"I'd like to Volunteer, as well." Agie added.

"Very good, ladies, though a hex is less potent than a jinx, Miss Brandywine. Two points to each of you, and a point to every person who volunteered. All five of you will join me at the front of the class. " he gestured for them to come up and stand in the empty to the right of his desk.

TeafortheSoul 02-15-2009 10:37 AM

Celandine stood up and was about to walk to where they were asked to when she stopped, bent down and ensured her shoelaces were tightly tied. She stood up straight and nodded politely to Professor Kazimeriz before taking her place at the front of the class.

Mell 02-15-2009 10:38 AM

Kayla got up from her chair and made her way to the front of the class and stood where the Professor had gestured. Ooh this should be fun...er unless of course it was Professor that was sending the hexes at them.

SweetAussie 02-15-2009 10:38 AM

Agie wasn't sure what exactly to expect, however she still got points. With her scarf still coving her ugly snout, Agie walked up to the right of his desk.

Becky 02-15-2009 10:38 AM

Jack sighed boredly at the back of the class, he wasn't impressed by this 'show' he rolled his eyes as people were clamouring to volunteer, Jack thought they were stupid, he stared at the ceiling, completely ignoring everyone else.

DeathEater24601 02-15-2009 10:40 AM

Seymour trembled excitedly and bounced up from his seat, happily making his way toward the front of the room. He beamed at Cela and stopped at the professor's desk, waiting for Camira to come up as well.

Amira With a C 02-15-2009 10:42 AM

Camira nodded politely and the professor and stood up, making her way to the front of the class. She was a bit excited but also a bit nervous. He given someone a pig snout, after all.

LizzieEvans 02-15-2009 10:49 AM

Lizzie curiously watched as the volunteering students got up. Even though this professor was a bit scary, he knew what he was talking about and so far the lesson had been quite entertaining. Eager to see what he would use the students for, she watched and waited.

XanaSnape 02-15-2009 10:53 AM

"Miss Brandywine, you will remove your scarf while you are in my class." Professor Kazimeriz said sternly. He assessed the group. Addams looked rather small compared to the older students, but he was eager and so Kazimeriz was not going to prevent him from participating. "I trust you all do, in fact, know how to perform a basic shield charm. You will only use a basic shield charm in this exercise showcasing your best form and focused intent." He raised his wand and flicked it, casually casting, "Oppugno!"

A pair of thick, massive runespoors, one with three heads and one with only two, appeared before the students. Their many orange and black heads hissed at the children, changing angle and height as they towered over the students, threatening to strike them.

Mell 02-15-2009 10:56 AM

Kayla raised her wand before the Professor could even finish the hex. "Protego" she said loudly, casting her shield quickly and holding her wand up and steady to keep it in place. She could see the heads of the Runespoors snapping at her but thankfully they were unable to penetrate her shield.

TeafortheSoul 02-15-2009 10:56 AM

Cela, wand already out, reacted instantly, "Protego!" She cast her shield charm firmly. Her shields were strong but didn't last too long, so she constantly had to recast after the shield deflected a hit. If she had to, Cela would jump behind Camira and Kayla because they were both awesomely tough.

Becky 02-15-2009 11:02 AM

Jack raised an eyebrow at the professor, he was so full of himself, it was kinda... boring, to be honest, all of the volunteers were soo happy, Jack was just... alone, and unimpressed.

TeafortheSoul 02-15-2009 11:03 AM

Runespoors, runepoors. What did she know about runespoors? Cela examined the two creatures and turned slightly toward the one with three heads; that was the one with the venomous head. Clearly the critic head had already been taken care of with the two-headed runespoor. The planner heads would be the ones to watch. Cela kept her eyes peeled.

Amira With a C 02-15-2009 11:04 AM

Only a basic shielding charm? That was too bad. Camira had wanted to experiment. She had to listen to him though, if she wanted her way.

She watched the professor cast his spell and took notice of the runespoors. Lovely. They looked quite angry. Thankfully, she was not afraid of snakes or snake like creatures whatsoever and so she didn’t worry much about panic overwhelming her ability to concentrate.

She turned her focus away from the runespoors and visualized a strong protective shield. At the same time, standing straight, she flicked her wand in one smooth motion and said a firm and clear “Protego.” She held her wand steady, keeping an eye on the runespoors, but focusing her energy into maintaining the spell. She tried to keep a steady flow going, rather than a burst. Who knew how long they would be forced to maintain it.

Seymour watched the professor conjure the great serpents, wide-eyed and grinning. Well, this was epic. He craned his head back and looked at the giant serpents, his reaction a bit delayed by pure awe, and sloooowly drew out his wand. What were those serpents? He'd never seen anything like them before... and as a general rule, the more heads a creature had, the better it was.

He raised his wand up to the large, three-headed serpent. "P-protego!" he squeaked, a bit dizzy from looking up so far. Bahaha. This class was more than a bit epic so far. Hopefully it wouldn't end up like detention with the crazed herbology professor last term.

LizzieEvans 02-15-2009 11:13 AM

With wide eyes Lizzie watched the students in front of the class preform Protego to shield themselves. She swallowed, glad that she hadn't volunteered. She had problems with protego already, and preforming it in front on an audience, with an actual danger... She would probably have panicked.

SweetAussie 02-15-2009 11:21 AM

Agie was horrified. He was gonig to do his best to publicly humiliate her. She hesitantly remover her scarf, but had her wand ready. She was used to protective spells. With a flick of her wand, Agie called "Protego!" .

She concentrated completely on her shield charm, making sure nothing would penetrate it.

Becky 02-15-2009 11:30 AM

Jack let out a small laugh, they were humiliated 'shouldn't have volunteered then' he thought to himself amusedly, Jack wasn't going to volunteer, of course not, he was going to stay put, in his nice warm seat.

XanaSnape 02-15-2009 11:36 AM

"Finite! " The runespoors vanished in a puff of dark smoke. "Excellent. Two points for each of you for your participation. You may return to your seats." he turned to the class. "As our volunteers have shown, the protego charm is made up of three components: The first is the wand motion." He drew his wand, facing the class. "It is a sweeping, upward arc directed toward your opponent... like so." He demonstrated the motion once, moving gracefully. "It must end with the sharp snap of your wrist or your shield will waiver and fail. Next is the incantation: Protego. Enunciate carefully and with confidence. And third, most important, is focus and intent-- you must direct all your energy into protection, creating the barrier between you and that which may bring you harm."

He repeated the wand motion, casting the shield charm. "Protego!" he cried.

"Rise. You will practice this charm until every member of the class can successfully achieve a prolonged, impenetrable shield charm." He picked up his cane, transfiguring it into an umbrella. Holding the large, black umbrella over his head, he pointed his wand at the ceiling and cast again. Storm clouds gathered in the classroom and it began to rain acorns, pelting the students with the rock-hard little nuts. Kazimeriz smirked and began to survey the students as they began their practice. He held his umbrella high over his head and sauntered casually down the aisles, his cane apparently no longer necessary for locomotion. If it ever was.

ooc: Bedtime for Bonzo! Er.. Xana, that is. I'm out for a few hours. Practice your shield charms and help each other out. Remember that extra points at the end of class go to those who are creative in their RP, so knock yourselves out... only, er... don't REALLY knock yourselves out. Unless you want to lay there in a little puddle of unconsciousness 'til I return in 6-8 hours. Up to you, really. But HAVE FUN, because that, and the hokey pokey, is what it's really all about. Peace out!

Oh- and you can talk to help each other and all, but anyone who turns this into a chat thread will really, really be sad when I wake up. Just sayin'. ;) :glomp:

EquestrianGal88 02-15-2009 11:37 AM

Freya had been watching from the middle of the classroom with her basic classroom materials on her desk. 'Wonder if someone is going to mess up...' She wondered, making sure that her face remained straight and her eyes alert to the lesson. But then the professor made some remarks about practicing. 'Oh thank goodness...I get to do something.' That's what Freya had thought, until it started to rain acorns. The acorns felt like daggers as they smacked into the top of Freya's head, especially when the cap hit. 'Ow...ow...OW! Okay, that one was aiming, I swear.' She lifted her wand up and made the same motion as she was instructed to do. Both from prior teachings and today's lesson and thought, 'Protego!'
She grinned as she was able to witness the acorns that until now would have been beating her into a pulp bounce off her sheild and fall to the ground with a clatter. 'That wasn't so hard now was it?' Freya peered around the room, keeping her shield going strong, and wondered how others were managing.

Becky 02-15-2009 11:42 AM

Jack looked up "Nuts" he sighed, sitting under the table, to avoid the nuts, he read a book, feeling quite casual, Jack sighed deeply and contentedly, he wasn't taking the chance.

Mell 02-15-2009 11:45 AM

Kayla walked back to her seat just in time to be pelted with raining acorns. Ow and they really, really hurt. Sweeping her wand upwards and giving a quick jab, she said the incantation loudly and confidently, "Protego." Thankfully the acorns had stopped hitting her on the head and she was now protected by her shield. She held her wand steady and concentrated on keeping her shield in place...how long she could do this, she did not know?

Spotting Jack, sitting under his table Kayla casually walked over to him still keeping her shield in place. "Oi, get out from under the table and start practicing. You have gotten away with misbehaving before but not today Jack Mosier" Kayla leant down and looked under the table. "If you lose so much as one point in this class, you will feel my wrath."

Bwahaha. More points. And that had been very easy. She loved Professor Kazimeriz. She loved this class! She thought similar joyous thoughts as she made her way back to her seat and sat down. She stopped though and focused her attention oh him when he started to speak. She took notes even though she knew what he was saying already. Revision was important, after all, and the more imprinted it was in your brain, the less you had to think about it in times of actual danger.

3 components of the Protego Charm:
1. Wand Motion – Sweeping upward arc ending with sharp snap.
2. Incantation. – Enunciation and confidence are key.
3. Focus/Intent – most important. Direct energy into protection.

There. Perfect.

She was surprised when they all had to stand again. She seemed to be standing a lot in this class. Not that she minded. Especially when it was helping her earn points.

Ah, they were going to practice. That made sense. Until clouds filled the classroom. Or at least the top half of it. And then all of a sudden, OUCH! What in Merlin’s pants was that? She looked down at the floor. Acorns?! If only Masterson was here. He’d be having a party. She pulled out her wand, using the precise motion the professor had demonstrated, whilst giving a firm “Protego” and concentrating on steady but effective protection. Immediately she felt the difference in her shield. It seemed stronger somehow. Excellent! And people felt revision was pointless. Pffft. At any rate, the acorns weren’t hitting her, which meant life was good.

She looked around in case anyone needed help, taking extra care to maintain her shield. Active multitasking was proving to be a bit of a challenge. Which meant Camira loved it, of course. But really, she wanted to make sure that no one was getting mutilated by acorns, powerless to stop them. That would just be sad. And pathetic. And hilarious. Right, anyway, focusing….

OHMYLAWDYACORNSYUMYUM!!!!!

Nobody knew this, but Jake had recently taken quite a liking to acorns. They were just so... nummy. The smell was sooooooooo tempting, but Jake would be strong! He looked, and immediately fell backwards, landing on acorns which dug into his back.

Well, that's one way of getting off a chair, he thought, picking himself up. "Yarrrrghh!!!!!"

The second he'd stood, Jake had realised there were acorns under his feet, causing him to slip and fall right back down again.

This time, Jake cleared the floor for his feet and stood, trying to ignore the annoying CRACKs as they hit his sensitive li'l noggin.

"Prot-AGH!" Jake tried to cast the spell, only to get an acorn or two in his mouth. Pulling off the shell thingies, the little hats, as he liked to call them, Jake crunched them. Mmmmmm... acorns...

Pointing his wand up, Jake tried again, checking the sticker on the end of his wand was facing him. "Protego!"

Nothing happened. Hmm... maybe it was the wrist snap at the end... Eww... wrist snap. Gross... Jake let his mind wander for a second before having another go. "Protego!" he cried, doing the SNAP at the end. His wand seemed to shudder a tad, but still nothing... Ah... just have to practise.

Where the acorn dude, anyway? He scented these things from... well... I dunno, a mile away?

And then Jack appeared in Jake's field of vision. "YELP!" he... yelped, scurrying away to somewhere different and slipping over again on the acorns.
