Divination: The Tarot Kapoor opened up the door to the Divination class and took a seat over near his desk to prepare for a review class on a particular sort of cartomancy. "Welcome students. Please have a seat and class will begin shortly." |
Cedric was making his way to divination's classroom..as he reached the classroom..he saw Professor Kapoor..... "Hello!Professor......How's your day?"Cedric greets and then he sit in the front of the classroom |
Granted, Divination was not exactly one of Willow's strongest subjects, nor was she particularly interested on changing this, but that didn't mean she would just stop attending. "Hello, Professor. Having a good day, I hope?" Greeted the girl with a smile, as she claimed around the back of the classroom. She certainly was having a good one; in fact, now that she thought about it, Willow had to admit that her mood could not get any better. Huh. |
Despite Kapoor making him read the silly sonnet thing in the presence of Lyra and Cel-an-dine, whom thankfully he'd not seen either one since, Dominic trudged up to the Divination tower nonetheless for the lesson. Upon entering, his eyes instantly wandered around the classroom to note who had arrive thus far (mostly in hopes of seeing someone). And there she was - back of the classroom. Mostly because he didn't know whether she was still not speaking with him and also due to her team winning in quidditch... but mostly the speaking thing. And the bludgers. Dominic strolled lightly towards the front of the room. Not that he wanted to, but because he couldn't deal with her just yet... It wasn't the time. "Hello Professor," Dominic greeted, as he pulled out a quill and parchment. |
Divination...eh not one of her best subjects but she did like the professor, so here she was. Maybe she could find out what the future is going to hold for her. Whether Nico, is going to kill her for kissing Plymouth Morgan, even though it was an accident. Ugh...but according to the whole school, they were now dating each other. Honestly she would rather date a troll. "Good day Professor Kapoor" she said absently as she passed his desk. Hmm...where to sit? She moved forward and decided on a chair in the middle of the class, she sat down and took her stuff out of her bag and placed it onto the desk. |
Copernicus entered the room and took a seat. He'd been laying low the past few days to work on the potion for Anna, so he felt sort of... distant from whatever had been going on with his peers. He DID know, however, that he'd better make an effort to make friends with Cela before Tobi tried to bite his nose off again. |
And there she was, sitting in the back of the room. It was a natural habitat for a "Hello, Professor," Juniper greeted Professor Kapoor rather more loudly than her usual volume, as she sat unceremoniously in the seat next to Anti-Nature Girl. Hopefully Kovac would not suspect that she was being watched like a wild animal. . . that would be no fun at all. |

I'm late! I'm late! I'm - not....? Tobi skidded into the classroom a little confused but pleasantly surprised. "Weeew! Made it!" he said, taking a seat near Kayla and Kettleburn. Aggie was supposed to be here, but maybe she got sidetracked with her Arithmancy. You never know with her. |
When she was younger, Issy had frivolously dealt with Divinations. Obviously, it had never been a serious matter to her, but nonetheless, she quite liked to look into it, to "read" her friends' palms and attempt to decypher their tea leaves. More often than not, she'd made things up off teh top of her head. As she entered the classroom, she spied in the back bothJuni and Willow, a sight not often seen. Together. She blinked just a bit as she tugged the strap of her bag over her shoulder and hurried towards them, sliding into a seat beside Juni. "Hey," she whispered to Juni, and then she looked over to catch Willow's eye, nodding at her and sending her a greeting of her own. Now. What had brought these two together in the first place? As she righted, she adjusted the light blue bow on the right side of her head, tightening it and patting at the slight waves of her hair, just to make sure no leaves had caught in it when she'd been out. |
Abby walks into class and finds a seat. She gets out her divination textbook and waits for class to start. |
"Hello there, students. I'm quite well, thank you." He beamed convivially back, as if singing. "Alright, class, now that you're all seated, today's lesson will be covering a certain type of cartomancy, that you're all probably very familiar with known as the Tarot. For starters, what is 'cartomancy'?" He asked the class. |
Tobi raised his hand, "Cartomancy is divination through interpretation of cards sir," he said. |
Abby raises her hand. "Cartomacy is the art of telling fortunes with cards." |
If not for the fact that she was sitting in a classroom, Juniper would have practically squealed at the sight of her best friend. As it was, the fourth year leaned halfway out of her seat to hug the other girl as fully as possible. She quickly straightened up at raised her hand. "Cartomacy is divination via a stack of cards, professor," she said. |
Qaz raised her hand and said, 'Cartomancy is divination using a deck of cards. It has rather vulgarly been called fortune-telling. Future-telling would probably be more accurate.' |
Anna's hand shot into the air. "Cartomancy, professor, is when a person tells a fortune using a deck of cards. This deck of cards is used in Divination, as well." Hmm...well, at least she'd known that answer. One down, who-knew-how-many to go. Only time would tell if she'd actually succeed in this lesson or not. |
Dominic raised his hand thoughtfully as the professor began the lesson. "Cartomancy is divination through the use of a deck of cards." |

"The Tarot, as we know it today in its' modern form is comprised of two sets of cards, one set consisting of 22 cards and the other 56 to make a total of 78 cards. Depending on which deck you're using, this can vary, however. For the purposes of this class, we will be studying the infamous Rider-Waite deck. This very simple, tri-colour deck has been used for over a century now and it's pictures are highly symbolic." He explained, as he charmed a bit of chalk to write down the definition of Cartomancy. "What are the two groups of cards within a tarot deck called?" |
Juniper's hand went into the air again. "THe two groups of cards in a tarot deck are called major arcana and minor arcana, I believe." |
Dominic listened and then raised his hand again, "The two groups of cards within a tarot deck are usually called the Minor Arcana and the Major Arcana" |
Issy raised her hand, happy to have known this one. "There is the trump deck, Professor, also called the 'major arcana', as well as the other set, the court and pip cards, known also as 'minor acrana' or just 'suits'." |
Abby raises her hand. "They are the Minor Arcana which consist of 56 cards, and the Major Arcana which consist of 22 cards." |
Tobi raised his hand, and answered, "Sir, there is the Major and Minor Arcana; the Major Arcana consists of 22 cards, and the Minor Arcana of 44. The Minor Arcan is very much like the standard Deck of playing Cards we used to day, some even say it's where they came from." |
Once again, Anna's hand shot into the air. She was actually surprising herself with the answers she was managing to come up with. Maybe she could pass Divination after all. "Those two groups are called Major Arcana and Minor Arcana, sir," she said. |
