Cale raised his hand. A question semi-related to Quidditch! He knew this one! "It's rated as XXXX Professor. They aren't dangerous or anything, but they're endangered now." he explained.

"But that can't be quite right, no offense," Tobi replied, "Or our Professor would be in trouble... Isn't it the capture or injury of a Snidget that is punishable?"

Clifford blinked when someone questioned his answer. "Well, the Professor just told us she worked at the Modesty Rabnott Golden Snidget Reservation. She's trained to own and look after a snidget, I guess." He shrugged, looking at her for the answer. "I meant not just any ole' person it allowed to own one."

Varius, needless to say, had been quiet for the majority of the lesson. At first it was because he was admittedly a little scared - no one knew what to expect in a class that could have acromantula about to nibble at your ankles! The whole thing was unpredictable! Then talk had moved to Quidditch, something Varius had never found himself going out his way to understand or know... hence the silence there, but then the pretty golden snidget came out.

What a gem it was, so cute! Although, he didn't quite agree with the name... it should be more something like fuzzle or cutikins or Varius. The little creature was so adorable that Varius found it hard to take his eyes off of him and actually pay attention. Was it wrong that he wondered what it tasted like... as a meal?

"Professor,It's classed as a XXXX." Replied John.

Cam wondered and raised his hand to answer the question. "They're classified as XXXX, only because that it's endangered. But it would probably be classified as an XX if there were still a lot of 'em. That's why they have the snidget reservations, since we're trying to make them not endangered."

Jake raised his hand. "Quadruple X professor," he said miserably. Everyone had answered the question he knew. "'Cause it's, like, endangered, not because it's dangerous. I think the principle is the same for Phoenixes."

Jake blinked. "Well, then that would be true for the reserves, to have Snidgets they would have to capture them. And don't you think it would be cruel to take the snidget away from the person he or she becomes attatched to?" Jake asked, referring to what he remembered from speaking to the Professor. "And that guy..." Jake pointed to the person whose answer had been questioned, causing him to respond. "...probably got it right. Or there's another reason... but, Professor Morgan's the expert," Jake shrugged, as he drew a snidget on his parchment absent-mindedly.

Tobi raised his hands in surrender, "I'm not trying to pick a fight," he squeaked. "I just thought it seemed odd for the law to be written quite that way. I just thought it would make more sense for it to only punish capturing them, maybe injuring them, but why punish someone for keeping them?"

Even though others had already spoken up, Anna raised her hand to contribute, as well. "The Golden Snidget is rated XXXX, but only because severe penalties are attached to its capture or injury," she said.

Clifford understood where the Gryffindor was coming from, and likewise, wasn't wanting to pick a fight. But hey, there was nothing wrong with a nice bit of healthy debate was there?

"I suppose you're not allowed to keep them because they're such an endangered species? I mean, you don't want an endagered species getting into the wrong hands, do you?" There could be illegal breeding/cross-breeding and all sorts. Poor birdies! "Professor Morgan here is obviously qualified and knows what she's doing." Hence the reason she was allowed to keep one.. like that Huffie kid had said, it'd be cruel to separate them. He offered the Professor a smile at his words bowed his head slightly.

Ana raised her hand "XXXX not because is dangerous but because they're rare"

Agie listened to the conversation going on and decided to butt in. "Because they are so endangered. They shouldn't be kept as pets, but left in the environment, or in the reserves so they can keep reproducing and not die out. It isn't a punishment. Some people are stupid." Agie smirked. "They wouldn't know after them and may kill them." Now that was sad, cause there were so cute!

"That's correct. And thank you for explaining the high classification. Five points." she said.
Correct. Three points." she said.
Yes, indeed. Two points to Slytherin."
Iliana watched as the boys had their discussion. Smiling at them she said, "Actually you are all right. It is illegal to possess a Snidget UNLESS you retain a special license. I obtained my license while employed at the reservation. Truth be told, I considered leaving Vinnie behind when I left for Hogwarts. I wanted to do whatever was best for him, after all. But in the end I knew I couldn't part with him. He thinks me to be his mother." she said, snuggling him close to her. "Trust me boys, I would never intentionally break the law. Do you have any other questions?" she asked.

Tobi thought about it, the Slytherin prefect made a certain amount of sense there. But something still wasn't quite sitting well with him. It was probably how much the Ministry loved adhering to rules, to the LETTER. "Okay, I see your point there and it's a good one, but Professor Morgan, qualified though I'm sure she is, doesn't work for the Reservation anymore, it's not her official title, so wouldn't her Snidget kinda be classified as a pet all the sudden? He's not on a reservation either. I mean, it's all technicalities, but wouldn't the Ministry get their wands in a knot about that if they had problems with people keeping them?"

And then the Professor covered that point, "Well, that settles that.." A blush rose in his cheeks he feared might be permanent...

OOops...

Clifford grinned when Professor Morgan went on to explain she had a special license to own her Golden Snidget. So ... had he been right? Wow. There was a first time for everything he supposed.

He didn't quite miss the blush colouring the Gryffindor's cheeks, and Clifford sent him a nod. Ah, it was just a class discussion. No hard feelings or anything, right? Hehe.

Hmmm. Any questions? Clifford thought for a second, before giving his head a shake.

"I have one," Varius said after raising his hand, "Can we see this licence?" Truth be told he just wanted to see what kind of mugshot Professor Morgan had on the license... but it would also be cool to see the official information and such that was on it, right?

Cela put her hand up, having been listening throughout the class, "Can... can I feed Vinnie?" She bit her lip somewhat hopefully.

Tobi's only question was really self-centered. It went to the tune of, What gave me the idea I knew what I was talking about in Care of Magical Creatures, Cha Cha Cha...

But otherwise he was free of questions, certainly free of any for the Professor.

He caught the nod of the Prefect he's held his debate with and took it for a, Good show, but you should probably wake up earlier than that to have any clue what you're talking about in a class where you're afraid of the subject matter.

Tobi attempted a smile in return, but it probably came out as a wince.

Jake raised his hand. "How old is Vinnie? I can't remember if you told us, and how long is a Snidget's lifespan?"

Quite the uplifting thing today, now aren't we? Jake told that annoying little voice in his head to shush... he didn't see a problem with his question. He smiled at Varius' question. He had some idea why he wanted to see the license, and in fact, Jake was quite curious. "Oh, and ma'am?" Jake raised his hand again. "How many Snidgets did you have at the reservation?"

Agie wanted to ask if the professor would let the snidget fly around the room so she could catch it. She'd be careful not to hurt it. But she doubted Professor Morgan would allow that. "Can I hold your snidget, Professor?" She'd love to be about to hold one.

Melanie quietly listened to the other students questions. She didn't really have anything to ask so she just sat there. Then a thought hit her. "Exactly how fast can the snidget fly ....as fast as a snitch goes?" she asked curiously.

"Of course you can." she answered. "Its hung in my office. Feel free to come by anytime to see it."

"That would be wonderful." she said, pulling out a small bag from inside her robes and tossing it over to her. "In the bag are his favorite treats. Why don't you try placing a few in your hand and walking up slowly. If he likes you, he should eat them." she said.
"Well Jake, good question. Vincent is only two years old. When it comes to the snidgets' lifespan, its really dependent upon their lifestyle. A domesticated snidget is rare but because of his care, Vinnie could live for many years. she said. "Oh, and we had a little over 400 snidgets currently living on the reservation. That's an alarmingly low number, isn't it?"
Iliana was happy to see the interest in holding Vincent. That was exactly the type of enthusiasm that made teaching exciting. "I would love that!" she said lifting her hand in the air so that Vincent could fly off. "Let me warn you first. He is very timid around new people though very affectionate. If he senses that's there's no danger he just might come to you." she said, watching him take off. He flew straight up into the air, zigzagging through the trees at lightening fast speed before swooping back towards the grass. As she watched him, she called out. "Try whistling at him. That's how I call him and he's used to that."

"That's good to hear, Professor," Jake smiled, as he turned the doodle into a proper piece. "I like it when animals and creatures have a high life-span, as well as a high quality of life."

Jake turned his quill over and started filling in the snidget with the feathered part of his quill and goldy-yellow ink, before going into detail with a better quill. "And is this the only reserve? I can't remember..." he asked, glancing up at Professor Morgan before watching the Snidget. "That's quite sad in any case... But, is there a possibility that there could be loads... somewhere? Or that someone is secretly caring for them? I mean, is the danger still there now that the Golden Snitch has been invented?" Jake went on. "Oops... sorry, too many questions," Jake smiled.

Hannah watched in amazement as the professor's Snidget, Vincent, flew around the room. He was really pretty. She smiled as she watched him.

Anna smiled when the professor mentioned they just might be able to hold or pet Vincent. She'd never held a Snidget before...or touched one for that matter. Just thinking about the possibility excited her, though. Anna listened carefully to the professor's directions, taking special care to remember that if the bird sensed any danger, he wouldn't come. Anna thought carefully about how she could convince Vincent she meant no harm. She finally decided that she should kneel on the ground, just in case Vincent might be alarmed by the large size of all the humans around him. As soon as she'd knelt down, Anna began to whistle to the bird, hoping he would come to her just the way he always came to Professor Morgan.
