Professor Kazimeriz sat at his desk, near the chair where Healer Byron sat. He was making notes in an ancient book while he waited for the students to return to class.

ooc: RP coming in and filling out the worksheet, or queueing up and getting healed by Healer Byron (angelwing, who will be here for the duration of class) if you're hexified or jinxified. When we have a good number of people in the class, I'll begin. This final portion of lesson one will last about 2 days so every time zone can play.

Lyra filled out the piece of parchment that was on the desk, making sure to pay attention to Nurse Byron that happened to be visiting their classroom. She smiled and waved to the wonderful, sweet nurse but then her ears caught the sound of Agie's last name. That little monster!

The smirk on his face was enough for her to want to curse him to the ground. Maybe it was a good thing that the nurse was in the classroom just in case...

She looked away from his crazy, evil and sinful face and waited quietly in her chair for the class to begin. She always enjoyed this class but now, she was not so sure. She really wished that Robert was here, at least just to calm her down and put a smile on her face.

Qaz had been disappointed that she hadn't been in any of the hex battles, until she saw the results of some of them. She had to admit that the bedazzled Griffie was quite a sight, all shiny.

Whitney walked into the classroom and saw a paper on the professor's desk. She picked it up,went to her seat,and began filling it out.

Although I'm not too positive about that yet,I would have to say probably not. I don't see myself pursuing a profession in the Wizarding world.

Copernicus reentered the classroom, feeling rather exultant about his duels. It wasn't that he'd won them all (which he hadn't), but that they'd been well fought. HIs duel with Winters in particular had been very satisfying.

At his desk, he found a worksheet. Cope quietly began to work to fill it out.

For the most part, my experiences with the dark arts are limited to Defense Against the Dark Arts classes. I did take dueling lessons as a young child in order to learn form and discipline.

2. Have you had personal experience with curses specifically? If so, explain.

My dueling instructor, in my youth, pulled no casting when we would duel. In spite of being a much better dueler, he would often cast more advanced curses on me in order to motivate me to be a better spell caster. Also, we were occasionally cursed at Beauxbatons as we practiced some darker spells.

3. Do you intend to pursue a profession that will require you to excel in DADA or pass N.E.W.T. level coursework? Explain.

At this time, I have not decided what career path I would like to pursue. It is my intention to take a broad base of classes in order to ensure that I am eligible for several career paths. DADA is one of the classes I believe will be needed regardless of what career I choose.

He laughed outright at her comment. "Same here. That, and walking into walls." he said after a pause. He nodded his thanks and turned, the pain she had been talking about making itself known as he took the first step.

Walking back to his chair and depositing his stuff on the floor with a loud bang beside him, William winced as he sat down and stared at the board, gulping. He turned his head as something glittered and noticed a shining Gryffindor boy. He blinked, frowning but didn't say anything.

It wasn't much but she looked as if she needed the pick me up.

While she was waiting for the class to restart, Qaz skimmed through the text on curses one more time. Nasty stuff. She couldn't imagine wanting to perform any of them...not even against her extremely annoying brother.

He sincerely hoped Nurse of his Dreams heard that story.

Abby walks in the classroom and can't help but smile at Professor Kazimerez. She figures she'll be in big trouble soon enough. Abby spent too much time in the library and hadn't had time to duel with anyone. She picks up a questionaire from the desk and finds herself a seat.

Babbling Curse and the Jelly Brain Curse. It seems I have a nack for speaking my mind and question various aspect of my professors mental properties.

3. Do you intend to pursue a profession that will require you to excel in DADA or pass N.E.W.T. level coursework? Explain. I plan to pursue a careers as a healer, but I would still like to do N.E.W.T leval course work. I've always excelled at DADA despite what my professor from last year says.

Cam took a deep breath, was he seriously going to humiliate himself to everybody? Well yes, yes he was. "Well professor, I've learned a lot of things like constant vigilance after... getting attacked a few times by people. Honestly I didn't know at first, that people could attack from anywhere and a nice friendly conversation could end up with your friends... attacking you," he paused. "Since once I was talking to my... friend and he suddenly attacked me which resulted in a few injuries. Aand what I learned was that... um... you always need to be cautious, since you neveer know if that friend of yours can be a complete enemy. ...Right?"

Friend, making him LOSE that poking finger. PSSHH. MEAN, MEAN, SUPER MEAN JAKE.

"Well I was in the armour room studying well armour and Prefect Kayla sneaks up on me and casts a spell and then a slythering girl joins her and in the big trio of spells that we emitted from our wands made me grow taller" he said and then he added "It teaches always be on guard"

I don't know what I want to do yet, but I'd like to do well in DADA anyway.

She finished and raised her hand "Professor? My experience was that even if you THINK you're ready for anything, people can still get you! I was all ready, wand out, but right when I saw someone they were faster and got me with the bat-bogey hex. And...also, it's easy to get caught up and carried away."

With Lasca on his back, Plymouth returned to the evil do'ers room. Poor kid. He put her down where she could get some nurse attention. "Hope you get to feeling better, little doll. Sorry you got hexed... Jake will get his, sooner or later." Plymouth gave Lasca a smile and went back to his seat to fill out his paper thing.

Well, he filled it out after he made sure his CellBell and stepbrother made it back. They had, so he could get back to work.

She raised her hand. "Well sir I found out that you can really tell a lot about someone in a situation like that. Like a certain prefect chased me half way around this bloody castle trying to hex me. I mean she was quite rabid in her attempt to hex someone almost 3 years younger than her." She said looking at Anna as she smirked. "Good thing I was faster than her and she didn't catch me." She added as she winked at her.

Lasca smiled up at Plymouth. If she had been standing she would have curtsied to him. "Thank you, for being such a gentlemen." Then looking around she spotted the nurse. "Pardon me. I was hit with a badly aimed twitchy jinx and then with a jelly-legs hex." Wincing from the muscle spasms, she sincerely hoped that she had something for the pain. Her headache was growing as well.

Sighing decided to fill out the paper they had been given until the nurse could get to her.

Prior to the exercise, we talked about the difference between hexes and jinxes and the ongoing debate about which is more nefarious. Now that you have had experience both offensively and defensively, what is your opinion about which is more unpleasant- a hex or a jinx?"

ooc: i'm off for a few hours - bedtime for Xanas! -- but I'll be back in about 5 hours or so to pick back up. Like I mentioned, this class will run until Friday evening with Q&A on curses and an exercise, then homework will be assigned.

Elizabeth had been sitting quietly in the back of class, once more near Denton for some reason, filling out the form that had been left on the desk. She felt kind of strange since, unlike what appeared to be most of the rest of the class, she was reasonably unharmed. Even though it was only because of her ability to cast shield charms, and dodge things. And she had caught the boy she had helped going up to the nurse, which made her feel even stranger since it made her think she had done something wrong.

So here she sat, not speaking. Even though it seemed like hexes were worse to her. At least, with being a personal witness to both the hurling hex and the knee-reversing hex. Once she finished writing, she set the quill down on the paper, setting her badge on the desk next to it, and waited for something else to happen.

Personally, not any, other than DADA class. But my cousin's parents were killed by people using the dark arts.

Only when I've dueled with people like my cousin and my older brother. And I think they've held back. Like they're afraid of hurting me or something.

Not likely, since I want to be some sort of writer. But knowledge of DADA could be useful in case I need to protect myself while doing research or something.

She raised her hand again. "Sir I would say a hex. A jinx sometimes has a playful quality to it. Like the tickling jinx or maybe the teeth growing jinx, and they require less forcefulness of the caster. But a hex with a few of them you have to mean to really want to cause harm and none of them can be played off as funny. Hexes can cause pain and sometimes irreparable damage." She offered.
