planted firmly in the same position, Jake swung his body and head to face the left, then the right, then the left... over and over again. It was a kind of rocking, swinging motion that never failed him when calming down in a situation where he couldn't sit and rock back and forth. "Anything I'd be interested in?" Jake asked them, curiously.
Wow, girls act sooooooo weirdly, Jake thought to himself. Why the secrecy? I wouldn't tell no-one...

"Oh, erm-" Jake started, looking curiously up at Lima. He was about to say something when a totally negative reaction errupted from Shana, making Jake go wide-eyed. By the time she had gone, Jake was worried.
"What's that mean?" he asked Lima urgently. "A crush? Is it bad? She wants to crush me... hurt me? Lima, what is it?"
Breeeeeeeeeeathe... breeeeeeeeeeathe...
Jake looked around the corridor, half expecting some massive boulder to roll down and crush him to pieces. Absentmindedly, Jake stepped back and pressed himself to the wall.

Boring his toes of his right shoe into the ground, Jake kept thinking and thinking, but it was no good. He needed real answers.
"I just don't get whyyyyyyy..." Jake blurted out. "Why do girls like boys and have boyfriends and stuff..." He'd never liked anyone... only since coming to Hogwarts had he made real friends, but still... he never 'fancied' anyone. "It's just not normal..."

Thinking for a moment, Jake thought back. "I don't recall being taught anything else... just the basics and what I taught myself. It's hard to remember," Jake trailed off, not wishing to talk about things he wasn't knowledgeable about.
Shaking his head slowly, Jake explained. "Love is just stuff in fairy stories," he said. "I can't remember ever feeling it, or seeing it or something. It's something like..." Jake scrambled in his head for something that still wasn't real in the magical world. "... bringing the dead back to life. Not true, can't happen."

Lima listened to him with a frown on her face. Poor boy, he really had no idea. "Well, Jake... Love DOES exist. And generally girls have boyfriends if they feel love for them. And the boyfriends love the girls back. They are their girlfriends." OMG she felt so patronizing.

Okay, she was officially his mother now. Closing his eyes and shaking his head, Jake covered his ears. "No, no, NO!" he raised his voice on the last word. "Not true! Liiiiieeeessssss... Love is not real!" Why couldn't she see that. Jake had spent so long working it out and his theory seemed most plausible. PeopleareweirdpeopleareweirdpeopleareWEIRD!
Finally fitting the pieces together, Jake looked up with dawning realisation. "But... no-one loves me."
