He could do this! He could DO this!

Jake gulped as Miranda said the curse, obviously feeling it. He didn't have enough time to wonder why she was saying it THAT forcefully.

He couldn't do this! He COULDN'T do this!

"Protego!" Jake yelled, out of reflex more than anything. As he yelled it, he kind of wimped out a bit and stumbled back. The curse hit his sheild but the sheer force of it knocked him backwards so he tripped over his feet.

"ACK!" he yelled, going into a messy backwards roll and pulling himself back up (well, he'd had to learn these skills, being clumsy). Eyeing Miranda carefully, he forced himself not to retaliate; she could cast a strong curse.

It was contagious, Helios couldn't help but roll his eyes in response to the fellow Hufflepuff. "Pay attention, kid. You might learn something." The prince said, with a thump to the younger boys shoulder. Of course Helios never liked to pay attention during lessons, but why would he take it easy on a firstie?

This was like watching a soap opera. Speaking of soap opera, she needed to take notes, watching each student and what they did.

William looked around at the faces of the other students sitting in chairs and saw Jake looking almost bored. He was too far away to poke him or do anything but shake his head and turn back to the lesson, secretly hoping he would NOT get called up.

"Just because I'm not getting involved, it doesn't mean I'm not paying attention" Jack told him before being hit in the shoulder, he stood up and turned to the boy "Don't hit me, I did nothing to you, I was actually being good, keeping it shut, in case you didn't know, that is something I don't usually do, so don't start with me" Jack said, suddenly annoyed.

"Sit. Down."

Helios said through gritted teeth, eyes forward, finger pointing at Jacks seat. Was he really trying to start a scene?

Finding his patience, the golden haired prince looked to the younger student and smiled. "Relax. You're ok in my book." You have to appreciate someone that'd stick up to the boy brute.

"Mister Sunrider. Undoubtedly you were hit by a confundus charm. There can be no other explanation for why you would have the audacity to attempt to discipline students in my classroom. Fifteen points from your House." Professor Kazimeriz glared at the boy, speaking icily. "And five points from you, for disrupting my class, Mosier."

Celandine practically bounced with glee when Copernicus successfully shielded himself, though she had kind of wanted to see the curse hit. Not... hit Cope... but rather hit the Maddox that she'd projected onto Copernicus along with the grrrrrr still resounding in her head.

Who needed real live protective older brothers when you had a substitution like Mads?


Cel turned back to Plymouth and nodded again, encouragingly, her wand up. She didn't have quite enough time to cast Protego, but Cela was quick on her feet and she managed to dodge the brunt of the curse...

... though it still hit her hand.

She looked at her hand curiously, feeling its super slow movement. Weiiiiird. It felt weeeeiiiiird.

Celandine tucked her wand behind her ear and brought her hands together in a clap... the cursed one taking a good 5 seconds longer to move.

It felt weiiiiird.

Tobi winced at the Hufflepuff boys. Hadn't the gossip spread yet that Professor Kazimeriz was not a man to cross? In his class you sat down and shut up! Only the terribly brave ever volunteered in his class, and Tobi might be a disgrace to the House of Gryffindor, but he was okay with that so long as he came out of the class alive and not too many points behind where he started. He was content to sit in his seat, watch, listen and glitter obliviously.

"!"

Fist balled, and mouth agape. Someone needed to teach the professor a lesson.

But it wouldn't be him. Today. Today he would only pout angrily with his arms folded.

"OH NO!" Plymouth grimaced. "Are you okay? Did it hurt? Oh NO. I'm SO sorry, girlfriend! I'll fix that! I'll let you hex me back later. Professor, she'll heal right? I'm not that good, so I'm so sure she'll heal? RIGHT?" Plymouth danced around, feeling completely uncomfortable. He lowered his head and glanced sideways at Copernicus.

"I'm sorry I didn't shield you, Copernicus. I am having a REEALLy hard time shutting up. Anna hit me hard. She must have put a lot of intent behind it. I wonder why? I don't think I ever did anything to her... but you know girls... I don't get it... But... WHY did the Professor have to yell at Anna like that? When will this babbling curse wear off???"

"It didn't hurt." Cela responded, watching her hand float aimlessly around as she attempted a comforting gesture.

It was...

... like interpretive dance.

"How long will it last professor?" Cela asked once her hand had decided that it would sl-ow-ly cooperate and raise to politely ask the question, "I need one hand for answering questions and one to always be ready to go for my wand." Cela's cursed hand waved slowly in agreement.

Professor Kazimeriz smirked. "I think that will be enough for the moment... Finite Totalum!" He waved his wand in a large, sweeping motion, ending all the spells that had been cast to this point.

"As our volunteers clearly have demonstrated, it takes focus and strong intent to cast a curse effectively. There are a vast number of curses known to wizarding history; I have listed a few of the most common curses on the board." Sure enough, a list of curses appeared on the board:




"Now... you will all rise and stand against the walls in two teams. Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs on the left side of the room; Ravenclaws and Slytherins on the right. You will take turns casting against each other. Clearly state the name of your intended target. Non-verbal spellwork is not permitted. You may only use the curses on the board which have not been crossed out." He waved his wand, crossing out the more dangerous curses off the list of curses on his chalkboard.


"If you have not studied the proper wand movement for a curse you wish to cast, use lumos to light the tip of your wand and hold it up. I will come to you and assist you in your wandwork. "

He glanced around the room. "To begin, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff will be blocking, and Ravenclaws and Slytherins casting."

ooc: Go ahead and start casting spells or asking for help, just make sure you clearly choose a victim and state who you're targeting in your post so the other RPer knows to react. Also, remember-- control of your wand ends where the other RPer's person begins... RP what you intend to cast, but let them determine if it worked or if they blocked you. Oh... and HAVE FUN.

To clarify, right now the Ravies and Slythies are casting, Huffies and Gryffies block... we'll switch in a moment. sorry for the confusion!

Oh, finally! She was going to get to truly feel what it was like to be on the recieving end of a curse. Well, she'd at least get to feel what it was like to have someone attempt to curse her. Hopefully she'd be able to shield herself from the curse and not receive any of the effects. Anna happily stood from her seat and moved over to the left wall, where the Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs had been instructed to stand. When she was in place, she glared over at the Slytherins and Ravenclaws who'd taken a stand at the opposite wall. Grasping her wand in her right hand, she waited to see whose spell she'd need to block first.

Jake backed towards the "Gryffindor and Hufflepuff" side of the room. WHY had all of his targets been in Gryffindor or Slytherin. This was bad. Looking around him, Jake readied his wand and waited for a bigger student could stand by the wall relatively clase to Jake, so he could jump behind them.

Jake didn't know who to look out for with their cursing. Lasca? Cameron? Miranda? Will? Plymouth? ACK! Probably not Plymouth, he seemed busy. Cameron was a likely possibility (he'd seemed hurt when Jake removed his finger). Miranda had already had her shot, but that didn't exempt her. And then there was the rest of that lot, who would probably pick on Jake, because he was small.

Meanies.

Okay, if worst comes to worst, DUCK.

As soon as Plymouth was able to stop talking, he went straight to Celandine and for that hand that he'd cursed. He'd hexed his girlfriend.... Ughhhhh. He took that hand and held in both of his for a moment. "I'll take notes for you for a year to make up for that. Does it work okay now? You can stand behind me if you need a bit to recuperate..."


WOE to the people that dared even think about cursing poor wounded Celandine!


"Pick out someone for me to hex for you. I'll hex their socks off. For you. ANd that poor little hand." Plymouth let her hand go free and he got his wand out and ready to curse some Huffy Puffy Poofy heads.

Wait- What? What's this what's this? NO! not fair not fair! Why are people always pointing spells and curses at Tooobiiii?

Tobi dearly wanted to hide under his desk and cower, but he had the distinct feeling that he'd be facing off against Scary Man, rather than a student. He rose from his desk and headed to his doom the left side of the room.

WHHHY did the professor want them to fight each other so much? There was probably some friendly way to do all of this together as a class right? ...Bleh. Well at least Cam was certain this meanie professor was surely not a pacifist, or a vegetarian since he simply looked too evil to be caring about all the environment. Now they were going to fight each other, two houses in a team. The Ravenclaws were pretty experienced and stuff so there was reaallly nothing to worry about!

Walking to the right side of the wall, he had a nervous and uncertain face and stared at his green wand. He knew the spells, but none of the wandwork at all. And then more confusion with his face as the professor instructed them to cast lumos if they needed any help. Lumos? LUMOS?!

What the heck was a lumos?!

Cam, not knowing what the lumos spell or whatever it was, just held his wand up in the air for the professor to help him.

Copernicus did not WANT to hex anyone, but he raised his wand and gave Anna a look that said he was aiming for her. He bowed slightly before flicking his wand. Gently gently, not like he was going for an eye or anything.

"Impedimenta!"

William gave a little sigh of relief as the professor stopped the spells. He had been getting a headache listening to the babbling mess and the silence after was peaceful, until he heard their next instruction. Oh no not this, what about house unity, what about being nice to your fellow students without cursing and hexing them every second of the day? This just didn't seem right. Turning to glance at Kazi-man he eyed the man before turning his attention to the task at hand.

Okay, so he could do this right? Surely it couldn't be THAT bad, though he had thought the Hurling Hex would just tap Jake; how wrong he had been. He didn't know any curses, though he had been watching very closely how the wand movements and incantations went. He was sure he could do a few and as he stood holding his wand in his hand and walked over to the right side of the room, face set.

His eyes fixed on Jake. He owed him a curse or two after reversing his knees earlier. Though the hurling hex he himself had done had done some damage as well. Still, he was the only one Will knew and nodded towards the boy, as if acknowledging him.

"Oooh. No I like taking notes." Cela informed Plymouth, smiling brightly at him. Her hand was better now, thanks to the Professor who... oooooh new challenge! And working with Slytherins! Cela loved Slytherins!

She turned to face the Lions and Badgers, immediately casting the babbling curse at Tobi. He was a biiiig, tough, awesome-hair Gryffindor. He could take it!

Still, Cela totally took Plymouth up on the 'stand behind me' offer.

"Cope?" she called, "I'm sorry about cursing you, it was for Ravenclaw."

Jake saw a slight movement from a familiar looking boy, and saw Will. The boy hurler. As Jake shifted and gave a half smile back along with his own nod, he became glad that the hexes were off limits right now... that had been nasty. Jake gripped his wand a little tighter; Did this mean he was about to be cursed?

Some people had already started, and the shouting of curses was kind of unnerving. Jake held his wand in front of him, ready.

With his mood on the verge of being ruined, Helios cracked a smile at the idea of exchanging curses at his fellow students. Taking a slow breath as he rose to his feet, twirling his wand in his hand.

On his way to the Hufflepuff side, those cloudy blue eyes hunted for a victim. Ah ah ah. Tobi was looking nervous. Palm up, he extended out a hand, curling his fingers several times in a sign that said. "Come get some."

Anna didn't have to wait for long to see just who was going to attempt a curse on her. Copernicus Kettleburn's look clearly told her that she was about to be hit with his best shot. Anna fixed her eyes on Cope, and moved her wand up a bit higher. She nodded once, a move she wouldn't have had time for at all had this been a curse coming at her from outside the walls of her school.

Oh, he intended to slow her down or stop her entirely, huh? With a slight scowl, Anna raised her wand even higher and blocked the curse with a strong "Protego!" Ah ha! She'd successfully blocked the attempted curse! She was really starting to get that shield down pat! Anna didn't waste anytime getting prepared for another attempted curse. She raised her wand and stared at the opposing side once again.

May as well try my luck with Jake Will thinks holding his wand out directly pointing at Jake. Giving the boy a look that said 'please block this please' he bowed slightly like he had been taught when about to duel and flicked his wand and shouting, "Impedimenta!" as loud as he could.

The spell shot out and he watched it as it zoomed towards Jake.
