GinnySnot checked her timetable once more, "ya its Defence against Dark arts next" she looked on her small wrist watch again and sighed, "oh! thank God finally I'm on right time 10 min to go" She entered the class, curiously watching all the pictures on the wall, moved towards the front seat, that what she usually do, during her schoolings at her village. Partially because of her little size compared to other kids of her own age and partially because she was curious to see more magic, she sat on the free seat at the front row. She took her DADA book and place it on the top of the table took some parchment, and quill and eagerly waited for the Professor to enter. She made a quick glance around the class with her cute black eyes and made a welcoming dimple smile to who ever glanced at her GinnySnot raised her hand with full enthusiasm and told Professor, " Professor Kazimeriz, my suggetion is Deterioratux, which will cause the oponents strength to deteriorate to half his strength while the person who jinxed it will gain the oponents lost power " ooc: Hi, this is your professor. I know you're new so I'll PM you the rules, but just so you know: you can't RP entering a class after the fact or you lose points... also you can't edit your post once I (or anyone else) have quoted it... Once it's up, it 'happened'. I'm always open to a PM if you need any help or have questions. -- Xanasnape :) |
Tino looked like he had chicken pox. Splotched from head to toe with red welts, he crouched in his desk and shifted uncomfortably from side to side. Even his bum was bruised. But class went on as if nothing had happened, and no one seemed to mind much that classroom safety standards were not being followed, that a student had nearly died (in a very unsafe way). Tino's sense of indignance gave him an edge of confidence. He'd just saved Tobi's life, poor, helpless, huge Tobi! This was enough to inspire the dreamy boy's soul for the rest of the day. Enough, perhaps, to even raise his hand. "Professor," Tino waved a limp, lumpy hand, "Since hexes and jinxes are a matter of semantics, then I would add the Twitchy Ears spell, because it makes your opponent's ears wiggle and twitch. That can be both entertaining and defensive." |

He narrowed his eyes and approached the table where she sat. "It seems we have a latecomer. Fifteen points from Gryffindor for your shameless late entrance. May I assume that you already have mastered a shield charm, and that is the reason you saw fit to miss the first portion of the class?" He gave her a death glare, daring her to speak. |
Daniel looked towards the door where the Professor is looking at. Then he saw a fellow Gryffindor, who came late. Just our luck Daniel thought. Then he straightened his view towards the chalkboard and nearly fell when he heard that they were deducted fifteen points. He only sighed and started thinking of a hex to compensate for the loss. |
Cela put her hand up thoughtfully, "Professor Kazimeriz? Have you seen all of the hexes, curses and jinxes in the text used? I mean... some of the grosser sounding ones... I kind of wonder about how they look? Like the finger-removing one and the entrail-expelling one? Is there a spell that someone could cast if they had a weak stomach and wanted to use something like that anyway?" |
Turning green at the rememberance, Liz raises her hand again "How about the slug eating one?" |
Herminny was went over to comfort Ginnysnot during this mortifyingly embarrassing time for her, she then walked her and Ginnysnot to two seats in the back of the classroom. |

Professor Kazimeriz glanced at the chalkboard and made some changes, eliminating some of the hexes and jinxes that students had suggested until only a few of each remained: http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...kit/class2.png "For the lab portion of this class, we will only be focusing on the hexes and jinxes listed on the board." Professor Kazimeriz waved his wand, conjuring four baskets, one in each of the Hogwarts house colors. They began gliding slowly down the aisles between the rows of desks. "As the basket which corresponds to your house colors comes by your desk, please take a badge from it and affix it on your robes. These are your DADA lab hall passes and must be worn for the duration of the next exercise." He watched as the baskets slowly cruised back and forth. "Before you affix the badge to your robes, understand this: I expect my students to behave appropriately and in accordance with the rules at all times. Wearing this badge means that you will accept and adhere to the rules of the exercise that is to follow." he looked around the classroom. http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o.../DADAGRYFF.jpg http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o.../DADARAVEN.jpg http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/DADAhuff.jpg http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/o.../DADAslyth.jpg ooc: Please use the badge as your avvie for the next 24-48 hours if you intend to participate in this lab. Consider it your 'get out of detention free (within reason)' card. RP yourselves putting on your badges and I'll explain more. :) It'll be fun; play along! :D |
Herminny then raised her hand again and said,"the anti-dissaparation hex which I guess would stop someone from dissapparated. I wonder is that jinx on the school"? Herminny grabbed a Gryffindor badge and put it on her robe. |

Celandine nodded at the response, considering it. She certainly didn't have a weak constitution; gross stuff was fine, intriguing even. But she imagined that if nothing else, vomiting from the sight of a gross spell could also figure as a great distraction... Cela listened carefully to the instructions and took a badge, fixing it on her chest happily. |
Allie listened ot the professor has he explained the instructions, then took a badge and put it on her robes. |
Copernicus took one of the badges with great interest. What was it they would be needing a hall pass for? Were they leaving the room? |
Cam frowned a little when the professor corrected him that it wasn't a jinx, it was a charm. Well obviously it was. But like... like--Oh bleh. But then his eyes went from sad to happy after the professor gave them their house badges. GREEN! He was all giddy, looking at the professor, then to the board, then back to the professor. GASP. It was like seeing a child of his own once one basket dropped a badge onto his desk. "Thanks Professor!" GASP-ETH. WHAT?! No. No. No. It was by instinct, I swear. Actually thanking that... evil professor (or so he thought) was a horrible thing to do. Eh. He put the badge on his robes and grinned. It looked all cool and awesome, looking at the other people to see how it fit them. I look mucho bettah! |
Sam eyed the professor wearily, before taking herbadge. She wasn't all the sure why they had to wear the badge. It was making her slightly paranoid, but she placed the badge onto her robes anyways. Wonder what the old dude had up his sleeves now. |
When the baskets passed by her, Lyra took one of the Hufflepuff DADA badges. She wondered what they were about to do as this seemed like something...fun. This was, after all, her favorite subject and one that she knew fairly well. She kept the baskets going to the next student and waited for the instructions from the professor before doing anything else. |
The smile faded from her face, her beautiful eyes glittered with small drops of water, trying hard to avoid it falling off from her eyes, she forced her eyes from the daring glance of Professor and glanced at her watch and to her shock she found if stopped working, " Oh, might have stopped working yesterday when I fell in the lake and rescued by the giant squid. Always a trouble maker, why it always happens to me? Grandpa has warned me several times to be careful while reaching the class on time, still this my first class, in such a big place and with this watch how will I find the class on time?, miserable fifteen points I have made loss for Gryffindor, how will I gain it back" Ginny closed her eyes and thought. "Did Professor have noticed the suggestion which I have added on the jinxes' name, about Deterioratux? May be no, As he is angry on the fact that I came late he might not have listen to it, and should me tell that me know the shielding charm Protego?" so many questions arouse in her mind. Suddenly she felt a consoling arm on her shoulder and turned to see a pretty girl by her side. |
Kayla took the basket from Lyra and picked out a Hufflepuff badge before passing the basket onto the next person. She fixed it to her robes and sat up straighter in her seat. |
Ginny felt a little lighten at her mind and said " Thank You", to the girl by her side with a weak smile. She suddenly turned to hear Professor and took the badge pinned it on to her robes, determining that she will gain more points than what she had loss now, by keenly studying in the theory class as well as the practical classes and help her house win. She note down all the hexes and jinxes on the board as fast as she could on her parchment. |
Professor Kazimeriz smirked, leaning against the lectern once more. "In this lesson we are quite obviously focusing on the hexes and jinxes listed on the board as well as defensive manuevers to block these unfriendly spells. You have, for the most part, all successfully learned how to perform a sustained shield charm. Many of you -- especially older students-- also have other defensive spells mastered." "The hexes and jinxes listed on the board are relatively simple to achieve. The wand motions for all of the listed hexes are cast by drawing a simple X mark in the air with your wand, directing the motion at your opponent as you speak the incantation. The jinxes listed are all cast with their appropriate incantation and a looping motion...like so." He demonstrated with his wand, moving nimbly (and not leaning on his cane at all). "The incantations can all be found in your text." He paused, looking around the room. "As we have discussed, one of the most important elements of defensive wand work is the ability to have a keen, aware mind. While practicing duels sharpens your wandwork, it is far more difficult to block a surprise attack. Therefore, I do not see the value in keeping you in the classroom, practicing spellwork. Instead, we are going to play a little game." He grinned at the students, his dark eyes glittering with delight. "The name of the game is Hex and Go Jinx. The rules are simple. Each house acts as a team. Go about your normal lives for the next 48 hours. Go where you normally go, do what you normally do. If you see someone who is NOT in your house but is wearing a DADA badge, you are free to attack them with any of the hexes or jinxes listed on the blackboard. You may only use the hexes and jinxes I have listed. If you sense someone attacking you, you are free to shield yourself in any way you know how, as long as it is a defensive tactic. You may then retaliate but only with one of the hexes or jinxes that is on the blackboard. You will not be punished for these attacks and counter attacks as long as you are wearing your DADA hall pass... But you may not attack anyone in another professor's class or office; these areas are strictly off limits for this game." He looked around the room and placed the rules up on the board: Quote:
ooc: Please RP yourself here 'signing up' if you intend to play so there are no arguments about who was participating and who was not. Then practice a bit if you like, then RP leaving the room. Have fun stormin' the castle and playing this game of 'wizard's tag'; If you have any questions at all please PM me! :) |
Herminny thiought, this game could be quite fun so she signed the lab sheet and was off. |
Lyra walked up and signed the sheet of paper that the professor spoke about. This had to be the coolest of all coolest things. She didn't know the professor had it in him to be so...creative. She was rather impressed. Once she signed the sheet of paper, she wanted to practice a few more times before leaving the room. She walked back over to where she was seated, gathered her things and walked to the side of the room. "Protego," she said with force as the shield rose around her. She knew she had to concentrate and mean every spell, whether it was a jinx or a hex. Now she knew what to do and she was ready to aim with her list in hand. She even wanted to try a few silent tricks on some of the students. They were fair target and she was ready. |
Wow! Now this sounded cool. Sam stood up and went to sign her name in her loopy hand writing. She then nodded a goodbye at the professor and made her way out of the room. |
Agie was sooo angry at the crappy old man. Especially for him drawing MORE attention to her. She walked up to the front and signed her name. "Protego," She called, imitating what Lyra did. It was lucky she was good at her shield charms... too bad it didn't help her before. |
"What? A Lab class on hexing others?", Ginny sat in her seat for a moment, but suddenly she thought that, after all it was instructed by the Professor and he might have his own means to teach us and he might know that it wont hurt others and after all it will be a fun to do magic. She took her quill signed and once again went through all the hexes and jinxes, practiced her wand motion |
ooc: I'll be off for a few hours. Please continue signing up and practicing, then excuse yourselves when you're ready and go have some fun. I'll reconvene class with a post here Tuesday evening EST and will also place announcements up to let you know to return to class for the curses component of the class. Please note that if you haven't been playing until this point you are free to join in at any time as long as you follow the rules. Also, please don't turn this into a chat thread while I'm away. Thanks! :) PS: Rowling didn't give us much to go on in terms of incantations for hexes and jinxes. So, for the purposes of this game, if there's an incantation on HP Lexicon you may use it, otherwise feel free to get creative-- but for the sake of everyone involved please note ooc WHICH hex or jinx you're using. :) Have fun! |
